This book presents the outcomes of the 15th International Conference on Distributed Computing and Artificial Intelligence, held in Toledo (Spain) from 20th to 22nd June 2018 and hosted by the UCLM, and which brought together researchers and developers from industry, education and the academic world to report on the latest scientific research, technical advances and methodologies. Highlighting multi-disciplinary and transversal aspects, the book focuses on the conferences Special Sessions, including Advances in Demand Response and Renewable Energy Sources in Smart Grids (ADRESS); AI- Driven Methods for Multimodal Networks and Processes Modeling (AIMPM); Social Modelling of Ambient Intelligence in Large Facilities (SMAILF); Communications, Electronics and Signal Processing (CESP); Complexity in Natural and Formal Languages (CNFL); and Web and Social Media Mining (WASMM).

PAAMS, the International Conference on Practical Applications of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems is an evolution of the International Workshop on Practical Applications of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems. PAAMS is an international yearly tribune to present, to discuss, and to disseminate the latest developments and the most important outcomes related to real-world applications. It provides a unique opportunity to bring multi-disciplinary experts, academics and practitioners together to exchange their experience in the development of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems. This volume presents the papers that have been accepted for the 2016 in the special sessions: Agents Behaviours and Artificial Markets (ABAM); Advances on Demand Response and Renewable Energy Sources in Agent Based Smart Grids (ADRESS); Agents and Mobile Devices (AM); Agent Methodologies for Intelligent Robotics Applications (AMIRA); Learning, Agents and Formal Languages (LAFLang); Multi-Agent Systems and Ambient Intelligence (MASMAI); Web Mining and Recommender systems (WebMiRes). The volume also includes the paper accepted for the Doctoral Consortium in PAAMS 2016 and Collocated Events.

The idea of this book originated in the works presented at the First Latinamerican Conference on Mathematics in Industry and Medicine, held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from November 27 to December 1, 1995. A variety of topics were discussed at this meeting. A large percentage of the papers focused on Wavelet and Harmonic Analysis. The theory and applications of this topic shown at the Conference were interesting enough to be published. Based on that we selected some works which make the core of this book. Other papers are contributions written by invited experts in the field to complete the presentation. All the works were written after the Conference. The purpose of this book is to present recent results as well as theo­ retical applied aspects of the subject. We have decided not to include a section devoted to the theoretical foundations of wavelet methods for non­ specialists. There are excellent introductions already available, for example, Chapter one in Wavelets in Medicine and Biology, edited by A. Aldroubi and M. Unser, 1996, or some of the references cited in the chapter.
