This volume contains a selection of the papers presented at the 11th International Workshop on Multi-Agent-Based Simulation (MABS 2010), a workshop co-located with the 9th International Joint Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems (AAMAS 2010), which was held on May 10-14, 2010 in Toronto, Canada. The 11 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 26 submissions. The workshop has been an important source of inspiration for the body of knowledge that has been produced in the field of Multi-Agent Systems (MAS). As illustrated by this volume, the workshop continues to bring together researchers interested in MAS engineering with researchers focused on finding efficient ways to model complex social systems in social, economic and organizational areas. In all these areas, agent theories, metaphors, models, analyses, experimental designs, empirical studies, and methodological principles all converge into simulation as a way of achieving explanations and predictions, exploring and testing hypotheses, and producing better designs and systems.

ThisbookpresentsselectedandrevisedpapersoftheSecondWorkshoponAd- tive and Learning Agents 2009 (ALA-09), held at the AAMAS 2009 conference in Budapest, Hungary, May 12. The goalof ALA is to provide an interdisciplinaryforum for scientists from a variety of?elds such as computer science, biology, game theory and economics. This year's edition of ALA was the second after the merger of the former wo- shops ALAMAS and ALAg. In 2008 this joint workshop was organized for the?rst time under the?ag of both events. ALAMAS was a yearly returning Eu- pean workshop on adaptive and learning agents and multi-agent systems (held eight times). ALAg was the international workshop on adaptive and learning agents, which was usually held at AAMAS. To increase the strength, visibility and quality of the workshop it was decided to merge both workshops under the?ag of ALA and to set up a Steering Committee as an organizational backbone. This book contains six papers presented during the workshop, which were carefully selected after an additional review round in the summer of 2009. We therefore wish to explicitly thank the members of the Program Committee for the quality and sincerity of their e?orts and service. This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 12th International Workshop on Multi-Agent-Based Simulation, MABS 2011, held in Taipei, Taiwan, in May 2011. The 10 revised selected and extended papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 21 submissions. The topics covered are MABS in scientometrics; MABS in politics, transit and policy; pedestrian, crowds and large scale MABS; and MABS modeling.

This is the joint post-proceedings of the 6th International Symposium on High Performance Computing (ISHPC-VI) and the First International Workshop on Advanced Low Power Systems 2006 (ALPS2006). The post-proceedings also contain the papers presented at the Second HPF International Workshop: - periences and Progress (HiWEP2005) and the Workshop on Applications for PetaFLOPS Computing (APC2005), which are workshops of ISHPC-VI. ISHPC-VI, HiWEP2005 and APC2005 were held in Nara, Japan during September 7–9, 2005. Fifty-eight papers from 11 countries were submitted to ISHPC-VI. After the reviews of the submitted papers, the ISHPC-VI Program Committee selected 15 regular (12-page) papers for oral presentation. In ad- tion, several other papers with favorable reviews were recommended for poster presentation, and 14 short (8-page) papers were also selected. Twenty-eight papers out of 29 ISHPC-VI papers are contained in the post-proceedings. Hi- WEP2005 and APC2005 received eight and ten submissions, with six and eight papers being accepted for oral presentation after reviews, respectively. All the HiWEP2005 and APC2005 papers are included in the post-proceedings. ALPS2006 was held in Cairns, Australia on July 1, 2006 in conjunction with the ACM 20th International Conference on Supercomputing. The number of submitted papers was 15, and eight papers were accepted for oral presentation. The post-proceedings contain six of the eight papers.

The 33rd International Conference “Workshop on Graph-Theoretic Concepts in Computer Science” (WG 2007) took place in the Conference Center in old castleinDornburgnearJena,Germany,June21–23,2007.Theapproximately80 participants came from various countries all over the world, among them Brazil, Canada, the Czech Republic, France, UK, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan, and the USA. WG 2007 continued the series of 32 previous WG conferences. Since 1975, the WG conference has taken place 20 times in Germany, four times in The Netherlands, twice in Austria as well as once in Italy, Slovakia, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, France and in Norway. The WG conference traditionally aims at uniting theory and practice by demonstrating how graph-theoretic concepts can be applied to various areas in computer science, or by extracting new problems from applications. The goal is to present recent researchresults and to identify and exploredirections of future research. Thecontinuinginterestinthe WGconferenceswasre?ectedin thehighn- ber of submissions; 99 papers were submitted and in an evaluation process with four reports per submission, 30 papers were accepted by the Program Comm- tee for the conference. Due to the high number of submissions and the limited schedule of 3 days, various good papers could not be accepted. There were invited talks by Ming-Yang Kao (Evanston, Illinois) on algori- mic DNA assembly, and by Klaus Jansen (Kiel, Germany) on approximation algorithms for geometric intersection graphs.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Large-Scale Scientific Computations, LSSC 2005, held in Sozopol, Bulgaria in June 2005. The 75 revised full papers presented together with five invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the book. The papers are organized in topical sections.

The refereed post-proceedings of the First International Symposium on Combinatorics, Algorithms, Probabilistic and Experimental Methodologies are presented in this volume. The symposium provided an interdisciplinary forum for researchers to share their discoveries and approaches. Science (WG 2002) was held in Cesky ´ Krumlov, a beautiful small town in the southern part of the Czech Republic on the river Vltava (Moldau), June 13–15, 2002. The workshop was organized by the Department of Applied Mathematics of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University in Prague. Since 1975, WG has taken place in Germany 20 times, twice in Austria and The Netherlands, and once in Italy, Slovakia, and Switzerland. As in previous years, the workshop aimed at uniting theory and practice by demonstrating how graph-theoretic concepts can be applied to various areas in Computer Science, or by extracting new problems from applications.The workshop was devoted to the theoretical and practical aspects of graph concepts in computer science, and its contributed talks showed how recent research results from algorithmic graph theory can be used in computer science and which graph-theoretic questions arise from new developments in computer science. Altogether 61 research papers were submitted and reviewed by the program committee. The program committee represented the wide scienti?c spectrum, and in a careful reviewing process with four reports per submission it selected 36papersforpresentationattheworkshop.Thereferees'commentsaswellasthe numerous fruitful discussions during the workshop have been taken into account by the authors of these conference proceedings.

The 29th International Workshop on Graph-Theoretic Concepts in Computer Science(WG2003)washeldintheMennorodeconferenceCenterinElspeet,The Netherlands.TheworkshopwasorganizedbytheCenterforAlgorithmicSystems of the Institute of Information and Computing Sciences of Utrecht University. The workshop took place June 19–21, 2003. The 72 participants of WG 2003 came from universities and research institutes from 18 di?erent countries and?ve di?erent continents. The workshop looks back at a long tradition. It was?rst held in 1975, and has been held 20 times in Germany, twice in Austria, and once in Italy, Slo- kia, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic, and has now been held for the third time in The Netherlands. The workshop aims at uniting theory and practice by demonstrating how graph-theoretic concepts can be applied to various areas in computerscience,orbyextractingnewproblemsfromapplications.Itisdevoted to the theoretical and practical aspects of graph concepts in computer science. The goal is to present recent research results and to identify and explore - rections of future research. The talks given at the workshop showed how recent research results from algorithmic graph theory can be used in computer science and which graph-theoretic questions arise from new developments in computer science.
