Als theoretischer Bezugsrahmen wird das Konzept des organisatorischen Lebenszyklus herangezogen, das die Evolution organisatorischer Einheiten von ihrer'Geburt'bis zu ihrem'Tod'betrachtet. Als alternative Entwicklungseinrichtungen werden die Strukturausarbeitung und der organisatorische Abschwung unterschieden. Deren Untersuchung erfolgt mit Hilfe zweier Delphi-Studien, in denen Führungskräfte aus der Datenverarbeitung und den Fachbereichen einbezogen werden. Die Ergebnisse bestätigen die vorgenannten Abschwungtendenzen, deren Ursachen am Ende der Arbeit näher analysiert werden.

Das vorliegende Buch behandelt die strategieorientierte Planung betrieblicher Informations- und Kommunikationssysteme (IKS). This book contains the refereed proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Business Process Modeling, Development and Support (BPMDS 2013) and the 18th International Conference on Exploring Modeling Methods for Systems Analysis and Design (EMMSAD 2013), held together with the 25th International Conference on Advanced Information Systems Engineering (CAiSE 2013) in Valencia, Spain, in June 2013. The 15 full papers, two experience reports, and three idea papers accepted for BPMDS were selected from 54 submissions and cover a wide spectrum of issues related to business process development, modeling, and support. They are grouped into sections on innovative representations for knowledge-intensive processes; business process management in practice; analysis of business process models; model-based business process analysis; flexible business process management; improvement and change patterns; and process model repositories. The 10 full and 2 short papers accepted for EMMSAD were chosen from 27 submissions and focus on exploring, evaluating, and enhancing current information modeling methods and methodologies. They are grouped in sections on advanced modelling; capturing design knowledge; method engineering; modelling process; specialized modelling; and modelling experiences.

This book constitutes the revised selected papers of the combined workshops on Web Information Systems Engineering, WISE 2011 and WISE 2012, held in Sydney, Australia, in October 2011 and in Paphos, Cyprus, in November 2012. Derzeit verfügbare'universelle'Datenbanksysteme sind historisch für betriebswirt­ schaftliche Anwendungen entst&lden. In Anwendungsgebieten wie der Unterstützung von Bürotätigkeiten oder der rechnergestützten Konstruktion und Fertigung (CAD/CAM - CIM) stoßen sie daher vielfach Rn die Grenzen ihrer Fähigkeiten. Diese Tatsache spiegelt sich wider in dem angelsächsis,;hen Schlagwort'non-standard date base applications', was sich vielleicht mit'nicht-konventionelle Datenbank-Anwendungen'wiedergeben läßt. Für derartige Anwendungen werden immer häufiger neuartige DB-Systeme gefordert. Die Datenbank-Forschung griff diese Problematik schon vor einigen Jahren verstärkt auf. Das läßt sich belegen durch das Fachgespräch Datenbanken der GI -Jahrestagung 1983, aber auch durch so renommierte internationale Konferenzen wie SIGMOD'84 oder VLDB84, bei denen sich etwa 50% der Beiträge mit Datenbank-Problemen beschäftigten, die sich durch Anwendungen in Büro, Technik und Wissenschaft stellen. Unter diesen Umständen hielt es der Fachausschuß 2.5'Rechnergestützte Informations­ systeme'der Gesellschaft für Informatik für angebracht, eine Fachtagung eigens über Datenbanksysteme für die Unterstützung von Bürotätigkeiten und für technisch-wissen­ schaftliche Anwendungen auszurichten. Die erfreulich große Resonanz, die der Aufruf zu Tagungsbeiträgen fand, hat diese Einschätzung bestätigt. Es ist den Veranstaltern ein Bedürfnis, an dieser Stelle den vielen Autoren zu danken, die durch ihre einge~ reichten Beiträge die Bedeutung der Thematik unterstrichen haben, und zwar ausdrücklich auch denen, deren Beiträge nicht im Tagungsprogramm erscheinen. In den meisten Fällen ist der Grund dafür nicht die mangelnde Qualität, sondern der Zwang zurzeitlichen und thematischen Konzentration, der die Organisatoren vor die Qual der Wahl stellte.

Datenbanken spielen als Informationsspeicher immer mehr eine zentrale Rolle. Daher müssen ihr erfolgreicher Aufbau und ihr fehlerfreier Betrieb langfristig gesichert sein. Umfassende Kenntnisse der verwendeten Modelle, der verschiedenen Entwurfstechniken sowie der beim laufenden Betrieb zu beachtenden Maßregeln sind dazu notwendig. Ontologies have been developed and investigated for quite a while now in artificial intelligence and natural language processing to facilitate knowledge sharing and reuse. More recently, the notion of ontologies has attracted attention from fields such as intelligent information integration, cooperative information systems, information retrieval, electronic commerce, and knowledge management. The author systematically introduces the notion of ontologies to the non-expert reader and demonstrates in detail how to apply this conceptual framework for improved intranet retrieval of corporate information and knowledge and for enhanced Internet-based electronic commerce. In the second part of the book, the author presents a more technical view on emerging Web standards, like XML, RDF, XSL-T, or XQL, allowing for structural and semantic modeling and description of data and information.

This book constitutes a collection of selected contributions from the 12th International Conference on Perspectives in Business Informatics Research, BIR 2013, held in Warsaw, Poland, in September 2013. Overall, 54 submissions were rigorously reviewed by 41 members of the Program Committee representing 21 countries. As a result, 19 full and 5 short papers from 12 countries have been selected for publication in this volume. This book also includes the two keynotes by Witold Abramowicz and Bernhard Thalheim. The papers cover many aspects of business information research and have been organized in topical sections on: business process management; enterprise and knowledge architectures; organizations and information systems development; information systems and services; and applications.

Dear readers, Although it is well-known that confidentiality, integrity and availability are high­ level objectives of information security, much of the attention in the security arena has been devoted to the confidentiality and availability aspects of security. IFIP TC-ll Working Group 11. 5 has been charged with exploring the area of the integrity objective within information security and the relationship between integrity in information systems and the overall internal control systems that are established in organizations to support the corporate governance codes. In this collection you will not only find the papers that have been presented during the first working conference dedicated to the subject (section A) but also some of the papers that have formed the basis for the current activities of this working group (section B). Finally some information about IFIP TC-ll and its working groups is included (section C). This first working conference is the start for an ongoing dialog between the information security specialists and the internal control specialists so that both may work more effectively together to assist in creating effective business systems in the future.
