Operator theory, system theory, scattering theory, and the theory of analytic functions of one complex variable are deeply related topics, and the relationships between these theories are well understood. When one leaves the setting of one operator and considers several operators, the situation is much more involved. There is no longer a single underlying theory, but rather different theories, some of them loosely connected and some not connected at all. These various theories, which one could call'multidimensional operator theory', are topics of active and intensive research.The present volume contains a selection of papers in multidimensional operator theory. Topics considered include the non-commutative case, function theory in the polydisk, hyponormal operators, hyperanalytic functions, and holomorphic deformations of linear differential equations.The volume will be of interest to a wide audience of pure and applied mathematicians, electrical engineers and theoreticalphysicists.

This book presents an in-depth study on advances in constructive approximation theory with recent problems on linear positive operators. State-of-the-art research in constructive approximation is treated with extensions to approximation results on linear positive operators in a post quantum and bivariate setting. The book deals with the representation in series form of compact linear operators acting between Banach spaces, and provides an analogue of the classical Hilbert space results of this nature that have their roots in the work of D. Hilbert, F. Riesz and E. Schmidt. The representation involves a recursively obtained sequence of points on the unit sphere of the initial space and a corresponding sequence of positive numbers that correspond to the eigenvectors and eigenvalues of the map in the Hilbert space case. The lack of orthogonality is partially compensated by the systematic use of polar sets. There are applications to the p-Laplacian and similar nonlinear partial differential equations. Preliminary material is presented in the first chapter, the main results being established in Chapter 2. The final chapter is devoted to the problems encountered when trying to represent non-compact maps.

Aimed toward researchers, postgraduate students, and scientists in linear operator theory and mathematical inequalities, this self-contained monograph focuses on numerical radius inequalities for bounded linear operators on complex Hilbert spaces for the case of one and two operators. Students at the graduate level will learn some essentials that may be useful for reference in courses in functional analysis, operator theory, differential equations, and quantum computation, to name several. Chapter 1 presents fundamental facts about the numerical range and the numerical radius of bounded linear operators in Hilbert spaces. Chapter 2 illustrates recent results obtained concerning numerical radius and norm inequalities for one operator on a complex Hilbert space, as well as some special vector inequalities in inner product spaces due to Buzano, Goldstein, Ryff and Clarke as well as some reverse Schwarz inequalities and Grüss type inequalities obtained by the author. Chapter 3 presents recent results regarding the norms and the numerical radii of two bounded linear operators. The techniques shown in this chapter are elementary but elegant and may be accessible to undergraduate students with a working knowledge of operator theory. A number of vector inequalities in inner product spaces as well as inequalities for means of nonnegative real numbers are also employed in this chapter. All the results presented are completely proved and the original references are mentioned.

This book provides an introduction to propagator theory. Propagators, or evolution families, are two-parameter analogues of semigroups of operators. Propagators are encountered in analysis, mathematical physics, partial differential equations, and probability theory. They are often used as mathematical models of systems evolving in a changing environment. A unifying theme of the book is the theory of Feynman-Kac propagators associated with time-dependent measures from non-autonomous Kato classes. In applications, a Feynman-Kac propagator describes the evolution of a physical system in the presence of time-dependent absorption and excitation. The book is suitable as an advanced textbook for graduate courses.

Capturing the state of the art of the interplay between partial differential equations, functional analysis, maximal regularity, and probability theory, this volume was initiated at the Delft conference on the occasion of the retirement of Philippe Clément.
