This volume contains ten chapters that detail advances in animal science and zoology. Chapter One focuses on primary intracranial tumors in dogs, highlighting the three most prevalent types: meningiomas, gliomas, and choroid plexus tumors. Chapter Two aims to review the complex subject of vitamin A supplies for cattle. Chapter Three reveals significant correlations between underlying geology and the abundance of some species of mammal, even when other factors such as soil type, climate and vegetation are held constant. Chapter Four compares the diets and diet quality of two adjacent Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep herds with dissimilar population trends in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. Chapter Five discusses macrocyclic lactone-based tri-model therapy used to treat humpsore in cattle. Chapter Six summarizes research on the involvement of changes in intracellular cAMP concentrations in the fish and frog oocyte maturation-inducing pathway. Chapter Seven discusses natural law as a neglected resource in the discourse of animal rights. Chapter Eight studies the effect of urbanization on the Carabidae and Scarabaeidae families in Eskişehir Osmangazi University's Meşelik Campus and Meşelik Forest gradient. Chapter Nine presents the morphological characteristics of female Haemonchus contortus. Lastly, Chapter Ten discusses animal liberation versus animal resistance.

Chapter One reviews the ninety year period from 1925 to 2015 of working on cingulates cytogenetics, showing the importance of chromosomal analysis for the systematic identification of species and in making decisions about reproductive crosses in captive animals. In Chapter Two, the authors present an overview of the biology, economic impact, behavior, major outbreaks and possible prediction of attacks by the Moroccan locust Dociostaurus maroccanus (Thunberg). The mating strategy of the male desert locust Schistocerca gregaria depends on its capacity to increase their fitness. Chapter Three analyzes the choice made by the male when it has the possibility to choose between a mated or a non-mated female. Wolbachia is the most commonly occurring endosymbiotic bacteria in insects. Wolbachia selfishly manipulate the reproduction of hosts, resulting in cytoplasmic incompatibility between infected sperm and uninfected egg, and the death of male offspring by infected females. Chapter Four discusses previous Wolbachia studies of scolytine beetles and propose future Wolbachia studies using scolytine beetles, which may further elucidate the evolutionary influences of Wolbachia. Chapter Five provides a brief description of the biological features of the gypsy moth and the current methods of its control. In South America, the six-banded armadillo is constantly exploited as a source of food, even if biomedical research highlights its importance as natural reservoir hosts for the bacterium that causes leprosy (Mycobacterium leprae). Chapter Six covers the current knowledge on the reproductive aspects of the species, both for male and female, and to point some perspective of studies on assisted reproduction focused on its conservation or multiplication. Chapter Seven describes the anatomy of eight internal organs of the bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) and process them through plastination technique, characterizing and pondering the generation of useful structures for different purposes in field dolphins´ anatomy. Chapter Eight determines the profile of social alliances among bottlenose dolphin groups in northern Gulf of Mexico at Veracruz Sate, Mexico. Chapter Nine summarizes the main records obtained on the richness and ecology of species and communities of molluscs already recorded in marine ecosystems off the coast of Ceará in the central region of the semiarid coast of northeastern Brazil. Chapter Ten covers the existing literature on the morphology, pathology, distribution, diagnosis and control of gastrointestinal nematodes that cause fatal health problems.

This book, the first in the “Wildlife Research Monograph” series, defines “wildlife research” in a variety of contexts and reviews recent research trends. The authors present the current developments they have identified using bibliometric analyses of the most common, relevant and emerging topics in wildlife research over the last three decades. Diverse aspects of wildlife research are discussed, including wildlife demography, infections spread between wildlife, livestock and humans, habitat requirements and management, as well as the effects of renewable energy and pollutants on wildlife. Furthermore the authors explore topics like advances in the study of species distribution, invasive species, use of molecular markers in wildlife studies and the sustainability of wildlife exploitation and conservation conflicts. The book offers a comprehensive overview of advances in wildlife research in the last decades.

Wildlife Science: Connecting Research with Management provides strategies for bridging cultural and communication gaps between these groups.
