Concrete, High strength concrete
Abstract
This volume presents a wide-ranging review of the latest developments in concrete technology that have been largely missing from the global conference circuit. It the first major international event under the auspices of the Institute of Concrete Technology (ICT) and is appropriately located in the Middle East at the heart of a construction boom.
This book is devoted to two primary objectives. The first is to present the errors, inadaptability, and mistakes arising when the current theory on concrete is applied to explaining practical construction of concrete; the second is to put forward viewpoints in modern concrete science. Taking a number of engineering cases as examples, we experimentally studied and theoretically analyzed the errors, inadaptability, and mistakes when the current theory on concrete is applied to explaining practical construction of concrete. Moreover, we investigated the use of mixing ratios, aggregates, cement, hi.
This book contains fundamentals of the subject concrete technology such as hydration of cement, cement types, concrete making'materials, workability, hardened properties of concrete, durability, mixed design, chemical and mineral admixtures, special concretes, high performance concrete, self-compacting concrete, non-destructive testing, and waste materials in concrete. The book is the first of its kind incorporating high performance concrete, rheology of concrete, some sophisticated and special techniques in concrete technology, use of waste materials in concrete and geopolymer concrete. It will provide up to date information on the subject and ready reference of the relevant, codal provisions. The book will serve as a textbook at undergraduate level in Civil Engineering in Indian Universities, NITs and IITs. It has been written in a simple and lucid manner, incorporating the recent developments of the subject so that the future engineers are well acquainted with the subject during their undergraduate study.
A liberally illustrated account of how concrete can be used to create aesthetically pleasing designs. This is a visual feast of design and will be a source of inspiration for architects, designers and engineers.

Aggregates (Building materials), Concrete
Abstract
This book provides a detailed guide to the selection and use of aggregates in concrete. It presents an overview of aggregate sources and production techniques, followed by a detailed study of their physical, mechanical and chemical properties. Then it looks at the use of aggregates in both plastic and hardened concretes, and in the overall mix design. Special aggregates and their applications are discussed, as are the current main specifications, standards and tests.

Concrete roads, Concrete
Abstract
International Series of Monographs in Civil Engineering, Volume 4: Concrete in Highway Engineering focuses on the design and construction of highways. The book first offers information on concrete as a material. Cement, aggregates, water, concrete mixes, and curing concrete are then explained. The text examines the design of pavements. Principles of design, traffic loading, design of flexible and concrete pavements, and types of pavement are underscored. The text looks at subgrade soils, sub-bases, and drainage. Topics such as moisture control and drainage; control of surface and subsoil water; and layouts for subsoil drainage and for surface water drainage are discussed. The text also examines the composition of concrete roads, prestressed concrete roads, and maintenance and repair techniques. The book then discusses the appearance and surface characteristics of concrete and construction in extreme weather conditions. The selection is a reliable reference for readers wanting to know about the design and construction of highways.
