This book aims to share the theory and practice in innovative human/society-oriented information systems. The purpose of information technology is for people, communities, and societies, and we cannot ignore the human behavior and social features to design better information systems. The book includes the selected papers in the International Conference on Applied Informatics and Media Design 2019 (AIMD 2019) held at California State University, Bakersfield, USA, and International Conference on Applied Information Technologies 2021 (AIT 2021) held online, which are focused on information design, human–computer interaction, and social support systems. The book also contains multi-aspect contributions on applied informatics and media engineering, such as color design, online learning, creativity support, philosophical issues, elder treatment, AI, and business informatics.

This book examines theoretical and practical aspects of emerging technologies in e-service and artificial intelligence from an academic and professional viewpoint. To do so, it focuses on three major areas: the development of novel user support systems; development of smart mobility; and emerging technologies in Artificial Intelligence (AI). With regard to the development of novel user support systems, Chapter 1 introduces alternative ingredients recommendation using data on co-occurrence relation and ingredients categories to support cooking, while Chapter 2 introduces a study on location information inference using data acquired by low-energy Bluetooth devices. Turning to the development of smart mobility, Chapter 3 highlights a sustainable information infrastructure project for smart mobility systems. In addition, Chapter 4 presents a lifecycle-oriented development process to improve requirements and design in terms of uncertainties to provide sustainable information architectures for smart mobility.In the book's third and last part – emerging technologies in AI – Chapter 5 presents a summarization task for sports events on Twitter, focusing on an abstractive approach based on sub-events during the sports event. Chapter 6 discusses the generation of headlines using a recurrent neural network based on a machine translation approach. Lastly, Chapter 7 explores customer behavior analysis using enthusiasm analysis, an approach that estimates customers'activation levels. The book gathers a selection of the highest-quality papers presented at the 4th International Congress on Advanced Applied Informatics, held on July 12–16, 2015 in Okayama, Japan. Given the breadth of its coverage, it offers a valuable resource for practitioners, researchers and students alike.

This book introduces new trends of theory and practice of information technologies in tourism. The book does not handle only the fundamental contribution, but also discusses innovative and emerging technologies to promote and develop new generation tourism informatics theory and their applications. Some chapters are concerned with data analysis, web technologies, social media and their case studies. Travel information on the web provided by travelers is very useful for other travelers make their travel plan. A chapter in this book proposes a method for interactive retrieval of information on accommodation facilities to support travelling customers in their travel preparations. Also an adaptive user interface for personalized transportation guidance system is proposed. Another chapter in this book shows a novel support system for the collaborative tourism planning by using the case reports that are collected via Internet. Also, a system for recommending hotels for the users is proposed and evaluated. Other chapters are concerned with recommendation, personalization and other emerging technologies.

Electronic business today is not only business transactions supported in information and communication technologies; it is a new way of communicating and integrating with customers, suppliers, employees and other stakeholders. In this scenario, electronic business is now part of a wider economic context that is causing radical transformations in business and organizations including the entire value chain from customer service to supply chain management. One of the areas affected is marketing. Given that the new technologies have enabled firms to reach out to global customers and has provided them with the opportunity to customize their strategies and offerings in an unprecedented way, the dynamics of marketing must be surveyed in order to study the impact of new trends like mobile customer relationship management or mass customization on marketing function. Complex Automated Negotiations are a widely studied, emerging area in the field of Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems. In general, automated negotiations can be complex, since there are a lot of factors that characterize such negotiations. For this book, we solicited papers on all aspects of such complex automated negotiations, which are studied in the field of Autonomous Agents and Multi-Agent Systems. This book includes two parts, which are Part I: Agent-based Complex Automated Negotiations and Part II: Automated Negotiation Agents Competition. Each chapter in Part I is an extended version of ACAN 2011 papers after peer reviews by three PC members. Part II includes ANAC 2011 (The Second Automated Negotiating Agents Competition), in which automated agents who have different negotiation strategies and implemented by different developers are automatically negotiate in the several negotiation domains. ANAC is an international competition in which automated negotiation strategies, submitted by a number of universities and research institutes across the world, are evaluated in a tournament style. The purpose of the competition is to steer the research in the area of bilateral multi-issue, closed negotiation. This book includes rules, results, agents and domains descriptions for ANAC2011 submitted by organizers and finalists.

These factors include the number of issues, dependencies between these issues, representation of utilities, the negotiation protocol, the number of parties in the negotiation (bilateral or multi-party), time constraints, etc. Software agents can support automation or simulation of such complex negotiations on the behalf of their owners, and can provide them with efficient bargaining strategies. To realize such a complex automated negotiation, we have to incorporate advanced Artificial Intelligence technologies includes search, CSP, graphical utility models, Bayes nets, auctions, utility graphs, predicting and learning methods. Applications could include e-commerce tools, decision-making support tools, negotiation support tools, collaboration tools, etc. This book aims to provide a description of the new trends in Agent-based, Complex Automated Negotiation, based on the papers from leading researchers. Moreover, it gives an overview of the latest scientific efforts in this field, such as the platform and strategies of automated negotiating techniques.

Negotiation mechanisms have been studied widely in the?eld of multi-agent systems. They possess a variety of features that enable agents be negotiate with each other even in open environments. However, mainly because of l- ited computational power, there are several assumptions that traditionally limit the degree of openness. Recent studies have tended to focus on c- pletely open and highly uncertain environments that apply agent systems to the real world. For example, in emergency rescue domains, we cannot expect to know when and where a?re starts and when humans are likely to be - jured. Also, in Internet auctions, there can be shill bids since there are many unauthenticated participants. Nowadays, we can employ machines with large computational power to compute an optimal way for agents to negotiate, even incompletelyopenandhighlyuncertainenvironments. Forthepracticaluseof multi-agent systems in the real world, the reliability of each agent's behavior is essentially required. Concretely, agents must obtain the most appropriate solution/solutions based on rational, robust, and secure negotiation among multiple agents even if the environment is intractable. We solicit papers on all aspects of such negotiation mechanisms in multi-agent systems, including multi-issue negotiations, concurrent negotiations, strategy-proof mechanisms, rational argumentation, auctions and voting, and so on. These issues are - ing explored by researchers from di?erent communities in multi-agent s- tems. They are, for instance, being studied in agent negotiation, multi-issue negotiations, auctions, mechanism design, electronic commerce, voting, - cure protocols, matchmaking and brokering, argumentation, and co-operation mechanisms.

Electronic Commerce technologies have been studied widely in the field of Economics and Informatics. In recent years, there are multiple aspects of researches in electronic commerce including supply chain model, Internet auctions, Internet volume discounts, electronic bank and stock trading, and several others. The increase of Electronic Commerce research activities can be observed in a variety of the fields. The aim of this book is to encourage activities in this field, and to bring researchers with an interest in Electronic Commerce. This book is edited from some aspects of e-commerce researches including theoretical mechanism design of trading based on auctions, allocation mechanism based on negotiation among multi-agent, case-study and analysis of e-trading, data engineering issues in e-commerce, and so on.
