PRESIDENTS' spouses , *INTERNATIONAL relations - Abstract
The present study emerges from the need to study the factors that influenced the conformation of the role and media representation of the new or modern first ladies in Chile, especially Rosa Markmann -who held the position between 1946 and 1952-. In this investigation, the trans-Andean Eva Perón (Argentine first lady between 1945 and 1952) emerges as a key figure. Although Rosa and Evita did not know each other personally, we believe that the flow of press and ideas between the two countries may have influenced, or at least encouraged in some way, the Chilean first lady becoming a pioneer in terms of new characteristics that he gave to the role. In this paper we analyze three examples that aim to illustrate the idea raised as they reflect coincidences in their actions, however in all three cases, Eva was a pioneer and had great media coverage: in the field of social assistance, the two changed the traditional role of the first ladies in their respective countries, taking a step from charity towards a broad and organized social action policy; in the political field they coincided in their struggle to obtain the feminine vote; and in the field of international relations, they made trips abroad that were not without controversy and that reflect the global political tensions of the moment. Finally, we conclude that to study the role, its characteristics and mutations, not only should a look be taken at national factors, but it is always important to look at possible foreign influences since countries are and have always been part of the political, economic and world culture. In the last decade the Vaca Muerta area has been renowned, as a logistics epicenter in Añelo that is located 100 kms from Neuquén Capital. The volume of gas and oil reservoirs in the area puts feminist studies in the region on alert regarding the segregations that activity entails in the bodies of women who are directly affected by the impacts of hydrocarbon activity. In this sense, it is intended to make visible the claims that they carry out and account for some conditions. This paper aims to analyze certain disagreements between the productivist notion of business development that concentrates the extraction of hydrocarbons and the social demands around better conditions of urbanity or transfer in Añelo. There are poor living conditions, ignorance of pre-existing indigenous peoples and few environmental precautions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper aims to examine the way in which the Spanish school textbooks used during the Franco dictatorship, strongly impregnated with Catholic doctrine, contributed to the construction of a feminine identity centred around marriage and motherhood. It is historical-educational research that analyses two primary sources: the Encyclical Humanae Vitae by Pope Paul VI and the Álvarez Encyclopedia: Professional Initiation. The results reveal the existence of a hidden political-social curriculum whose main purpose was to legitimise a system of domination over the female gender. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents an exploratory work with descriptive analysis of more than nine hundred women accompaniments by Socorristas of La Pampa between 2015 and 2020. First of all, the article introduce the unique Socorristas device that allows to go through its feminist methodology of situated approach. Then, advance in the analysis on a selection of social, cultural, motivational, relationship, biographical data on the women accompanied in their decision process. The intention is to investigate, and interpret from a feminist perspective, sensitive variables that are part of their daily life, showing that decisions, especially related to motherhood and abortion, are complex, multidimensional and collective constructions. GENDER stereotypes , *VIOLENCE against women - Abstract
This paper analyzes the texts of two travelers who refer to the native women who inhabited the Buenos Aires campaign and the Patagonian north during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries: Guillermo Cox and Félix de Azara. We consider that their representations are influenced by the ideas of domesticity and morality in force in that period and provide us a distorted image, which we understand constitutes a type of symbolic violence. Both indigenous and "Chinese" women are relegated to domestic spaces which, although they are part of their daily environment, are presented as places where they can not only perform much of their tasks but also play important roles in the life maintenance, enjoying, in many cases, interference in the ownership and administration of property. In general, the evolutionary ideas in force at that time placed these societies in the less advanced stages of human progress. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

GENEALOGY in literature , *FEMINISM , *SPACETIME - Abstract
This paper seeks to address the issues implicated in the construction of feminist genealogies. The perspective adopted incorporates several tensions and dilemmas that pervade the feminist field: those arising from class inequalities, from the effects of racialization, and from geographical locations. It also deals with new transformations as the result of the increased participation of younger generations, which have created an age gap. Due to its recent exponential growth and increased public visibility, the feminism is facing complex challenges. On the one hand, we must bring together past and present, recalling the ways our feminist ancestors envisioned the warps and wefts and knots of the movement. We must carry out this work of weaving from Safina Newbery to Silvia Rivera Cusicanqui and Julieta Kirkwood. On the other hand, we must confront the effects of dispersions of age, political traditions, location, class, embodiment, identities, in a moment driven both by the internationalist spirit of the movement as well as its situated character, its local grounds. Methodologically, the work is based on the revision of theoretical debates as well as on documentary searches for the connections between past and present and for the links among the different spaces where feminists are intervening. GOVERNMENT policy , *GENDER identity - Abstract
This article is intended to give an account of an extremely interesting experience in the Municipality of Ituzaingó (MuI)--city where both authors live in--, in the western area of Greater Buenos Aires (GBA), where Municipal Public Policies include the Women, Genders, Diversity and Human Rights Council (CMGDyDH for its Spanish acronym), entity responsible not only for various functions, but for trying to prevent the local patriarchal system from continuing imposing itself through culture, society and economy, among other disciplines and practices, not allowing women's empowerment. We aim at conducting an analysis of the Gender-sensitive policies carried out by the CMGDyDH in the MuI, which are developed in a national context of different achievements reached by the feminist movement during the last years. Our question is whether it would be possible to weaken or avoid the patriarchal system, at least in the medium term, in the local context. We are aware that structural changes arise from asocial base, with a multiplier effect towards the super-structural framework, process which we would like to see materialized in order to reach equity and gender social inclusion. One of the general objectives of this article consists in revising theoretically and empirically the possible definition and construction of those intervention and formulation methods of integral Social Policies, in a collective and dialectal manner. The pillars of analysis of this article are: -Past budgetary achievements at national and provincial level, and within the MuI, with a gender-based approach. -Goals accomplished at an institutional, legislative and Public Policies level, with a gender perspective. The first part of this article (I) includes general aspects of Feminist Economics (FE) and the second one (II) consist of a description of the activities carried out by the CMGDyDH in the MuI, its objectives, and an analytical relation with the first part of the article. The second part derives from the Final Research Paper by BSW. Marta Rosendo, presented in the Women and Gender Specialization, at Universidad de Luján. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Argentine Patagonia was incorporated to the national State late in the last decades of the 19th century, after the end of the bloody military campaign that sought state control of the indigenous territory of the south. From then until the 1930s the process of providing educational institutions to the vast Patagonian territory was discontinuous, slow and very uneven in the different regional spaces, intensifying in the urban nuclei and becoming invisible in the Patagonian mesetaria zone. In this context, it is the purpose of this paper to analyze the trajectories of female students and teachers in the first half of the 20th century from the perspective of those who exercised direct authority over them: principals -mostly males- and school inspectors. We are interested in analyzing, from a gender perspective, the presence of teachers in the classrooms, the desired behaviors and the goals to be met according to pedagogical and axiological considerations, within the framework of a normalizing and prescriptive process. For this purpose, we have used a vast array of sourcesreferring to the National Territory of Rio Negro, including school historical books, inspection reports, school concepts teachers, school visit books, school reports, regional and national press articles. FEMINISM , *RACISM , *GENDER studies , *UNPAID labor - Abstract
Recent investigations on gender have shown that they do not constitute a multi-centered arena of knowledge production. But, that there is a clear division between center and peripherias, strongly influenced by the United States as a hegemonic centre in theoretical production (Wöhrer, 2016). This paper follows Walter Benjamin's suggestion to write a countercurrent History, which means, firstly, to appropriate critical elements to denounce various faces of epistemic injustice (Fricker, 2007). This concept will help us to illustrate how in Latin America, materialist francophone feminism interweaved together many other silenced contributions. To reconstruct those streams is political as it restitutes a plurality of voices and exhibits how epistemic or cognitive extractivism favors feminism not only to revise theories but also practices. This is how Colette Guillaumin's critical Concepts help to revise and give voice to many "mude concepts" present in the Gender Studies Western Canon, especially when analyzing racism. The paper examines the positions taken by European feminists during World War I, a fact which divided waters between the pacifists and warmongers. Pacifists women held the International Congress of The Hague in 1915 that requested the immediate end of the war. The pacifist women of social democracy also met in Bern, Switzerland as opposed to their male peers, who voted for war credits. The war broke feminism that could only compose herself about demand rights after 1918. The paper also analyzes the thought of Virginia Woolf against the war in her book “Three Guineas”. She blames the patriarchy by wars, but she says that wars can be sustained with the cooperation of women. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

HABITATS , *GENDER , *EQUALITY - Abstract
This study about inequality(s) occupies a relevant space in therecentacademic contributions from looks that suppose to privilege generally omitted categories, overcoming a traditional area that prioritizes income inequalities. The urban space is also analyzed in the (re) production of the social inequality in the Latin-American cities (Segura, 2014). The predominance of the inequality in the centerperiphery scheme of metropolitan structure reinforces the model of city that does not manage to conquer the invisible barriers placed daily in the life of the population (Caldeira, 2000). Such barriers are remeasured from the complexity of the metropolis producing inequalities on multiple scales. This work is part of an investigation on public policies of habitat from emergent approaches. In previous instances we approach gender constructions in the speeches and practices of the habitat policies implemented in Tucumán in the 2004-2008. Between 2007 and 2015 a series of institutional, legislative and legal changes took place in Argentina with the aim expandingrights and social and gender equality. These must be considered to think today challenges in the equity agendas. From the disciplinary perspective of urbanism, the 21st century finds us with problems and challenges raised global level regarding inclusion in cities. From research instances and collective reflection processes on Latin American metropolises, similar dynamics linked to metropolitan expansion, inequality and vulnerability are evident in the 2005-2015 period. Both lines research, the one that links politics and gender and the one related to the metropolitan agenda and rights, dialogue in this article. Some questions that guide the work refer to: what implies thinking today and in our context, in more inclusive and democratic cities? Which are the advances and challenges of the public policies developed in the last decade? What gender inequalities come together in metropolitan spaces? What answers does the urban agenda demand? This paper presents some reflections on how gender inequalities are expressed in the metropolitan area of Tucumán and on the level of responses, the challenges of the urban and metropolitan agenda regarding the incorporation of human rights and gender equality. Women and Gender Studies invite us to re-read the role that is said women have developed by the different historiographical trends, which generally coincide in supporting the hegemonic gender ideology. Thus, the funding myths that support patriarchate leak historical discourses that settle in common sense women whose lives result anecdotic, never trascendental for history. This paper attempts to revise part of what has been said about Paula Albarracín, and to analize the facts that might have had incidence in remembering her as "Sarmiento's mother", "an illiterate woman who knitted", when even in the most conservative papers one can see that she was a woman with interests and practices that, undoubtedly, left a mark in Sarmiento. The present article analyzes experiences of women in Self-managed work projects in the province of La Pampa. Several papers address the legal and administrative problematic issues that groups of workers face at the time of self managing their work projects. However, little has been said about the additional obstacles faced by women who try to formalize their entrepeneurship, which include gender inequality issues. Our work intends to be a gender-minded contribution, attending the intersection between work and social issues like class, gender and geographical region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ANCIENT philosophy , *DEMETER (Greek deity) , *CYBELE (Goddess) - Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to review some (pre-)historical assumptions beneath the classical Greek philosophy, that go back to the phrygian Great Mother, from which radiate over Minoan Crete, and reach continental Greece particularly through the institution of Eleusinian mysteries. The Great Goddess symbolizes an ontological, ethical and religious conception that has left its marks throughout the Mediterranean watershed, in elements such as the cavern, double-edged ax, butterfly-psyche, mystery initiation, sacramental renaissance, ecstatic dances, etc. Despite being savagely destroyed by the invasion of Indo-European patriarchy, such marks remain in the hidden substrate of hegemonic culture. Since the return to democracy in our country, many different movements, having different aims appeared. Among them, those which would struggle for the defence of women’s rights. The province of La Pampa has not been exempt from this fenomenon. In a period of more than three decades flourished in the pampean social scenery several movements. Nontheless, it is about the end of the 20th century that many other emerged, whose objectives are clearly feminist, and they are bound to the express defence of women’s rights. This is the case of Movement for Women’s Rights of General Pico”, subject of study in this paper. Adopting a regional perspective, from a gender viewpoint, this research is powered by the following questionings: Did the constitution of this movement implied a resignification and reconstruction of both, individual and collective identities of its members? In what sense? In which context do they decide to group? Which were, a still are their aims? Which lines of action do they have? Have they achieved any goals? Which ones? [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper we aim to search, starting from the iconographic repertory, which was the image of Patagonian aboriginal women constructed through the almost exclusive male point of view. These men were those who visited or take care of the inhabitants of this territory since its discovery. We speak of "Construction" because we supposed that the images are transmitters. conscious or unconscious. of our ideas. We understand that those who produced them registered their particular perception of the reality, that is to say, theyexpressed in the images their own look of the world embedded in the social and cultural frame of the time. To achieve this objective we will take sorne cases that can exemplify this process. We will also take in account the congruence between the written text, the visual text and the material record. FEMINISM education , *LOVE , *INTERPERSONAL relations , *EDUCATION - Abstract
Heterosexuallove relationships have become a central object of study for feminist theory in the 21st century, on the one hand, because of the way they maintain and reproduce gender inequality in a context of democracy, freedom and formal equality, and on the other hand, because of the deep transformations that significances of love and couple have undergone when these values have spread to the intimate sphere. In line with these approaches, this paper analyzes, from the results obtained in a PHD thesis, the possible influence of gender inequality on the perception and resolution of conflicts, expressed by heterosexual persons with respect to their intimate relationships. Research results lead to the conclusion that conflict may be a key question for the analysis of gender inequality as, on the one hand, it is an expression of feminine dissatisfaction generated by the inequalitarian dynamics that take place in the heterosexual íntímacy, and on the other hand, because it demands an intervention that tends to reinforce traditional gender roles. This paper deals about the quick changes in the constitution of a familiar pattem and other topics of female sexual moral, between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It attempts to identify the mechanisms that led women to adopt a more rigid sexual moral, with stereotyped forms of generic relations and a passíve, subordinated role of women. Through a "great man" of Pampas, as a "guardian" of the local young women -as showed in the thirty-four letters written between August 1903 and september 1904- we analyzed the relationships among· the "honourable residents" of the community,' and the moral principIes exalted in the speech. The collectives that face politically the dominant order produce discourses through which they discuss, at various levels, those stereotypes imposed by the dominant discourse. In cases of lesbian collectives, those emerging representations redefine derogatory clichés or stereotyped poses. This paper proposes a critical reading of the http:j j adoratrixsdelavlvapeluda.blogspot.com; http:f j escritosheréticos.blogspot.com and http:j jmalascomolasa.blogspot.comj blogs, in order to study their discursive modes and polítical poses linked to the ethos that those building identities assume, tensioned between the need of images to be identified in connection with a group and the recognition of the oppressive nature of the concept of identity. If this is defined from an illusory consensus, little sensitive to difference and multiplicity, Sylvia Molloy' s concept of pose redefines identity as something transient, arbitrary or eccentric, open to the possibility of being other / s. This analysis focuses on subjectivity and language and relationship with other/ s, to try an approach to the forms assumed by the ethos in those discourses, as a cultural sign that tries to escape the identity mandates of the dominant culture. This paper presents advances in research and extension work with groups of women workers who display livelihood strategies and income generation as a group in the period 2001-2012, in Santa Rosa, La Pampa. The recovery phase of economic and labor market recovery from 2002, did not impact on society in an equitable manner, the lower-income social sectors continued to develop low-profit activities in the field of informal market and precarious. Access to work, and the conditions under which it develops, demonstrates a heterogeneous scenario, unequal and exclusionary. Gender inequalities are added to the class, and the difficulties of access to remunerated activities, the study population adds a huge burden of unpaid domestic work - care - for which there is a gap in the design of public policy, which exposes them to new inequalities. Economies of poverty, work and collective action, empowerment of women, new work identities, inequalities, segregation; intersect in interpretive and are embodied in each of the workers. This paper addresses the participation of women in trade unionism in Argentina. The purpose is to analyze and reflect on positive action measures such as quota female union how to achieve a greater presence of women in political bodies and power of unions. We assume that within the trade union the problem concerning the actual relationship between affiliation and representation in trade unions is asymmetric, the descent is greater than the representation that hold women within the unions, which believe is due to the lack of trust within the male leaders in women's leadership capabilities and proposed new guidelines within union structures. We believe that this positive action measure would allow a cultural change to have any chance of access of women in decision- making of trade unions of strong androcentric key. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Women were then distinguished only by their ethnic and class origins, which included indigenous, Chilean and European immigrants. They were unified by their subordination to male mandates. Within this regional environment I tried to examine the role played by the immigrant women in the first half of the twentieth century; who live their life trough multiple activities in their home and for their family. Women who were usually a forgotten issue for historians. The aim of this paper is to contribute, from a regional and gender perspective, to the history studies of these women. Women who were active participants in the migration process, and had an important role in biological and cultural society reproduction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of the paper lies in analyzing the nature of political participation of women within the various human rights organizations in the province of La Pampa, rescuing them as historical subjects and protagonists of our history. We start to understand participation as a way of self-asserting in society as a legitimate way of claiming our rights as citizens and the citizenship as appropriative practice of existing rights and producer of new rights. It is in the field of human rights organizations at national and local level where participation in general and women in particular enabled the reconstruction of the threads of community and political solidarity corrupted by systematical state violence. Through oral history, is to rescue the voices of women who were active participants in the task of establishing, in pampas society in particular and Argentina in general, demand for justice and the recovery of individual and collective rights. This paper sinthesizes a research that traces the political biography of Mujeres por la Solidaridad, an activist gender group in La Pampa province. The essay describes and analyses the action repertoire of this group with a communicational dimension as one of its identifying features. It is emphasized in its political history the use of cases of public interest to intervene in the media statement, politicize it and influence not only in the language and presentation forms but also in the media agenda so that gender issues were included and considered. Considering the agenda setting role of the press, it produces and reproduces fundamental social significations, and by advocacy and lobby strategies the group impels gender claims supported by the capital given by the local public visibility. In its agenda, Mujeres por la Solidaridad, which acts within the framework of wide women's movement of Argentina, includes issues such as the reproductive rights, violence against women and the traffic in women at the same time that it develops its own strategies. WOMEN , *SEXUAL division of labor , *SEX role & globalization - Abstract
In this paper I present the collective experience of a group of women that runs a community library in the neighborhood of La Sirena in the city of Neuquén. I set the framework of this experience in two contexts: globalization and the particular stage in the life of each of the women involved. The first one allows to see how the local area, the neighborhood, is resignified as a microworld as well as the role that women play in it; the second allows to look into how each one builds her identity as a woman in relation to volunteer and free work and how they deal with the changes imposed both by today's world and by the "second life of women." From the dialogue between these two contexts there arises a tension between what is public and what is private, between the local and the global, between paid time and donated time, between the social and the particular, between the inside and the outside. When each pair is analyzed from a gender perspective, this tension is reconceputalized and makes visible the way in which the unequal relations between men and women is expressed and reproduced in the organization of the territory. The paper we will submit inquires, in the first place, into the construction of opinion records, as gathered from newspapers, about the concepts that underlie the accepted social and cultural models: what a woman is, what heterosexuality is, what homosexuality is; the family, divorce, violence and, in the second place, it proposes a critical reading of these opinion makers in order to reveal the construction of a sexist speech about women, in this case anchored on violence. The sources we will use are: newspaper information gathered between 2003 and 2008 from two Buenos Aires newspapers, Clarín and La Nación. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article focalizes the musical activity in Neuquen from a gender perspective. In this sense, we have explored diverse scopes in which this activity is developed, investigating about the meaning and representations constructed by women and men about the paper of first in both popular an academic music. The gender perspective, relatively recent in the musicological theory, has been influenced by of the postmodern philosophies and their critics to the vanguardistas postulates of musical autonomy. In the methodologic plane, we have privileged the ethnographic method and with techniques of participant observation and structured interviews semi. These have been made to women professional interpreters or semiprofessional of the music of the city of Neuquen, having like such that makes with certain regularity a musical public execution, even though, as it happens in most of the musicians and neuquinos musics, it is not that unique or main work. The paper explores one of the most relevant current issues for women in Argentina: female heads of household and leadership in certain Socio-Economic Community Organizations (OESC). In general terms, both in Latin America and Argentina, being a Female Head of Household and a OESCs leader can be a form of employment for single women who have no regular companion, or even if they do, it is up to the women to provide for the daily sustenance and make decisions for the whole family group. This situation is in turn compounded by the analysis of women's responsibility in the activities of daily reproduction within the family in the Domestic Unit (UD). We believe a gender perspective enhances the analysis of women's participation and leadership in the neighborhoods of the popular sectors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

During last years as much in the frame of the celebration of the 100 years public festivities of both most important cities located in the Gulf San Jorge basin (Comodoro Rivadavia and Caleta Olivia) as in the most recent commemoration of the centenary of the discovery of the oil in the zone, women appropriated diverse uses of the past to ask for the right to have a past. Beyond the public festivities which were arranged from the official sphere, the petroleum companies or the mass media, an important group of women organized different commemoration practices; the publication of books and photographic samples stood out among them. It has allowed a fruitful exchange among people who are in the academy and out of it. In the paper I try to show that this memoralist outbreak in terms of gender, having revalued topics such as the child-rearing, the family care, the informal sociability puts the emphasis on the domesticity and the exaltation of the kinship networks to emphasize the rol of women in that past. As the cult of motherhood represented social inclusion for these women, in this work I suggest that it is again the articulation of women - maternity - family - history - nation what returns to center stage, but those who promote such social commemoration practices have created places of memory in the center of the sphere of production: places where the men had dominated historically. Taking into account that the last period of a century can be thought as a time of change and crisis, in this paper, I intend to examine some texts of two Argentinean writers from the Modernist Movement, which took place at the end of the Nineteenth Century in Latin America, Leopoldo Lugones and Atilio Chiáppori. Feminist theories and research on the Modernist Movement itself have provided the basis for this article that focuses on gender representations and the construction of female subjectivity in Las montañas del oro, by Leopoldo Lugones, and on some stories from Bordeland and La eterna angustia by Atilio Chiáppori. The objective of this paper is to present the theoretical progress that relates the problems concerning criminal law, procedural criminal law, gender theory and feminism, making a brief description of the contribution given by national and foreign authors. It tries to reach a theoretical perspective that helps the critic interpretations of criminal law and preserves the non-discriminatory bias of gender theory and feminism, as long as disciplines belonging to the human rights paradigm. The last issue is not always possible to reach, since contradictions and valuable contributions, although tense among them, can be found. On the one hand, those tensions between gender theory and criminal law difficult the possibility of having an extensive discourse about the needs of specific groups, especially women that are caught in the punitive power nets. On the other hand, the same tensions lead to the discussion about women and the judicial discourse, as this is a powerful instrument that creates law subject and crystallizes social relationships. The aim of this paper is to examine three concepts, gender equality, civil society and citizenship, in order to understand what kind of relationship there is between them, and to observe how the feminist agenda might gain from such a relationship. In the revision of feminist history, the link between civil society, citizenship and state appears as the logical development in the struggle for feminist demands. Late 19th century and early 20th century feminist groups are a good example of how women have been very successful in forming associational groups as part of civil society and have claimed the rights that states have finally incorporated through equality policies and laws. Current democratic states have achieved a high level of legal equality, mainly through the mechanism of citizenship, but this mechanism does not seem empowered to undo other constraints that women suffer, especially cultural, social and economic constraints. In searching these inequalities we may find that the civil society arena is much tougher than that represented by a democratic state. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the current history of ideas and intellectual itineraries, it is very rare to find studies on the circulation of religious ideas associated to social environments and power relations in early modernity. This paper analyzes the conflicts that prompted the intervention of the Holy Office of the Inquisition in the monastery of St. Placid in the early seventeenth century. The authors locate this analysis at the intersection of the new studies on the Catholic identity of the Habsburg monarchy, the inquisitional trials, the birth of a novel individualism, the contrasts between a refined theological culture --always on the lookout for any signs of deviation from orthodoxy-- and ancient religious beliefs, and lastly, the infernal and external rivalries of the conventual community. The research is based on the official correspondence (letters) between the accused, and between them and high-ranking figures, testimonies, and memorials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Women's socio-cultural and gender studies have contributed to new knowledge on the social and cultural construction of the relations between men and women in specific spatial and time contexts. This paper analyzes how several museums of the Province of Buenos Aires created through popular initiatives have organized different spaces ("Rostros de La Pampa", in San Antonio de Areco). Women's power is an issue which historiography, in particular that one which takes gender as an analytic category, is paying special attention to. In this paper, we would like to present and study two aspects under consideration. Firstly, the roles that Doña Leonor de Guzmán and Doña Mariana de Austria played during Alfonso XI and Carlos II reigns, respectively; secondly, the way historiography dealt with the topic of power exercised in each of these cases. On the one hand, Doña Leonor de Guzmán exercised her power in Castilla-León kingdom in the time she had a love affair with Alfonso XI which lasted twenty years (1330-1350). During that period she acted as a royal concubine. On the other hand, Doña Mariana de Austria, was king Felipe IV legitimate wife, and she acted as the regent queen (1665-1675) during prince Carlos II child-hood. Taking these differences into account, we will deal with the role each of them played and the cultural, social and political circumstances that allowed them to exercise a royal power, that is to say, empowerment. This paper is a comprehensive analysis of Argentinean historiographic memory as regards the condition of women and gender studies. It is a state-of-the-art work on the historical discipline in this field and refers both to the precursory works from before the 1980's and to the activities carried out by an ever-increasing number of agents, at the moment when historiography was legitimated in our country, by the mid 80's. This expansion coincides with a series of phenomena, both internal and external, among which we may point out the outstanding renewal and spread of feminist studies, epistemological changes, transformations in social history, the international growth of gender historiography, together with the social and political changes that took place in Argentina with the return of democracy and the new approaches introduced in the academic context with the advent of studies on women and gender. There exists a conceptual attempt to typify these contributions which evince both their lines of strength and also those aspects still awaiting historical probe. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Social Representations turn the unfamiliar into something familiar through anchoring and objectifying; it consists in making ‘for the invisible to become perceptible’ They are that which emerge as the product of values, ideas and knowledge while individuals are trying to make sense of their physical and social environment, and at the same time, SR are systems which produce practices. In this paper we assess SR about aging, in a gender regard, as constructional processes. Our findings we present here are the answers to some questions about the first two terms associated with ‘elder person’, ‘aged man’ and ‘aged woman’.
