Sustainability is the major issue of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) all across the globe. Although SMEs contribute to GDP of any country their negative contribution to environment is also significant. Prior studies on SMEs' sustainability mainly classified into three categories—the correlation between environmental and social practices with economic performance, sustainable supply chain performance measurement, and empirical research on sustainability practices. There is no study that objectively derives the sustainable structure of SMEs through optimal combination of sustainability practices (inputs) and performance (outputs). Therefore, the main objective of this paper is to generate optimal structure of sustainable SMEs by combining neural network and particle swarm algorithm while considering Multi-Objective framework. The study uses data from 54 SMEs of Normandy in France and 30 SMEs of Midlands in the UK. The data was gathered through questionnaire survey. As we do not have the explicit expression of our objective functions, we train a neural network on our databases in order to enable the generation of value of the different objectives for any profile. We design and run a multi-objective version of particle swarm optimization (MPSO) to generate efficient companies' structures. The weighted sum method is then used for different weights. The multiperiod vehicle routing problem with profit (mVRPP) is a selective vehicle routing problem where the planning horizon of each vehicle is divided into several periods. The aim of solving mVRPP is to design service itineraries so that the total amount of collected profit is maximized and the travel time limit of each period is respected. This problem arises in many real life applications, as the one encountered in cash-in-transit industry. In this paper, we present a metaheuristic approach based on the particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO) to solve the mVRPP. Our approach incorporates an efficient optimal split procedure and dedicated local search operators proposed to guarantee high search intensification. Experiments conducted on an mVRPP benchmark show that our algorithm outperforms the state of the art metaheuristic approaches in terms of performance and robustness. Our PSO algorithm determines all the already known optimal solutions within a negligible computational time and finds 88 strict improvements among the 177 instances of the benchmark. In this paper, we study risk-averse models for multicriteria optimization problems under uncertainty. We use a weighted sum-based scalarization and take a robust approach by considering a set of scalarization vectors to address the ambiguity and inconsistency in the relative weights of each criterion. We model the risk aversion of the decision makers via the concept of multivariate conditional value-at-risk ( CVaR). First, we introduce a model that optimizes the worst-case multivariate CVaR and show that its optimal solution lies on a particular type of stochastic efficient frontier. To solve this model, we develop a finitely convergent delayed cut generation algorithm for finite probability spaces. We also show that the proposed model can be reformulated as a compact linear program under certain assumptions. In addition, for the cut generation problem, which is in general a mixed-integer program, we give a stronger formulation than the existing ones for the equiprobable case. Next, we observe that similar polyhedral enhancements are also useful for a related class of multivariate CVaR-constrained optimization problems that has attracted attention recently. In our computational study, we use a budget allocation application to benchmark our proposed maximin type risk-averse model against its risk-neutral counterpart and a related multivariate CVaR-constrained model. The problem ( LFP) of finding a feasible solution to a given linear semi-infinite system arises in different contexts. This paper provides an empirical comparative study of relaxation algorithms for ( LFP). In this study we consider, together with the classical algorithm, implemented with different values of the fixed parameter (the step size), a new relaxation algorithm with random parameter which outperforms the classical one in most test problems whatever fixed parameter is taken. This new algorithm converges geometrically to a feasible solution under mild conditions. This paper investigates the two-dimensional strip packing problem considering the case in which items should be arranged to form a physically stable packing satisfying a predefined item unloading order from the top of the strip. The packing stability analysis is based on conditions for the static equilibrium of rigid bodies, differing from others strategies which are based on area and percentage of support. We consider an integer linear programming model for the strip packing problem with the order constraint, and a cutting plane algorithm to handle stability, leading to a branch-and-cut approach. We also present two heuristics: the first is based on a stack building algorithm; and, the last is a slight modification of the branch-and-cut approach. The computational experiments show that the branch-and-cut model can handle small and medium-sized instances, whereas the heuristics found almost optimal solutions quickly for several instances. The data placement problem arises in the design and operation of Content Delivery Networks-computer systems used to efficiently distribute Internet traffic to the users by replicating data objects (media files, applications, database queries, etc.) and caching them at multiple locations in the network. This allows not only to reduce the processing load on the server hardware, but also helps eliminating transmission network congestion. Currently all major Internet content providers entrust their offered services to such systems. In this paper we formulate the data placement problem as quadratic binary programming problem, taking into account server processing time, storage capacity and communication bandwidth. Two decomposition-based solution approaches are proposed: the Lagrangian relaxation and randomized rounding. In this paper a new tool for simultaneous optimisation of decisions on multiple time scales is presented. The tool combines the dynamic properties of Markov decision processes with the flexible and compact state space representation of LImited Memory Influence Diagrams ( Limids). A temporal version of Limids, TemLimids, is defined by adding time-related functions to utility nodes. As a result, expected discounted utility, as well as expected relative utility might be used as optimisation criteria in TemLimids. Optimisation proceeds as in ordinary Limids. A sequence of such TemLimids can be used to model a Markov Limid Process, where each TemLimid represents a macro action. Algorithms are presented to find optimal plans for a sequence of such macro actions. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid algorithm for the Hamiltonian cycle problem by synthesizing the Cross Entropy method and Markov decision processes. In particular, this new algorithm assigns a random length to each arc and alters the Hamiltonian cycle problem to the travelling salesman problem. Thus, there is now a probability corresponding to each arc that denotes the probability of the event 'this arc is located on the shortest tour.' Those probabilities are then updated as in cross entropy method and used to set a suitable linear programming model. If the solution of the latter yields any tour, the graph is Hamiltonian. Numerical results reveal that when the size of graph is small, say less than 50 nodes, there is a high chance the algorithm will be terminated in its cross entropy component by simply generating a Hamiltonian cycle, randomly. Nested and co-nested formulas are two classes of CNF instances that can be characterized in terms of outerplanar graphs. For these classes, linear time algorithms are known for SAT and (unweighted) Max-SAT. In this paper we devise linear time algorithms for a general optimization version of SAT. Moreover, we show that a general probabilistic version of SAT reduces to solving a system of linear inequalities where the number of variables and constraints is linear in the size of the formula.
