In this paper written by the Groupe francophone d’he´patologie, gastroente´rologie et nutrition pe´diatriques, recommandations are given on the indications of drugs in infant and child infectious acute diarrhea, based upon the current scientific knowledge on their effectiveness and tolerance. This paper complements an article on nutritional treatment of acute diarrhea written by the Comite´ de nutrition de la Socie´te´ franc¸aise de pe´diatrie, and published in the same issue of the Archives de Pe´diatrie. Abstract: Although treatment of gastroesophageal reflux is commonly prescribed in pediatrics, an examination of the scientific literature seems worthy. First, this paper develops the treatment options of gastroesophageal reflux and analyses the different studies aimed at demonstrating their efficacy. Evidence-based data are scant either for dietetic and postural advice or drugs prescriptions. Evidence does exist for thickened feeding, some prokinetics and proton pump inhibitors only. Secondly, a treatment strategy based on these data is proposed according to the different situations in current practice. An appraisal of the therapeutic approach of this frequent and mild child''s disease appears necessary. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Summary: Central venous catheterizations are often used in pediatric intensive care units or for long-term intravenous treatment. It consists in positioning the catheter extremity in the venous cava–right atrium junction. Adapted material and techniques are necessary for young children because of particularities in anatomy and the size of the different venous trunks. The aim of this paper is to present the different material and techniques and to show the indications, complications and follow-up in central venous catheterization for young children.
