Humane Borders provides humanitarian assistance to migrants in the Arizona and California deserts. While their mission is broad, including advocating for legal status for undocumented workers, they have received the most publicity for the water stations they maintain in the sweltering deserts. This paper discusses the ethics of responsibility enacted by this very local, immediate, and in their own words "interim moral response." The practices of Humane Borders illustrate the anti-essentialist sensibility of human responsibility articulated by Derrida?s deconstruction. ..PAT.-Conference Proceeding [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
