Throughout the last decades, we have witnessed phenomena of social protest, collective actions and organization with a strong youth component all over the world. This greater visibility of youth as a differentiated political subject with their own demands and actions has gone hand in hand with the consolidation of these studies. In this context, the paper aims to answer what moves young people to participate in youth collective actions. Methodologically, the research is qualitative, with an interpretative perspective. We work with a multiple case study consisting of a popular library and a cultural center. Both are located in popular neighborhoods in the metropolitan area of Mendoza, Argentina, and are representative of other youth experiences that are far from the formal structures of political participation. The motivational universe and the affective field of participatory practices are explored. We conclude that there is an individual motivation that can only be solved collectively and that, in this process, the peer group nourishes the daily experience with meaning, it builds an enabling linking support for collective actions and generates an emotional community that operates as a means and as an end of these actions.
