With the widespread adoption of cloud computing, the face verification process often requires the client to upload the face to an untrusted cloud server to obtain the verification results. Privacy leakage issues may arise if the client's private information is not protected. This paper proposes a secure and anonymous face verification scheme using fully homomorphic encryption technology and SealPIR. Our scheme is a three-party solution that requires a third-party server trusted by the client. This scheme not only prevents the client's facial data from being obtained by untrusted data servers but also prevents the data server from learning the index corresponding to the face that the client wants to verify. In a single-face verification process, the client only needs to perform one upload operation and one download operation, with a communication volume of 264 KB. Predicting the remaining useful life (RUL) of lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries is crucial to preventing system failures and enhancing operational performance. Knowing the RUL of a battery enables one to perform preventative maintenance or replace the battery before its useful life expires, which is vital in safety-critical applications. The prediction of the RUL of Li-ion batteries plays a critical role in their optimal utilization throughout their lifetime and supporting sustainable practices. This paper conducts a comparative analysis to assess the effectiveness of multiple machine learning (ML) models in predicting the capacity fade and RUL of Li-ion batteries. Three case studies are analyzed to assess the performances of the state-of-the-art ML models, considering two distinct datasets. These case studies are conducted under various operating conditions such as temperature, C-rate, state of charge (SOC), and depth of discharge (DOD) of the batteries in Cases 1 and 2, and a different set of features and charging policies for the second dataset in Case 3. Meanwhile, diverse extracted features from the initial cycles of the second dataset are considered in Case 3 to predict the RUL of Li-ion batteries in all cycles. In addition, a multi-feature multi-target (MFMT) feature mapping is introduced to investigate the performance of the developed ML models in predicting the battery capacity fade and RUL in the entire life cycle. Multiple ML models that are developed for the comparison analysis in the proposed methodology include Random Forest (RF), extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), light gradient-boosting machine (LightGBM), multi-layer perceptron (MLP), long short-term memory (LSTM), and attention-LSTM. Furthermore, hyperparameter tuning is applied to improve the performance of the XGBoost and LightGBM models. The results demonstrate that the extreme gradient boosting with hyperparameter tuning (XGBoost-HT) model outperforms the other ML models in terms of the root-mean-squared error (RMSE) and mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of the battery capacity fade and RUL for all cycles. The obtained RMSE and MAPE values for XGBoost-HT in terms of cycle life are 69 cycles and 6.5%, respectively, for the third case. In addition, the XGBoost-HT model handles the MFMT feature mapping within an acceptable range of RMSE and MAPE, compared to the rest of the developed ML models and similar benchmarks. Neuropsychiatric disorders affect the lives of individuals from cognitive, emotional, and behavioral aspects, impact the quality of their lives, and even lead to death. Outside the medical area, these diseases have also started to be the subject of investigation in the field of Artificial Intelligence: especially Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer Vision. The usage of NLP techniques to understand medical symptoms eases the process of identifying and learning more about language-related aspects of neuropsychiatric conditions, leading to better diagnosis and treatment options. This survey shows the evolution of the detection of linguistic markers specific to a series of neuropsychiatric disorders and symptoms. For each disease or symptom, the article presents a medical description, specific linguistic markers, the results obtained using markers, and datasets. This paper presents a formal security analysis of the ISA100.11a standard protocol using the Colored Petri Net (CPN) modeling approach. Firstly, we establish a security threat model for the ISA100.11a protocol and provide a detailed description and analysis of the identified security threats. Secondly, we use the CPN tool to model the protocol formally and conduct model checking and security analysis. Finally, we analyze and discuss the results of the model checking, which demonstrate that the ISA100.11a standard protocol may have vulnerabilities when certain security threats exist, and provide some suggestions to enhance the security of the protocol. The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) of British Columbia suggested that a paradigm shift from weight to well-being could address the unintended consequences of focusing on obesity and improve the outcomes of efforts to address the challenges facing both individuals and our healthcare system. In this paper, we jointly used artificial intelligence (AI) and participatory modeling to examine the possible consequences of this paradigm shift. Specifically, we created a conceptual map with 19 experts to understand how obesity and physical and mental well-being connect to each other and other factors. Three analyses were performed. First, we analyzed the factors that directly connect to obesity and well-being, both in terms of causes and consequences. Second, we created a reduced version of the map and examined the connections between categories of factors (e.g., food production, and physiology). Third, we explored the themes in the interviews when discussing either well-being or obesity. Our results show that obesity was viewed from a medical perspective as a problem, whereas well-being led to broad and diverse solution-oriented themes. In particular, we found that taking a well-being perspective can be more comprehensive without losing the relevance of the physiological aspects that an obesity-centric perspective focuses on. Self-supervised learning (SSL) has emerged as a promising paradigm for learning flexible speech representations from unlabeled data. By designing pretext tasks that exploit statistical regularities, SSL models can capture useful representations that are transferable to downstream tasks. Barlow Twins (BTs) is an SSL technique inspired by theories of redundancy reduction in human perception. In downstream tasks, BTs representations accelerate learning and transfer this learning across applications. This study applies BTs to speech data and evaluates the obtained representations on several downstream tasks, showing the applicability of the approach. However, limitations exist in disentangling key explanatory factors, with redundancy reduction and invariance alone being insufficient for factorization of learned latents into modular, compact, and informative codes. Our ablation study isolated gains from invariance constraints, but the gains were context-dependent. Overall, this work substantiates the potential of Barlow Twins for sample-efficient speech encoding. However, challenges remain in achieving fully hierarchical representations. The analysis methodology and insights presented in this paper pave a path for extensions incorporating further inductive priors and perceptual principles to further enhance the BTs self-supervision framework. Utilizing Arduino development boards for learning microcontroller circuits is a prevalent practice across various educational levels. Nevertheless, the literature offers limited insights into the impact of these boards on student performance and attitudes. Therefore, this paper aims to investigate the performance of 58 university students in learning microcontroller circuits with modular boards designed for Arduino through a series of 4 exercises. Specifically, students' performance is assessed through pre-tests and post-tests, in three learning units: (a) microcontroller, (b) coding, and (c) circuit. Additionally, the study captures students' attitudes and measures their perceived usability of modular boards. For this purpose, the students completed a specially designed attitude questionnaire and the system usability scale (SUS) questionnaire. Statistical analysis is conducted using t-tests, ANOVA, and ANCOVA, along with bootstrapping. The findings reveal statistically significant differences between pre-tests and post-tests in all cases. Among the three learning units, the use of modular boards appears to have the most significant impact on coding. Based on students' responses, the SUS results indicate that modular boards appear to be a quite usable approach for teaching microcontrollers. This paper introduces the first completely unsupervised methodology for non-intrusive load monitoring that does not rely on any additional data, making it suitable for real-life applications. The methodology includes an algorithm to efficiently decompose the aggregated energy load from households in events and algorithms based on expert knowledge to assign each of these events to four types of appliances: fridge, dishwasher, microwave, and washer/dryer. The methodology was developed to work with smart meters that have a granularity of 1 min and was evaluated using the Reference Energy Disaggregation Dataset. The results show that the algorithm can disaggregate the refrigerator with high accuracy and the usefulness of the proposed methodology to extract relevant features from other appliances, such as the power use and duration from the heating cycles of a dishwasher. In this paper, we propose autonomous cycles of data analysis tasks for the automation of the production chains aimed to improve the productivity of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the context of agroindustry. In the autonomous cycles of data analysis tasks, each task interacts with the others and has different functions, in order to reach the goal of the cycle. In this article, we identify three industrial-automation processes within the production chain, in which autonomous cycles can be applied. The first cycle is responsible to identify the type of input to be transformed—such as quantity, quality, time, and cost—based on information from the organization and its context. The second cycle selects the technological level used in the raw-material transformation, characterizing the platform of plant processing. The last cycle identifies the level of specialization of the generated product, such as the quality and value of the product. This paper presents a broad study on the application of the BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) model for multiclass text classification, specifically focusing on categorizing business descriptions into 1 of 13 distinct industry categories. The study involved a detailed fine-tuning phase resulting in a consistent decrease in training loss, indicative of the model's learning efficacy. Subsequent validation on a separate dataset revealed the model's robust performance, with classification accuracies ranging from 83.5% to 92.6% across different industry classes. Our model showed a high overall accuracy of 88.23%, coupled with a robust F1 score of 0.88. These results highlight the model's ability to capture and utilize the nuanced features of text data pertinent to various industries. The model has the capability to harness real-time web data, thereby enabling the utilization of the latest and most up-to-date information affecting to the company's product portfolio. The dynamic flexible job-shop problem (DFJSP) is a realistic and challenging problem that many production plants face. As the product line becomes more complex, the machines may suddenly break down or resume service, so we need a dynamic scheduling framework to cope with the changing number of machines over time. This issue has been rarely addressed in the literature. In this paper, we propose an improved learning-to-dispatch (L2D) model to generate a reasonable and good schedule to minimize the makespan. We formulate a DFJSP as a disjunctive graph and use graph neural networks (GINs) to embed the disjunctive graph into states for the agent to learn. The use of GINs enables the model to handle the dynamic number of machines and to effectively generalize to large-scale instances. The learning agent is a multi-layer feedforward network trained with a reinforcement learning algorithm, called proximal policy optimization. We trained the model on small-sized problems and tested it on various-sized problems. The experimental results show that our model outperforms the existing best priority dispatching rule algorithms, such as shortest processing time, most work remaining, flow due date per most work remaining, and most operations remaining. Systematic reviews are cumbersome yet essential to the epistemic process of medical science. Finding significant reports, however, is a daunting task because the sheer volume of published literature makes the manual screening of databases time-consuming. The use of Artificial Intelligence could make literature processing faster and more efficient. Sentence transformers are groundbreaking algorithms that can generate rich semantic representations of text documents and allow for semantic queries. In the present report, we compared four freely available sentence transformer pre-trained models (all-MiniLM-L6-v2, all-MiniLM-L12-v2, all-mpnet-base-v2, and All-distilroberta-v1) on a convenience sample of 6110 articles from a published systematic review. The authors of this review manually screened the dataset and identified 24 target articles that addressed the Focused Questions (FQ) of the review. We applied the four sentence transformers to the dataset and, using the FQ as a query, performed a semantic similarity search on the dataset. The models identified similarities between the FQ and the target articles to a varying degree, and, sorting the dataset by semantic similarities using the best-performing model (all-mpnet-base-v2), the target articles could be found in the top 700 papers out of the 6110 dataset. Our data indicate that the choice of an appropriate pre-trained model could remarkably reduce the number of articles to screen and the time to completion for systematic reviews. This paper aims to use location-based social media data to infer the impact of the Russia–Ukraine war on human mobility. We examine the impact of the Russia–Ukraine war on changes in human mobility in terms of the spatial range of check-in locations using social media location data. Specifically, we collect users' check-in location data from Twitter and analyze the average gyration of check-ins from a region across the timeline of major events associated with the war. Change-point detection is performed on these time-series check-ins to identify the timeline of abrupt changes, which are shown to be consistent with the timing of a series of sanctions and policies. We find that war-related events may contribute secondary impacts (e.g., the surge in gas prices) to users' travel patterns. The impact of the Russia–Ukraine war on users' travel patterns can differ based on their own scope. Our case study demonstrates that users' gyration in Warsaw, Paris, and Berlin experienced a decrease of over 50% during periods of gas price surges. These changes in users' gyration patterns were particularly noticeable in neighboring countries like Poland compared to the other three countries. Reconstruction algorithms play a pivotal role in CS, and this article reviews state-of-the-art methods, ensuring a high-fidelity reconstruction of visual information. Language is a unique ability of human beings. Although relatively simple for humans, the ability to understand human language is a highly complex task for machines. For a machine to learn a particular language, it must understand not only the words and rules used in a particular language, but also the context of sentences and the meaning that words take on in a particular context. In the experimental development we present in this paper, the goal was the development of the language model SRBerta—a language model designed to understand the formal language of Serbian legal documents. SRBerta is the first of its kind since it has been trained using Cyrillic legal texts contained within a dataset created specifically for this purpose. The main goal of SRBerta network development was to understand the formal language of Serbian legislation. The training process was carried out using minimal resources (single NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 GPU) and performed in two phases—base model training and fine-tuning. We will present the structure of the model, the structure of the training datasets, the training process, and the evaluation results. Further, we will explain the accuracy metric used in our case and demonstrate that SRBerta achieves a high level of accuracy for the task of masked language modeling in Serbian Cyrillic legal texts. During the Bronze Age, the inhabitants of regions of Crete, mainland Greece, and Cyprus inscribed their languages using, among other scripts, a writing system called Linear A. These symbols, mainly characterized by combinations of lines, have, since their discovery, remained a mystery. Not only is the corpus very small, but it is challenging to link Minoan, the language behind Linear A, to any known language. Most decipherment attempts involve using the phonetic values of Linear B, a grammatological offspring of Linear A, to 'read' Linear A. However, this yields meaningless words. Recently, novel approaches to deciphering the script have emerged which involve a computational component. In this paper, two such approaches are combined to account for the biases involved in provisionally assigning Linear B phonetic values to Linear A and to shed more light on the possible connections of Linear A with other scripts and languages from the region. Additionally, the limitations inherent in such approaches are discussed. Firstly, a feature-based similarity measure is used to compare Linear A with the Carian Alphabet and the Cypriot Syllabary. A few Linear A symbols are matched with symbols from the Carian Alphabet and the Cypriot Syllabary. Finally, using the derived phonetic values, Linear A is compared with Ancient Egyptian, Luwian, Hittite, Proto-Celtic, and Uralic using a consonantal approach. This literature review explores the existing work and practices in applying thematic analysis natural language processing techniques to financial data in cloud environments. This work aims to improve two of the five Vs of the big data system. We used the PRISMA approach (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) for the review. We analyzed the research papers published over the last 10 years about the topic in question using a keyword-based search and bibliometric analysis. The systematic literature review was conducted in multiple phases, and filters were applied to exclude papers based on the title and abstract initially, then based on the methodology/conclusion, and, finally, after reading the full text. The remaining papers were then considered and are discussed here. We found that automated data discovery methods can be augmented by applying an NLP-based thematic analysis on the financial data in cloud environments. Polygraph tests have been used for many years as a means of detecting deception, but their accuracy has been the subject of much debate. In recent years, researchers have explored the use of neural networks in polygraph scoring to improve the accuracy of deception detection. The purpose of this scoping review is to offer a comprehensive overview of the existing research on the subject of neural network applications in scoring polygraph tests. A total of 57 relevant papers were identified and analyzed for this review. The papers were examined for their research focus, methodology, results, and conclusions. The scoping review found that neural networks have shown promise in improving the accuracy of polygraph tests, with some studies reporting significant improvements over traditional methods. However, further research is needed to validate these findings and to determine the most effective ways of integrating neural networks into polygraph testing. The growth of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data produced by the new applications is a result of the development and expansion of social networks, the Internet of Things, web technology, mobile devices, and other technologies. However, as traditional databases became less suitable to manage the rapidly growing quantity of data and variety of data structures, a new class of database management systems named NoSQL was required to satisfy the new requirements. Although NoSQL databases are generally schema-less, significant research has been conducted on their design. A literature review presented in this paper lets us claim the need to create modeling techniques to describe how to structure data in NoSQL databases. Key-value is one of the NoSQL families that has received too little attention, especially in terms of its design methodology. Most studies have focused on the other families, like column-oriented and document-oriented. This paper aims to present a design approach named KVMod (key-value modeling) specific to key-value databases. The purpose is to provide to the scientific community and engineers with a methodology for the design of key-value stores using the maximum automation and therefore the minimum human intervention, which equals the minimum number of errors. A software tool called KVDesign has been implemented to automate the proposed methodology and, thus, the most time-consuming database modeling tasks. Inspired by the migration and reproduction of species in nature to explore suitable habitats, this paper proposed a new swarm intelligence algorithm called the Migration and Reproduction Algorithm (MARA). This new algorithm discusses how to transform the behavior of an organism looking for a suitable habitat into a mathematical model, which can solve optimization problems. MARA has some common features with other optimization methods such as particle swarm optimization (PSO) and the fireworks algorithm (FWA), which means MARA can also solve the optimization problems that PSO and FWA are used to, namely, high-dimensional optimization problems. MARA also has some unique features among biology-based optimization methods. In this paper, we articulated the structure of MARA by correlating it with natural biogeography; then, we demonstrated the performance of MARA on sets of 12 benchmark functions. Autonomous vehicles (AVs) have emerged as a promising technology for enhancing road safety and mobility. However, designing AVs involves various critical aspects, such as software and system requirements, that must be carefully addressed. This paper investigates safety-aware approaches for AVs, focusing on the software and system requirements aspect. It reviews the existing methods based on software and system design and analyzes them according to their algorithms, parameters, evaluation criteria, and challenges. This paper also examines the state-of-the-art artificial intelligence-based techniques for AVs, as AI has been a crucial element in advancing this technology. This paper reveals that 63% of the reviewed studies use various AI methods, with deep learning being the most prevalent (34%). The article also identifies the current gaps and future directions for AV safety research. This paper can be a valuable reference for researchers and practitioners on AV safety. This work presents examples of practice sessions to teach and learn digital electronics using an FPGA-based development platform, accessible either through the on-campus laboratory or online using a remote laboratory developed by the authors. The main tasks proposed in the practice sessions are to design specific modules that will be included as a main block in more complex projects. Each project is adapted and ready once the student modules to be implemented, debugged, and/or tested in the FPGA-based platform are added using the aforementioned accessibility methods. The proposal suggests the use of a web-based remote laboratory to complement (rather than replace) on-campus teaching in response to the growing need for access to laboratory resources beyond regular teaching hours. The paper introduces the main topics on implementing and using the tool, sets out how to adapt regular projects to be executed in the remote lab, and describes several practice projects proposed to students in the final three academic years. Computer vision is a powerful tool for healthcare applications since it can provide objective diagnosis and assessment of pathologies, not depending on clinicians' skills and experiences. It can also help speed-up population screening, reducing health care costs and improving the quality of service. Several works summarise applications and systems in medical imaging, whereas less work is devoted to surveying approaches for healthcare goals using ambient intelligence, i.e., observing individuals in natural settings. Even more, there is a lack of papers providing a survey of works exhaustively covering computer vision applications for children's health, which is a particularly challenging research area considering that most existing computer vision technologies have been trained and tested only on adults. The aim of this paper is then to survey, for the first time in the literature, the papers covering children's health-related issues by ambient intelligence methods and systems relying on computer vision. Immersive technologies are revolutionary technological advancements that offer users unparalleled experiences of immersion in a virtual or mixed world of virtual and real elements. In such technology, user privacy, security, and anonymity are paramount, as users often share private and sensitive information. Therefore, user authentication is a critical requirement in these environments. This paper presents a systematic literature review of recently published research papers on immersive technology-based user authentication mechanisms. After conducting the literature search in September 2023 using Scopus, the selection process identified 36 research publications that were further analyzed. The analysis revealed three major types of authentications related to immersive technologies, consistent with previous works: knowledge-based, biometric, and multi-factor methods. The reviewed papers are categorized according to these groups, and the methods used are scrutinized. To the best of our knowledge, this systematic literature review is the first that provides a comprehensive consolidation of immersive technologies for user authentication in virtual, augmented, and mixed reality. Autonomous and AI-enabled systems present a challenge for integration within the System of Sys-tems (SoS) paradigm. A full system of systems (SoS) testbed is necessary to verify the integrity of a given system and preserve the modularization and accountability of its constituent systems. This integrated system needs to support iterative, continuous testing and development. This need war-rants the development of a virtual environment that provides the ground truth in a simulated sce-nario, interfaces with real-world data, and uses various domain-specific and domain-agnostic simulation systems for development, testing, and evaluation. These required features present a non-trivial challenge wherein constructive models and systems at different levels of fidelity need to interoperate to advance the testing, evaluation, and integration of complex systems. Such a virtual and constructive SoS architecture should be independent of the underlying computational infra-structure but must be cloud-enabled for wider integration of AI-enabled software components. This paper will present a modular Simulation, Experimentation, Analytics, and Test (SEAT) Lay-ered Architecture Framework, a 10-step methodology. This paper will also demonstrate a case study of a hybrid cloud-enabled simulation SoS that allows extensibility, composability, and de-ployability in different target environments. Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly important, especially in the medical field. While AI has been used in medicine for some time, its growth in the last decade is remarkable. Specifically, machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques in medicine have been increasingly adopted due to the growing abundance of health-related data, the improved suitability of such techniques for managing large datasets, and more computational power. ML and DL methodologies are fostering the development of new "intelligent" tools and expert systems to process data, to automatize human–machine interactions, and to deliver advanced predictive systems that are changing every aspect of the scientific research, industry, and society. The Italian scientific community was instrumental in advancing this research area. This article aims to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the ML and DL methodologies and applications used in medicine by the Italian research community in the last five years. To this end, we selected all the papers published in the last five years with at least one of the authors affiliated to an Italian institution that in the title, in the abstract, or in the keywords present the terms "machine learning" or "deep learning" and reference a medical area. We focused our research on journal papers under the hypothesis that Italian researchers prefer to present novel but well-established research in scientific journals. In practical applications, the accuracy of domain terminology translation is an important criterion for the performance evaluation of domain machine translation models. Aiming at the problem of phrase mismatch and improper translation caused by word-by-word translation of English terminology phrases, this paper constructs a dictionary of terminology phrases in the field of electrical engineering and proposes three schemes to integrate the dictionary knowledge into the translation model. Scheme 1 replaces the terminology phrases of the source language. Scheme 2 uses the residual connection at the encoder end after the terminology phrase is replaced. Scheme 3 uses a segmentation method of combining character segmentation and terminology segmentation for the target language and uses an additional loss module in the training process. The results show that all three schemes are superior to the baseline model in two aspects: BLEU value and correct translation rate of terminology words. In the test set, the highest accuracy of terminology words was 48.3% higher than that of the baseline model. The BLEU value is up to 3.6 higher than the baseline model. First, we delve into the capabilities of ChatGPT, which can understand and generate human-like text, enabling more accurate and context-aware recommendations. We discuss the integration of ChatGPT into recommender systems, highlighting the ability to analyze user preferences, extract valuable insights from online reviews, and generate personalized recommendations based on guest profiles. Second, we investigate the role of persuasive technology in influencing user behavior and enhancing the persuasive impact of hotel recommendations. By incorporating persuasive techniques, such as social proof, scarcity, and personalization, recommender systems can effectively influence user decision making and encourage desired actions, such as booking a specific hotel or upgrading their room. To investigate the efficacy of ChatGPT and persuasive technologies, we present pilot experiments with a case study involving a hotel recommender system. Our inhouse commercial hotel marketing platform, eXclusivi, was extended with a new software module working with ChatGPT prompts and persuasive ads created for its recommendations. In particular, we developed an intelligent advertisement (ad) copy generation tool for the hotel marketing platform. The proposed approach allows for the hotel team to target all guests in their language, leveraging the integration with the hotel's reservation system. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the crucial role of social-media-based cyber intelligence in understanding Russia's cyber threats during the ongoing Russo–Ukrainian conflict. This paper introduces an innovative multidimensional cyber intelligence framework and utilizes Twitter data to generate cyber intelligence reports. By leveraging advanced monitoring tools and NLP algorithms, like language detection, translation, sentiment analysis, term frequency–inverse document frequency (TF-IDF), latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA), Porter stemming, n-grams, and others, this study automatically generated cyber intelligence for Russia and Ukraine. Using 37,386 tweets originating from 30,706 users in 54 languages from 13 October 2022 to 6 April 2023, this paper reported the first detailed multilingual analysis on the Russia–Ukraine cyber crisis in four cyber dimensions (geopolitical and socioeconomic; targeted victim; psychological and societal; and national priority and concerns). Facing global market competition and supply chain risks, many production companies are leaning towards distributed manufacturing because of their ability to utilize a network of manufacturing resources located around the world. Deriving from information and communication technologies and artificial intelligence, the digital twin shop-floor (DTS) has received great attention from academia and industry. DTS is a virtual shop-floor that is almost identical to the physical shop-floor. Therefore, multiple physical shop-floors located in different places can easily be interconnected to realize a DT that is a distributed digital twin shop-floor (D2TS). However, some challenges still hinder effective and efficient resource allocation among D2TSs. In order to attempt to address the issues, firstly, this paper proposes an information architecture for D2TSs based on cloud–fog computing; secondly, a novel mechanism of D2TS resource allocation (D2TSRA) is designed. The adoption of emerging technologies in healthcare systems plays a crucial part in anti-obesity initiatives. COVID-19 has intensified the Body Mass Index (BMI) discourses in AI (Artificial Intelligence)-powered social media. However, few studies have reported on the influence of digital content on obesity prevention policies. Understanding the nature and forums of obese metaphors in social media is the first step in policy intervention. The purpose of this paper is to understand the mutual influence between obesity and COVID-19 and determine its policy implications. This paper analyzes the public responses to obesity using Twitter data collected during the COVID-19 pandemic. The emotional nature of tweets is analyzed using the NRC lexicon. The results show that COVID-19 significantly influences perceptions of obesity; this indicates that existing public health policies must be revisited. The study findings delineate prerequisites for obese disease control programs. This systematic review synthesised existing research papers that explore the available metadata standards to enable researchers to preserve, discover, and reuse research data in repositories. This review provides a broad overview of certain aspects that must be taken into consideration when creating and assessing metadata standards to enhance research data preservation discoverability and reusability strategies. Research papers on metadata standards, research data preservation, discovery and reuse, and repositories published between January 2003 and April 2023 were reviewed from a total of five databases. The review retrieved 1597 papers, and 13 papers were selected in this review. We revealed 13 research articles that explained the creation and application of metadata standards to enhance preservation, discovery, and reuse of research data in repositories. Among them, eight presented the three main types of metadata, descriptive, structural, and administrative, to enable the preservation of research data in data repositories. We noted limited evidence on how these metadata standards can be used to enhance the discovery and reuse of research data in repositories to enable the preservation, discovery, and reuse of research data in repositories. No reviews indicated specific higher education institutions employing metadata standards for the research data created by their researchers. Repository designs and a lack of expertise and technology know-how were among the challenges identified from the reviewed papers. The review has the potential to influence professional practice and decision-making by stakeholders, including researchers, students, librarians, information communication technologists, data managers, private and public organisations, intermediaries, research institutions, and non-profit organizations. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be very beneficial in the criminal justice system for predicting the risk of recidivism. The application of AI models for predicting recidivism has brought positive effects by minimizing the possible re-occurrence of crime. However, the question remains of whether criminal justice system stakeholders can trust AI systems regarding fairness, transparency, privacy and data protection, consistency, societal well-being, and accountability when predicting convicted individuals' possible risk of recidivism. These are all requirements for a trustworthy AI. The purpose of this study is to show the playing and spending habits of Gacha players: the reasons they like such games, the reasons for spending, how much they spend, what they spend on, how long they have been spending, and whether they are aware of their spending. Faceted Search Systems (FSSs) have gained prominence as one of the dominant search approaches in vertical search systems. They provide facets to educate users about the information space and allow them to refine their search query and navigate back and forth between resources on a single results page. Despite the importance of this problem, it is rare to find studies dedicated solely to the investigation of facet ranking methods, nor to how this step, aside from other aspects of faceted search, affects the user's search experience. The objective of this survey paper is to review the state of the art in research related to faceted search systems, with a focus on existing facet ranking approaches and the key challenges posed by this problem. In addition to that, this survey also investigates state-of-the-art FSS evaluation frameworks and the most commonly used techniques and metrics to evaluate facet ranking approaches. It also lays out criteria for dataset appropriateness and its needed structure to be used in evaluating facet ranking methods aside from other FSS aspects. Biometrics has become an important research issue in recent years, and the use of deep learning neural networks has made it possible to develop more reliable and efficient recognition systems. Palms have been identified as one of the most promising candidates among various biometrics due to their unique features and easy accessibility. However, traditional palm recognition methods involve 3D point clouds, which can be complex and difficult to work with. To mitigate this challenge, this paper proposes two methods which are Multi-View Projection (MVP) and Light Inverted Residual Block (LIRB).The MVP simulates different angles that observers use to observe palms in reality. It transforms 3D point clouds into multiple 2D images and effectively reduces the loss of mapping 3D data to 2D data. Therefore, the MVP can greatly reduce the complexity of the system. In experiments, MVP demonstrated remarkable performance on various famous models, such as VGG or MobileNetv2, with a particular improvement in the performance of smaller models. To further improve the performance of small models, this paper applies LIRB to build a lightweight 2D CNN called Tiny-MobileNet (TMBNet).The TMBNet has only a few convolutional layers but outperforms the 3D baselines PointNet and PointNet++ in FLOPs and accuracy. The experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively mitigate the challenges of recognizing palms through 3D point clouds of palms. The proposed method not only reduces the complexity of the system but also extends the use of lightweight CNN. The current popular approach to the extraction of document-level relations is mainly based on either a graph structure or serialization model method for the inference, but the graph structure method makes the model complicated, while the serialization model method decreases the extraction accuracy as the text length increases. To address such problems, the goal of this paper is to develop a new approach for document-level relationship extraction by applying a new idea through the consideration of so-called "Local Relationship and Global Inference" (in short, LRGI), which means that we first encode the text using the BERT pre-training model to obtain a local relationship vector first by considering a local context pooling and bilinear group algorithm and then establishing a global inference mechanism based on Floyd's algorithm to achieve multi-path multi-hop inference and obtain the global inference vector, which allow us to extract multi-classified relationships with adaptive thresholding criteria. Taking the DocRED dataset as a testing set, the numerical results show that our proposed new approach (LRGI) in this paper achieves an accuracy of 0.73, and the value of F1 is 62.11, corresponding to 28% and 2% improvements by comparing with the classical document-level relationship extraction model (ATLOP), respectively. This paper introduces an informed decision support framework (IDSF) from a strategic perspective in the health sector, focusing on Saudi Arabia. The study addresses the existing challenges and gaps in decision-making processes within Saudi organizations, highlighting the need for proper systems and identifying the loopholes that hinder informed decision making. The research aims to answer two key research questions: (1) how do decision makers ensure the accuracy of their decisions? and (2) what is the proper process to govern and control decision outcomes? To achieve these objectives, the research adopts a qualitative research approach, including an intensive literature review and interviews with decision makers in the Saudi health sector. The proposed IDSF fills the gap in the existing literature by providing a comprehensive and adaptable framework for decision making in Saudi organizations. The framework encompasses structured, semi-structured, and unstructured decisions, ensuring a thorough approach to informed decision making. It emphasizes the importance of integrating non-digital sources of information into the decision-making process, as well as considering factors that impact decision quality and accuracy. The study's methodology involves data collection through interviews with decision makers, as well as the use of visualization tools to present and evaluate the results. The analysis of the collected data highlights the deficiencies in current decision-making practices and supports the development of the IDSF. A medical entity (hospital, nursing home, rest home, revalidation center, etc.) usually includes a multitude of information systems that allow for quick decision-making close to the medical sensors. The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) is an area of IoT that generates a lot of data of different natures (radio, CT scan, medical reports, medical sensor data). However, these systems need to share and exchange medical information in a seamless, timely, and efficient manner with systems that are either within the same entity or other healthcare entities. The lack of inter- and intra-entity interoperability causes major problems in the analysis of patient records and leads to additional financial costs (e.g., redone examinations). To develop a medical data interoperability architecture model that will allow providers and different actors in the medical community to exchange patient summary information with other caregivers and partners to improve the quality of care, the level of data security, and the efficiency of care should take stock of the state of knowledge. This paper discusses the challenges faced by medical entities in sharing and exchanging medical information seamlessly and efficiently. It highlights the need for inter- and intra-entity interoperability to improve the analysis of patient records, reduce financial costs, and enhance the quality of care. In this paper, a new method that computes the aesthetics of a melody fragment is proposed, starting from dissonances. While music generated with artificial intelligence applications may be produced considerably more quickly than human-composed music, it has the drawback of not being appreciated like a human composition, being many times perceived by humans as artificial. For achieving supervised machine learning objectives of improving the quality of the great number of generated melodies, it is a challenge to ask humans to grade them. Therefore, it would be preferable if the aesthetics of artificial-intelligence-generated music is calculated by an algorithm. The proposed method in this paper is based on a neural network and a mathematical formula, which has been developed with the help of a study in which 108 students evaluated the aesthetics of several melodies. For evaluation, numerical values generated by this method were compared with ratings provided by human listeners from a second study in which 30 students participated and scores were generated by an existing different method developed by psychologists and three other methods developed by musicians. Our method achieved a Pearson correlation of 0.49 with human aesthetic scores, which is a much better result than other methods obtained. As the digital era advances, many industries continue to expand their use of digital technologies to support company operations, notably at the customer interface, bringing new commercial opportunities and increased efficiencies. However, there are new sets of responsibilities associated with the deployment of these technologies, encompassed within the emerging concept of corporate digital responsibility (CDR), which to date has received little attention in the academic literature. This exploratory paper thus looks to make a small contribution to addressing this gap in the literature. The paper adopts a qualitative, inductive research method, employing an initial scoping literature review followed by two case studies. Based on the research findings, a simple model of CDR parameters is put forward. In this paper, we propose a novel attack on image encryption for privacy-preserving deep neural networks (DNNs). Although several encryption schemes have been proposed for privacy-preserving DNNs, existing cipher-text-only attacks (COAs) have succeeded in restoring visual information from encrypted images. Image encryption using the Vision Transformer (ViT) is known to be robust against existing COAs due to the operations of block scrambling and pixel shuffling, which permute divided blocks and pixels in an encrypted image. However, the correlation between blocks in the encrypted image can still be exploited for reconstruction. Therefore, in this paper, a novel jigsaw puzzle solver-based attack that utilizes block correlation is proposed to restore visual information from encrypted images. In the experiments, we evaluated the security of image encryption for privacy-preserving deep neural networks using both conventional and proposed COAs. An intelligent conversational agent for the legal domain is an AI-powered system that can communicate with users in natural language and provide legal advice or assistance. In this paper, we present CREA2, an agent designed to process legal concepts and be able to guide users on legal matters. The conversational agent can help users navigate legal procedures, understand legal jargon, and provide recommendations for legal action. The agent can also give suggestions helpful in drafting legal documents, such as contracts, leases, and notices. Additionally, conversational agents can help reduce the workload of legal professionals by handling routine legal tasks. CREA2, in particular, will guide the user in resolving disputes between people residing within the European Union, proposing solutions in controversies between two or more people who are contending over assets in a divorce, an inheritance, or the division of a company. The conversational agent can later be accessed through various channels, including messaging platforms, websites, and mobile applications. This paper presents a retrieval system that evaluates the similarity between a user's query and a given question. The system uses natural language processing (NLP) algorithms to interpret user input and associate responses by addressing the problem as a semantic search similar question retrieval. Although a common approach to question and answer (Q&A) retrieval is to create labelled Q&A pairs for training, we exploit an unsupervised information retrieval system in order to evaluate the similarity degree between a given query and a set of questions contained in the knowledge base. We used the recently proposed SBERT model for the evaluation of relevance. Advancements in artificial intelligence are leading researchers to find use cases that were not as straightforward to solve in the past. The use case of simulated autonomous driving has been known as a notoriously difficult task to automate, but advancements in the field of reinforcement learning have made it possible to reach satisfactory results. In this paper, we explore the use of the Unity ML-Agents toolkit to train intelligent agents to navigate a racing track in a simulated environment using RL algorithms. The paper compares the performance of several different RL algorithms and configurations on the task of training kart agents to successfully traverse a racing track and identifies the most effective approach for training kart agents to navigate a racing track and avoid obstacles in that track. The best results, value loss of 0.0013 and a cumulative reward of 0.761, were yielded using the Proximal Policy Optimization algorithm. After successfully choosing a model and algorithm that can traverse the track with ease, different objects were added to the track and another model (which used behavioral cloning as a pre-training option) was trained to avoid such obstacles. The aforementioned model resulted in a value loss of 0.001 and a cumulative reward of 0.068, proving that behavioral cloning can help achieve satisfactory results where the in game agents are able to avoid obstacles more efficiently and complete the track with human-like performance, allowing for a deployment of intelligent agents in racing simulators. Recent developments in the mobile and intelligence industry have led to an explosion in the use of multiple smart devices such as smartphones, tablets, smart bracelets, etc. To achieve lasting security after initial authentication, many studies have been conducted to apply user authentication through behavioral biometrics. However, few of them consider continuous user authentication on multiple smart devices. In this paper, we investigate user authentication from a new perspective—continuous authentication on multi-devices, that is, continuously authenticating users after both initial access to one device and transfer to other devices. In contrast to previous studies, we propose a continuous user authentication method that exploits behavioral biometric identification on multiple smart devices. In this study, we consider the sensor data captured by accelerometer and gyroscope sensors on both smartphones and tablets. Furthermore, multi-device behavioral biometric data are utilized as the input of our optimized neural network model, which combines a convolutional neural network (CNN) and a long short-term memory (LSTM) network. In particular, we construct two-dimensional domain images to characterize the underlying features of sensor signals between different devices and then input them into our network for classification. In order to strengthen the effectiveness and efficiency of authentication on multiple devices, we introduce an adaptive confidence-based strategy by taking historical user authentication results into account. This paper evaluates the performance of our multi-device continuous user authentication mechanism under different scenarios, and extensive empirical results demonstrate its feasibility and efficiency. Using the mechanism, we achieved mean accuracies of 99.8% and 99.2% for smartphones and tablets, respectively, in approximately 2.3 s, which shows that it authenticates users accurately and quickly.
