In the paper, we consider a generalization of the classical assignment problem, which is called the constrained assignment problem with bounds and penalties (CA-BP). Specifically, given a set of machines and a set of independent jobs, each machine has a lower and upper bound on the number of jobs that can be executed, and each job must be either executed on some machine with a given processing time or rejected with a penalty that we must pay for. No job can be executed on more than one machine. We aim to find an assignment scheme for these jobs that satisfies the constraints mentioned above. The objective is to minimize the total processing time of executed jobs as well as the penalties from rejected jobs. The CA-BP is related to some practical applications such as edge computing, which involves selecting tasks and processing them on the edge servers of an internet network. As a result, a motivation of this study is to improve the efficiency of internet networks by limiting the lower bound of the number of objects processed by each edge server. Our main contribution is modifying the previous network flow algorithms to satisfy the lower capacity constraints, for which we design two exact combinatorial algorithms to solve the CA-BP. Conceptual distance refers to the degree of proximity between two concepts within a conceptualization. It is closely related to semantic similarity and relationships, but its measurement strongly depends on the context of the given concepts. DIS-C represents an advancement in the computation of semantic similarity/relationships that is independent of the type of knowledge structure and semantic relations when generating a graph from a knowledge base (ontologies, semantic networks, and hierarchies, among others). This approach determines the semantic similarity between two indirectly connected concepts in an ontology by propagating local distances by applying an algorithm based on the All Pairs Shortest Path (APSP) problem. This process is implemented for each pair of concepts to establish the most effective and efficient paths to connect these concepts. The algorithm identifies the shortest path between concepts, which allows for an inference of the most relevant relationships between them. However, one of the critical issues with this process is computational complexity, combined with the design of APSP algorithms, such as Dijkstra, which is n 3 . This paper studies different alternatives to improve the DIS-C approach by adapting approximation algorithms, focusing on Dijkstra, pruned Dijkstra, and sketch-based methods, to compute the conceptual distance according to the need to scale DIS-C to analyze very large graphs; therefore, reducing the related computational complexity is critical. Tests were performed using different datasets to calculate the conceptual distance when using the original version of DIS-C and when using the influence area of nodes. In situations where time optimization is necessary for generating results, using the original DIS-C model is not the optimal method. Therefore, we propose a simplified version of DIS-C to calculate conceptual distances based on centrality estimation. The obtained results for the simple version of DIS-C indicated that the processing time decreased 2.381 times when compared to the original DIS-C version. This paper presents a method for unsupervised classification of entities by a group of agents with unknown domains and levels of expertise. In contrast to the existing methods based on majority voting ("wisdom of the crowd") and their extensions by expectation-maximization procedures, the suggested method first determines the levels of the agents' expertise and then weights their opinions by their expertise level. In particular, we assume that agents will have relatively closer classifications in their field of expertise. Therefore, the expert agents are recognized by using a weighted Hamming distance between their classifications, and then the final classification of the group is determined from the agents' classifications by expectation-maximization techniques, with preference to the recognized experts. The algorithm was verified and tested on simulated and real-world datasets and benchmarked against known existing algorithms. We show that such a method reduces incorrect classifications and effectively solves the problem of unsupervised collaborative classification under uncertainty, while outperforming other known methods. Addressing contemporary challenges in computed tomography (CT) demands precise and efficient reconstruction. This necessitates the optimization of CT methods, particularly by improving the algorithmic efficiency of the most computationally demanding operators—forward projection and backprojection. Every measurement setup requires a unique pair of these operators. While fast algorithms for calculating forward projection operators are adaptable across various setups, they fall short in three-dimensional scanning scenarios. Hence, fast algorithms are imperative for backprojection, an integral aspect of all established reconstruction methods. This paper introduces a general method for the calculation of backprojection operators in any measurement setup. It introduces a versatile method for transposing summation-based algorithms, which rely exclusively on addition operations. The proposed approach allows for the transformation of algorithms designed for forward projection calculation into those suitable for backprojection, with the latter maintaining asymptotic algorithmic complexity. Employing this method, fast algorithms for both forward projection and backprojection have been developed for the 2D few-view parallel-beam CT as well as for the 3D cone-beam CT. This paper provides a real application of a popular swarm-intelligence optimisation method. The aim is to analyse the efficiency of various settings of the marine predator algorithm (MPA). Four crucial numerical parameters of the MPA are statistically analysed to propose the most efficient setting for solving engineering problems. Besides population size, particle velocity parameter P, Lévy flight parameter β , and fish aggregating device (FAD) probabilities are studied. Finally, 193 various settings, including fixed values and dynamic changes of the MPA parameters, are experimentally compared when solving 13 engineering problems. Standard statistical approaches are employed to highlight significant differences in various MPA settings. The setting of two MPA parameters (P, FADs) significantly influences MPA performance. Three newly proposed MPA settings outperform the original variant significantly. The best results provide the MPA variant with the dynamic linear change of P from 0.5 to 0. These parameters influence the velocity of prey and predator individuals in all three stages of the MPA search process. Decreasing the value of P showed that decreasing the velocity of individuals during the search provides good performance. Further, lower efficiency of the MPA with higher FAD values was detected. It means that more occasional use of fish aggregating devices (FADs) can increase the solvability of engineering problems. In this research paper, we present a new inertial method with a self-adaptive technique for solving the split variational inclusion and fixed point problems in real Hilbert spaces. The algorithm is designed to choose the optimal choice of the inertial term at every iteration, and the stepsize is defined self-adaptively without a prior estimate of the Lipschitz constant. A convergence theorem is demonstrated to be strong even under lenient conditions and to showcase the suggested method's efficiency and precision. Some numerical tests are given. Optimization algorithms have now played an important role in many fields, and the issue of how to design high-efficiency algorithms has gained increasing attention, for which it has been shown that advanced control theories could be helpful. In this paper, the fixed-time scheme and reset scheme are introduced to design high-efficiency gradient descent methods for unconstrained convex optimization problems. At first, a general reset framework for existing accelerated gradient descent methods is given based on the systematic representation, with which both convergence speed and stability are significantly improved. Then, the design of a novel adaptive fixed-time gradient descent, which has fewer tuning parameters and maintains better robustness to initial conditions, is presented. However, its discrete form introduces undesirable overshoot and easily leads to instability, and the reset scheme is then applied to overcome the drawbacks. The linear convergence and better stability of the proposed algorithms are theoretically proven, and several dedicated simulation examples are finally given to validate the effectiveness. Polar codes, as the coding scheme for the control channel in fifth-generation mobile communication technology (5G), have attracted widespread attention since their proposal. As a mainstream decoding algorithm for polar codes, the successive cancellation list (SCL) decoder usually improves the error correction performance by increasing the list size, but this method suffers from the problems of high decoding complexity. To address this problem, this paper proposes a layered-search bit-flipping (LS-SCLF) decoding algorithm based on SCL decoding. Firstly, a new flip-bit metric is proposed, which derives a formula to approximate the probability of an error occurring in an information bit. This formula introduces a perturbation parameter to improve the calculation accuracy. Secondly, a compromise scheme for determining the perturbation parameter is proposed. The scheme uses Monte Carlo simulation to determine an optimized parameter for the precise positioning of the first erroneous decoded bit under different decoding conditions. Finally, a layered search strategy is adopted to sequentially search the erroneous decoded bits from the low order to high order, which can correct up to multiple bits at the same time. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves improved error correction performance with a slight increase in decoding complexity compared to the generalized SCL-Flip (GSCLF) decoding algorithm. In recent years, the utilization of dual-arm robots has gained substantial prominence across various industries owing to their collaborative operational capabilities. In order to achieve collision avoidance and facilitate cooperative task completion, efficient path planning plays a pivotal role. The high dimensionality associated with collaborative task execution in dual-arm robots renders existing path planning methods ineffective for conducting efficient exploration. This paper introduces a multi-agent path planning reinforcement learning algorithm that integrates an experience replay strategy, a shortest-path constraint, and the policy gradient method. To foster collaboration and avoid competition between the robot arms, the proposed approach incorporates a mechanism known as "reward cooperation, punishment competition" during the training process. Our algorithm demonstrates strong performance in the control of dual-arm robots and exhibits the potential to mitigate the challenge of reward sparsity encountered during the training process. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is validated through simulations and experiments, comparing the results with existing methods and showcasing its superiority in dual-arm robot path planning. The resolution of small near-wall eddies encountered in high-Reynolds number flows using large eddy simulation (LES) requires very fine meshes that may be computationally prohibitive. As a result, the use of wall-modeled LES as an alternative is becoming more popular. In this paper, the near-wall domain decomposition (NDD) approach that was originally developed for Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes simulations (RANSs) is extended to the hybrid RANS/LES zonal decomposition. The algorithm is implemented in two stages. First, the solution is computed everywhere with LES on a coarse grid using a new non-local slip boundary condition for the instantaneous velocity at the wall. The solution is then recomputed in the near-wall region with RANS. The slip boundary conditions used in the first stage guarantee that the composite solution is smooth at the inner/outer region interface. Another advantage of the model is that the turbulent viscosity in the inner region is computed based on the corresponding RANS velocity. This shows improvement over those hybrid models that have only one velocity field in the whole domain obtained from LES. The model is realized in the open source code OpenFOAM with different approximations of turbulent viscosity and is applied to the planar channel flow at frictional Reynolds numbers of Re τ = 950 , 2000, and 4200. Mean streamwise velocity and Reynolds stress intensities are predicted reasonably well in comparison to the solutions obtained with unresolved LES and available DNS benchmarks. This paper is concerned with developing an efficient numerical algorithm for the fast implementation of the sparse grid method for computing the d-dimensional integral of a given function. The new algorithm, called the MDI-SG (multilevel dimension iteration sparse grid) method, implements the sparse grid method based on a dimension iteration/reduction procedure. It does not need to store the integration points, nor does it compute the function values independently at each integration point; instead, it reuses the computation for function evaluations as much as possible by performing the function evaluations at all integration points in a cluster and iteratively along coordinate directions. It is shown numerically that the computational complexity (in terms of CPU time) of the proposed MDI-SG method is of polynomial order O (d 3 N b) (b ≤ 2) or better, compared to the exponential order O (N (log N) d − 1) for the standard sparse grid method, where N denotes the maximum number of integration points in each coordinate direction. As a result, the proposed MDI-SG method effectively circumvents the curse of dimensionality suffered by the standard sparse grid method for high-dimensional numerical integration. Biomarker selection for predictive analytics encounters the problem of identifying a minimal-size subset of genes that is maximally predictive of an outcome of interest. For lung cancer gene expression datasets, it is a great challenge to handle the characteristics of small sample size, high dimensionality, high noise as well as the low reproducibility of important biomarkers in different studies. In this paper, our proposed meta-analysis-based regularized orthogonal matching pursuit (MA-ROMP) algorithm not only gains strength by using multiple datasets to identify important genomic biomarkers efficiently, but also keeps the selection flexible among datasets to take into account data heterogeneity through a hierarchical decomposition on regression coefficients. For a case study of lung cancer, we downloaded GSE10072, GSE19188 and GSE19804 from the GEO database with inconsistent experimental conditions, sample preparation methods, different study groups, etc. Compared with state-of-the-art methods, our method shows the highest accuracy, of up to 95.63%, with the best discriminative ability (AUC 0.9756) as well as a more than 15-fold decrease in its training time. The experimental results on both simulated data and several lung cancer gene expression datasets demonstrate that MA-ROMP is a more effective tool for biomarker selection and learning cancer prediction. A modified viscosity-type self-adaptive iterative algorithm is presented in this study, having a strong convergence theorem for estimating the common solution to the split generalized equilibrium problem along with the split common null point problem with multiple output sets, subject to some reasonable control sequence restrictions. In the era of healthcare and its related research fields, the dimensionality problem of high-dimensional data is a massive challenge as it is crucial to identify significant genes while conducting research on diseases like cancer. As a result, studying new Machine Learning (ML) techniques for raw gene expression biomedical data is an important field of research. Disease detection, sample classification, and early disease prediction are all important analyses of high-dimensional biomedical data in the field of bioinformatics. Recently, machine-learning techniques have dramatically improved the analysis of high-dimension biomedical data sets. Nonetheless, researchers' studies on biomedical data faced the challenge of vast dimensions, i.e., the vast features (genes) with a very low sample space. In this paper, two-dimensionality reduction methods, feature selection, and feature extraction are introduced with a systematic comparison of several dimension reduction techniques for the analysis of high-dimensional gene expression biomedical data. We presented a systematic review of some of the most popular nature-inspired algorithms and analyzed them. The paper is mainly focused on the original principles behind each of the algorithms and their applications for cancer classification and prediction from gene expression data. Lastly, the advantages and disadvantages of nature-inspired algorithms for biomedical data are evaluated. Clean and renewable energy is the only way to achieve sustainable energy development, with considerable social and economic benefits. As a key technology for clean and renewable energy, it is very important to research the reliability optimization of microgrids. This paper reviews the research progress in microgrid reliability optimization. This paper first classifies and summarizes the existing research on microgrid control strategies and reliability assessment. Then, the system reliability optimization framework is summarized in terms of both microgrid systems and optimization objectives. Next, we summarize the most commonly used optimization algorithms for microgrid reliability for different microgrid systems. Finally, we provide a bibliometric analysis of the literature on the reliability research of microgrids. Set similarity query is a primitive for many applications, such as data integration, data cleaning, and gene sequence alignment. Most of the existing algorithms are inverted index based, they usually filter unqualified sets one by one and do not have sufficient support for duplicated sets, thus leading to low efficiency. To solve this problem, this paper designs T-starTrie, an efficient trie based index for set similarity query, which can naturally group sets with the same prefix into one node, and can filter all sets corresponding to the node at a time, thereby significantly improving the candidates generation efficiency. In this paper, we find that the set similarity query problem can be transformed into matching nodes of the first-layer (FMNodes) detecting problem on T-starTrie. Therefore, an efficient FLMNode detection algorithm is designed. Based on this, an efficient set similarity query algorithm, TT-SSQ, is implemented by developing a variety of filtering techniques. Malicious certificate authorities (CAs) pose a significant threat to the security of the Internet of Things (IoT). Existing CA auditing schemes primarily rely on passive detection and public data collection, lacking real-time and comprehensive monitoring. In this paper, we propose a novel double-authentication preventing signature scheme based on an SM2 algorithm, referred to as Dap-SM2. We further enhance its functionality by introducing Self-C2AD, a CA auditing mechanism with self-enforcement. In our proposed mechanism, any malicious CA that generates two certificates with different descriptions (such as public key and basic information) for the same IoT device will immediately lose its private key. To ensure the security of our proposed scheme, we provide a detailed security analysis of Dap-SM2. The analysis demonstrates that our Self-C2AD mechanism meets the necessary security requirements, offering robust protection against malicious CAs. Additionally, we conduct an efficiency evaluation and present experimental data to illustrate the promising potential of our construction for future IoT applications. By introducing the Dap-SM2 scheme and the Self-C2AD mechanism, we address the critical issue of malicious CAs in the IoT domain. Our approach provides real-time and comprehensive auditing capabilities, surpassing the limitations of existing schemes. The security analysis confirms the effectiveness of Dap-SM2, while the efficiency evaluation and experimental data demonstrate its suitability for practical IoT applications. We extend the scope of the unified factorization method to the solution of conditionally and unconditionally exactly solvable models of quantum mechanics, proposed in a previous paper [R.R. Nigmatullin, A.A. Khamzin, D. Baleanu, Results in Physics 41 (2022) 105945]. The possibilities of applying the unified approach in the factorization method are demonstrated by calculating the energy spectrum of a potential constructed in the form of a second-order polynomial in many of the linearly independent functions. We analyze the solutions in detail when the potential is constructed from two linearly independent functions. We show that in the general case, such kinds of potentials are conditionally exactly solvable. To verify the novel approach, we consider several known potentials. We show that the shape of the energy spectrum is invariant to the number of functions from which the potential is formed and is determined by the type of differential equations that the potential-generating functions obey. As the main methods of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) transmission are air and physical contact, actions to mitigate and suppress its spread must be developed in order to change population dynamics and provide efficient control strategies. Here, these actions are described as a simple heuristic framework to establish public policies. Two control systems were studied: the first organized in the form of an algorithm stratified into three levels and the second as a minimization problem similar to optimal control strategies, applied to both social distancing and vaccination. The possible effects of these actions are modeled and applied to an extension of the Susceptible - Infected - Removed (SIR) compartmental model. The control system is developed, which is organized in the form of an algorithm stratified into three levels. These levels intend to represent social distancing strategies implemented by sanitary authorities around the globe, representing stronger or weaker grades of isolation intensity according to the ability of the healthcare system to cope with symptomatic individuals. The algorithm control is applied in a simulation, and the results give evidence of the effectiveness of the procedures adopted against the coronavirus. The model dynamics are analyzed and validated with simulations considering parameters obtained from epidemiological data from Brazil and Uruguay and in a more detailed way for three Brazilian states: São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro. The model was validated using cumulative data on cases and deaths. For cases of death, the results were satisfactory, while for case data, the response was reasonable, considering the possibility of adding delays or variations in parameters in the model. In addition, the effective reproduction number was proposed for the cities studied in Brazil, the result being relevant because it has a qualitative behavior similar to that published by official centers. This paper also discusses the implementation and optimization of social distancing and vaccination control strategies, considering different parameters and their effects on reducing the number of cases and deaths. The median path problem (min-sum criterion) is a common problem in graph theory and tree networks. This problem is open to study because its applications are growing and extending in different fields, such as providing insight for decision-makers when selecting the optimal location for non-emergency services, including railroad lines, highways, pipelines, and transit routes. Also, the min-sum criterion can deal with several networks in different applications. The location problem has traditionally been concerned with the optimal location of a single-point facility at either a vertex or along an edge in a network. Recently, numerous investigators have investigated this classic problem and have studied the location of many facilities, such as paths, trees, and cycles. The concept of the median, which measures the centrality of a vertex in a graph, is extended to the paths in a graph. In this paper, we consider the problem of locating path-shaped facilities on a tree network. A new modified and improved algorithm for finding a median single path facility of a specified length in a tree network is proposed. The median criterion for optimality considers the sum of the distances from all vertices of the tree to the path facility. This problem under the median criterion is called the ℓ-core problem. The distance between any two vertices in the tree is equal to the length of the unique path connecting them. Community structure is crucial for understanding network characteristics, and the local expansion method has performed well in detecting community structures. However, there are two problems with this method. Firstly, it can only add nodes or edges on the basis of existing clusters, and secondly, it can produce a large number of small communities. In this paper, we extend the local expansion method based on ordinary graph to hypergraph, and propose an effective hypernetwork community detection algorithm based on local expansion (LE) and global fusion (GF), which is referred to as HLEGF. The LE process obtains multiple small sub-hypergraphs by deleting and adding hyperedges, while the GF process optimizes the sub-hypergraphs generated by the local expansion process. To solve the first problem, the HLEGF algorithm introduces the concepts of community neighborhood and community boundary to delete some nodes and hyperedges in hypergraphs. To solve the second problem, the HLEGF algorithm establishes correlations between adjacent sub-hypergraphs through global fusion. We evaluated the performance of the HLEGF algorithm in the real hypernetwork and six synthetic random hypernetworks with different probabilities. Because the HLEGF algorithm introduces the concepts of community boundary and neighborhood, and the concept of a series of similarities, the algorithm has superiority. In the real hypernetwork, the HLEGF algorithm is consistent with the classical Spectral algorithm, while in the random hypernetwork, when the probability is not less than 0.95, the NMI value of the HLEGF algorithm is always greater than 0.92, and the RI value is always greater than 0.97. When the probability is 0.95, the HLEGF algorithm achieves a 2.3% improvement in the NMI value, compared to the Spectral algorithm. Fuzzy rough set theory has been successfully applied to many attribute reduction methods, in which the lower approximation set plays a pivotal role. However, the definition of lower approximation used has ignored the information conveyed by the upper approximation and the boundary region. This oversight has resulted in an unreasonable relation representation of the target set. Despite the fact that scholars have proposed numerous enhancements to rough set models, such as the variable precision model, none have successfully resolved the issues inherent in the classical models. To address this limitation, this paper proposes an unsupervised attribute reduction algorithm for mixed data based on an improved optimal approximation set. Firstly, the theory of an improved optimal approximation set and its associated algorithm are proposed. Subsequently, we extend the classical theory of optimal approximation sets to fuzzy rough set theory, leading to the development of a fuzzy improved approximation set method. Finally, building on the proposed theory, we introduce a novel, fuzzy optimal approximation-set-based unsupervised attribute reduction algorithm (FOUAR). Comparative experiments conducted with all the proposed algorithms indicate the efficacy of FOUAR in selecting fewer attributes while maintaining and improving the performance of the machine learning algorithm. Furthermore, they highlight the advantage of the improved optimal approximation set algorithm, which offers higher similarity to the target set and provides a more concise expression. In this paper, we propose an outlier-detection algorithm for detecting network traffic anomalies based on a clustering algorithm and an autoencoder model. The BIRCH clustering algorithm is employed as the pre-algorithm of the autoencoder to pre-classify datasets with complex data distribution characteristics, while the autoencoder model is used to detect outliers based on a threshold. The proposed BIRCH-Autoencoder (BAE) algorithm has been tested on four network security datasets, KDDCUP99, UNSW-NB15, CICIDS2017, and NSL-KDD, and compared with representative algorithms. The BAE algorithm achieved average F-scores of 96.160, 81.132, and 91.424 on the KDDCUP99, UNSW-NB15, and CICIDS2017 datasets, respectively. Differential evolution (DE) is one of the most popular and widely used optimizers among the community of evolutionary computation. Despite numerous works having been conducted on the improvement of DE performance, there are still some defects, such as premature convergence and stagnation. In order to alleviate them, this paper presents a novel DE variant by designing a new mutation operator (named "DE/current-to-pbest_id/1") and a new control parameter setting. In the new operator, the fitness value of the individual is adopted to determine the chosen scope of its guider among the population. Meanwhile, a group-based competitive control parameter setting is presented to ensure the various search potentials of the population and the adaptivity of the algorithm. In this setting, the whole population is randomly divided into multiple equivalent groups, the control parameters for each group are independently generated based on its location information, and the worst location information among all groups is competitively updated with the current successful parameters. Moreover, a piecewise population size reduction mechanism is further devised to enhance the exploration and exploitation of the algorithm at the early and later evolution stages, respectively. Differing from the previous DE versions, the proposed method adaptively adjusts the search capability of each individual, simultaneously utilizes multiple pieces of successful parameter information to generate the control parameters, and has different speeds to reduce the population size at different search stages. Then it could achieve the well trade-off of exploration and exploitation. In this paper, a new multi-parameter iterative algorithm is proposed to address the PageRank problem based on the multi-splitting iteration method. The proposed method solves two linear subsystems at each iteration by splitting the coefficient matrix, considering therefore inner and outer iteration to find the approximate solutions of these linear subsystems. It can be shown that the iterative sequence generated by the multi-parameter iterative algorithm finally converges to the PageRank vector when the parameters satisfy certain conditions. Metaheuristic optimization algorithms play a crucial role in optimization problems. However, the traditional identification methods have the following problems: (1) difficulties in nonlinear data processing; (2) high error rates caused by local stagnation; and (3) low classification rates resulting from premature convergence. This paper proposed a variant based on the gray wolf optimization algorithm (GWO) with chaotic disturbance, candidate migration, and attacking mechanisms, naming it the enhanced gray wolf optimizer (EGWO), to solve the problem of premature convergence and local stagnation. The performance of the EGWO was tested on IEEE CEC 2014 benchmark functions, and the results of the EGWO were compared with the performance of three GWO variants, five traditional and popular algorithms, and six recent algorithms. In addition, EGWO optimized the weights and biases of a multi-layer perceptron (MLP) and proposed an EGWO-MLP disease identification model; the model was tested on IEEE CEC 2014 benchmark functions, and EGWO-MLP was verified by UCI dataset including Tic-Tac-Toe, Heart, XOR, and Balloon datasets. Predicting the long-term lifetime of power MOSFET devices plays a central role in the prevention of unprecedented failures for power MOSFETs used in safety-critical applications. The various traditional model-based approaches and statistical and filtering algorithms for prognostics have limitations in terms of handling the dynamic nature of failure precursor degradation data for these devices. In this paper, a prognostic model based on LSTM and GRU is developed that aims at estimating the long-term lifetime of discrete power MOSFETs using dominant failure precursor degradation data. An accelerated power cycling test has been designed and executed to collect failure precursor data. For this purpose, commercially available power MOSFETs passed through power cycling tests at different temperature swing conditions and potential failure precursor data were collected using an automated curve tracer after certain intervals. The on-state resistance degradation data identified as one of the dominant failure precursors and potential aging precursors has been analyzed using RNN, LSTM, and GRU-based algorithms. The LSTM and GRU models have been found to be superior compared to RNN, with MAPE of 0.9%, 0.78%, and 1.72% for MOSFET 1; 0.90%, 0.66%, and 0.6% for MOSFET 5; and 1.05%, 0.9%, and 0.78%, for MOSFET 9, respectively, predicted at 40,000 cycles. In addition, the robustness of these methods is examined using training data at 24,000 and 54,000 cycles of starting points and is able to predict the long-term lifetime accurately, as evaluated by MAPE, MSE, and RMSE metrics. In general, the prediction results showed that the prognostics algorithms developed were trained to provide effective, accurate, and useful lifetime predictions and were found to address the reliability concerns of power MOSFET devices for practical applications. In this paper, firstly, we studied the relationship between negative concept lattices with increasing the granularity sizes of the attributes. Aiming to do this, negative concepts and covering relations were both classified into three types, and the sufficient and necessary conditions of distinguishing these kinds of negative concepts and covering relations are given, respectively. Due to their rich information, color images are frequently utilized in many different industries, but the network's security in handling their delivery of images must be taken into account. To improve the security and efficiency of color images, this paper proposed a color image encryption algorithm based on cross-spiral transformation and zone diffusion. The proposed algorithm is based on Chen's system and the piecewise linear chaotic map, and uses the chaotic sequences generated by them for related operations. Firstly, the R, G and B planes are extracted, and the spiral starting point of each plane is randomly selected by the chaotic sequence to implement the cross-spiral transformation. Secondly, the bit-level image matrix is constructed by the scrambled image matrix, and the bit-level chaotic matrix is constructed by the chaotic sequence. Finally, the three-dimensional matrix is divided into four zones by a dividing line, and partition diffusion is carried out to obtain the encrypted image. In his recent research, M. K. Tam (2018) considered a framework for the analysis of iterative algorithms which can be described in terms of a structured set-valued operator. At each point in the ambient space, the value of the operator can be expressed as a finite union of values of single-valued para-contracting operators. He showed that the associated fixed point iteration is locally convergent around strong fixed points. In the present paper we generalize the result of Tam and show the global convergence of his algorithm for an arbitrary starting point. The LU factorization of very large sparse matrices requires a significant amount of computing resources, including memory and broadband communication. A hybrid MPI + OpenMP + CUDA algorithm named SuperLU3D can efficiently compute the LU factorization with GPU acceleration. However, this algorithm faces difficulties when dealing with very large sparse matrices with limited GPU resources. Factorizing very large matrices involves a vast amount of nonblocking communication between processes, often leading to a break in SuperLU3D calculation due to the overflow of cluster communication buffers. In this paper, we present an improved GPU-accelerated algorithm named SuperLU3D_Alternate for the LU factorization of very large sparse matrices with fewer GPU resources. The basic idea is "divide and conquer", which means dividing a very large matrix into multiple submatrices, performing LU factorization on each submatrix, and then assembling the factorized results of all submatrices into two complete matrices L and U. In detail, according to the number of available GPUs, a very large matrix is first divided into multiple submatrices using the elimination tree. Then, the LU factorization of each submatrix is alternately computed with limited GPU resources, and its intermediate LU factors from GPUs are saved to the host memory or hard disk. Finally, after finishing the LU factorization of all submatrices, these factorized submatrices are assembled into a complete lower triangular matrix L and a complete upper triangular matrix U, respectively. The SuperLU3D_Alternate algorithm is suitable for hybrid CPU/GPU cluster systems, especially for a subset of nodes without GPUs. To accommodate different hardware resources in various clusters, we designed the algorithm to run in the following three cases: sufficient memory for GPU nodes, insufficient memory for GPU nodes, and insufficient memory for the entire cluster. The results from LU factorization test on different matrices in various cases show that the larger the matrix is, the more efficient this algorithm is under the same GPU memory consumption. In our numerical experiments, SuperLU3D_Alternate achieves speeds of up to 8× that of SuperLU3D (CPU only) and 2.5× that of SuperLU3D (CPU + GPU) on the hybrid cluster with six Tesla V100S GPUs. Furthermore, when the matrix is too big to be handled by SuperLU3D, SuperLU3D_Alternate can still utilize the cluster's host memory or hard disk to solve it. By reducing the amount of data exchange to prevent exceeding the buffer's limit of the cluster MPI nonblocking communication, our algorithm enhances the stability of the program. This paper presents the development of a novel algorithm for unsupervised learning called RUN-ICON (Reduce UNcertainty and Increase CONfidence). The primary objective of the algorithm is to enhance the reliability and confidence of unsupervised clustering. RUN-ICON leverages the K-means++ method to identify the most frequently occurring dominant centres through multiple repetitions. It distinguishes itself from existing K-means variants by introducing novel metrics, such as the Clustering Dominance Index and Uncertainty, instead of relying solely on the Sum of Squared Errors, for identifying the most dominant clusters. The algorithm exhibits notable characteristics such as robustness, high-quality clustering, automation, and flexibility. Membrane computing is a branch of natural computing which has been extended to solve various optimization problems. A hybrid mode membrane-computing-based algorithm (HMMCA) is proposed in this paper to solve complex unconstrained optimization problems with continuous variables. The algorithmic framework of HMMCA translates from its distributed cell-like membrane structure and communication rule. A non-deterministic evolutionary programming method and two computational rules are applied to enhance the computational performance. In a numerical simulation, 12 benchmark test functions with different variables are used to verify the algorithmic performance. The test results and comparison with three other algorithms illustrate its effectiveness and superiority. Complex systems provide an opportunity to analyze the essence of phenomena by studying their intricate connections. The networks formed by these connections, known as complex networks, embody the underlying principles governing the system's behavior. While complex networks have been previously applied in the field of evolutionary computation, prior studies have been limited in their ability to reach conclusive conclusions. Based on our investigations, we are against the notion that there is a direct link between the complex network structure of an algorithm and its performance, and we demonstrate this experimentally. In this paper, we address these limitations by analyzing the dynamic complex network structures of five algorithms across three different problems. By incorporating mathematical distributions utilized in prior research, we not only generate novel insights but also refine and challenge previous conclusions. Specifically, we introduce the biased Poisson distribution to describe the algorithm's exploration capability and the biased power-law distribution to represent its exploitation potential during the convergence process. Our aim is to redirect research on the interplay between complex networks and evolutionary computation towards dynamic network structures, elucidating the essence of exploitation and exploration in the black-box optimization process of evolutionary algorithms via dynamic complex networks. In this paper, we introduce and study a modified Mann-type algorithm that combines inertial terms for solving common fixed point problems of two countable families of nonexpansive mappings in Hilbert spaces. Under appropriate assumptions on the sequences of parameters, we establish a strong convergence result for the sequence generated by the proposed method in finding a common fixed point of two countable families of nonexpansive mappings. This paper introduces an innovative extension of the DIRECT algorithm specifically designed to solve global optimization problems that involve Lipschitz continuous functions subject to linear constraints. Our approach builds upon recent advancements in DIRECT-type algorithms, incorporating novel techniques for partitioning and selecting potential optimal hyper-rectangles. A key contribution lies in applying a new mapping technique to eliminate the infeasible region efficiently. This allows calculations to be performed only within the feasible region defined by linear constraints. This paper presents a solution for efficiently and accurately solving separable least squares problems with multiple datasets. These problems involve determining linear parameters that are specific to each dataset while ensuring that the nonlinear parameters remain consistent across all datasets. A well-established approach for solving such problems is the variable projection algorithm introduced by Golub and LeVeque, which effectively reduces a separable problem to its nonlinear component. However, this algorithm assumes that the datasets have equal sizes and identical auxiliary model parameters. This article is motivated by a real-world remote sensing application where these assumptions do not apply. Consequently, we propose a generalized algorithm that extends the original theory to overcome these limitations. The new algorithm has been implemented and tested using both synthetic and real satellite data for atmospheric carbon dioxide retrievals. It has also been compared to conventional state-of-the-art solvers, and its advantages are thoroughly discussed. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm significantly outperforms all other methods in terms of computation time, while maintaining comparable accuracy and stability. In landslide disaster warning, a variety of monitoring and warning methods are commonly adopted. However, most monitoring and warning methods cannot provide information in advance, and serious losses are often caused when landslides occur. To advance the warning time before a landslide, an innovative advance landslide prediction and warning model based on a stacking fusion algorithm using Baishuihe landslide data is proposed in this paper. The Baishuihe landslide area is characterized by unique soil and is in the Three Gorges region of China, with a subtropical monsoon climate. Based on Baishuihe historical data and real-time monitoring of the landslide state, four warning level thresholds and trigger conditions for each warning level are established. The model effectively integrates the results of multiple prediction and warning submodels to provide predictions and advance warnings through the fusion of two stacking learning layers. The possibility that a risk priority strategy can be used as a substitute for the stacking model is also discussed. Finally, an experimental simulation verifies that the proposed improved model can not only provide advance landslide warning but also effectively reduce the frequency of false warnings and mitigate the issues of traditional single models. Many analog neural network approaches for sparse recovery were based on using ℓ 1 -norm as the surrogate of ℓ 0 -norm. This paper proposes an analog neural network model, namely the Lagrange programming neural network with ℓ p objective and quadratic constraint (LPNN-LPQC), with an ℓ 0 -norm sparsity measurement for solving the constrained basis pursuit denoise (CBPDN) problem. As the ℓ 0 -norm is non-differentiable, we first use a differentiable ℓ p -norm-like function to approximate the ℓ 0 -norm. However, this ℓ p -norm-like function does not have an explicit expression and, thus, we use the locally competitive algorithm (LCA) concept to handle the nonexistence of the explicit expression. With the LCA approach, the dynamics are defined by the internal state vector. In the proposed model, the thresholding elements are not conventional analog elements in analog optimization. This paper also proposes a circuit realization for the thresholding elements. In the theoretical side, we prove that the equilibrium points of our proposed method satisfy Karush Kuhn Tucker (KKT) conditions of the approximated CBPDN problem, and that the equilibrium points of our proposed method are asymptotically stable. We perform a large scale simulation on various algorithms and analog models. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm is better than or comparable to several state-of-art numerical algorithms, and that it is better than state-of-art analog neural models. This article considers a box-constrained global optimization problem for Lipschitz continuous functions with an unknown Lipschitz constant. The well-known derivative-free global search algorithm DIRECT (DIvide RECTangle) is a promising approach for such problems. Several studies have shown that recent two-step (global and local) Pareto selection-based algorithms are very efficient among all DIRECT-type approaches. However, despite its encouraging performance, it was also observed that the candidate selection procedure has two possible shortcomings. First, there is no limit on how small the size of selected candidates can be. Secondly, a balancing strategy between global and local candidate selection is missing. Therefore, it may waste function evaluations by over-exploring the current local minimum and delaying finding the global one. This paper reviews and employs different strategies in a two-step Pareto selection framework (1-DTC-GL) to overcome these limitations. A detailed experimental study has revealed that existing strategies do not always improve and sometimes even worsen results. Since 1-DTC-GL is a DIRECT-type algorithm, the results of this paper provide general guidance for all DIRECT-type algorithms on how to deal with excessive local refinement more efficiently. The Identification State (IS) of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) robot systems changes continuously with the environment, so improving the identification efficiency of RFID robot systems requires adaptive control of system parameters through real-time evaluation of the IS. This paper first expounds on the important roles of the real-time evaluation of the IS and adaptive control of parameters in the RFID robot systems. Secondly, a method for real-time evaluation of the IS of UHF passive RFID robot systems in dynamic scenarios based on principal component analysis (PCA)-K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) is proposed and establishes an experimental scene to complete algorithm verification. The results show that the accuracy of the real-time evaluation method of IS based on PCA-KNN is 92.4%, and the running time of a single data is 0.258 ms, compared with other algorithms. The proposed evaluation method has higher accuracy and shorter running time. Finally, this paper proposes a Q-learning-based adaptive control algorithm for RFID robot systems. This method dynamically controls the reader's transmission power and the robot's moving speed according to the IS fed back by the system; compared with the default parameters, the adaptive control algorithm effectively improves the identification rate of the system, the power consumption under the adaptive parameters is reduced by 36.4%, and the time spent decreases by 29.7%. This paper presents a communication algorithm in which a grayscale image, shared between two parties, can be used to transmit a secret message, by applying the idea introduced in the B92 quantum protocol. The least significant qubits of the pixels' representation in certain regions of the image are used. With the help of a server, the algorithm generates a random message, which can further act as a secret key for cryptographic algorithms in order to secure the data that two parties might want to exchange later on. The chosen representation of the image is NEQR (novel enhanced quantum representation) and the platform used for testing the described idea is IBM Quantum Experience, along with the open-source Python framework called Qiskit. This solution allows users to design, implement quantum circuits (containing various quantum gates), and simulate them using real devices and local simulators. Consensus protocols stand behind the success of blockchain technology. This is because parties that distrust each other can make secure transactions without the oversight of a central authority. The first consensus protocol emerged with Bitcoin. Since then, many others have appeared. Some of them have been implemented by official blockchain platforms, whereas others, for the time being, remain as proposals. A blockchain consensus is a trade-off. The new solutions promise to overcome the known drawbacks of blockchain, but they may also bring new vulnerabilities. Moreover, blockchain performance metrics are not clearly defined, as some metrics, such as delay and throughput, which are key factors for the efficiency of standard networks, are purposely constrained by most mainstream blockchain platforms. The main body of this paper consolidates knowledge of blockchains, focusing on the seminal consensus protocols in large-scale market capitalization platforms, and how consensus is achieved for large-scale, decentralized, blockchain architectures. The benefits, limitations, and tradeoffs, as well as the subsequent trend in current consensus development, and its limitations as a general paradigm, are highlighted. Recycling tasks are the most effective method for reducing waste generation, protecting the environment, and boosting the overall national economy. The productivity and effectiveness of the recycling process are strongly dependent on the cleanliness and precision of processed primary sources. However, recycling operations are often labor intensive, and computer vision and deep learning (DL) techniques aid in automatically detecting and classifying trash types during recycling chores. Due to the dimensional challenge posed by pre-trained CNN networks, the scientific community has developed numerous techniques inspired by biology, swarm intelligence theory, physics, and mathematical rules. This research applies a new meta-heuristic algorithm called the artificial hummingbird algorithm (AHA) to solving the waste classification problem based on feature selection. However, the performance of the AHA is barely satisfactory; it may be stuck in optimal local regions or have a slow convergence. To overcome these limitations, this paper develops two improved versions of the AHA called the AHA-ROBL and the AHA-OBL. These two versions enhance the exploitation stage by using random opposition-based learning (ROBL) and opposition-based learning (OBL) to prevent local optima and accelerate the convergence. The main purpose of this paper is to apply the AHA-ROBL and AHA-OBL to select the relevant deep features provided by two pre-trained models of CNN (VGG19 & ResNet20) to recognize a waste classification. The TrashNet dataset is used to verify the performance of the two proposed approaches (the AHA-ROBL and AHA-OBL). The effectiveness of the suggested methods (the AHA-ROBL and AHA-OBL) is compared with that of 12 modern and competitive optimizers, namely the artificial hummingbird algorithm (AHA), Harris hawks optimizer (HHO), Salp swarm algorithm (SSA), aquila optimizer (AO), Henry gas solubility optimizer (HGSO), particle swarm optimizer (PSO), grey wolf optimizer (GWO), Archimedes optimization algorithm (AOA), manta ray foraging optimizer (MRFO), sine cosine algorithm (SCA), marine predators algorithm (MPA), and rescue optimization algorithm (SAR). A fair evaluation of the proposed algorithms' performance is achieved using the same dataset. The performance analysis of the two proposed algorithms is applied in terms of different measures. In this paper, we present a novel variational wavelet inpainting based on the total variation (TV) regularization and the l1-norm fitting term. The goal of this model is to recover incomplete wavelet coefficients in the presence of impulsive noise. By incorporating the Moreau envelope, the proposed model for wavelet inpainting can better handle the non-differentiability of the l1-norm fitting term. A modified primal dual fixed-point algorithm is developed based on the proximity operator to solve the proposed variational model. To cope with increasingly complex models of engineering design problems and to obtain more accurate design solutions, this paper proposed an improved population-based, bio-inspired optimization algorithm, called the pity beetle algorithm based on pheromone dispersion model (PBA-PDM). PBA-PDM enables a local and global search for optimization problems through the pheromone release mechanisms in female beetles and the interaction relationship between male beetles. The experimental results compared with other state-of-the-art metaheuristic optimization algorithms show that PBA-PDM has an ideal performance when dealing with both classical test functions and CEC2017 benchmark test functions. In order to effectively obtain the winter wheat growing area in a large part of the Guanzhong plain, this paper proposes a random forest Guanzhong plain winter wheat extraction algorithm based on spatial features of neighborhood samples using the 250 m resolution spectral imager (MERSI) of the FY-3 satellite as the data source. In this paper, first, the training and validation samples were obtained by constructing a neighborhood sample space sampling model, then the study area was classified using an integrated learning random forest Classifier, and finally the classification data obtained from different time phases were fused using voting game theory to obtain the final classification result map. The land use change and winter wheat distribution change from 2011 to 2014 were also analyzed. The experimental results showed that the overall accuracy of winter wheat obtained after random forest fusion processing was the highest compared with the traditional algorithm, reaching 98.63%. At the same time, LANDSAT 8 images were used to obtain the distribution of winter wheat, and the distribution areas obtained from MERSI data and LANDSAT 8 images were generally consistent in terms of spatial distribution as shown by the distribution areas at the county scale. This paper introduces an improved sequential convex programming algorithm using adaptive non-uniform discretization for the hypersonic entry problem. In order to ensure real-time performance, an inverse-free precise discretization based on first-order hold discretization is adopted to obtain a high-accuracy solution with fewer temporal nodes, which would lead to constraint violation between the temporal nodes due to the sparse time grid. To deal with this limitation, an adaptive non-uniform discretization is developed, which provides a search direction for purposeful clustering of discrete points by adding penalty terms in the problem construction process. Numerical results show that the proposed method has fast convergence with high accuracy while all the path constraints are satisfied over the time horizon, thus giving potential to real-time trajectory planning.
