Scene text detection is an important research field in computer vision, playing a crucial role in various application scenarios. However, existing scene text detection methods often fail to achieve satisfactory results when faced with text instances of different sizes, shapes, and complex backgrounds. To address the challenge of detecting diverse texts in natural scenes, this paper proposes a multi-scale natural scene text detection method based on attention feature extraction and cascaded feature fusion. This method combines global and local attention through an improved attention feature fusion module (DSAF) to capture text features of different scales, enhancing the network's perception of text regions and improving its feature extraction capabilities. Simultaneously, an improved cascaded feature fusion module (PFFM) is used to fully integrate the extracted feature maps, expanding the receptive field of features and enriching the expressive ability of the feature maps. Finally, to address the cascaded feature maps, a lightweight subspace attention module (SAM) is introduced to partition the concatenated feature maps into several sub-space feature maps, facilitating spatial information interaction among features of different scales. In this paper, comparative experiments are conducted on the ICDAR2015, Total-Text, and MSRA-TD500 datasets, and comparisons are made with some existing scene text detection methods. With the increasing complexity of the grid meter dial, precise feature extraction is becoming more and more difficult. Many automatic recognition solutions have been proposed for grid meter readings. However, traditional inspection methods cannot guarantee detection accuracy in complex environments. So, deep-learning methods are combined with grid meter recognition. Existing recognition systems that utilize segmentation models exhibit very high computation. It is challenging to ensure high real-time performance in edge computing devices. Therefore, an improved meter recognition model based on YOLOv7 is proposed in this paper. Partial convolution (PConv) is introduced into YOLOv7 to create a lighter network. Different PConv introduction locations on the base module have been used in order to find the optimal approach for reducing the parameters and floating point of operations (FLOPs). Meanwhile, the dynamic head (DyHead) module is utilized to enhance the attention mechanism for the YOLOv7 model. It can improve the detection accuracy of striped objects. As a result, this paper achieves mAP 50 v a l of 97.87% and mAP 50 : 90 v a l of 62.4% with only 5.37 M parameters. The improved model's inference speed can reach 108 frames per second (FPS). Detecting pipeline leaks is an essential factor in maintaining the integrity of fluid transport systems. This paper introduces an advanced deep learning framework that uses continuous wavelet transform (CWT) images for precise detection of such leaks. Transforming acoustic signals from pipelines under various conditions into CWT scalograms, followed by signal processing by non-local means and adaptive histogram equalization, results in new enhanced leak-induced scalograms (ELIS) that capture detailed energy fluctuations across time-frequency scales. The fundamental approach takes advantage of a deep belief network (DBN) fine-tuned with a genetic algorithm (GA) and unified with a least squares support vector machine (LSSVM) to improve feature extraction and classification accuracy. The DBN-GA framework precisely extracts informative features, while the LSSVM classifier precisely distinguishes between leaky and non-leak conditions. By concentrating solely on the advanced capabilities of ELIS processed through an optimized DBN-GA-LSSVM model, this research achieves high detection accuracy and reliability, making a significant contribution to pipeline monitoring and maintenance. Visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (V-SLAM) plays a crucial role in the development of intelligent robotics and autonomous navigation systems. However, it still faces significant challenges in handling highly dynamic environments. The prevalent method currently used for dynamic object recognition in the environment is deep learning. However, models such as Yolov5 and Mask R-CNN require significant computational resources, which limits their potential in real-time applications due to hardware and time constraints. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes ADM-SLAM, a visual SLAM system designed for dynamic environments that builds upon the ORB-SLAM2. This system integrates efficient adaptive feature point homogenization extraction, lightweight deep learning semantic segmentation based on an improved DeepLabv3, and multi-view geometric segmentation. It optimizes keyframe extraction, segments potential dynamic objects using contextual information with the semantic segmentation network, and detects the motion states of dynamic objects using multi-view geometric methods, thereby eliminating dynamic interference points. The results indicate that ADM-SLAM outperforms ORB-SLAM2 in dynamic environments, especially in high-dynamic scenes, where it achieves up to a 97% reduction in Absolute Trajectory Error (ATE). Intelligent fault diagnostics based on deep learning provides a favorable guarantee for the reliable operation of equipment, but a trained deep learning model generally has low prediction accuracy in cross-domain diagnostics. To solve this problem, a deep learning fault diagnosis method based on the reconstructed envelope spectrum is proposed to improve the ability of rolling bearing cross-domain fault diagnostics in this paper. First, based on the envelope spectrum morphology of rolling bearing failures, a standard envelope spectrum is constructed that reveals the unique characteristics of different bearing health states and eliminates the differences between domains due to different bearing speeds and bearing models. Then, a fault diagnosis model was constructed using a convolutional neural network to learn features and complete fault classification. Finally, using two publicly available bearing data sets and one bearing data set obtained by self-experimentation, the proposed method is applied to the data of the fault diagnostics of rolling bearings under different rotational speeds and different bearing types. The experimental results show that, compared with some popular feature extraction methods, the proposed method can achieve high diagnostic accuracy with data at different rotational speeds and different bearing types, and it is an effective method for solving the problem with cross-domain fault diagnostics for rolling bearings. In recent years, deep learning methods have achieved remarkable success in hyperspectral image classification (HSIC), and the utilization of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) has proven to be highly effective. However, there are still several critical issues that need to be addressed in the HSIC task, such as the lack of labeled training samples, which constrains the classification accuracy and generalization ability of CNNs. To address this problem, a deep multi-scale attention fusion network (DMAF-NET) is proposed in this paper. This network is based on multi-scale features and fully exploits the deep features of samples from multiple levels and different perspectives with an aim to enhance HSIC results using limited samples. The innovation of this article is mainly reflected in three aspects: Firstly, a novel baseline network for multi-scale feature extraction is designed with a pyramid structure and densely connected 3D octave convolutional network enabling the extraction of deep-level information from features at different granularities. Secondly, a multi-scale spatial–spectral attention module and a pyramidal multi-scale channel attention module are designed, respectively. This allows modeling of the comprehensive dependencies of coordinates and directions, local and global, in four dimensions. Finally, a multi-attention fusion module is designed to effectively combine feature mappings extracted from multiple branches. Deep learning methodologies employed for biomass prediction often neglect the intricate relationships between labels and samples, resulting in suboptimal predictive performance. This paper introduces an advanced supervised contrastive learning technique, termed Improved Supervised Contrastive Deep Regression (SCDR), which is adept at effectively capturing the nuanced relationships between samples and labels in the feature space, thereby mitigating this limitation. Simultaneously, we propose the U-like Hierarchical Residual Fusion Network (BioUMixer), a bespoke biomass prediction network tailored for image data. BioUMixer enhances feature extraction from biomass image data, facilitating information exchange and fusion while considering both global and local features within the images. The efficacy of the proposed method is validated on the Pepper_Biomass dataset, which encompasses over 600 original images paired with corresponding biomass labels. The results demonstrate a noteworthy enhancement in deep regression tasks, as evidenced by performance metrics on the Pepper_Biomass dataset, including RMSE = 252.18, MAE = 201.98, and MAPE = 0.107. Additionally, assessment on the publicly accessible GrassClover dataset yields metrics of RMSE = 47.92, MAE = 31.74, and MAPE = 0.192. Long-term, automated fish detection provides invaluable data for deep-sea aquaculture, which is crucial for safe and efficient seawater aquafarming. In this paper, we used an infrared camera installed on a deep-sea truss-structure net cage to collect fish images, which were subsequently labeled to establish a fish dataset. Comparison experiments with our dataset based on Faster R-CNN as the basic objection detection framework were conducted to explore how different backbone networks and network improvement modules influenced fish detection performances. Furthermore, we also experimented with the effects of different learning rates, feature extraction layers, and data augmentation strategies. Our results showed that Faster R-CNN with the EfficientNetB0 backbone and FPN module was the most competitive fish detection network for our dataset, since it took a significantly shorter detection time while maintaining a high AP50 value of 0.85, compared to the best AP50 value of 0.86 being achieved by the combination of VGG16 with all improvement modules plus data augmentation. Deep transfer learning has been widely used to improve the versatility of models. In the problem of cross-domain fault diagnosis in rolling bearings, most models require that the given data have a similar distribution, which limits the diagnostic effect and generalization of the model. This paper proposes a deep reconstruction transfer convolutional neural network (DRTCNN), which satisfies the domain adaptability of the model under cross-domain conditions. Firstly, the model uses a deep reconstruction convolutional automatic encoder for feature extraction and data reconstruction. Through sharing parameters and unsupervised training, the structural information of target domain samples is effectively used to extract domain-invariant features. Secondly, a new subdomain alignment loss function is introduced to align the subdomain distribution of the source domain and the target domain, which can improve the classification accuracy by reducing the intra-class distance and increasing the inter-class distance. In addition, a label smoothing algorithm considering the credibility of the sample is introduced to train the model classifier to avoid the impact of wrong labels on the training process. Deep learning promotes the breakthrough of emotion recognition in many fields, especially speech emotion recognition (SER). As an important part of speech emotion recognition, the most relevant acoustic feature extraction has always attracted the attention of existing researchers. Aiming at the problem that the emotional information contained in the current speech signals is distributed dispersedly and cannot comprehensively integrate local and global information, this paper presents a network model based on a gated recurrent unit (GRU) and multi-head attention. We evaluate our proposed emotion model on the IEMOCAP and Emo-DB corpora. The experimental results show that the network model based on Bi-GRU and multi-head attention is significantly better than the traditional network model at detecting multiple evaluation indicators. Ship detection is vital for maritime safety and vessel monitoring, but challenges like false and missed detections persist, particularly in complex backgrounds, multiple scales, and adverse weather conditions. This paper presents YOLO-Vessel, a ship detection model built upon YOLOv7, which incorporates several innovations to improve its performance. First, we devised a novel backbone network structure called Efficient Layer Aggregation Networks and Omni-Dimensional Dynamic Convolution (ELAN-ODConv). This architecture effectively addresses the complex background interference commonly encountered in maritime ship images, thereby improving the model's feature extraction capabilities. Additionally, we introduce the space-to-depth structure in the head network, which can solve the problem of small ship targets in images that are difficult to detect. Furthermore, we introduced ASFFPredict, a predictive network structure addressing scale variation among ship types, bolstering multiscale ship target detection. Experimental results demonstrate YOLO-Vessel's effectiveness, achieving a 78.3% mean average precision (mAP), surpassing YOLOv7 by 2.3% and Faster R-CNN by 11.6%. It maintains real-time detection at 8.0 ms/frame, meeting real-time ship detection needs. This paper proposes a new fault diagnosis method for centrifugal pumps by combining signal processing with deep learning techniques. Centrifugal pumps facilitate fluid transport through the energy generated by the impeller. Throughout the operation, variations in the fluid pressure at the pump's inlet may impact the generalization of traditional machine learning models trained on raw statistical features. To address this concern, first, vibration signals are collected from centrifugal pumps, followed by the application of a lowpass filter to isolate frequencies indicative of faults. These signals are then subjected to a continuous wavelet transform and Stockwell transform, generating two distinct time–frequency scalograms. The Sobel filter is employed to further highlight essential features within these scalograms. For feature extraction, this approach employs two parallel convolutional autoencoders, each tailored for a specific scalogram type. Subsequently, extracted features are merged into a unified feature pool, which forms the basis for training a two-layer artificial neural network, with the aim of achieving accurate fault classification. The proposed method is validated using three distinct datasets obtained from the centrifugal pump under varying inlet fluid pressures. Myocardial Infarction (MI), commonly known as heart attack, is a cardiac condition characterized by damage to a portion of the heart, specifically the myocardium, due to the disruption of blood flow. Given its recurring and often asymptomatic nature, there is the need for continuous monitoring using wearable devices. This paper proposes a single-microcontroller-based system designed for the automatic detection of MI based on the Edge Computing paradigm. Two solutions for MI detection are evaluated, based on Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL) techniques. The developed algorithms are based on two different approaches currently available in the literature, and they are optimized for deployment on low-resource hardware. A feasibility assessment of their implementation on a single 32-bit microcontroller with an ARM Cortex-M4 core was examined, and a comparison in terms of accuracy, inference time, and memory usage was detailed. For ML techniques, significant data processing for feature extraction, coupled with a simpler Neural Network (NN) is involved. On the other hand, the second method, based on DL, employs a Spectrogram Analysis for feature extraction and a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) with a longer inference time and higher memory utilization. Both methods employ the same low power hardware reaching an accuracy of 89.40% and 94.76%, respectively. The final prototype is an energy-efficient system capable of real-time detection of MI without the need to connect to remote servers or the cloud. The characteristics of acoustic emission signals generated in the process of rock deformation and fission contain rich information on internal rock damage. The use of acoustic emissions monitoring technology can analyze and identify the precursor information of rock failure. At present, in the field of acoustic emissions monitoring and the early warning of rock fracture disasters, there is no real-time identification method for a disaster precursor characteristic signal. It is easy to lose information by analyzing the characteristic parameters of traditional acoustic emissions to find signals that serve as precursors to disasters, and analysis has mostly been based on post-analysis, which leads to poor real-time recognition of disaster precursor characteristics and low application levels in the engineering field. Based on this, this paper regards the acoustic emissions signal of rock fracture as a kind of speech signal generated by rock fracture uses this idea of speech recognition for reference alongside spectral analysis (STFT) and Mel frequency analysis to realize the feature extraction of acoustic emissions from rock fracture. In deep learning, based on the VGG16 convolutional neural network and AlexNet convolutional neural network, six intelligent real-time recognition models of rock fracture and key acoustic emission signals were constructed, and the network structure and loss function of traditional VGG16 were optimized. The experimental results show that these six deep-learning models can achieve the real-time intelligent recognition of key signals, and Mel, combined with the improved VGG16, achieved the best performance with 87.68% accuracy and 81.05% recall. Then, by comparing multiple groups of signal recognition models, Mel+VGG-FL proposed in this paper was verified as having a high recognition accuracy and certain recognition efficiency, performing the intelligent real-time recognition of key acoustic emission signals in the process of rock fracture more accurately, which can provide new ideas and methods for related research and the real-time intelligent recognition of rock fracture precursor characteristics. Aiming at the problems of the poor recognition effect and low recognition rate of the existing methods in the process of belt deviation detection, this paper proposes a real-time belt deviation detection method. Firstly, ResNet18 combined with the attention mechanism module is used as a feature extraction network to enhance the features in the belt edge region and suppress the features in other regions. Then, the extracted features are used to predict the approximate locations of the belt edges using a classifier based on the contextual information on the fully connected layer. Next, the improved gradient equation is used as a structural loss in the model training stage to make the model prediction value closer to the target value. Then, the authors of this paper use the least squares method to fit the set of detected belt edge line points to obtain the accurate belt edge straight line. Finally, the deviation threshold is set according to the requirements of the safety production code, and the fitting results are compared with the threshold to achieve the belt deviation detection. Comparisons are made with four other methods: ultrafast structure-aware deep lane detection, end-to-end wireframe parsing, LSD, and the Hough transform. The results show that the proposed method is the fastest at 41 frames/sec; the accuracy is improved by 0.4%, 13.9%, 45.9%, and 78.8% compared to the other four methods; and the F1-score index is improved by 0.3%, 10.2%, 32.6%, and 72%, respectively, which meets the requirements of practical engineering applications. Gestures have been used for nonverbal communication for a long time, but human–computer interaction (HCI) via gestures is becoming more common in the modern era. To obtain a greater recognition rate, the traditional interface comprises various devices, such as gloves, physical controllers, and markers. This study provides a new markerless technique for obtaining gestures without the need for any barriers or pricey hardware. In this paper, dynamic gestures are first converted into frames. The noise is removed, and intensity is adjusted for feature extraction. The hand gesture is first detected through the images, and the skeleton is computed through mathematical computations. From the skeleton, the features are extracted; these features include joint color cloud, neural gas, and directional active model. After that, the features are optimized, and a selective feature set is passed through the classifier recurrent neural network (RNN) to obtain the classification results with higher accuracy. The proposed model is experimentally assessed and trained over three datasets: HaGRI, Egogesture, and Jester. The experimental results for the three datasets provided improved results based on classification, and the proposed system achieved an accuracy of 92.57% over HaGRI, 91.86% over Egogesture, and 91.57% over the Jester dataset, respectively. Also, to check the model liability, the proposed method was tested on the WLASL dataset, attaining 90.43% accuracy. As the demand for Internet access increases, malicious traffic on the Internet has soared also. In view of the fact that the existing malicious-traffic-identification methods suffer from low accuracy, this paper proposes a malicious-traffic-identification method based on contrastive learning. The proposed method is able to overcome the shortcomings of traditional methods that rely on labeled samples and is able to learn data feature representations carrying semantic information from unlabeled data, thus improving the model accuracy. In this paper, a new malicious traffic feature extraction model based on a Transformer is proposed. Employing a self-attention mechanism, the proposed feature extraction model can extract the bytes features of malicious traffic by performing calculations on the malicious traffic, thereby realizing the efficient identification of malicious traffic. In addition, a bidirectional GLSTM is introduced to extract the timing features of malicious traffic. Image inpainting is an active area of research in image processing that focuses on reconstructing damaged or missing parts of an image. The advent of deep learning has greatly advanced the field of image restoration in recent years. While there are many existing methods that can produce high-quality restoration results, they often struggle when dealing with images that have large missing areas, resulting in blurry and artifact-filled outcomes. This is primarily because of the presence of invalid information in the inpainting region, which interferes with the inpainting process. To tackle this challenge, the paper proposes a novel approach called separable mask update convolution. This technique automatically learns and updates the mask, which represents the missing area, to better control the influence of invalid information within the mask area on the restoration results. Furthermore, this convolution method reduces the number of network parameters and the size of the model. The paper also introduces a regional normalization technique that collaborates with separable mask update convolution layers for improved feature extraction, thereby enhancing the quality of the restored image. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method performs well in restoring images with large missing areas and outperforms state-of-the-art image inpainting methods significantly in terms of image quality. A significant majority of the population in India makes their living through agriculture. Different illnesses that develop due to changing weather patterns and are caused by pathogenic organisms impact the yields of diverse plant species. The present article analyzed some of the existing techniques in terms of data sources, pre-processing techniques, feature extraction techniques, data augmentation techniques, models utilized for detecting and classifying diseases that affect the plant, how the quality of images was enhanced, how overfitting of the model was reduced, and accuracy. The research papers for this study were selected using various keywords from peer-reviewed publications from various databases published between 2010 and 2022. A total of 182 papers were identified and reviewed for their direct relevance to plant disease detection and classification, of which 75 papers were selected for this review after exclusion based on the title, abstract, conclusion, and full text. This paper proposed a real-time fault diagnostic method for hydraulic systems using data collected from multiple sensors. The method is based on a proposed multi-sensor convolutional neural network (MS-CNN) that incorporates feature extraction, sensor selection, and fault diagnosis into an end-to-end model. Both the sensor selection process and fault diagnosis process are based on abstract fault-related features learned by a CNN deep learning model. Therefore, compared with the traditional sensor-and-feature selection method, the proposed MS-CNN can find the sensor channels containing higher-level fault-related features, which provides two advantages for diagnosis. First, the sensor selection can reduce the redundant information and improve the diagnostic performance of the model. Secondly, the reduced number of sensors simplifies the model, reducing communication burden and computational complexity. These two advantages make the MS-CNN suitable for real-time hydraulic system fault diagnosis, in which the multi-sensor feature extraction and the computation speed are both significant. The proposed MS-CNN approach is evaluated experimentally on an electric-hydraulic subsea control system test rig and an open-source dataset. Automatic extraction of building contours from high-resolution images is of great significance in the fields of urban planning, demographics, and disaster assessment. Network models based on convolutional neural network (CNN) and transformer technology have been widely used for semantic segmentation of buildings from high resolution remote sensing images (HRSI). However, the fixed geometric structure and the local receptive field of the convolutional kernel are not good at global feature extraction, and the transformer technique with self-attention mechanism introduces computational redundancies and extracts local feature details poorly in the process of modeling the global contextual information. In this paper, a dual-branch fused reconstructive transformer network, DFRTNet, is proposed for efficient and accurate building extraction. In the encoder, the traditional transformer is reconfigured by designing the local and global feature extraction module (LGFE); the branch of global feature extraction (GFE) performs dynamic range attention (DRA) based on the idea of top-k attention for extracting global features; furthermore, the branch of local feature extraction (LFE) is used to obtain fine-grained features. The multilayer perceptron (MLP) is employed to efficiently fuse the local and global features. In the decoder, a simple channel attention module (CAM) is used in the up-sampling part to enhance channel dimension features. The complexity inherent in navigating intricate traffic environments poses substantial hurdles for intelligent driving technology. The continual progress in mapping and sensor technologies has equipped vehicles with the capability to intricately perceive their exact position and the intricate interplay among surrounding traffic elements. Building upon this foundation, this paper introduces a deep reinforcement learning method to solve the decision-making and trajectory planning problem of intelligent vehicles. The method employs a deep learning framework for feature extraction, utilizing a grid map generated from a blend of static environmental markers such as road centerlines and lane demarcations, in addition to dynamic environmental cues including vehicle positions across varied lanes, all harmonized within the Frenet coordinate system. The grid map serves as the input for the state space, and the input for the action space comprises a vector encompassing lane change timing, velocity, and vertical displacement at the lane change endpoint. To optimize the action strategy, a reinforcement learning approach is employed. The feasibility, stability, and efficiency of the proposed method are substantiated via experiments conducted in the CARLA simulator across diverse driving scenarios, and the proposed method can increase the average success rate of lane change by 6.8% and 13.1% compared with the traditional planning control algorithm and the simple reinforcement learning method. Wi-Fi-based human activity recognition has attracted significant attention. Deep learning methods are widely used to achieve feature representation and activity sensing. While more learnable parameters in the neural networks model lead to richer feature extraction, it results in significant resource consumption, rendering the model unsuitable for lightweight Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Furthermore, the sensing performance heavily relies on the quality and quantity of data, which is a time-consuming and labor-intensive task. Therefore, there is a need to explore methods that reduce the dependence on the quality and quantity of the dataset while ensuring recognition performance and decreasing model complexity to adapt to ubiquitous lightweight IoT devices. In this paper, we propose a novel Lightweight-Complex Temporal Convolution Network (L-CTCN) for human activity recognition. Specifically, this approach effectively combines complex convolution with a Temporal Convolution Network (TCN). Complex convolution can extract richer information from limited raw complex data, reducing the reliance on the quality and quantity of training samples. Based on the designed TCN framework with 1D convolution and residual blocks, the proposed model can achieve lightweight human activity recognition. Extensive experiments verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. We can achieve an average recognition accuracy of 96.6% with only 0.17 M parameter size. Variational auto-encoders (VAE) have been widely used in process modeling due to the ability of deep feature extraction and noise robustness. However, the construction of a supervised VAE model still faces huge challenges. The data generated by the existing supervised VAE models are unstable and uncontrollable due to random resampling in the latent subspace, meaning the performance of prediction is greatly weakened. In this paper, a new multi-layer conditional variational auto-encoder (M-CVAE) is constructed by injecting label information into the latent subspace to control the output data generated towards the direction of the actual value. Furthermore, the label information is also used as the input with process variables in order to strengthen the correlation between input and output. Finally, a neural network layer is embedded in the encoder of the model to achieve online quality prediction. In this paper, the performance of machine learning methods for squirrel cage induction motor broken rotor bar (BRB) fault detection is evaluated. Decision tree classification (DTC), artificial neural network (ANN), and deep learning (DL) methods are developed, applied, and studied to compare their performance in detecting broken rotor bar faults in squirrel cage induction motors. The training data were collected through experimental measurements. The BRB fault features were extracted from measured line-current signatures through a transformation from the time domain to the frequency domain using discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) of the frequency spectrum of the current signal. Eighty percent of the data were used for training the models, and twenty percent were used for testing. A confusion matrix was used to validate the models' performance using accuracy, precision, recall, and f1-scores. The results evidence that the DTC is less load-dependent, and it has better accuracy and precision for both unloaded and loaded squirrel cage induction motors when compared with the DL and ANN methods. The DTC method achieved higher accuracy in the detection of the magnitudes of the twice-frequency sideband components induced in stator currents by BRB faults when compared with the DL and ANN methods. Although the detection accuracy and precision are higher for the loaded motor than the unloaded motor, the DTC method managed to also exhibit a high accuracy for the unloaded current when compared with the DL and ANN methods. The DTC is, therefore, a suitable candidate to detect broken rotor bar faults on trained data for lightly or thoroughly loaded squirrel cage induction motors using the characteristics of the measured line-current signature. This paper proposes a multimodal fusion 3D target detection algorithm based on the attention mechanism to improve the performance of 3D target detection. The algorithm utilizes point cloud data and information from the camera. For image feature extraction, the ResNet50 + FPN architecture extracts features at four levels. Point cloud feature extraction employs the voxel method and FCN to extract point and voxel features. The fusion of image and point cloud features is achieved through regional point fusion and voxel fusion methods. After information fusion, the Coordinate and SimAM attention mechanisms extract fusion features at a deep level. The algorithm's performance is evaluated using the DAIR-V2X dataset. The results show that compared to the Part-A2 algorithm; the proposed algorithm improves the mAP value by 7.9% in the BEV view and 7.8% in the 3D view at IOU = 0.5 (cars) and IOU = 0.25 (pedestrians and cyclists). Text summarization is an information compression technology to extract important information from long text, which has become a challenging research direction in the field of natural language processing. At present, the text summary model based on deep learning has shown good results, but how to more effectively model the relationship between words, more accurately extract feature information and eliminate redundant information is still a problem of concern. This paper proposes a graph neural network model GA-GNN based on gated attention, which effectively improves the accuracy and readability of text summarization. First, the words are encoded using a concatenated sentence encoder to generate a deeper vector containing local and global semantic information. Secondly, the ability to extract key information features is improved by using gated attention units to eliminate local irrelevant information. Finally, the loss function is optimized from the three aspects of contrastive learning, confidence calculation of important sentences, and graph feature extraction to improve the robustness of the model. For centuries, libraries worldwide have preserved ancient manuscripts due to their immense historical and cultural value. However, over time, both natural and human-made factors have led to the degradation of many ancient Arabic manuscripts, causing the loss of significant information, such as authorship, titles, or subjects, rendering them as unknown manuscripts. Although catalog cards attached to these manuscripts might contain some of the missing details, these cards have degraded significantly in quality over the decades within libraries. This paper presents a framework for identifying these unknown ancient Arabic manuscripts by processing the catalog cards associated with them. Given the challenges posed by the degradation of these cards, simple optical character recognition (OCR) is often insufficient. The proposed framework uses deep learning architecture to identify unknown manuscripts within a collection of ancient Arabic documents. This involves locating, extracting, and classifying the text from these catalog cards, along with implementing processes for region-of-interest identification, rotation correction, feature extraction, and classification. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, achieving an accuracy rate of 92.5%, compared to 83.5% with classical image classification and 81.5% with OCR alone. A brain–computer interface (BCI) is a computer-based system that allows for communication between the brain and the outer world, enabling users to interact with computers using neural activity. This brain signal is obtained from electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. A significant obstacle to the development of BCIs based on EEG is the classification of subject-independent motor imagery data since EEG data are very individualized. Deep learning techniques such as the convolutional neural network (CNN) have illustrated their influence on feature extraction to increase classification accuracy. In this paper, we present a multi-branch (five branches) 2D convolutional neural network that employs several hyperparameters for every branch. The proposed model achieved promising results for cross-subject classification and outperformed EEGNet, ShallowConvNet, DeepConvNet, MMCNN, and EEGNet_Fusion on three public datasets. Our proposed model, EEGNet Fusion V2, achieves 89.6% and 87.8% accuracy for the actual and imagined motor activity of the eegmmidb dataset and scores of 74.3% and 84.1% for the BCI IV-2a and IV-2b datasets, respectively. Video super-resolution aims to generate high-resolution frames from low-resolution counterparts. It can be regarded as a specialized application of image super-resolution, serving various purposes, such as video display and surveillance. This paper proposes a novel method for real-time video super-resolution. It effectively exploits spatial information by utilizing the capabilities of an image super-resolution model and leverages the temporal information inherent in videos. Specifically, the method incorporates a pre-trained image super-resolution network as its foundational framework, allowing it to leverage existing expertise for super-resolution. A fast temporal information aggregation module is presented to further aggregate temporal cues across frames. By using deformable convolution to align features of neighboring frames, this module takes advantage of inter-frame dependency. In addition, it employs a hierarchical fast spatial offset feature extraction and a channel attention-based temporal fusion. A redundancy-aware inference algorithm is developed to reduce computational redundancy by reusing intermediate features, achieving real-time inferring speed. Extensive experiments on several benchmarks demonstrate that the proposed method can reconstruct satisfactory results with strong quantitative performance and visual qualities. Crowd counting, as a basic computer vision task, plays an important role in many fields such as video surveillance, accident prediction, public security, and intelligent transportation. At present, crowd counting tasks face various challenges. Firstly, due to the diversity of crowd distribution and increasing population density, there is a phenomenon of large-scale crowd aggregation in public places, sports stadiums, and stations, resulting in very serious occlusion. Secondly, when annotating large-scale datasets, positioning errors can also easily affect training results. In addition, the size of human head targets in dense images is not consistent, making it difficult to identify both near and far targets using only one network simultaneously. The existing crowd counting methods mainly use density plot regression methods. However, this framework does not distinguish the features between distant and near targets and cannot adaptively respond to scale changes. Therefore, the detection performance in areas with sparse population distribution is not good. To solve such problems, we propose an adaptive multi-scale far and near distance network based on the convolutional neural network (CNN) framework for counting dense populations and achieving a good balance between accuracy, inference speed, and performance. However, on the feature level, in order to enable the model to distinguish the differences between near and far features, we use stacked convolution layers to deepen the depth of the network, allocate different receptive fields according to the distance between the target and the camera, and fuse the features between nearby targets to enhance the feature extraction ability of pedestrians under nearby targets. Secondly, depth information is used to distinguish distant and near targets of different scales and the original image is cut into four different patches to perform pixel-level adaptive modeling on the population. In addition, we add density normalized average precision (nAP) indicators to analyze the accuracy of our method in spatial positioning. The pursuit of higher recognition accuracy and speed with smaller model sizes has been a major research topic in the detection of surface defects in steel. In this paper, we propose an improved high-speed and high-precision Efficient Fusion Coordination network (EFC-YOLO) without increasing the model's size. Since modifications to enhance feature extraction in shallow networks tend to affect the speed of model inference, in order to simultaneously ensure the accuracy and speed of detection, we add the improved Fusion-Faster module to the backbone network of YOLOv7. Partial Convolution (PConv) serves as the basic operator of the module, which strengthens the feature-extraction ability of shallow networks while maintaining speed. Additionally, we incorporate the Shortcut Coordinate Attention (SCA) mechanism to better capture the location information dependency, considering both lightweight design and accuracy. The de-weighted Bi-directional Feature Pyramid Network (BiFPN) structure used in the neck part of the network improves the original Path Aggregation Network (PANet)-like structure by adding step branches and reducing computations, achieving better feature fusion. In the experiments conducted on the NEU-DET dataset, the final model achieved an 85.9% mAP and decreased the GFLOPs by 60%, effectively balancing the model's size with the accuracy and speed of detection. Traffic sign detection is a crucial task in computer vision, finding wide-ranging applications in intelligent transportation systems, autonomous driving, and traffic safety. However, due to the complexity and variability of traffic environments and the small size of traffic signs, detecting small traffic signs in real-world scenes remains a challenging problem. In order to improve the recognition of road traffic signs, this paper proposes a small object detection algorithm for traffic signs based on the improved YOLOv7. First, the small target detection layer in the neck region was added to augment the detection capability for small traffic sign targets. Simultaneously, the integration of self-attention and convolutional mix modules (ACmix) was applied to the newly added small target detection layer, enabling the capture of additional feature information through the convolutional and self-attention channels within ACmix. Furthermore, the feature extraction capability of the convolution modules was enhanced by replacing the regular convolution modules in the neck layer with omni-dimensional dynamic convolution (ODConv). To further enhance the accuracy of small target detection, the normalized Gaussian Wasserstein distance (NWD) metric was introduced to mitigate the sensitivity to minor positional deviations of small objects. Infrared and visible image fusion technologies are used to characterize the same scene using diverse modalities. However, most existing deep learning-based fusion methods are designed as symmetric networks, which ignore the differences between modal images and lead to source image information loss during feature extraction. In this paper, we propose a new fusion framework for the different characteristics of infrared and visible images. Specifically, we design a dual-stream asymmetric network with two different feature extraction networks to extract infrared and visible feature maps, respectively. The transformer architecture is introduced in the infrared feature extraction branch, which can force the network to focus on the local features of infrared images while still obtaining their contextual information. The visible feature extraction branch uses residual dense blocks to fully extract the rich background and texture detail information of visible images. In this way, it can provide better infrared targets and visible details for the fused image. Experimental results on multiple datasets indicate that DSA-Net outperforms state-of-the-art methods in both qualitative and quantitative evaluations. In recent times, the realm of remote sensing has witnessed a remarkable surge in the area of deep learning, specifically in the domain of target recognition within synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. This paper presents bearing fault diagnosis using the image classification of different fault patterns. Feature extraction for image classification is carried out using a novel approach of Color recurrence plots, which is presented for the first time. Color recurrence plots are created using non-linear embedding of the vibration signals into delay coordinate space with variable time lags. Deep learning-based image classification is then performed by building the database of the extracted features of the bearing vibration signals in the form of Color recurrence plots. A Series of computational experiments are performed to compare the accuracy of bearing fault classification using Color recurrence plots. Chip pad inspection is of great practical importance for chip alignment inspection and correction. It is one of the key technologies for automated chip inspection in semiconductor manufacturing. When applying deep learning methods for chip pad inspection, the main problem to be solved is how to ensure the accuracy of small target pad detection and, at the same time, achieve a lightweight inspection model. The attention mechanism is widely used to improve the accuracy of small target detection by finding the attention region of the network. However, conventional attention mechanisms capture feature information locally, which makes it difficult to effectively improve the detection efficiency of small targets from complex backgrounds in target detection tasks. In this paper, an OCAM (Object Convolution Attention Module) attention module is proposed to build long-range dependencies between channel features and position features by constructing feature contextual relationships to enhance the correlation between features. By adding the OCAM attention module to the feature extraction layer of the YOLOv5 network, the detection performance of chip pads is effectively improved. In addition, a design guideline for the attention layer is proposed in the paper. The attention layer is adjusted by network scaling to avoid network characterization bottlenecks, balance network parameters, and network detection performance, and reduce the hardware device requirements for the improved YOLOv5 network in practical scenarios. The automatic parking system based on vision is greatly affected by uneven lighting, which is difficult to make an accurate judgment on parking spaces in the case of complex image information. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a parking space visual detection and image processing method based on deep learning. Firstly, a 360-degree panoramic system was designed to photograph the vehicle environment. The image has been processed to obtain a panoramic aerial view, which was input as the original image of the parking space detection system. Secondly, the Faster R-CNN (Region-Convolutional Neural Network) parking detection model was established based on deep learning. It was aimed to detect and extract the parking space from the input image. Thirdly, the problems of uneven illumination and complex background were solved effectively by removing the background light from the image. Finally, a parking space extraction method based on the connected region has been designed, which further simplified the parking space extraction and image processing. The experiment results show that the mAP (mean Average Precision) value of the Faster R-CNN model using 101-Floor ResNet as the feature extraction network is 89.30%, which is 2.28% higher than that of the Faster R-CNN model using 50-Floor ResNet as the feature extraction network. The model built in this paper can detect most parking spaces well. The position of the output target box is accurate. In some test scenarios, the confidence of parking space recognition can even reach 100%. Scene text detection refers to locating text regions in a scene image and marking them out with text boxes. With the rapid development of the mobile Internet and the increasing popularity of mobile terminal devices such as smartphones, the research on scene text detection technology has been highly valued and widely applied. In recent years, with the rise of deep learning represented by convolutional neural networks, research on scene text detection has made new developments. However, scene text detection is still a very challenging task due to the following two factors. Firstly, images in natural scenes often have complex backgrounds, which can easily interfere with the detection process. Secondly, the text in natural scenes is very diverse, with horizontal, skewed, straight, and curved text, all of which may be present in the same scene. As convolutional neural networks extract features, the convolutional layer with limited perceptual field cannot model the global semantic information well. Therefore, this paper further proposes a scene text detection algorithm based on dual-branch feature extraction. This paper enlarges the receptive field by means of a residual correction branch (RCB), to obtain contextual information with a larger receptive field. At the same time, in order to improve the efficiency of using the features, a two-branch attentional feature fusion (TB-AFF) module is proposed based on FPN, to combine global and local attention to pinpoint text regions, enhance the sensitivity of the network to text regions, and accurately detect the text location in natural scenes. Image recognition has long been one of the research hotspots in computer vision tasks. The development of deep learning is rapid in recent years, and convolutional neural networks usually need to be designed with fixed resources. If sufficient resources are available, the model can be scaled up to achieve higher accuracy, for example, VggNet, ResNet, GoogLeNet, etc. Although the accuracy of large-scale models has been improved, the following problems will occur with the expansion of model scale: (1) There may be over-fitting; (2) increasing model parameters; (3) slow model convergence. This paper proposes a design method for a modular convolutional neural network model which solves the problem of over-fitting and large model parameters by connecting multiple modules in parallel. Moreover, each module contains several submodules (three submodules in this paper) and fuses the features extracted from the submodules. The model convergence can be accelerated by using the fused features (the fused features contain more image information). In this study, we add a gate unit based on the attention mechanism to the model, which aims to optimize the structure of the model (select the optimal number of modules), allowing the model to select an optimum network structure by learning and dynamically reducing FLOPs (floating-point operations per second) of the model. Compared to VggNet, ResNet, and GoogLeNet, the structure of the model proposed in this paper is simple and the parameters are small. Ship fires are one of the main factors that endanger the safety of ships; because the ship is far away from land, the fire can be difficult to extinguish and could often cause huge losses. The engine room has many pieces of equipment and is the principal place of fire; however, due to its complex internal environment, it can bring many difficulties to the task of fire detection. The traditional detection methods have their own limitations, but fire detection using deep learning technology has the characteristics of high detection speed and accuracy. In this paper, we improve the YOLOv7-tiny model to enhance its detection performance. Firstly, partial convolution (PConv) and coordinate attention (CA) mechanisms are introduced into the model to improve its detection speed and feature extraction ability. Then, SIoU is used as a loss function to accelerate the model's convergence and improve accuracy. Finally, the experimental results on the dataset of the ship engine room fire made by us shows that the mAP@0.5 of the improved model is increased by 2.6%, and the speed is increased by 10 fps, which can meet the needs of engine room fire detection. With the rapid development of the autonomous driving industry, there is increasing research on related perception tasks. However, research on road surface traffic sign detection tasks is still limited. There are two main challenges to this task. First, when the target object's pixel ratio is small, the detection accuracy often decreases. Second, the existing publicly available road surface traffic sign datasets have limited image data. To address these issues, this paper proposes a new instance segmentation network, RTS R-CNN, for road surface traffic sign detection tasks based on Mask R-CNN. The network can accurately perceive road surface traffic signs and provide important information for the autonomous driving decision-making system. Specifically, CSPDarkNet53_ECA is proposed in the feature extraction stage to enhance the performance of deep convolutional networks by increasing inter-channel interactions. Second, to improve the network's detection accuracy for small target objects, GR-PAFPN is proposed in the feature fusion part, which uses a residual feature enhancement module (RFA) and atrous spatial pyramid pooling (ASPP) to optimize PAFPN and introduces a balanced feature pyramid module (BFP) to handle the imbalanced feature information at different resolutions. Finally, data augmentation is used to generate more data and prevent overfitting in specific scenarios. Recently, attention has been paid to the convolutional neural network (CNN) based synthetic aperture radar (SAR) target recognition method. Because of its advantages of automatic feature extraction and the preservation of translation invariance, the recognition accuracies are stronger than traditional methods. However, similar to other deep learning models, CNN is a "black-box" model, whose working process is vague. It is difficult to locate the decision reasons. Because of this, we focus on the process analysis of a pre-trained CNN model. The role of the processing to feature extraction and final recognition decision is discussed. The discussed components of CNN models are convolution, activation function, and full connection. Here, the convolution processing can be deemed as image filtering. In the experiment, four classical CNN models, i.e., AlexNet, VGG16, GoogLeNet, and ResNet-50, are trained by public MSTAR data, which can realize ten-category SAR target recognition. These pre-trained CNN models are processing objects of the proposed process analysis method. After the analysis, the content of the SAR image target features concerned by these pre-trained CNN models is further clarified. In summary, we provide a paradigm to process the analysis of pre-trained CNN models used for SAR target recognition in this paper. With the wide application of visual sensors and development of digital image processing technology, image copy-move forgery detection (CMFD) has become more and more prevalent. Copy-move forgery is copying one or several areas of an image and pasting them into another part of the same image, and CMFD is an efficient means to expose this. There are improper uses of forged images in industry, the military, and daily life. In this paper, we present an efficient end-to-end deep learning approach for CMFD, using a span-partial structure and attention mechanism (SPA-Net). The SPA-Net extracts feature roughly using a pre-processing module and finely extracts deep feature maps using the span-partial structure and attention mechanism as a SPA-net feature extractor module. The span-partial structure is designed to reduce the redundant feature information, while the attention mechanism in the span-partial structure has the advantage of focusing on the tamper region and suppressing the original semantic information. To explore the correlation between high-dimension feature points, a deep feature matching module assists SPA-Net to locate the copy-move areas by computing the similarity of the feature map. A feature upsampling module is employed to upsample the features to their original size and produce a copy-move mask. Furthermore, the training strategy of SPA-Net without pretrained weights has a balance between copy-move and semantic features, and then the module can capture more features of copy-move forgery areas and reduce the confusion from semantic objects. In the experiment, we do not use pretrained weights or models from existing networks such as VGG16, which would bring the limitation of the network paying more attention to objects other than copy-move areas.To deal with this problem, we generated a SPANet-CMFD dataset by applying various processes to the benchmark images from SUN and COCO datasets, and we used existing copy-move forgery datasets, CMH, MICC-F220, MICC-F600, GRIP, Coverage, and parts of USCISI-CMFD, together with our generated SPANet-CMFD dataset, as the training set to train our model. In addition, the SPANet-CMFD dataset could play a big part in forgery detection, such as deepfakes. We employed the CASIA and CoMoFoD datasets as testing datasets to verify the performance of our proposed method. The Precision, Recall, and F1 are calculated to evaluate the CMFD results. The casting process involves pouring molten metal into a mold cavity. Currently, traditional object detection algorithms exhibit a low accuracy and are rarely used. An object detection model based on deep learning requires a large amount of memory and poses challenges in the deployment and resource allocation for resource limited pouring robots. To address the accurate identification and localization of pouring holes with limited resources, this paper designs a lightweight pouring robot hole detection algorithm named LPO-YOLOv5s, based on YOLOv5s. First, the MobileNetv3 network is introduced as a feature extraction network, to reduce model complexity and the number of parameters. Second, a depthwise separable information fusion module (DSIFM) is designed, and a lightweight operator called CARAFE is employed for feature upsampling, to enhance the feature extraction capability of the network. Finally, a dynamic head (DyHead) is adopted during the network prediction stage, to improve the detection performance. Extensive experiments were conducted on a pouring hole dataset, to evaluate the proposed method. Compared to YOLOv5s, our LPO-YOLOv5s algorithm reduces the parameter size by 45% and decreases computational costs by 55%, while sacrificing only 0.1% of mean average precision (mAP). During the rice quality testing process, the precise segmentation and extraction of grain pixels is a key technique for accurately determining the quality of each seed. Due to the similar physical characteristics, small particles and dense distributions of rice seeds, properly analysing rice is a difficult problem in the field of target segmentation. In this paper, a network called SY-net, which consists of a feature extractor module, a feature pyramid fusion module, a prediction head module and a prototype mask generation module, is proposed for rice seed instance segmentation. In the feature extraction module, a transformer backbone is used to improve the ability of the network to learn rice seed features; in the pyramid fusion module and the prediction head module, a six-layer feature fusion network and a parallel prediction head structure are employed to enhance the utilization of feature information; and in the prototype mask generation module, a large feature map is used to generate high-quality masks. Training and testing were performed on two public datasets and one private rice seed dataset. The results showed that SY-net achieved a mean average precision (mAP) of 90.71% for the private rice seed dataset and an average precision (AP) of 16.5% with small targets in COCO2017. Point cloud registration plays a crucial role in 3D mapping and localization. Urban scene point clouds pose significant challenges for registration due to their large data volume, similar scenarios, and dynamic objects. Estimating the location by instances (bulidings, traffic lights, etc.) in urban scenes is a more humanized matter. In this paper, we propose PCRMLP (point cloud registration MLP), a novel model for urban scene point cloud registration that achieves comparable registration performance to prior learning-based methods. Compared to previous works that focused on extracting features and estimating correspondence, PCRMLP estimates transformation implicitly from concrete instances. The key innovation lies in the instance-level urban scene representation method, which leverages semantic segmentation and density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise (DBSCAN) to generate instance descriptors, enabling robust feature extraction, dynamic object filtering, and logical transformation estimation. Then, a lightweight network consisting of Multilayer Perceptrons (MLPs) is employed to obtain transformation in an encoder–decoder manner. Experimental validation on the KITTI dataset demonstrates that PCRMLP achieves satisfactory coarse transformation estimates from instance descriptors within a remarkable time of 0.0028 s. With the incorporation of an ICP refinement module, our proposed method outperforms prior learning-based approaches, yielding a rotation error of 2.01° and a translation error of 1.58 m. The experimental results highlight PCRMLP's potential for coarse registration of urban scene point clouds, thereby paving the way for its application in instance-level semantic mapping and localization. The milling machine serves an important role in manufacturing because of its versatility in machining. The cutting tool is a critical component of machining because it is responsible for machining accuracy and surface finishing, impacting industrial productivity. Monitoring the cutting tool's life is essential to avoid machining downtime caused due to tool wear. To prevent the unplanned downtime of the machine and to utilize the maximum life of the cutting tool, the accurate prediction of the remaining useful life (RUL) cutting tool is essential. Different artificial intelligence (AI) techniques estimate the RUL of cutting tools in milling operations with improved prediction accuracy. The IEEE NUAA Ideahouse dataset has been used in this paper for the RUL estimation of the milling cutter. The accuracy of the prediction is based on the quality of feature engineering performed on the unprocessed data. Feature extraction is a crucial phase in RUL prediction. In this work, the authors considers the time–frequency domain (TFD) features such as short-time Fourier-transform (STFT) and different wavelet transforms (WT) along with deep learning (DL) models such as long short-term memory (LSTM), different variants of LSTN, convolutional neural network (CNN), and hybrid models that are a combination of CCN with LSTM variants for RUL estimation. Rolling bearing fault diagnosis is of great significance to the safe and reliable operation of manufacturing equipment. In the actual complex environment, the collected bearing signals usually contain a large amount of noises from the resonances of the environment and other components, resulting in the nonlinear characteristics of the collected data. Existing deep-learning-based solutions for bearing fault diagnosis perform poorly in classification performance under noises. To address the above problems, this paper proposes an improved dilated-convolutional-neural network-based bearing fault diagnosis method in noisy environments named MAB-DrNet. First, a basic model called the dilated residual network (DrNet) was designed based on the residual block to enlarge the model's perceptual field to better capture the features from bearing fault signals. Then, a max-average block (MAB) module was designed to improve the feature extraction capability of the model. In addition, the global residual block (GRB) module was introduced into MAB-DrNet to further improve the performance of the proposed model, enabling the model to better handle the global information of the input data and improve the classification accuracy of the model in noisy environments. Finally, the proposed method was tested on the CWRU dataset, and the results showed that the proposed method had good noise immunity; the accuracy was 95.57% when adding Gaussian white noises with a signal-to-noise ratio of −6 dB.
