The frequent occurrence of extreme climate events has a significant impact on people's lives. Heavy rainfall can lead to an increase of regional Terrestrial Water Storage (TWS), which will cause land subsidence due to the influence of hydrological load. At present, regional TWS is mostly obtained from Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) data, but the method has limitations for small areas. This paper used water level and flow data as hydrological signals to study the land subsidence caused by heavy rainfall in the Chaohu Lake area of East China (June 2016–August 2016). Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to study the interconnection between water resource changes and Global Navigation Satellites System (GNSS) vertical displacement. Meanwhile, to address the reliability of the research results, combined with the Coefficient of determination method, the research findings were validated by using different institutional models. The results showed that: (1) During heavy rainfall, the vertical displacement caused by atmospheric load was larger than non-tidal oceanic load, and the influence trends of the two were opposite. (2) The rapidly increasing hydrologic load in the Chaohu Lake area resulted in greater subsidence displacement at the closer CORS station (CHCH station) than the more distant CORS station (LALA station). The Pearson correlation coefficients between the vertical displacement and water level were as high as −0.80 and −0.64, respectively. The phenomenon confirmed the elastic deformation principle of disc load. (3) Although there was a systematic bias between the different environmental load deformation models, the deformation trends were generally consistent with the GNSS monitoring results. The average Coefficients of determination between the different models and the GNSS results were 0.63 and 0.77, respectively. The results demonstrated the effectiveness of GNSS in monitoring short-term hydrological load. This study reveals the spatial-temporal evolution of land deformation during heavy rainfall around Chaohu Lake, which is of reference significance for water resource management and infrastructure maintenance in this area. The solid Earth deforms elastically in response to variations of surface atmosphere, hydrology, and ice/glacier mass loads. Continuous geodetic observations by Global Positioning System (CGPS) stations and Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) record such deformations to estimate seasonal and secular mass changes. In this paper, we present the seasonal variation of the surface mass changes and the crustal vertical deformation in the South China Block (SCB) identified by GPS and GRACE observations with records spanning from 1999 to 2016. We used 33 CGPS stations to construct a time series of coordinate changes, which are decomposed by empirical orthogonal functions (EOFs) in SCB. The average weighted root-mean-square (WRMS) reduction is 38% when we subtract GRACE-modeled vertical displacements from GPS time series. The first common mode shows clear seasonal changes, indicating seasonal surface mass re-distribution in and around the South China Block. The correlation between GRACE and GPS time series is analyzed which provides a reference for further improvement of the seasonal variation of CGPS time series. The results of the GRACE observations inversion are the surface deformations caused by the surface mass change load at a rate of about -0.4 to -0.8 mm/year, which is used to improve the long-term trend of non-tectonic loads of the GPS vertical velocity field to further explain the crustal tectonic movement in the SCB and surroundings. To improve the reliability of Global Positioning System (GPS) signal extraction, the traditional variational mode decomposition (VMD) method cannot determine the number of intrinsic modal functions or the value of the penalty factor in the process of noise reduction, which leads to inadequate or over-decomposition in time series analysis and will cause problems. Therefore, in this paper, a new approach using improved variational mode decomposition and wavelet packet transform (IVMD-WPT) was proposed, which takes the energy entropy mutual information as the objective function and uses the grasshopper optimisation algorithm to optimise the objective function to adaptively determine the number of modal decompositions and the value of the penalty factor to verify the validity of the IVMD-WPT algorithm. We performed a test experiment with two groups of simulation time series and three indicators: root mean square error (RMSE), correlation coefficient (CC) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). These indicators were used to evaluate the noise reduction effect. The simulation results showed that IVMD-WPT was better than the traditional empirical mode decomposition and improved variational mode decomposition (IVMD) methods and that the RMSE decreased by 0.084 and 0.0715 mm; CC and SNR increased by 0.0005 and 0.0004 dB, and 862.28 and 6.17 dB, respectively. The simulation experiments verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. Finally, we performed an analysis with 100 real GPS height time series from the Crustal Movement Observation Network of China (CMONOC). The results showed that the RMSE decreased by 11.4648 and 6.7322 mm, and CC and SNR increased by 0.1458 and 0.0588 dB, and 32.6773 and 26.3918 dB, respectively. In summary, the IVMD-WPT algorithm can adaptively determine the number of decomposition modal functions of VMD and the optimal combination of penalty factors; it helps to further extract effective information for noise and can perfectly retain useful information in the original time series. In recent years, the GPS wave buoy has been developed for in situ wave monitoring based on satellite GPS signals. Many research works have been completed on the GPS-based wave measurement technology and great progress has been achieved. The basic principle of the GPS wave buoy is to calculate the movement velocity of the buoy using the Doppler frequency shift of satellite GPS signals, and then to calculate the wave parameters from the movement velocity according to ocean wave theory. The shortage of the GPS wave buoy is the occasional occurrence of some unusual values in the movement velocity. This is mainly due to the fact that the GPS antenna is occasionally covered by sea water and cannot normally receive high-quality satellite GPS signals. The traditional solution is to remove these unusual movement velocity values from the records, which requires furthering extend the acquisition time of satellite GPS signals to ensure there is a large enough quantity of effective movement velocity values. Based on the traditional GPS wave measurement technology, this paper presents the algorithmic flow and proposes two improvement measures. On the one hand, the neural network algorithm is used to correct the unusual movement velocity data so that extending the acquisition time of satellite GPS signals is not necessary and battery power is saved. On the other hand, the Gaussian low-pass filter is used to correct the raw directional wave spectrum, which can further eliminate the influence of noise spectrum energy and improve the measurement accuracy. The on-site sea test of the SBF7-1A GPS wave buoy, developed by the National Ocean Technology Center in China, and the gravity-acceleration-type DWR-MKIII Waverider buoy are highlighted in this article. The wave data acquired by the two buoys are analyzed and processed. It can be seen from the processed results that the ocean wave parameters from the two kinds of wave buoys, such as wave height, wave period, wave direction, wave frequency spectrum, and directional wave spectrum, are in good consistency, indicating that the SBF7-1A GPS wave buoy is comparable to the traditional gravity-acceleration-type wave buoy in terms of its accuracy. Most of the construction machinery for vibro-sinking stone columns, which are widely used in China, needs to be improved in terms of degree of automation. Engineering quality control is mainly carried out post-inspection; consequently, it is difficult to control the construction quality in real time. According to the construction characteristics of traditional stone column machines, we established the theory and model for the real-time monitoring of stone column construction, as well as put forward an intelligent monitoring method for stone column machines. With the comprehensive application of critical technologies such as the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) measurement technology, laser ranging sensors, and massive data processing, an intelligent data acquisition technique and associated monitoring equipment for stone column construction machines are developed. The data acquisition and storage of crucial construction parameters, such as pile depth, pile point co-ordinates, bearing layer current, and reverse insertion times, are realized. A large number of actual construction data are collected and the construction quality parameters of stone column machines are obtained. By comparison with third-party detection data, it is verified that the intelligent monitoring technique for stone column machines proposed in this paper is feasible. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) containing a three-orthogonal gyroscope and three-orthogonal accelerometer has been widely utilized in position and navigation, due to gradually improved accuracy and its small size and low cost. However, the errors of a MEMS IMU based standalone Inertial Navigation System (INS) will diverge over time dramatically, since there are various and nonlinear errors contained in the MEMS IMU measurements. Therefore, MEMS INS is usually integrated with a Global Positioning System (GPS) for providing reliable navigation solutions. The GPS receiver is able to generate stable and precise position and time information in open sky environment. However, under signal challenging conditions, for instance dense forests, city canyons, or mountain valleys, if the GPS signal is weak and even is blocked, the GPS receiver will fail to output reliable positioning information, and the integration system will fade to an INS standalone system. A number of effects have been devoted to improving the accuracy of INS, and de-nosing or modelling the random errors contained in the MEMS IMU have been demonstrated to be an effective way of improving MEMS INS performance. In this paper, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) method was proposed to de-noise the MEMS IMU output signals, specifically, a popular variant of Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) RNN was employed to filter the MEMS gyroscope outputs, in which the signals were treated as time series. A MEMS IMU (MSI3200, manufactured by MT Microsystems Company, Shijiazhuang, China) was employed to test the proposed method, a 2 min raw gyroscope data with 400 Hz sampling rate was collected and employed in this testing. The results show that the standard deviation (STD) of the gyroscope data decreased by 60.3%, 37%, and 44.6% respectively compared with raw signals, and on the other way, the three-axis attitude errors decreased by 15.8%, 18.3% and 51.3% individually. Further, compared with an Auto Regressive and Moving Average (ARMA) model with fixed parameters, the STD of the three-axis gyroscope outputs decreased by 42.4%, 21.4% and 21.4%, and the attitude errors decreased by 47.6%, 42.3% and 52.0%. The results indicated that the de-noising scheme was effective for improving MEMS INS accuracy, and the proposed LSTM-RNN method was more preferable in this application. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
