Quantum error correction lies at the heart of building reliable quantum information processing systems. Stabilizer codes, a fundamental class of quantum errorcorrecting codes, play a pivotal role in mitigating the adverse effects of noise and decoherence in quantum systems. This paper introduces a novel construction of quantum stabilizer codes using Hadamard difference sets, an elegant mathematical concept derived from combinatorial design theory. In this paper, the construction of the quantum stabilizer codes over non- cyclic Hadamard difference sets with parameters (4m²,2m²-m, m²-m), where m is a positive integer is discussed. Firstly, the parity check matrices are constructed from the Circulant permutation matrices with the help of Hadamard difference sets and then, the Symplectic inner product condition for Hadamard difference sets over binary operation for parity check matrices are obtained to affirm the commutative condition for Stabilizer operators which is vital for the error detection. For application, we constructed a Hadamard difference sets with parameters (16,6,2) for m = 2 of ordered pair of the group Z2 Z8 × (non-cyclic group) and quantum stabilizer codes are obtained by parity-check matrix. Let F q be a finite field with an odd characteristic. In this paper, we present a new result about double cyclic codes over a finite non-chain ring. Specifically, we study the double cyclic code over F q + v F q + v 2 F q with v 3 = v , which is isomorphic to F q × F q × F q . This study mainly involves generator polynomials and generator matrices. The generating polynomial of the dual code is also obtained. We show the relationship between the generating polynomials of the double cyclic codes and those of their dual codes. The Euclidean hull of a linear code C is defined as C ∩ C⊥, where C⊥ denotes the dual of C under the Euclidean inner product. A linear code with the trivial hull is called a linear complementary dual (LCD) code. A pair (C, D) of linear codes of length n over the finite field Fq is called a linear complementary pair (LCP) of codes if C ⊕ D = Fnq . More generally, a pair (C, D) of linear codes of the same length over Fq is called a linear ℓ -intersection pair of codes if C ∩ D has dimension ℓ as a vector space over Fq . In this paper, we give characterizations of LCD, LCP of cyclic codes and one-dimensional hull cyclic codes of length qm− 1, m ≥ 1, over Fq in terms of their basic dual zero sets and their trace representations. We also formulate the hull dimension of a cyclic code of arbitrary length over Fq with respect to its basic dual zero set. In this paper, we propose a novel approach to enhance spectral efficiency in communication systems by dynamically adjusting the mapping between cyclic permutation coding (CPC) and its injected form. By monitoring channel conditions such as interference levels and impulsive noise strength, the system optimises the coding scheme to maximise data transmission reliability and efficiency. The CPC method employed in this work maps information bits onto non-binary symbols in a cyclic manner, aiming to improve the Hamming distance between mapped symbols. To address challenges such as low data rates inherent in permutation coding, injection techniques are introduced by removing δ column(s) from the CPC codebook. Comparative analyses demonstrate that the proposed dynamic adaptation scheme outperforms conventional permutation coding and injection schemes. Additionally, we present a generalised mathematical expression to describe the relationship between the spectral efficiencies of both coding schemes. This dynamic approach ensures efficient and reliable communication in environments with varying levels of interference and impulsive noise, highlighting its potential applicability to systems like power line communications. An $(r, \delta)$ -locally repairable code ($(r, \delta)$ -LRC for short) was introduced by Prakash et al. for tolerating multiple failed nodes in distributed storage systems, which was a generalization of the concept of $r$ -LRCs produced by Gopalan et al.. An $(r, \delta)$ -LRC is said to be optimal if it achieves the Singleton-like bound. Recently, Chen et al. generalized the construction of cyclic $r$ -LRCs proposed by Tamo et al. , and constructed several classes of optimal $(r, \delta)$ -LRCs of length $n$ for $n\, |\, (q-1)$ or $n\,|\, (q+1)$ , respectively in terms of a union of the set of zeros controlling the minimum distance and the set of zeros ensuring the locality. Following the work of , , this paper first characterizes $(r, \delta)$ -locality of a cyclic code via its zeros. Then we construct several classes of optimal cyclic $(r, \delta)$ -LRCs of length $n$ for $n\, |\, (q-1)$ or $n\,|\, (q+1)$ , respectively from the product of two sets of zeros. Our constructions include all optimal cyclic $(r,\delta)$ -LRCs proposed in , , and our method seems more convenient to obtain optimal cyclic $(r, \delta)$ -LRCs with flexible parameters. The fundamental aim of this research is to analyze the configuration of 픽4R submodules, skew cyclic codes over 픽4R and establish their connection with DNA codes, where 픽4 is a field of order 4 and R = 픽4 + u픽4 + v픽4 + w픽4 with u2 = u, v2 = v, w2 = w, uv = vu = 0, vw = wv = 0, wu = uw = 0 is a finite ring. The inverse analysis of the intercepted signals to reconstruct the communication scheme used by the transmitter is a key problem in the non‐cooperative context. In this paper, the problem of blind reconstruction of cyclic codes and self‐synchronous scramblers is considered. There is no existing solution to this problem. To solve this problem, a joint blind reconstruction method for cyclic codes and self‐synchronous scramblers is proposed in this paper. A lemma is proposed and proved theoretically that the maximum common factor of the inverse polynomial of the polynomial form of the dual vectors of the self‐synchronous scrambled bit matrix is the product of the parity polynomial of the cyclic code and the feedback polynomial of the self‐synchronous scrambler. Using this lemma, the joint blind reconstruction of the cyclic code and the self‐synchronous scrambler is completed. Finally, a Gaussian elimination based on random column exchange and soft information (GERCESI) method is proposed, which can apply the proposed method to a noisy environment. This paper is devoted to the research of the isomorphic multidimensional cyclic structure and multidimensional phase structure of the cyclic random process (CRP) and to its formation method, which enables a rigorous formalization of intuitive ideas concerning cyclic stochastic motion. The fundamental properties of the cyclic random process and analytical dependencies between the multidimensional cyclic structure, multidimensional phase structure and rhythm structure of the CRP have been established. This work shows that the CRP is able to take into account the cyclicity of multidimensional distribution functions of cyclic signals as well as the variability in the rhythm of the investigated signals. A subclass of the CRP is the periodic random process, which allows for the use of classical processing methods of cyclic signals with a regular rhythm. Based on a series of experiments, significant advantages of the CRP as a mathematical model of electrocardiographic signals (ECG) compared to the periodic random process are shown. Cryptology is a part of mathematics as encryption and decryption. The purpose of encryption is to make information incomprehensible when it is in the hands of unauthorized people. The receiver can decrypt the message that encrypted by the sender with helping of the key. The important point is that the key cannot be decrypted by other people. One Time Pad method solves this problem. The key is used only once each encryption in this method. So, the key becomes harder to guess. If the key is solved by unauthorized people, the message cannot be solved. Because of with each decryption, many meaningful messages are obtained. Every cyclic shift in a cyclic code constructs a new key and in each encryption is used the new key. Many keys are generated thanks to cyclic codes. Entanglement-assisted quantum-error-correcting (EAQEC) codes are quantum codes which use entanglement as a resource. These codes can provide better error correction than the (entanglement unassisted) codes derived from the traditional stabilizer formalism. In this paper, we provide a general method to construct EAQEC codes from cyclic codes. Afterwards, the method is applied to Reed–Solomon codes, BCH codes, and general cyclic codes. We use the Euclidean and Hermitian construction of EAQEC codes. Three families have been created: two families of EAQEC codes are maximal distance separable (MDS), and one is almost MDS or almost near MDS. Linear codes achieving or nearly achieving the Singleton bound are interesting in both theory and practice. The objective of this paper is to construct several infinite families of MDS, near MDS and almost MDS codes from some special cyclic subgroups of ${\mathbb {F}}_{q^{2}}^{*}$. To this end, the augmentation and extension techniques are used. The codes in this paper have flexible parameters and their lengths could be large. The minimum linear locality of the codes constructed in this paper is also studied. Some infinite families of optimal linearly locally recoverable codes are obtained. We consider G to be a finite group and p as a prime number. We fix ψ to be an irreducible character of G with its restriction to all p-regular elements of G and ψ 0 to be an irreducible Brauer character. The main aim of this paper is to describe and investigate the relationship between cyclic anchor group of ψ and the defect group of a p-block which contains ψ. Our methods are to study and generalize some facts for the cyclic defect groups of a p-block B to the case of a cyclic anchor group of irreducible characters which belong to B. • A digital twin-driven (DTD) framework and model are developed for predicting degraded lifting capacity (LC) of aging tower cranes. • A DTD model predicted the degraded LC of a scaled-down prototype, achieving a mean-square error (MSE) of 0.2253 and a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.9973. • A DTD model is validated using k-5 cross-validation with a prediction accuracy of 0.97 (R2). • Degraded load charts assist operators in placing safe loads and preventing unexpected failures. Aging tower cranes face an elevated risk of failure, primarily due to structural fatigue and deterioration. Surprisingly, the degradation of aging-induced lifting capacity (LC) remains an unexplored domain. In response to this research gap, this paper introduces a digital twin-driven (DTD) framework and model to predict the degraded LC of aging tower cranes. This framework combines theoretical and numerical analysis of fatigue and degradation behavior in tower cranes with real-time vibration data obtained during cyclic load scenarios on the actual cranes. Machine learning (ML) techniques are employed to develop a model that accurately predicts the degraded LC caused by aging. A scaled-down tower crane prototype is adopted as a demonstrative case to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the DTD framework. The DTD model predicts the degraded LC of the prototype with high accuracy, achieving a mean-square error (MSE) of 0.2253 and a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.9973. The predicted degraded load charts of the tested tower crane for each decade of usage from 0 to 70 years are also presented to assist crane operators in applying safe loads, preventing unexpected failures and damages, and enhancing workplace monitoring and safety. This study helps monitor the safety conditions of tower cranes that are aging and susceptible to structural fatigue and deterioration, facilitates the prediction of the deterioration of complex machines and systems in the construction industry with real-time data, and highlights the potential of DTD approaches in improving efficiency, safety, and decision-making. The Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem (BCH) codes are a well-studied subclass of cyclic codes that have found numerous applications in error correction and notably in quantum information processing. They are widely used in data storage and communication systems. A subclass of attractive BCH codes is the narrow-sense BCH codes over the Galois field ${\mathrm {GF}}(q)$ with length $q+1$ , which are closely related to the action of the projective general linear group of degree two on the projective line. Despite its interest, not much is known about this class of BCH codes. This paper aims to study some of the codes within this class and specifically narrow-sense antiprimitive BCH codes (these codes are also linear complementary duals (LCD) codes that have interesting practical recent applications in cryptography, among other benefits). We shall use tools and combine arguments from algebraic coding theory, combinatorial designs, and group theory (group actions, representation theory of finite groups, etc.) to investigate narrow-sense antiprimitive BCH Codes and extend results from the recent literature. Notably, the dimension, the minimum distance of some $q$ -ary BCH codes with length $q+1$ , and their duals are determined in this paper. The dual codes of the narrow-sense antiprimitive BCH codes derived in this paper include almost MDS codes. Furthermore, the classification of ${\mathrm {PGL}}(2, p^{m})$ -invariant codes over ${\mathrm {GF}}(p^{h})$ is completed. As an application of this result, the $p$ -ranks of all incidence structures invariant under the projective general linear group ${\mathrm {PGL}}(2, p^{m})$ are determined. Furthermore, infinite families of narrow-sense BCH codes admitting a 3-transitive automorphism group are obtained. Via these BCH codes, a coding-theory approach to constructing the Witt spherical geometry designs is presented. It is well-known that cyclic codes have efficient encoding and decoding algorithms. In recent years, antiprimitive BCH codes have attracted a lot of attention. The objective of this paper is to study BCH codes of this type over finite fields and analyse their parameters. Some lower bounds on the minimum distance of antiprimitive BCH codes are given. The BCH codes presented in this paper have good parameters in general, containing many optimal linear codes. In the modern world, the security of the digital image is vital due to the frequent communication of digital products over the open network. Accelerated advancement of digital data exchange, the importance of information security in the transmission of data, and its storage has emerged. Multiple uses of the images in the security agencies and the industries and the security of the confidential image data from unauthorized access are emergent and vital. In this paper, Bose Chaudhary Hocquenghem (BCH) codes over the Galois field are used for image encryption. The BCH codes over the Galois field construct MDS (maximum distance separable) matrices and secret keys for image encryption techniques. The encrypted image is calculated, by contrast, correlation, energy, homogeneity, and entropy. Histogram analysis of the encrypted image is also assured in this paper. The proposed image encryption scheme's security analysis results are improved compared to the original AES algorithm. This paper considers three kinds of quasi-cyclic codes of index two with one generator or two generators and their applications in quantum code construction. In accordance with the algebraic structure of linear codes, we determine the lower bounds of the symplectic weights of these quasi-cyclic codes. Quasi-cyclic codes with the dual-containing property enable the construction of quantum codes. Defining the coefficient symmetric polynomials of the generator polynomials gives a concise condition for the dual-containing of the quasi-cyclic codes. The lower bound results can significantly reduce the scope of the search for a larger minimum distance of quasi-cyclic codes. With these algebraic results and computer supports, we obtain classical quasi-cyclic codes with better parameters and some new quantum codes under the symplectic construction. The puncturing and shortening techniques are two important approaches to constructing new linear codes from old ones. In the past 70 years, a lot of progress on the puncturing technique has been made, and many works on punctured linear codes have been done. Many families of linear codes with interesting parameters have been obtained with the puncturing technique. However, little research on the shortening technique has been done and there are only a handful references on shortened linear codes. The first objective of this paper is to prove some general theory for shortened linear codes. The second objective is to study some shortened codes of the Hamming codes, Simplex codes, some Reed-Muller codes, and ovoid codes. Eleven families of optimal shortened codes over finite fields are presented in this paper. The binary quadratic-residue codes and the punctured Reed-Muller codes ${\mathcal {R}}_{2}((m-1)/2, m))$ are two families of binary cyclic codes with parameters $[n, (n+1)/2, d \geq \sqrt {n}]$. These two families of binary cyclic codes are interesting partly due to the fact that their minimum distances have a square-root bound. The objective of this paper is to construct two families of binary cyclic codes of length $2^{m}-1$ and dimension near $2^{m-1}$ with good minimum distances. When $m \geq 3$ is odd, the codes become a family of duadic codes with parameters $[2^{m}-1, 2^{m-1}, d]$ , where $d \geq 2^{(m-1)/2}+1$ if $m \equiv 3 \pmod {4}$ and $d \geq 2^{(m-1)/2}+3$ if $m \equiv 1 \pmod {4}$. Symbol-pair codes were introduced by Cassuto and Blaum in 2010 to protect pair errors in symbol-pair read channels. Recently Yaakobi, Bruck and Siegel (2016) generalized this notion to b-symbol codes in order to consider consecutive b errors for a prescribed integer b ≥ 2, and they gave constructions and decoding algorithms. Cyclic codes were considered by various authors as candidates for symbol-pair codes and they established minimum distance bounds on (certain) cyclic codes. In this paper we use algebraic curves over finite fields in order to obtain tight lower and upper bounds on b-symbol Hamming weights of arbitrary cyclic codes over Fq. Here b ≥ 2 is an arbitrary prescribed positive integer and Fq is an arbitrary finite field. We also present a stability theorem for an arbitrary cyclic code C of dimension k and length n: the b-symbol Hamming weight enumerator of C is the same as the k-symbol Hamming weight enumerator of C if k ≤ b ≤ n−1. Modern video object segmentation (VOS) algorithms have achieved remarkably high performance in a sequential processing order, while most of currently prevailing pipelines still show some obvious inadequacy like accumulative error, unknown robustness or lack of proper interpretation tools. In this paper, we place the semi-supervised video object segmentation problem into a cyclic workflow and find the defects above can be collectively addressed via the inherent cyclic property of semi-supervised VOS systems. Firstly, a cyclic mechanism incorporated to the standard sequential flow can produce more consistent representations for pixel-wise correspondance. Relying on the accurate reference mask in the starting frame, we show that the error propagation problem can be mitigated. Next, a simple gradient correction module, which naturally extends the offline cyclic pipeline to an online manner, can highlight the high-frequent and detailed part of results to further improve the segmentation quality while keeping feasible computation cost. Meanwhile such correction can protect the network from severe performance degration resulted from interference signals. Finally we develop cycle effective receptive field (cycle-ERF) based on gradient correction process to provide a new perspective into analyzing object-specific regions of interests. We conduct comprehensive comparison and detailed analysis on challenging benchmarks of DAVIS16, DAVIS17 and Youtube-VOS, demonstrating that the cyclic mechanism is helpful to enhance segmentation quality, improve the robustness of VOS systems, and further provide qualitative comparison and interpretation on how different VOS algorithms work. Maximum distance separable (MDS) codes are very important in both theory and practice. There is a classical construction of a family of $[{2^{m}+1, 2u-1, 2^{m}-2u+3}]$ MDS codes for $1 \leq u \leq 2^{m-1}$ , which are cyclic, reversible and BCH codes over ${\mathrm {GF}}(2^{m})$. The objective of this paper is to study the quaternary subfield subcodes and quaternary subfield codes of a subfamily of the MDS codes for even $m$. A family of quaternary cyclic codes is obtained. These quaternary codes are distance-optimal in some cases and very good in general. Furthermore, two infinite families of 3-designs from these quaternary codes and their duals are presented. In this paper we introduce Ouroboros, a new family of Key Exchange protocols based on coding theory. The protocols propose a middle ground between the cryptosystems based on $\mathsf {QC}$ - $\mathsf {MDPC}$ codes, which feature small parameter sizes, but have a security reduction to two problems: the syndrome decoding problem and the indistinguishability of the code, and the HQC protocol, which features bigger parameters but has a security reduction to the syndrome decoding problem only. Ouroboros features a reduction to the syndrome decoding problem with only a small overhead compared to the $\mathsf {QC}$ - $\mathsf {MDPC}$ based cryptosystems. The approach is based on an ideal structure and also works for the rank metric. This yields a simple, secure and efficient approach for key exchange, the Ouroboros family of protocols. For the Hamming metric we obtain the same type of parameters (and almost the same simple decoding) as for $\mathsf {MDPC}$ based cryptosystems, but with a security reduction to decoding random quasi-cyclic codes in the Random Oracle Model. This represents a reduction of up to 38% on the public key size compared to HQC, for the most secure parameters. For the rank metric, we obtain better parameters than for RQC, saving up to 31% on the public key for the most secure set of parameters, using non homogeneous errors in Ouroboros. In this paper we prove several coordinate-ordering-free upper bounds on the insdel distances of linear codes. Our bounds are stronger than some previous known bounds. We apply these upper bounds to AGFC codes from some cyclic codes and one algebraic-geometric code with any rearrangement of coordinate positions. Although long polar codes with successive cancellation decoding can asymptotically achieve channel capacity, the performance of short blocklength polar codes is far from optimal. Recently, Arıkan proposed employing a convolutional pre-transformation before the polarization network, called polarization-adjusted convolutional (PAC) codes. In this paper, we focus on improving the performance of short PAC codes concatenated with a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) outer code, CRC-PAC codes, since error detection capability is essential in practical applications, such as the polar coding scheme for the control channel. We propose an enhanced adaptive belief propagation (ABP) decoding algorithm with the assistance of CRC bits for PAC codes. We also derive joint parity-check matrices of CRC-PAC codes suitable for iterative BP decoding. The proposed CRC-aided ABP (CA-ABP) decoding can effectively improve error performance when partial CRC bits are used in the decoding. Meanwhile, the error detection ability can still be guaranteed by the remaining CRC bits and adaptive decoding parameters. Moreover, compared with the conventional CRC-aided list (CA-List) decoding, our proposed scheme can significantly reduce computational complexity, to achieve a better trade-off between the performance and complexity for short PAC codes. The Fletcher checksum (FC) is a means of error detection that is analogous to cyclic redundancy checking but easier to implement in software. Now FC actually has two versions, one is Fletcher’s original paper version termed as FC and the other is RFC1146 version termed as FC-RFC. This paper shows that the FC is a cyclic code. This is done by introducing a cyclic code known as the cyclic Fletcher code (CFC) and then showing that the CFC is equivalent to the FC. The clear algebraic structure of cyclic codes is used to analyze the code block length and code distance, and then the single error correction, double error detection, and burst error detection of the CFC are analyzed. Also given is the mathematical relationship between the CFC and a modified FC. Finally, the issue of implementation is considered, and a new scheduling for the CFC is proposed to prevent data hazards. In this paper, a family of $[{q}^{2}-1, 4, {q}^{2}-{q}-2]$ cyclic codes over ${\mathbb F}_{{q}}$ meeting the Griesmer bound is presented. Their duals are $[{q}^{2}-1,{q}^{2}-5,4]$ almost MDS codes and are optimal with respect to the sphere-packing bound. The ${q}_{0}$ -ary subfield codes of this family of cyclic codes are also investigated, where ${q}_{0}$ is any prime power such that q is power of ${q}_{0}$. Some of the subfield codes are optimal and some have the best known parameters. It is shown that the subfield codes are equivalent to a family of primitive BCH codes and thus the parameters of the BCH codes are solved. The duals of the subfield codes are also optimal with respect to the sphere-packing bound. A family of $[{q}^{2}, 4, {q}^{2}-{q}-1]$ linear codes over ${\mathbb F}_{{q}}$ meeting the Griesmer bound is presented. Their duals are $[{q}^{2},{q}^{2}-4,4]$ almost MDS codes and are optimal with respect to the sphere-packing bound. Weinberger [16] in 1972, proved that the ring of integers of a number field with unit rank at least 1 is a principal ideal domain if and only if it is a Euclidean domain, provided the generalised Riemann hypothesis holds. Lenstra [13], extended the notion of Euclidean domains in order to capture Dedekind domains with finite cyclic class group and proved an analogous theorem in this setup. More precisely, he showed that the class group of the ring of integers of a number field with unit rank at least 1 is cyclic if and only if it has a Euclidean ideal class, provided the generalised Riemann hypothesis holds. Given a ${q}$ -ary frequency hopping sequence set of length ${n}$ and size ${M}$ with Hamming correlation ${H}$ , one can obtain a ${q}$ -ary (nonlinear) cyclic code of length ${n}$ and size nM with Hamming distance n-H. Thus, every upper bound on the size of a code from coding theory gives an upper bound on the size of a frequency hopping sequence set. Indeed, all upper bounds from coding theory have been converted to upper bounds on frequency hopping sequence sets. On the other hand, a lower bound from coding theory does not automatically produce a lower bound for frequency hopping sequence sets. In particular, the most important lower bound, the Gilbert-Varshamov bound in coding theory, has not been transformed to a valid lower bound on frequency hopping sequence sets. The purpose of this paper is to transform the Gilbert-Varshamov bound from coding theory to frequency hopping sequence sets by establishing a connection between a special family of cyclic codes (which are called hopping cyclic codes in this paper) and frequency hopping sequence sets. We provide two proofs of the Gilbert-Varshamov bound. One is based on a probabilistic method that requires advanced tool–martingale. This proof covers the whole rate region. Motivated by the recent studies on $\mathbb {Z}_{2}\mathbb {Z}_{4}$ -additive cyclic codes, $\mathbb {Z}_{2}\mathbb {Z}_{2}[u]$ -cyclic codes and $\mathbb {Z}_{2}\mathbb {Z}_{2^{s}}$ -additive codes have been introduced by Aydogdu et al.. In this paper, we study $\mathbb {Z}_{q}R$ -linear cyclic codes where $R=\mathbb {Z}_{q}+u\mathbb {Z}_{q}, q$ is a prime number and $u^{2}=0$. There are two major ingredients in this paper. The first is to investigate the algebraic structure of cyclic codes and their duals over ring $\mathbb {Z}_{q}R$ , the spanning sets, the types and sizes of $\mathbb {Z}_{q}R$ -cyclic codes and their duals as well. Based on this, the second ingredient is to present an infinite family of MDSS codes and obtain some illustrative examples of $q$ -ary cyclic codes with optimal parameters derived from the $\mathbb {Z}_{q}R$ -cyclic codes. Sparse polynomial interpolation, sparse linear system solving or modular rational reconstruction are fundamental problems in Computer Algebra. They come down to computing linear recurrence relations of a sequence with the Berlekamp–Massey algorithm. Likewise, sparse multivariate polynomial interpolation and multidimensional cyclic code decoding require guessing linear recurrence relations of a multivariate sequence. Several algorithms solve this problem. The so-called Berlekamp–Massey–Sakata algorithm (1988) uses polynomial additions and shifts by a monomial. The Scalar-FGLM algorithm (2015) relies on linear algebra operations on a multi-Hankel matrix, a multivariate generalization of a Hankel matrix. The Artinian Gorenstein border basis algorithm (2017) uses a Gram-Schmidt process. We propose a new algorithm for computing the Gröbner basis of the ideal of relations of a sequence based solely on multivariate polynomial arithmetic. This algorithm allows us to both revisit the Berlekamp–Massey–Sakata algorithm through the use of polynomial divisions and to completely revise the Scalar-FGLM algorithm without linear algebra operations. A key observation in the design of this algorithm is to work on the mirror of the truncated generating series allowing us to use polynomial arithmetic modulo a monomial ideal. It appears to have some similarities with Padé approximants of this mirror polynomial. As an addition from the paper published at the ISSAC conference, we give an adaptive variant of this algorithm taking into account the shape of the final Gröbner basis gradually as it is discovered. The main advantage of this algorithm is that its complexity in terms of operations and sequence queries only depends on the output Gröbner basis. Some nonlinear codes, such as Kerdock and Preparata codes, can be represented as binary images under the Gray map of linear codes over rings. This paper introduces MAP decoding of Kerdock and Preparata codes by working with their quaternary representation (linear codes over $\mathbb {Z}_{4}$) with the complexity of $\mathcal {O}(N^{2}\log _{2} N)$ , where N is the code length in $\mathbb {Z}_{4}$. A sub-optimal bitwise APP decoder with good error-correcting performance and complexity of $\mathcal {O}(N\log _{2} N)$ that is constructed using the decoder lifting technique is also introduced. This APP decoder extends upon the original lifting decoder by working with likelihoods instead of hard decisions and is not limited to Kerdock and Preparata code families. Just as rank-metric or Gabidulin codes may be used to construct rate–diversity tradeoff optimal space–time codes, a recently introduced generalization for the sum-rank metric—linearized Reed–Solomon codes—accomplishes the same in the case of multiple fading blocks. In this paper, we provide the first explicit construction of minimal delay rate–diversity optimal multiblock space–time codes as an application of linearized Reed–Solomon codes. We also provide sequential decoders for these codes and, more generally, space–time codes constructed from finite field codes. Simulation results show that the proposed codes can outperform full diversity codes based on cyclic division algebras at low SNRs as well as utilize significantly smaller constellations. As a special subclass of cyclic codes, BCH codes have wide applications in communication and storage systems. A BCH code of length $n$ over $\mathbb {F}_{q}$ is always relative to an $n$ -th primitive root of unity $\beta $ in an extension field of $\mathbb {F}_{q}$ , and is called a dually-BCH code if its dual is also a BCH code relative to the same $\beta $. The question as to whether a BCH code is a dually-BCH code is in general very hard to answer. In this paper, an answer to this question for primitive narrow-sense BCH codes and projective narrow-sense ternary BCH codes is given. Sufficient and necessary conditions in terms of the designed distances $\delta $ will be presented to ensure that these BCH codes are dually-BCH codes. In addition, the parameters of the primitive narrow-sense BCH codes and their dual codes are investigated. Some lower bounds on minimum distances of the dual codes of primitive and projective narrow-sense BCH codes are developed. Especially for binary primitive narrow-sense BCH codes, the new bounds on the minimum distances of the dual codes improve the classical Sidel’nikov bound, and are also better than the Carlitz and Uchiyama bound for large designed distances $\delta $. Double-weight optical orthogonal codes are variable-weight optical orthogonal codes (OOCs), which have been widely applied in optical networks and systems. Some works have been devoted to optimal n , W , 1 , Q -OOCs with max w : w ∈ W ≤ 6. So far, there is no explicit construction of optimal n , W , 1 , Q -OOCs with W = 5,7 . It is known that heavier-weight codewords have better code performance than lighter-weight codewords. So, in this paper, we use cyclic packing to construct two infinite classes of optimal OOCs with weights set 5,7 explicitly, for any prime p ≡ 3 mod 4 and p ≥ 7. In this paper, we consider the list decoding property of codes under insertion and deletion errors (insdel for short). Firstly, we analyse the list decodability of random insdel codes. Our result provides a more complete picture on the list decodability of insdel codes when both insertion and deletion errors happen. Secondly, we construct a family of insdel codes along with their efficient encoding and decoding algorithms through concatenation method which provides a Zyablov-type bound for insdel metric codes. In this paper, we provide two complementary results for cyclic codes of composite length. First, we give a general construction of cyclic codes of length nr from cyclic codes of length n and a lower bound on the minimum distance. Numerical data show that many cyclic codes of composite length with the best parameters can be obtained in this way. Second, in the other direction, we show that for cyclic codes of length n with a primitive n-th root of unity as a non-zero, the minimum distance is roughly bounded by the square-free part of n. BCH codes are an important class of cyclic codes which have applications in satellite communications, DVDs, disk drives, and two-dimensional bar codes. Although BCH codes have been widely studied, their parameters are known for only a few special classes. Recently, Ding et al. made some new progress in BCH codes. However, we still have very limited knowledge on the dimension of BCH codes, not to mention the weight distribution of BCH codes. In this paper, we generalize the results on BCH codes from several previous papers. 1) The dimension of narrow-sense BCH codes of length $((q^{m}-1)/{\lambda })$ with designed distance $2\leq \delta \leq (({q^{\lceil (m+1)/2 \rceil }-1})/(\lambda)+1)$ is settled, where $\lambda $ is any factor of $(q-1)$. 2) The weight distributions of two classes of narrow-sense BCH codes of length $(({q^{m}-1})/2)$ with designed distance $\delta =(({(q-1)q^{m-1}-q^{\lfloor (m-1)/2\rfloor }-1})/2)$ and $\delta =(({(q-1)q^{m-1}-q^{\lfloor (m+1)/2\rfloor }-1})/2)$ are determined. 3) The weight distribution of a class of BCH codes of length $((q^{m}-1)/({q-1}))$ is determined. In particular, a subclass of this class of BCH codes is optimal with respect to the Griesmer bound. Some optimal linear codes obtained from this class of BCH codes are characterized. Most codes with an algebraic decoding algorithm are derived from Reed-Solomon codes. They are obtained by taking equivalent codes, for example, generalized Reed-Solomon codes, or by using the so-called subfield subcode method, which leads to alternant codes over the underlying prime field, or over some intermediate subfield. The main advantage of these constructions is to preserve both the minimum distance and the decoding algorithm of the underlying Reed-Solomon code. In this paper, we explore in detail the subspace subcodes construction. This kind of codes was already studied in the particular case of cyclic Reed-Solomon codes. We extend this approach to any linear code over the extension of a finite field. We are interested in additive codes who are deeply connected to subfield subcodes. We characterize the duals of subspace subcodes. We introduce the notion of generalized subspace subcodes. We apply our results to generalized Reed-Solomon codes which leads to codes with interesting parameters, especially over a large alphabet. Let $p$ be a prime, $s$ be a positive integer, and $\mathcal {R}$ be a finite commutative chain ring with the characteristic as a power of $p$. For a unit $\lambda \in \mathcal {R},~\lambda $ -constacyclic codes of length $p^{s}$ over $\mathcal {R}$ are ideals of the quotient ring $\mathcal {R}[x]/\langle x^{p^{s}}-\lambda \rangle $. In this paper, we derive necessary and sufficient conditions under which the quotient ring $\mathcal {R}[x]/\langle x^{p^{s}}-\lambda \rangle $ is a chain ring. When $\mathcal {R}[x]/\langle x^{p^{s}}-\lambda \rangle $ is a chain ring, all $\lambda $ -constacyclic codes of length $p^{s}$ over $\mathcal {R}$ are known. In this paper, we establish the algebraic structures of all $\lambda $ -constacyclic codes of length $p^{s}$ over $\mathcal {R}$ when $\mathcal {R}[x]/\langle x^{p^{s}}-\lambda \rangle $ is a non-chain ring. We also determine the number of codewords in each of these codes. Using their algebraic structures, we obtain symbol-pair distances, Rosenbloom–Tsfasman (RT) distances, and RT weight distributions of all constacyclic codes of length $p^{s}$ over $\mathcal {R}$. Apart from this, we derive necessary and sufficient conditions under which a constacyclic code of length $p^{s}$ over $\mathcal {R}$ is maximum-distance separable with respect to the: 1) Hamming metric; 2) symbol-pair metric; and 3) RT metric. We also provide an algorithm to decode the constacyclic codes of length $p^{s}$ over $\mathcal {R}$ using the known decoding algorithms of linear codes over finite fields with respect to the Hamming, symbol-pair, and RT metrics. Forward error correction (FEC) coding is an indispensable technique in the direct sequence spread spectrum (DS-SS) systems for satellite communication applications. Both the FEC and DS-SS can be regarded as specific cases of probabilistic computing based on analog circuits, which is expected to be a promising solution for power-limited scenarios. The combination of FEC and DS-SS techniques can provide sufficient link margin and robustness for communication systems. In this paper, a probabilistic receiver chain for the Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) coded DS-SS system is proposed. Generically, an m-sequence can be regarded as a codeword of cyclic linear codes. Similar to the decoding procedure of LDPC codes, the joint detection and decoding process of m-sequences can be performed by factor graph-based iterative message-passing algorithms (iMPAs). In terms of the iterative signal processing, we first present an improved approach of iterative stopping criterion which can reduce the average number of iteration by 90% for the LDPC decoding approach. Furthermore, a joint detection and decoding method is developed to provide quick synchronization of the m-sequence. Meanwhile, stopping criterion-based iMPAs are especially suitable for analog implementation with low complexity. Finally, cascading to the analog LDPC decoder, the implementation of the m-sequence detector is designed. The prototyping chip is fully integrated into a 0.35-μm CMOS technology, which can achieve higher throughput than 3 Gcps with a core chip area of 2.79 mm2 and power consumption of 6.99 mW for its core circuit.
