The techniques for solving complex optimization problems using nature inspired metaheuristic algorithms are widely accepted. Nature inspired methods use nature derived approaches to offer an efficient solution within polynomial time. This paper presents analytics of some of the significant nature inspired metaheuristic algorithms. It elaborates on the principles and concepts that are used in these algorithms representing their similarities, variations, and exceptions. The taxonomical classification and analytics presented in this paper list the nature derived phenomenon used to develop a wide variety of nature-inspired techniques. The algorithms are classified as per the type of agents used, search techniques, sub-optimization methods, type of constraints, and nature of problems. The survey comprehends the use of control parameters like exploration and convergence applicable to these algorithms and their domain specifications. The sources of nature inspiration are also presented with their variants. It establishes the analytics required to choose a specific nature-inspired heuristic algorithm for smart farming and related applications. The shuffled frog leaping algorithm (SFLA) is a promising metaheuristic bionics algorithm, which has been designed by the shuffled complex evolution and the particle swarm optimization (PSO) framework. However, it is easily trapped into local optimum and has the low optimization accuracy when it is used to optimize complex engineering problems. To overcome the shortcomings, a novel modified shuffled frog leaping algorithm (MSFLA) with inertia weight is proposed in this paper. To extend the scope of the direction and length of the updated worst frog (vector) of the original SFLA, the inertia weight α was introduced and its meaning and range of the new parameters are fully explained. Then the convergence of the MSFLA is deeply analyzed and proved theoretically by a new dynamic equation formed by Z-transform. Finally, we have compared the solution of the 7 benchmark functions with the original SFLA, other improved SFLAs, genetic algorithm, PSO, artificial bee colony algorithm, and the grasshopper optimization algorithm with invasive weed optimization. The testing results showed that the modified algorithms can effectively improve the solution accuracy and convergence property, and exhibited an excellent ability of global optimization in high-dimensional space and complex function problems. This paper aims to address uncertainty in practical applications that the experimental observations and measurements have nature of inhomogeneity, randomness, and imprecision. This study employs a new method for regression model prediction in an uncertain environment and presents fuzzy parameter estimation of fuzzy regression models using triangular fuzzy numbers. These estimation methods are obtained by new learning algorithms in which linear programming is used. In this study, the new algorithm is a combination of a fuzzy rule-based system, on the basis of particle swarm optimization (PSO) and ant colony optimization ACOR. In the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system method, the output is crisp. In this research, a hybrid algorithm has been proposed to get the fuzzy output based on linear programming. Meta-heuristic algorithms have been used to reduce the error in the proposed methods based on PSO and ACOR. In addition, two simulation and two practical examples in the field of machining process are applied to indicate the performance of the proposed methods in dealing with crisp input and fuzzy output (CIFO) problems where the observed output variables have the nature of inhomogeneity, randomness, and imprecision. Finally, the results of the proposed algorithms are evaluated. Based on examples, the proposed method is more accurate than the LP and FWLP methods but is not more complicated than the FWLP in computations. Using paired t test, a significant difference was shown between the proposed methods and previous methods, such as LP and FWLP, but there was no significant difference between the two proposed methods ACOR and PSO. Socio-cognitive computing is a paradigm developed for the last several years in our research group. It consists of introducing mechanisms inspired by inter-individual learning and cognition into metaheuristics. Different versions of the paradigm have been successfully applied in hybridizing Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Genetic Algorithms, Differential Evolution, and Evolutionary Multi-agent System (EMAS) metaheuristics. In this paper, we have followed our previous experiences in order to propose a novel mutation based on socio-cognitive mechanism and test it based on Evolution Strategy (ES). This paper aims to introduce an artificial intelligence approach to enhance short-term daily streamflow forecasts through the integration of machine learning (ML) techniques with meta -heuristic (MH) algorithms. To maximize performance, a comprehensive analysis involving the autocorrelation and partial autocorrelation functions of the observed streamflow was conducted to derive ten distinct input combinations, from which the most suitable set was selected for investigation. Subsequently, six distinct ML methods, namely, decision trees, support vector regression, long short-term memory, gated recurrent unit, multi-layer perceptron, and radial basis function (as the optimal input combination), were leveraged to predict one-day-ahead streamflow. The most promising outcomes from these six explored methods were synergistically amalgamated to enhance predictive precision. This amalgamation was then optimized by utilizing parameter values hyper-tuned by four different MH algorithms. The algorithms included the shuffled frog leaping algorithm, particle swarm optimization, ant colony optimization (ACO), and gray wolf optimization (GWO). In culmination, a case study centered around the "Wick" river in the UK was conducted to rigorously evaluate the performance of the proposed method, utilizing a range of statistical evaluation indices. The results underscored the efficacy of the proposed combined method in substantially refining streamflow predictions, exhibiting an impressive level of accuracy. Additionally, the outcomes emphasized that ACO and GWO stand out as the optimal algorithms for calibrating the parameters of the amalgamated model. For instance, the R2 values attained by the combined models optimized through the ACO and GWO algorithms were 0.69422 and 0.69444, respectively. Chiller systems hold a critical role in upholding comfort and energy efficiency within commercial buildings. Precise prediction of chiller energy consumption is imperative for operational optimization and the reduction of energy expenditures. This paper introduces an innovative methodology that integrates deep learning (DL), specifically Fixed Forward Neural Networks (FFNN), with Teaching-Learning-Based Optimization (TLBO) to enhance the accuracy of chiller energy consumption forecasts. Drawing on a diverse dataset from a commercial building, encompassing vital input parameters such as Chilled Water Rate, Building Load, Cooling Water Temperature, Humidity, and Dew Point, the study conducts a comprehensive comparison of metaheuristic algorithms (Genetic Algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Barnacles Mating Optimizer (BMO), Harmony Search Algorithm (HSA), Differential Evolution (DE), Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), and the latest RIME algorithm). TLBO's adept navigation of the intricate parameter space of DL yields highly precise predictions for chiller energy consumption. The study's outcomes underscore TLBO's potential, along with other metaheuristics, in optimizing DL and refining energy management practices in commercial buildings.
