Narrow linewidth erbium-doped fiber lasers (EDFLs) hold in significant potential optical fiber sensing, wavelength multiplexing transmission, and optical fiber communication. However, many EDFLs produced outputs with linewidth in several kHz level. Therefore, a high optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR), narrow linewidth single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) EDFL was proposed and investigated in this work. The EDFL utilized a combination of compound-ring cavity filter and a self-injection locked mechanism to generate a stable SLM output with an OSNR greater than 72 dB. The maximum wavelength drift and maximum peak power fluctuation over 60 min were maintained at low values of 0.0041 nm and 0.16 dB. Moreover, a narrow linewidth of 1.82 kHz at a measuring time of 0.002 s was realized. Furthermore, the research also investigated output power variations with different pump powers, relaxation oscillation, and the dependence of output central wavelength on the axial strain. Single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) fiber lasers have the advantages of stable output, long coherence length, and low noise. However, several fiber lasers still maintain multiple longitudinal mode outputs. Thus, a highly stable SLM erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) was proposed and investigated. The dual-ring compound cavity (DRCC) filter, composed of two Type-Ⅱ fiber rings, and a 1.5 m unpumped erbium-doped fiber (EDF) was used as a mode-selection filter. The mode-selection capability of the DRCC filter and unpumped EDF was investigated and discussed theoretically and experimentally. The proposed EDFL could generate stable SLM output with an optical signal-to-noise ratio of ∼ 64 dB over 60 min. The maximum wavelength drift was not observed on an optical spectrum analyzer and the maximum peak power fluctuation was kept at a low level of 0.16 dB. The output power variations with different pump powers, the relative intensity noise, the relaxation oscillation, and the linewidth at different integration times were investigated. Single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) fiber lasers play important roles in optical fiber communication. However, there has been little reported research on bidirectional SLM output, especially in the 2-μm band. In the work reported here, a bidirectional SLM output thulium-doped fiber laser (TDFL) using a cascaded triple-ring cavity (CTRC) filter was proposed and investigated. To realize bidirectional output, the proposed TDFL had a simple structure, using only two 2 × 2 optical couplers. To realize SLM output, the transmission spectrum, as well as the reversibility of the CTRC filter were discussed and investigated in detail. The direction-switchable SLM output was realized by polarization-dependent loss. By tuning the polarization controller carefully, each direction could generate SLM output with an optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) > 72 dB. The maximum wavelength and peak power fluctuation over 60 min were, respectively, 0.01 nm and 0.48 dB. The variation of output power with pump power, linewidth, relaxation oscillation, and relative intensity noise were also investigated. Wavelength-switchable fiber lasers play an important role in optical fiber communication systems. Although phase-shifted fiber Bragg grating (PS-FBG) has a narrow 3 dB bandwidth, it has rarely been reported as a multi-channel optical filter. Therefore, a five wavelength-switchable single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) was implemented and analyzed, where the cascaded PS-FBG with a 3 dB bandwidth of each channel narrower than 0.024 nm was used as a five-channel filter. The design, fabrication, and characterization of cascaded PS-FBG were implemented and analyzed in detail. By tuning the micro-displacement platform, five-single wavelength switchable SLM outputs with a high optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) were generated and the outputs were monitored over 60 min. The measured maximum wavelength drift and the peak power fluctuation were 0.02 nm and 1.73 dB. The relaxation oscillation peaks were lower than −100 dB/Hz and the minimum linewidth at an integration time of 0.001 s was 1.3102 kHz. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) stands as the most prevalent modified form of RNA in eukaryotes, pivotal in various biological processes such as regulating RNA stability, translation, and transcription. All members within the YT521-B homology (YTH) gene family are categorized as m6A reading proteins, capable of identifying and binding m6A modifications on RNA, thereby regulating RNA metabolism and functioning across diverse physiological processes. YTH domain-containing 2 (YTHDC2), identified as the latest member of the YTH family, has only recently started to emerge for its biological function. Numerous studies have underscored the significance of YTHDC2 in human physiology, highlighting its involvement in both tumor progression and non-tumor diseases. Consequently, this review aims to further elucidate the pathological mechanisms of YTHDC2 by summarizing its functions and roles in tumors and other diseases, with a particular focus on its downstream molecular targets and signaling pathways. Purpose: Human-induced marine environmental noise, such as commercial shipping and seismic exploration, is concentrated in the low-frequency range. Meanwhile, low-frequency sound signals can achieve long-distance propagation in water. To meet the requirements of long-distance underwater detection and communication, this paper aims to propose an micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) flexible conformal hydrophone for low-frequency underwater acoustic signals. The substrate of the proposed hydrophone is polyimide, with silicon as the piezoresistive unit. Design/methodology/approach: This paper proposes a MEMS heterojunction integration process for preparing flexible conformal hydrophones. In addition, sensors prepared based on this process are non-contact flexible sensors that can detect weak signals or small deformations. Findings: The experimental results indicate that making devices with this process cannot only achieve heterogeneous integration of silicon film, metal wire and polyimide, but also allow for customized positions of the silicon film as needed. The success rate of silicon film transfer printing is over 95%. When a stress of 1 Pa is applied on the x-axis or y-axis, the maximum stress on Si as a pie-zoresistive material is above, and the average stress on the Si film is around. Originality/value: The flexible conformal vector hydrophone prepared by heterogeneous integration technology provides ideas for underwater acoustic communication and signal acquisition of biomimetic flexible robotic fish. The insect olfactory recognition system plays a crucial role in the feeding and reproductive behaviors of insects. The odorant receptor co-receptor (Orco), as an obligatory chaperone, is critical for odorant recognition by way of forming heteromeric complexes with conventional odorant receptors (ORs). To investigate the biological functions of Orco in perceiving host plant volatiles and sex pheromone, the Orco gene was identified from the chive maggot Bradysia odoriphaga transcriptome data. Multiple sequence alignment reveals that BodoOrco exhibits an extremely high sequence identity with Orcos from other dipteran insects. The expression of BodoOrco is significantly higher in adults than in larvae and pupae, and the BodoOrco gene is primarily expressed in the antennae of both sexes. Furthermore, the Y-tube assay indicated that knockdown of BodoOrco leads to significant reductions in B. odoriphaga adults' response to all tested host plant volatiles. The dsOrco -treated unmated male adults show less attraction to unmated females and responded slowly compared with dsGFP control group. These results indicated that BodoOrco is involved in recognition of sex pheromone and host plant volatiles in B. odoriphaga and has the potential to be used as a target for the design of novel active compounds for developing ecofriendly pest control strategies. In modern big data warehouse systems, we observe a common phenomenon that a column of data values can be derived from one or several other columns by transforming and concatenating these columns. We call this relationship between columns a Soft Concatenation Mapping (SCM). SCMs imply significant redundancy in the schema or data, and therefore can be exploited for data integration or data compression. In this paper, we formalize the problem of SCM detection and prove it is NP-hard. We then propose efficient approximate algorithms to detect all SCMs or an optimal set of SCMs in a table. Nowadays, the influences of the communication structure on the frequency regulation performance in a multi-area power system are barely studied. In this paper, a decentralized frequency regulation method for a multi-area power system considering optimization of communication structure is presented, and the influence of the communication structure on the frequency regulation performance is studied. Firstly, the communication network model is described and the multi-area power system model considering communication structure is presented. Then, the optimization model of communication structure during a decentralized frequency regulation process is constructed. This model aims to speed up the convergence speed of the control together with ensuring the high algebraic connectivity of the communication structure. Quantum binary particle swarm optimization (QB-PSO) algorithm is introduced to solve this model and, based on this, the communication structure optimization process and frequency regulation method are proposed. SLM lasing was realized by utilizing a uniform fiber Bragg grating (UFBG) and a cascaded dual-ring cavity (CDRC) filter. The design, simulation, and characteristic analysis of three compound-cavity filters based on the Vernier effect are presented in detail, and provided the basis for experiments. The single-wavelength SLM lasing with a high OSNR of ∼75.10 dB, operating at 2048.44 nm was pumped by a 793 nm laser diode, and the SLM lasing was continuously monitored for 60 minutes. The peak power fluctuation and wavelength drift were less than 0.685 dB and 0.01 nm, respectively, over this time span. Map-matching is a process that aligns location points on a digital map and it is an essential step in location-based services. However, regular map-matching methods cannot archive very high accuracy due to the errors in raw location data and the complexity of road networks. Hence, the final resort for map matching is often through manual annotation, which is human labour intensive. Therefore, we propose iMatching , an interactive system for map-matching which greatly reduces annotation cost and achieves a high accuracy through an active learning approach. Specifically, we model the mapping of a sequence of location points to a road network as a hidden Markov model and automatically generate an initial result. Then, we select error-prone points on the trajectory and guide the annotator to review, and possibly correct, the results. This paper proposes a MEMS co-vibration combined hydrophone (CCH) to position the weak acoustic source of small-volume UUV acoustic self-guided cabins. With an external diameter of 36 mm, it adopts the MEMS triaxial accelerometer to form the vector channel and the MEMS capacitive omnidirectional microphone to form the scalar channel. This paper first analyzes the acoustic receiving model of an elastic-free sphere in water, designs a MEMS co-vibration combined hydrophone packaging and then simulates its acoustic performance. The average density of the encapsulated CCH is 1.01 g/cm3. The vector channel bandwidth is 20 Hz−1,000 Hz, and the sensitivity is −173 dB @ 1 kHz (re 1 V/ μPa) with good cosine directivity. The scalar channel sensitivity is −171 dB @ 1 kHz (re 1 V/ μPa) with omnidirectional directivity. The error of the orientation test in the standing wave tube is less than 1 degree. The sound source-level test results are mostly consistent with the theoretical calculation based on the actual distance. The above results indicate that the hydrophone can be mounted to UUV to perform sound source detection, which can meet the need for precise positioning, and has a specific application value. RFID has been gaining popularity due to its variety of applications, such as inventory control and localization. One important issue in RFID system is tag identification. In RFID systems, the tag randomly selects a slot to send a Random Number (RN) packet to contend for identification. Collision happens when multiple tags select the same slot, which makes the RN packet undecodable and thus reduces the channel utilization. In this paper, we redesign the RN pattern to make the collided RNs decodable. By leveraging the collision slots, the system performance can be dramatically enhanced. This novel scheme is called DDC, which is able to directly decode the collisions without exact knowledge of collided RNs. In the DDC scheme, we modify the RN generator in RFID tag and add a collision decoding scheme for RFID reader. We implement DDC in GNU Radio and USRP2 based testbed to verify its feasibility.
