The National Law 26.093 of Biofuels, allowed the sugar mills to be part of the Argentine energy matrix, consequently, since the implementation of mentioned law, the production of bioethanol increased steadily. This paper analyzes how the production of sugar cane, sugar, bioethanol, vinasse and its solids content evolved during the 2008-2016 harvests. To this end, solid balances were made from juice and molasses, based on analytical data and statistical data of the production of milled sugarcane for sugar, total sugar produced and total bioethanol produced. From the study it appears that, the increase in milled cane was very small in relation to the large increase in the production of anhydrous ethanol, which has largely been obtained by a productive scheme that led to a decrease in the amount of sugar produced and of a lower delivery of hydrated bioethanol to the market. The content of solids in vinasse remained constant, those that depend fundamentally on the non-sugar solids present in cane. Therefore, based on this productive scheme, it is possible to increase the production of bioethanol in Tucumán in a sustainable manner. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
