This paper presents a research conducted as part of development of the graduation thesis entitled: "Hydraulic numerical analysis of groundwater in the left hinterland of the Mostar hydroelectric power plant dam", which was developed and successfully defended at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Mostar in 2020. The Mostar hydroelectric power plant, in tandem with the Salakovac HPP, levels the flows in the downstream course of the Neretva River. In the area around the embankment and the diaphragm wall, there are indications of filtration deformations of soil, and development of dominant directions of groundwater flows. The paper examines the area of the left hinterland of the Mostar hydroelectric power plant dam in the MAGNET 4 WATER program, and compares the obtained results with the existing verified results from the DHI WASY FEFLOW program as well as the field results. It was concluded that the spatial model is suitable for further research and analyses, e.g. for monitoring groundwater flows in the area, and for the analysis of risks of contaminant transport underground the left hinterland of HPP Mostar. This paper is a continuation of the research on reinforcement of masonry walls using a combination of metal frames and mechanical dampers. This paper analyzes a single metal frame with and without reinforcement with mechanical dampers in order to have a clearer insight into the behavior of individual reinforcement components. It presents an overview of the basic characteristics of mechanical dampers, their configuration and combinations with metal frame, and special emphasis is placed on their earthquake behavior. The results of the numerical analysis for a single metal frame were obtained using two modern software packages, ABAQUS and SAP2000. After the results of the individual metal frame were obtained, the metal frame was strengthened by applying mechanical dampers and analyzed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Many masonry structures are located in seismically active areas where the action of seismic forces has revealed their vulnerability. Since such structures are built of composite materials, attention should be paid to all the structural elements that make it up. The objective of this paper is to present the procedure and analysis results for a masonry building in order to determine its seismic resistance. The AmQuake software, which facilitates the design and calculation of masonry buildings according to European standards and norms, was used for the analysis. By using the pushover method, the system response to an increasing horizontal force with a constant vertical load is monitored through the calculation. Numerical model based on finite element method for analysis of steel frame structures is presented. Model is implemented in computer program [9] and implies application of 1D (beam) finite element. Large displacement theory with incremental-iterative solution of equilibrium equations is applied. Application of numerical model is presented on an example of steel frame structure where initial geometric imperfections are also included. It is shown that presented numerical model and computer program [9] can be used for practical design of steel frame structures according to EN 1993-1-1 [10]. Main conclusions are given at the end. In this paper a new shape optimization algorithm is presented. As a model application we consider state problems related to fluid mechanics, namely the Navier-Stokes equations for viscous incompressible fluids. The general approach to the problem is described. Next, transformations to classical optimal control problems are presented. Then, the dynamic programming approach is used and sufficient conditions for the shape optimization problem are given.
