In this paper are suggested several possible interpretations to the analogy mentioned by Lévi-Strauss in order to understand totemism as a kind of mental activity, similar to that implicit in Boole's algebra. For such purpose, there is an outline of the boolean representation on Lévi-Strauss proposed general formula of kinship. Ultimately this leads the author to suggest that "savage thinking" is similar to mathematical thought when working with algorithms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
