The main contribution of this paper is to present a simple algorithm that theoretically and numerically assesses the switching angles of an inverter operated with the SPWM technique. This technique is the most widely used for eliminating harmonics in DC-AC converters for powering motors, renewable energy applications, household appliances, etc. Unlike conventional implementations of the SPWM technique based on the analog or digital comparison of a sinusoidal signal with a triangular signal, this paper mathematically performs this comparison. It proposes a simple solution to solve the transcendental equations arising from the mathematical analysis numerically. The technique is validated by calculating the total harmonic distortion (THD) of the generated signal theoretically and numerically, and the results indicate that the calculated angles produce the same distribution of harmonics calculated analytically and numerically. This paper proposes a single-phase, transformer-less, seven-level inverter that utilizes eight switches, three capacitors, and two diodes to produce seven voltage levels with triple boosting ability. The availability of the common-ground point eliminates the leakage current in PV applications. The proposed Transformer-Less Triple-Boosting Seven-Level Inverter (TLTB7LI) has the ability to feed different types of loads from non-unity to unity power factors. The voltage balancing of capacitors takes place naturally without the need for auxiliary circuits and complicated control strategies. This paper investigates the appropriateness of the proposed TLTB7LI for grid-connected application. The Peak Current Controller (PCC) is employed to generate the switching pulses and regulate the active/reactive power transfer between the converter and the output, which guarantees the high quality of injected current to the output. Moreover, the operational principles, its control technique, as well as the design procedure of the key components of the proposed inverter have been presented. The superiority of the proposed inverter over existing counterparts has been verified through comparative analysis. The phase circulating current (PCC) of the parallel three-phase inverter systems dramatically affects the power quality and conversion efficiency of the power grid. In this paper, a composite suppression strategy is proposed to solve the PCC issue by using the sliding mode control (SMC) approach and improved virtual impedance droop control. Taking the commonly used 2-group parallel three-phase inverter as an example, an inter- and intra-classification model is established by analyzing the sources of PCC. In order to suppress the inter-PCC, the traditional virtual impedance droop control is given, following the improved substitute by combining SMC. And the variables of the bus voltage, Q-U loop, P-f loop, and the virtual-induced reactance are also introduced for the robust control of the impedance droop. On the other side, a SMC-based suppression approach is designed to solve the issue of the intra-PCC. Its idea is to introduce a regulation factor for the space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) so that the zero-sequence voltage can be eliminated and the influence of the intra-PCC can be relieved. In weak grid, feedforward of grid voltage control is widely used to effectively suppress grid-side current distortion of inverters caused by harmonics in point of common coupling (PCC) voltage. However, due to its introduction of a positive feedback loop related to the grid impedance, it results in a significant reduction in the system phase margin. In view of this, in this paper, the output impedance of a three-phase LCL grid-connected inverter under a quasi-proportional resonant (QPR) controller is first modeled. Instead of the traditional grid voltage feedforward control strategy, a band-pass filter is added to the grid voltage feedforward channel. Secondly, a multi-objective constraint method is proposed to make improvements to the feedforward function. Then, a multi-objective constraint function is established with the constraints of base-wave current tracking performance, system stability margin, and low-frequency amplitude, and the feasibility of its function optimization design method is verified. Theoretical analysis shows that the optimized grid voltage feedforward control strategy can effectively reshape the phase characteristics of the system output impedance, which greatly broadens the adaptation range of the system to the grid impedance. Cascaded H-bridge inverters, which belong to strongly nonlinear time-varying system with complex dynamics, have been widely used in high-voltage and high-power engineering fields. In this paper, a carrier phase-shifted sinusoidal pulse-width modulation cascaded H-bridge inverter is taken as an example with piecewise analysis to establish the discrete iterative mathematical model. Furthermore, the nonlinear dynamic behavior of this inverter system is investigated using folding diagrams, spectrum diagrams, bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponents, etc. We find that this inverter can exhibit multiperiod bifurcation, tangential bifurcation and paroxysmal chaos within certain ranges of control coefficients and other circuit parameters, which will influence the system's stability seriously. On the basis of this discovery, the sinusoidal time-delay feedback control method is proposed. The difference between the load current of the controlled object and its own delay is used to form a feedback term, which is then fed into the sine function and proportional link to obtain the control term. Moreover, the Jacobian matrix of this feedback inverter system is derived, and the constraints on the feedback control coefficient are obtained based on the Jury criterion. Simulation results have verified the effectiveness of such a sinusoidal time-delay feedback control method, which can improve the stability and anti-interference of the system. This article presents a novel 3-Φ inverter that operates from a single direct current source and is based on the idea of switched-capacitor (SC) techniques. Each phase leg of the proposed topology (PT) consists of eight switches, two capacitors, and a diode. This configuration enables the generation of seven levels (line-to-line) voltage waveforms. The proposed design has several advantages, such as the capacitors' natural balancing, the ability to boost, minimum voltage stresses on the power switches, and fewer switching components. When compared to the conventional two-stage design, single-stage dc–ac power converters with boost capabilities present an intriguing option. This paper introduces a novel boost-type inverter for use in a wide variety of applications, including rolling mills, fans, pumps, maritime appliances, mining, tractions, and more. The study explains the proposed design, principle, control mechanism, and loss analysis in great depth. The advantages of the PT have been demonstrated through comparison with recently published SC topologies. This paper introduces a Multi-Level Cascade Inverter (MLI) based on Enhanced Quasi-Z Source Inverter (MQZSI) to connect photovoltaic (PV) systems based on the proposed method. Usually the interface among PV power supply and load is completed with MQZS-CMLI. In this paper, the proposed control scheme is comprehensive implementation of Recalling Enhanced Recurrent Neural Network (RERNN) and Quasi-Opposite Chemical Reaction Optimization (QOCRO) named as RENCO. The main objective of proposed method is to decide the efficiency of the PV system by the maximal power extraction. Here, MQZS-CMLI's modeling design contains suitable number of components, other than their capacitors and semiconductors comply with low-voltage stress. It is improved for providing that maximum power of the PV power generation system. At first, the goal function is described according to the parameters and limitations of controller (like voltage, current, power, modulation index, so on). These parameters apply to recommend RENCO technology input. The proposed RENCO technology improves voltage distribution, power transmission, and minimizes power fluctuations while sharing power with load. The proposed MPPT-based technology ensures that the maximum power is provided to load. The proposed method adjust the duty cycle of MQZS-CMLI and reduces the modulation load. Multilevel inverters (MIs) are widely used in voltage source inverter applications due to their advantages of high-quality output voltage waveform, low power loss and low voltage stress. Compared with multiple DC source MI (MDCS-MI), single DC source MI (SDCS-MI) needs one DC source. This makes SDCS-MI more simplified and avoid voltage unevenness among multiple sources, which are advantageous in renewable energy (RE) applications. In order to understand SDCS-MI, this paper classifies and compares existing SDCS-MIs according to classical topologies based on isolated and non-isolated construction, summarizes the advantages and limitations of each type of topologies, and briefly introduces various control strategies of SDCS-MI. This paper presents a state‐space average model of a three‐level photovoltaic (PV) inverter to understand short‐circuit currents transient characteristics. Analytical solution of the model is also derived. The proposed model is validated with PV system controller hardware in‐loop (HIL) test method. The errors between simulation and HIL tests results under various conditions are evaluated, testifying the validity of the proposed model. With the model and analytical solution, the decaying time constants of sub‐transient and transient processes are derived, which shows that the time constants of a three‐level PV inverter are not fixed and they vary with voltage dips. The analytical expression of short‐circuit currents is also formulated. The findings from this study are essential to short‐circuit current calculations of a power grid with large‐scale PV plants, coordination of power system protections, and grid planning. This paper presents an analysis of the fault current contributions of small‐scale single‐phase photovoltaic inverters under grid‐connected operation and their potential impact on the protection of distribution systems. To conduct this analysis, an autotransformer‐based voltage dip generator is proposed as a means to test the photovoltaic inverters' contribution to short‐circuit currents. Laboratory tests are then performed to obtain the short‐circuit current contribution of eight single‐phase photovoltaic inverters. Using the short‐circuit current data obtained, a behaviour model is developed and simulated on Matlab‐Simulink. The model is then applied to a real distribution system and case studies are conducted to simulate the potential impacts on the protection system. Results indicate that while the massive penetration of small‐scale single‐phase photovoltaic inverters can alter the protection system's operating time, the impacts are not significant. Only in very specific scenarios, such as events related to high impedance faults, some impact can be observed. In these situations, the presence of photovoltaic inverters further complicates the already difficult task of identifying high impedance faults through conventional overcurrent protections. This study provides valuable insights into the integration of photovoltaic inverters into distribution systems, and can aid in the development of effective protection measures for future grid designs. In recent years, there has been a trend toward expanding the operating frequency range and increasing the output power of Sound Navigation and Ranging (SONAR) systems to enhance their acoustic detection capabilities. However, due to this increase in operational power, the electrical capacity of amplifiers for SONAR system operation also increases, necessitating High-Power Amplifiers. When configured with a single amplifier, as in conventional methods, the volume of amplifiers increases due to volumetric increases in heat dissipation, components, and windings. These issues are detrimental to SONAR amplifier installation, mobility, maintenance, and equipment lifespan due to stress on individual components. Additionally, amplifiers for SONAR systems are comprised of power conversion devices, transformers for LC filters and matching, necessitating consideration of LC filters and matching transformers for enhancing voltage quality and efficiency to improve amplifier performance transmitted to SONAR transducers. However, previous research has focused on single-amplifier design methods, neglecting such considerations. Therefore, this paper proposes a design technique that overcomes the drawbacks of using the conventional design method by configuring multiple H-bridge inverters in a cascade format and utilizes one of the optimization algorithms, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), to derive amplifier design techniques that optimize component parameters for enhancing high-capacity amplifier performance. Subsequently, theoretical analysis, simulations, and experimental results comparing the proposed high-power amplifier design method with conventional single-amplifier design methods demonstrate similar error rates in operational frequency bands. Compared with the traditional grid-following photovoltaic grid-connected converter (GFL-PGC), the grid-forming photovoltaic grid-connected converter (GFM-PGC) can provide voltage and frequency support for power systems, which can effectively enhance the stability of power electronic power systems. Consequently, GFM-PGCs have attracted great attention in recent years. When an asymmetrical short-circuit fault occurs in the power grid, GFM-PGC systems may experience transient instability, which has been less studied so far. In this paper, a GFM-PGC system is investigated under asymmetrical short-circuit fault conditions. A novel Q-V droop control structure is proposed by improving the traditional droop control. The proposed control structure enables the system to accurately control the positive- and negative-sequence reactive current without switching the control strategy during the low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) period so that it can meet the requirements of the renewable energy grid code. In addition, a dual-loop control structure model of positive- and negative-sequence voltage and current is established for the GFM-PGC system under asymmetrical short-circuit fault conditions. Based on the symmetrical component method, the composite sequence network of the system is obtained under asymmetrical short-circuit fault conditions, and positive- and negative-sequence power-angle characteristic curves are analyzed. The influence law of system parameters on the transient synchronous stability of positive- and negative-sequence systems is quantitatively analyzed through the equal area criterion. The increasing popularity of electric drives employing an isolated dual-inverter (DI) topology is motivated by their superior DC-link voltage and power utilization, fault-tolerant operation, and potential for multilevel operation. These attributes are significant in battery-powered transportation, such as electric vehicles and aviation. Given the considerable freedom in modulation and control of the DI topology, this paper researches the impact of reference voltage vector distribution between the two individual inverters. The study also evaluates the influence of two well-established asynchronous modulation strategies—Space Vector PWM (SVPWM) and Depenbrock's Discontinuous Modulation (DPWM1). Since simulation tools nowadays play a crucial role in power electronics design and concept verification, the results are based on extensive and detailed models in Matlab/Simulink. Employing the basic field-oriented control of a 12 kW induction motor with precisely parameterized SiC switching devices for accurate loss calculation, this research reveals the possibility of significant energy savings at multiple operating points. Notably, optimal efficiency is achieved when one inverter operates up to half of the nominal speed while the other solely establishes a neutral point for the winding. Moreover, the results highlight DPWM1 as a superior strategy for the DI topology, showcasing reduced converter losses. Overall, it is shown that the system's losses can be significantly reduced just by the design of the voltage vector distribution in the drive's operating range and the modulation strategy selection. It is simple to implement conventional current control with a proportional integral (PI) controller. However, system stability and dynamic performance are not perfect, particularly when operating under unfavorable conditions. In this paper, an improved control method is proposed by introducing a compensation unit. The compensation unit can effectively compensate the system's phase around the crossover frequency, greatly enhancing the system's phase margin and stability. It is also capable of handling weak-grid conditions. In this paper, the concept of the proposed compensation unit is explained first. Then, the corresponding mathematical model for the current control loop is built, and system bode diagrams for the conventional and proposed methods are compared. Furthermore, the effect of the parameters for the compensation unit is investigated, and an optimization method is proposed to determine optimal parameters. In addition, to handle weak-grid conditions, the proposed scheme is expanded by including the compensation unit in the grid's feed-forward loop. Energy crises and the growth of the energy demand have increased the interest in utilizing unconventional power sources. Thus, renewable energy sources have become a topic of interest to mitigate rising energy concerns and cope with increased electricity demand. With remarkable merits including cleanness and abundance, photovoltaic (PV) solar energy systems are a key to solving these issues. The employed inverters should effectively utilize the maximum available power from the PV solar system and transfer this power to the utility grid without posing any further limitations. However, the unequal power generation of different PV systems caused by partial shading (PS) and other PV panel degradation factors leads to a reduction in generation capacity. One of the relatively new solutions to mitigate the mismatch concerns between the PV modules and sub-modules is to extract the maximum power of each sub-module individually. The main objective of this paper is to present a comprehensive review of such PV grid-connected inverters topologies associated with sub-module connection and control. It will classify the PV grid-tied inverters in accordance with the level where the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) system is implemented. A special focus has been placed on sub-module microinverters (MI) in terms of circuit topologies, conversion efficiency, and controller design. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of employing the distributed MPPT (DMPPT) approach to maximize the power generation of PV systems by mitigating the mismatch issues inside the PV module. The paper deals with a grid-connected single-phase battery charger integrated with photovoltaic generators (PVGs). The circuit topology consists of a multilevel architecture based on a Cascaded H-Bridge (CHB) rectifier. Its main task is to charge the batteries, primarily from the PVGs, by also assuring to keep their state-of-charge (SOC) balanced. Nevertheless, when the battery SOC overcomes a predefined upper limit, beyond which the charging process could be interrupted, the available PV power can no longer be transferred to the batteries. Therefore, to avoid an undesired curtailment of PV power production, this latter can be supplied to the grid by inverting the system operation. The paper shows how to achieve this result by implementing a dedicated control action based on a multi-step procedure. Numerical investigations are carried out on a 19-level CHB converter implemented in the PLECS environment to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed control technique. In order to reduce the sampling delay and improve bandwidth, sability margin, and the robustness of the active damping in LCL-filtered grid-connected inverters, real-time sampling provides a convenient method. However, aliasing is easily introduced in the control loop because of high-frequency switching harmonics, resulting in a rise in low-order harmonics. To address the challenge of aliasing under real-time sampling, a new method based on multisampling and mean filtering is proposed by combining the proposed harmonic detection and control methods in this paper. This method works by sampling and controlling the fundamental current and selective subharmonic currents separately. The fundamental current control loop without any additional filters maintains real-time sampling, while multisampling and mean filters are applied to the harmonic current control loop. The proposed control method can not only improve the dynamic response performance and control stability of the system but also effectively suppress the selective low-order current harmonics and the aliasing of sampling. Finally, the correctness of the proposed sampling scheme and control strategy is verified by the simulation based on R2018b, MathWorks, Natick, MA, USA and an experimental prototype of a three-phase grid-connected photovoltaic inverter rated at 230 V/50 Hz/40 kW. Photovoltaic (PV) systems are becoming essential to our energy landscape as renewable energy sources become more widely integrated into power networks. Preserving grid stability, especially during voltage sags, is one of the significant difficulties confronting the implementation of these technologies. This attribute is referred to as low-voltage ride-through (LVRT). To overcome this issue, adopting a Proportional-Integral (PI) controller, a control system standard, is proving to be an efficient solution. This paper provides a unique algorithm-based approach of the Marine Predator Algorithm (MPA) for optimized tuning of the used PI controller, mainly focusing on inverter control, to improve the LVRT of the grid, leading to improvements in the overshoot, undershoot, settling time, and steady-state response of the system. The fitness function is optimized using the MPA to determine the settings of the PI controller. This process helps to optimally design the controllers optimally, thus improving the inverter control and performance and enhancing the system's LVRT capability. The methodology is tested in case of a 3L-G fault. To test its validity, the proposed approach is compared with rival standard optimization-based PI controllers, namely Grey Wolf Optimization and Particle Swarm Optimization. The comparison shows that the used algorithm provides better results with a higher convergence rate with overshoot ranging from 14% to 40% less in the case of DC-Link Voltage and active power and also settling times in the case of MPA being less than PSO and GWO by 0.76 to 0.95 s. Transformerless grid-connected inverters for photovoltaic (PV) applications provide several advantages such as reduced cost and volume as well as an increased efficiency. However, the removal of the transformer gives rise to several problems related to leakage currents and electromagnetic interferences (EMI). This paper presents different chaotic unipolar sine-pulse width modulation (C-USPWM) techniques for a transformerless grid-connected PV inverter based on parameter selection. The main objective behind this proposed chaotic modulation technique is to reduce the conducted EMI without worsening the power quality and the common-mode voltage (CMV). The method is validated through numerical simulations and experimental tests carried out on laboratory prototype of an optimized H5 inverter (oH5). The obtained results showed its superiority to the conventional unipolar sine-pulse width modulation (USPWM). We showed also that the appropriate parameter selection of the C-UPSWM could advantageously combine an improved EMI performance and an efficient control, making it possible to deliver a significant reduction of the peaks' amplitudes in the frequency spectrum of the common-mode (CM) voltage. Grid-forming inverters, which are represented by droop control and virtual synchronous generator control, have been widely studied and applied because of their excellent grid-supporting ability and smooth off-grid switching. When a grid-forming inverter is connected to a microgrid or utility grid, the control loops of active power and reactive power will be coupled because of the voltage phase difference, which will affect the power control performance. This paper first derives the small-signal linearized model of the system, based on which a frequency feedforward control and an amplitude feedforward control are proposed to decouple the active power and reactive power control loops, respectively. The proposed decoupling strategy directly modifies the reference values through feedforward with an easily implementable principle that is applicable to various control coordinate systems, control coordinate systems, and control structures. By comparing system models with and without the proposed decoupling strategy, its effectiveness can be theoretically proven. Soft-switching technologies can effectively solve the problem of switching losses caused by increasing switching frequency of grid-connected inverters. As a branch of soft-switching technologies, load-side resonant soft-switching is a hotspot for applications of high-frequency inverters, because it has the advantage of achieving soft-switching without using additional components. However, the traditional PI control strategy based on the linear model is prone to destabilization and non-robust dynamic performance when large signal perturbation occurs. In this paper, a novel Passivity-Based Control (PBC) method is proposed to improve the dynamic performance of load-side resonant soft-switching grid-connected inverter. Besides, the model based on the Port Controlled Hamiltonian (PCH) model of the soft switching inverter is carried out, and the passivity-based controller is designed based on the established model using the way of interconnection and damping assignmentpassivity based control (IDA-PBC). Both stable performance and dynamic performance of the load-side resonant soft-switching inverter can be improved over the whole operating range. Finally, a 750 W load-side resonant soft-switching inverter simulation model is built and the output performance is compared with the traditional PI control strategy under stable and dynamic conditions. Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) have been noticed by researchers due to their high efficiency, low pollution, and high‐power density in distributed generation systems. In this paper, an LCL‐type grid‐tied PEMFC fuel cell power conditioning system is evaluated in a harmonics‐polluted low‐voltage grid. The LCL‐filters can lead to resonance and instability despite their capability to attenuate harmonics. In this research, a transformer has been used to connect the fuel cell inverter to the grid. The grid‐side inductor of LCL‐filter is realized by the leakage inductance of the transformer. In addition, for more effective resonance damping and attenuation of current ripples caused by the grid voltage harmonics, a capacitor voltage comprehensive feedback control has been designed and investigated. The comprehensive feedback control of the capacitor voltage contains proportional, first and second‐order derivative terms. In the proposed control scheme, the capacitor‐current‐feedback is opposed by the capacitor voltage derivative term due to reverse loop gain, which leads to deleting both of these loop gains. As a result, there is no need to utilize a current sensor in this control method. Consequently, the proportional and second‐order derivative terms of the capacitor voltage attenuate the LCL‐filter resonance. A low‐pass filter is also considered in the second‐order derivative loop in the controllable frequency range to ensure system stability. The simulation results of the PEMFC power conditioning system in different conditions confirm the proper attenuation of LCL resonance of grid‐tied inverter, high‐quality current injection to the harmonics polluted grid, the suitable stability, and the appropriate dynamic response for the proposed system. Under the proposed control scheme, the fuel cell power conditioning system demonstrates satisfactory stability. Even when reducing the LCL filter values by 5%–20%, the system maintains its stability effectively. This paper proposes a new adaptive nonlinear extended state observer‐based model predictive controller (ANLESO‐MPC) for residual current compensation (RCC) inverters to compensate fault characteristics in resonant grounded power systems (RGPSs). In the proposed scheme, the adaptation feature is used to adapt the adjustable inductor appearing in the dynamical model of RGPSs by satisfying the desired fault current compensation requirement which in turn will ensure the resonance condition. Since the adapted parameter is used in the control signal, the ANLESO‐MPC offers robustness against parameter sensitivity. The neutral voltage is considered as a disturbance and the change in this voltage as an extended state to estimate this disturbance while incorporating the adapted parameter so that the adaptive nonlinear extended state observer (ANLESO) provides robustness against disturbances. Finally, the model predictive controller (MPC) is designed for the RCC inverter utilizing estimated disturbances and adapted parameters to fully achieve the fault current compensation. The performance of the controller is evaluated using simulations in MATLAB/Simulink and OPAL‐RT real‐time platforms under varying fault impedances as the fault characteristics change with variations in the fault impedance. Three-level NPC inverters have been widely used in grid-connected systems due to their superior performance compared with two-level inverters, but more switches lead to high fault probability. Meanwhile, the neutral point potential (NPP) fluctuation of the DC link is an inherent problem of three-level NPC inverters. To keep the three-level NPC inverter running stably after single-arm failure, a fault-tolerant control strategy based on an optimised space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the common-mode voltage (CMV) of the postfault three-level NPC inverter is analysed and then the preliminary synthesis principles of the reference voltage vector are determined. Then, in order to ensure the NPP balance and the quality of the grid-connected currents, the reference voltage vector synthesis rules are optimised, a low-pass filter (LPF) and a hysteresis comparator are designed, respectively, to ensure the quality of grid-connected currents and effectively decrease the DC link NPP deviation. Finally, the simulation results show that the proposed fault-tolerant control strategy can realize the stable and reliable operation of the grid-connected three-level NPC inverter after single-arm failure, and the CMV can be reduced significantly, the quality of grid-connected currents is also improved. The main aim of the research work presented in this paper consists of proposing an effective control scheme for a grid-connected single-phase photovoltaic (PV) system to enhance not only the power quality at the point of common coupling (PCC) but also to operate with a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller. Moreover, an orthogonal signal generator (OSG) module for effective grid synchronization, a current reference generation controller, and a PWM generating block have also been designed and included in this paper. The proposed control strategy allows the MPPT controller to switch to faulty mode and maintains the voltage according to network requirements using an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS)-based control whenever a fault occurs at the PCC. The performance of the analyzed control strategy, which is based on the static compensation of the DC-link voltage fluctuations in a grid-connected inverter powered by PV, is further explored through simulations in MATLAB, and the results are included in this paper. Moreover, the control scheme is implemented experimentally using a dSPACE DS 1104 control board and then assessed on a small laboratory-scale single-phase PV system that is subjected to some fault scenarios. This paper introduces a mathematical design and analysis of three-phase inverters used in electric drive applications such as aerospace, electric vehicles, and pumping applications. Different wide bandgap (WBG) semiconductor technologies are considered in this analysis. Using SiC MOSFETs and Si IGBTs, two drive systems are developed in order to show the improvement in the efficiency of the inverter. The efficiency, total losses of the drive systems and the power losses of two inverters are computed and compared for both drive systems at the same operating condition. The drive system with SiC MOSFET shows much better performance compared to the drive system with Si IGBT. The SiC MOSFET system provides a 59.39%, 86.13%, and 29.76% lower conduction losses, switching losses and drive's total losses, respectively, compared to the Si IGBT system. The efficiency of the SiC MOSFET system is 2.46%pu higher than the efficiency of the Si IGBT drive system. Moreover, this paper introduces a detailed analysis for the dc-link voltage and current ripples in three-phase inverters. Furthermore, the minimal dc-link capacitor needed to deal with the ripple current and voltage is investigated. Inverter is required to operate at both grid-connected and grid-forming mode for microgrid. When an unplanned microgrid disconnecting to grid circumstance happens, the transition will cause severe current shock to system with multi-parallel microgrid inverters. This paper adopts a dynamic virtual resistance-based droop control strategy and small signal analysis method to reduce the current shock, improve the system stability and safety. The large dynamic virtual resistance is added to the control loop when the mode transition event occurs so the shock current is limited. Comparison between the capacitor current feedback for seamless mode transition method and the proposed method is made to prove the validation, and parameters' impact on the system is also analyzed. Results, which are conducted on MATLAB/Simulation and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) experimental platform verify the feasibility of the proposed method in this paper, effectively reduce the current shock by more than 60%. With the emergence of renewable energy sources (RESs), the power grid all over the world is going through a paradigm shift. The inverter based RESs are replacing the conventional rotating synchronous generators and this trend is expected to continue in coming years. Consequently, the grid strength is decreasing, which can pose significant challenges on the grid stability, especially during integration of IRESs. This paper presents a thorough analysis on the integration challenges of IRESs in weak grids. The paper also presents a comprehensive investigation on the impacts of factors, such as available fault level at the point of interconnection (POI), feeder length and grid nature on the POI voltage, and maximum allowable power injection by IRES. This is followed by maximum allowable IRES power injection sensitivity analysis to quantify the impacts of the aforementioned factors. Changes are being implemented in the electrical power grid to accommodate the increased penetration of renewable energy sources interfaced with grid-connected inverters. The grid-forming (GFM) control paradigm of inverters in active power grids has emerged as a technique through which to tackle the effects of the diminishing dominance of synchronous generators (SGs) and is preferred to the grid-following (GFL) control for providing system control and stability in converter-dominated grids. The negative-sequence current component and harmonic components generated when an asymmetrical fault occurs in the power grid seriously affect the normal operation of the photovoltaic (PV) grid-connected inverter. In order to suppress the negative-sequence current component and the harmonic component of the grid-connected current, and to meet the normal grid-connected operation requirements of the PV grid-connected inverter when asymmetrical faults occur in the grid, this paper proposes the proportional integral double-resonant (PI-DR) current controller, which consists of the PI controller and double-resonant controllers. The PI-DR current controller can directly control the negative-sequence current component and the grid-connected current harmonic component in the output current in the forward synchronous rotating coordinate system, without decomposing the positive and negative sequence currents. The PI-DR current controller ensures that the PV grid-connected inverter can realize normal grid-connected operation and improves the quality of the power when an asymmetrical fault occurs in the power grid. Virtual synchronous generators (VSGs) are one of the most relevant solutions to integrate renewable energy in weak grids and microgrids. They indeed provide inverters characteristics of rotating machines (inertia for instance) that are useful for stabilizing the system, notably in the context of the high variability of the production. Thanks to the virtual characteristics of the VSG, the virtual parameters of the emulated synchronous machine can be optimally adapted online as a function of the electric environment of the inverter. We call that inverter's control a polymorphic VSG. The online adaptation of the critical control parameters of the VSG helps reduce the risk of deterioration of the inverter's constituents that might be induced by harsh events (frequent in weak grids) but, more importantly, improves the robustness of the system. In this paper, four implementations of a polymorphic VSG controller are compared on a simple microgrid study case to a complete VSG model. For the test, polymorphic VSGs have to minimize frequency and voltage oscillations while withstanding short circuits, which is typically a requirement for units in this context. One of the controls is based on recurrent optimization over a prediction time horizon, and two sub-optimal ones target practical implementation in industrial inverters with limited computational power. Results show a clear reduction in incidents in the microgrid thanks to the controllers. The error reduction with the complete polymorphic VSG is up to 100% for the voltage, 32% for the currents, and 79% for the duty ratio. Those values are decreased by 30 to 50% with the sub-optimal controllers but for a reduction in the computational burden of more than 97%. Recommendations are proposed for the development of an auto-adaptive polymorphic VSG from a high technology-readiness-level perspective, i.e., targeting a compromise between error reduction and computational burden. Industries using electrical power have a critical and pressing need for improved power quality (PQ). Several important problems have already been identified, such as voltage swell, sag, and harmonics. However, PQ fluctuation issues remain unresolved. A series of active power filters are used to shield delicate loads from PQ related problems. This paper present a low-complexity control technique for voltage compensation using a type of custom power device used with different inverter topologies called Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR). In this study, a three-phase Z-Source Inverter-based DVR is employed to reduce voltage disruption, including voltage fluctuation, sag, swell, and harmonics. Error-driven Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller provides higher PQ performance in terms of voltage augmentation, stabilization, and reduction in harmonic distortion in the distribution system. This strategy keeps the load voltage near or close to the nominal value and addresses many other voltage issues. The gain parameter of a PID controller is tuned using Harris Hawks Optimization (HHO) method. The proposed work is compared with traditional controllers as well as Genetic Algorithm-based PID controllers, and the distortion of total harmonics comparisons are also conducted to show the accuracy of the proposed Z-DVR. The conventional proportional-gain-feedback link can only obtain the smallest effective damping region (EDR) due to the control delay among all the active damping methods regarding the capacitor current feedback. The digitally controlled system tends to be unstable when the system resonant frequency reaches the critical frequency caused by the grid impedance variation. To weaken the adverse effect on the system caused by the control delay, phase-lead feedback links are applied along the feedback path to provide phase compensation. By taking the simplicity and reliability of the feedback links into account, this paper proposes an alternative to an ideal differentiator, which consists of the Tustin discrete form of 's' and a digital low-pass filter. This proposed method has an identical phase frequency characteristic as an ideal differentiator but a better magnitude frequency characteristic, and its EDR can reach [0, fs/3]. The system stability analysis is conducted under different resonant frequencies, and under the condition of a weak grid, the co-design approach of the active damper and digital controller is presented. Dead-time is the most important disturbance in a voltage-source inverter's operation. It introduces low-order harmonics at the inverter's output voltage. To compensate for the dead-time effects in three-phase grid-tied inverters, this paper proposes a Linear Quadratic Gaussian (LQG) multivariable control approach. The LQG multivariable control is known as a robust control approach while provides a high band-width for the closed-loop system. Therefore, it promises significant attenuations in the dead-time introduced harmonics. To achieve a high performance, we run the three-phase grid-tied inverter in the current-controlled mode. Based on the nominal multivariable model derived for the three-phase grid-tied inverter in a synchronous reference frame, the LQG controller is composed such that the closed-loop system exhibits robust stability while attenuates disturbances significantly. The dead-time introduced harmonics produce disturbances in the synchronous reference frame with the highest frequencies. This is the reason for considering the dead-time as the most important disturbance in an inverter's operation. For an experimental set-up manufactured for the three-phase grid-tied inverter, we developed a detailed model in MATLAB/Simulink. It is employed for the performance verifications of designed LQG controller. Extensive results are presented for different important scenarios, based on which, the excellent performance of proposed approach is proven. In fact, by employing the proposed approach, the dead-time introduced harmonics are significantly attenuated such that a Total Harmonics Distortions (THD) of about 5% is achieved for the injected currents to grid which meets the IEEE 1547 standard. Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH) is one of the key parameters associated with comfort of an automobile. An Electric Vehicle (EV) consists of transmission driven by electric motor which ultimately gets its power or current supply from inverter. The aim of this work is to investigate and analyze the operation mechanism and power control principle of a bolted Langevin type (BLT)-loaded phase-shifted control inverter and to find a safe power control method for a phase-shifted control inverter used to drive a high-power BLT by preventing the differential current (shock current) from occurring in the right branches of a phase-shifted full-bridge circuit. In this paper, by allowing the inverter operating frequency to operate under inductive loads that coincide with the zero points of voltage and current rather than the resonant frequency of the BLT, which results in the generation of a shock current in the right branch of the full-bridge circuit, the switches of the right-branch also enabled zero-voltage, zero-current switching on (ZVZCS turn-on). The proposed method can fundamentally eliminate the generation of shock current by realizing ZVZCS turn-on on the right-branch switch elements of the inverter. In traditional grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) installations, when partial shadowing occurs between different PV modules in a string, bypass diodes short-circuit the output terminals of shadowed modules, and the whole system forgoes their potential energy production. This loss can be recovered if a dc-dc converter (micro-converter) is coupled to every PV module, and operated at the maximum power point (MPP). In this scenario, without communication links between the distributed micro-converter and the grid-tied inverter, a start-up procedure must be carefully designed to seamlessly allow the system to transfer PV power to the grid. During this phase, potentially damaging over-voltages and abrupt transients occurring at the micro-converters/inverter interface must be avoided. In this paper, the control algorithm of each micro-converter is enhanced to provide a smooth start-up operation so that PV units can safely start transferring power to the inverter and the grid. Improving from previous works, the proposed control technique is simple and removes the need for current sensors at the output of each micro-converter and at the inverter dc-link, with an economical advantage. Simulation results demonstrate the successful system start-up behavior, whilst confirming the benefits of the proposed control technique. First, the dc-link is energized from the rectified grid voltage. Then, the micro-converters raise the dc-link voltage so that the available PV power is transferred to the grid, with this sequence of operations not causing any abrupt electrical transient. Green energy from Solar PV is getting increased attention in the industries due to the falling price of solar panels in the world market. A grid-tied inverter is one of the major components in such a system, where the DC energy from PV is converted to AC and synchronized with the grid to obtain power sharing between the PV and the grid for the industrial drives. In this paper, a DC link has been proposed instead of an AC link for interconnection between the solar PV system and the grid to run those industrial drives. In most modern industrial applications, induction motors are driven by VVVF (Variable Voltage and Variable Frequency) inverters to achieve efficient speed control. The inverters commonly have a rectifier section at the front end that rectifies the input AC to DC and the DC is then used in PWM mode to generate the required voltage and frequency for the induction motor operating under variable speed and load conditions. Such an inverter can use both AC or DC as the input so long the supply voltage has the right value for the inverter to operate. In our proposition, we eliminate the grid-tied inverter and use a DC link, created from the rectified AC and the regular Solar PV, to obtain the power-sharing between the PV output and the grid. Using the DC link output directly to energize the VVVF inverter has an impact on the performance of the inverter. In the proposed system, the solar PV array is designed in such a way that the grid remains as the supplementary power source only to supplement any shortfall in the PV output due to variable sunshine conditions. The control circuit used in this novel technique is inexpensive, efficient, and simple in design when compared to the grid-tied inverters. The proposed system has been implemented at Niagara Textiles in Gazipur, Bangladesh. The experimental/practical results are presented to validate the basic concept. Around a 20% reduction in the cost of energy has been reported in this paper, with a more than 90% efficient system. This paper addresses the synchronization and operation of a 140 kVA inverter system connected to the main grid as part of a decentralized microgeneration system. The considerations for the supply of electrical energy stored in battery banks, mostly of photovoltaic origin, involve a study of the details of a rigid nonlinear system, which parallels the generation and distribution standards typical of hydroelectric and thermoelectric plants. Considering aspects related to power electronics operation, this paper presents both the modeling and the controlling aspects necessary to synchronize and ensure a stable operation of the microgeneration systems when connected to the main grid. Statistical processing was developed to guarantee synchronization between the systems without presenting electric shocks by simulating the magnetic link in asynchronous generators to meet this aim. The proposed model simulates the increase in power by a phase shift by maintaining a constant frequency based on a Chirp wave generator. The proposed process considers a generation power baseband operation. A Mamdani-type fuzzy proportional-integral controller is used to determine the power setpoint, which sets the Chirp generator phase shift setpoint, which includes a Mamdani fuzzy proportional-type controller. Both controllers are connected in a cascade. The applied correlational technique to achieve the synthesis of the sinusoid and the synchronization presented optimal performance when using 17 samples per signal period. Temperature fluctuation is the primary reason for gradual failure of IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) module in inverter system, and overall thermal management is an effective way to smooth temperature fluctuation and prolong the service life of IGBT module. Currently there are a series of problems with the module temperature management method of inverter system, including complicated control method, limited adjustment range, slow response, and poor control accuracy, etc. To cope with these matters, this paper aims to study a thermal management strategy for inverter system. At first, this paper built a model for temperature prediction and control of inverter system based on linear time-varying state space, the model measures system state based on estimation and can calculate the control variables with the mutual effect between different variables taken into consideration but without the necessity of system decoupling. Then, this paper proposed a thermal management strategy for inverter system based on predictive control and optimized it further. Distributed power generation plays a critical role in the stability and reliability of modern power systems. Due to the rapid growth of renewable energy generation, the requirements of the transmission and distribution system operators are becoming more stringent. Among these requirements, one of the most important is the Low-Voltage Ride-Through (LVRT) capability, which demands that the inverters remain connected to the grid and provide support during voltage sags. For this purpose, flexible current control algorithms stand out because they can manage unbalanced voltages and simultaneously achieve other control objectives. With the aim of presenting a concrete document focused on describing fundamental principles and discussing common design guidelines, this paper presents an overview of flexible current control strategies applied to LVRT capability. Photovoltaic (PV) energy systems have found diverse applications in fulfilling the increasing energy demand worldwide. Transformer-less PV inverters convert the DC energy from PV systems to AC energy and deliver it to the grid through a non-isolated connection. This paper proposes a new transformer-less grid-connected PV inverter. A closed-loop control scheme is presented for the proposed transformer-less inverter to connect it with the power grid. The proposed transformer-less inverter reduces extra leakage current and holds the common-mode voltage at a constant point. To eliminate extra leakage current, as well as achieve constant common-mode voltage, a midpoint clamping method is utilized to operate the inverter. The proposed transformer-less inverter is formed of seven insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) employing a unipolar sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) technique for switching purposes. An LCL filter is employed to reshape the two-level inverter output voltage and current to obtain closer sinusoidal waveforms. The output voltage and current total harmonic distortion (THD) of the proposed transformer-less inverter were found to be 1.25% and 0.94%, respectively, in the grid-connected mode. The leakage current elimination mechanism with the proposed transformer-less inverter is deeply analyzed in this paper. In this paper, the method and a control algorithm for detecting resonant destruction of a resonant auxiliary power supply for railway vehicle are proposed. It is essential to reduce the weight of the electric equipment attached to the lower part of the railway vehicle because it greatly affects the life of the railway vehicle, such as wheel and bearing. In order to reduce the weight and volume of the auxiliary power supply, in the case of windings, high-speed switching should be performed by lowering the input voltage. Therefore, in this paper, the auxiliary power supply control algorithm using an LLC resonant converter to reduce the weight of auxiliary power supply for railway vehicle is proposed, and the method of detecting resonant destruction due to device failure of a resonant converter is proposed. The proposed algorithm steps down the wire voltage using an input buck converter for high-speed switching, and the inverter input voltage is controlled through the LLC resonant converter. In addition, ZVS (Zero Voltage Switching) is operated to minimize the loss of the resonant converter, and the optimal design of the resonant tank is also proposed. In order to detect resonant destruction, a detection method formulated by analyzing the resonant current peak value for the load capacity is proposed. Microgrid (MG) is not only undergoing rapid upsurge and an effective combination of distributed generations (DGs)-based renewable energy sources, but it also fulfills a significant function in upgrading grid infrastructure. It is necessary for DGs, during and after any disturbances in the voltage, to stay connected in order to enhance the voltage, most importantly guaranteeing the stability of the power system. In this present context, the behavior of the distributed generations control systems has a significant impact on the MG performance. This paper investigates the effect of different control schemes of the inverter-based DG unit on the stable operation of MG after the occurrence of faults that lead to islanding events. In this paper, an appropriate control strategy is proposed to enhance the fault ride-through of MG. Within the scope of the study, the MG consists of a conventional diesel generator and an inverter-based DG unit. The MG also contains several load types; RLC load as a static load and induction motor as a dynamic load. The MATLAB Simulink is used to model the MG and its inverter control schemes. In order to assure MG stability, the variations of the voltage and frequency are possessed as key references. Results indicate that the control strategies of the inverter have a strong influence on the stability of MG. Using a low pulse ratio, the electromagnetic interference and switching loss of an inverter can be effectively reduced, particularly in high-power applications. However, due to variations in grid impedance, it is a challenging task to achieve stable operation of an LCL-type grid-connected inverter (GCI) using the active damping method with low pulse ratio. Thus, a novel three-phase dual-frequency GCI is presented to ensure the symmetry of the output power and the stable operation of the system address stability issues. The proposed inverter topology in this article is composed of two inverters in parallel, which are, respectively, a power inverter unit (PIU) and an auxiliary harmonic elimination unit (AHEU). To reduce the switching loss and improve the inverter efficiency, the switching frequency of the PIU is relatively low, injecting current into the grid. Moreover, the feedforward compensation method is used in AHEU. AHEU operates at high switching frequency to generate a current component that is symmetrical with the ripple com-ponent, improving the power quality, without extracting the current harmonic as the current reference. The operating principle of feedforward compensation is explained, and a proper parameter design procedure is presented in this paper. Since L filters are used for the proposed inverter, the system can operate stably where the ratio of switching frequency to fundamental frequency is low. A 10 kW laboratory prototype was built. The experimental results showed that the grid current ripple could be effectively eliminated and the THD of the grid current was 3.01%. The proposed inverter has good stability in a weak grid, and the efficiency of the proposed inverter is 95.98% at rated current, which is 0.81% higher than the traditional GCI, effectively increasing the efficiency of the system. In response to the model predictive control (MPC) driving system, this paper proposes a multi-adjustment strategy for phase current reconstruction based on a coupled current sampling method. The proposed coupled current sampling method eliminates the need to modify the inverter's internal wiring. The current signals utilized in the proposed method are all external current signals from the inverter and do not involve any current signals from the internal circuitry of the inverter. By analyzing the current sampling mechanism of duty-cycle model predictive control (DC-MPC) as a modulation method, the underlying principles of the non-reconstructible current regions in the coupled current sampling method are revealed. The non-reconstructible regions are accurately delineated into low and high-modulation regions using coupled current sampling. A multi-adjustment strategy for phase current reconstruction is proposed to address the non-reconstructible regions. In the low-modulation regions, phase current reconstruction is achieved through compensated voltage vector pulse injection. In the high-modulation regions, phase current reconstruction is accomplished using the zero-voltage vector insertion approximation method, which maintains the symmetry of the PWM waveform and avoids current distortion. This article presents a comprehensive review of reduced device count multilevel inverter (RDC MLI) topologies for PV systems. Multilevel inverters are widely used in medium-voltage and high-power applications such as wireless power transform applications, flexible AC transmission (FACT), active filters, AC motor drives, high-voltage DC transmission (HVDC), and renewable energy sources due to their high modularity and high-power quality output. Multilevel inverters have the ability to diminish the harmonics content in the output voltage by applying various modulation techniques. The literature in this field showed that the high-power quality and high modularity of the output demand an undeniable need for multilevel inverter topology. Research in this field has identified various multilevel inverter topologies, each possessing their own merits and demerits. The ubiquitous availability of multilevel inverter topologies illustrates the complexity of their accurate selection. To avoid such complexity, this review shows the state of the art of various reduced device count (RDC) multilevel inverter (MLI) topologies. Details of the various RDC MLIs, along with their comparisons, are provided in this paper. This review will be an important reference tool for future work on RDC MLI for photovoltaic (PV) systems. This paper presents a mathematical model of 255 kW grid-connected solar photovoltaic (SPV) system. To study the performance characteristics of the grid-connected SPV system, a new hybrid adaptive grasshopper optimization algorithm with the recurrent neural network (AGO-RNN) control technique was implemented. Furthermore, the power quality at the point of common coupling (PCC) has been studied using the conventional (PSO) and proposed AGO-RNN controllers. The characteristics of the PV system were analyzed under varying environmental (variable irradiance and temperature) conditions considering 3 different cases such as (i) standard test conditions (STC), (ii) variable radiation with constant temperature, and (iii) variable radiation with variable temperature. For each case, the total harmonic distortion (THD) has been calculated using the proposed AGO-RNN control technique, and the results were compared with particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique. The 255 kW PV model is initially developed and connected to a three-level NPC inverter, an MPPT-based perturbation and observation algorithm. Later, the PV model is controlled by an AGO-RNN pulse width modulation (PWM) controller and is then integrated to the main grid at PCC. The main advantage of this technique is exploiting the separate DC-DC converter between the SPV module and the inverter. Finally, the proposed grid-connected SPV system was simulated on MATLAB for analyzing the performance of the system based on its I-V and P-V characteristics, inverter voltage, grid power, gird voltage, grid current, power factor, and THD under different environmental conditions. The simulation results demonstrate that the current magnitude and THD of the SPVGC system are improved with the cutting-edge AGO-RNN controller compared to PSO in all three different scenarios, and this value is less than 1.6%, which is within the permitted limits of IEC 61727 standards. In this paper, the explicit state-space model for a multi-inverter system including grid-following inverter-based generators (IBGs) and grid-forming IBGs is developed by the two-level component connection method (CCM), which modularized inverter control blocks at the primary level and IBGs at the secondary level. Based on the comprehensive state-space model representing full order of system dynamics, eigenvalues of the overall system are thoroughly analyzed, identifying potential adverse impacts of not only grid-following inverters, but also grid forming inverters on the system smallsignal stability, with the underlying principle of oscillations also understood.
