This paper proposes a single-phase, transformer-less, seven-level inverter that utilizes eight switches, three capacitors, and two diodes to produce seven voltage levels with triple boosting ability. The availability of the common-ground point eliminates the leakage current in PV applications. The proposed Transformer-Less Triple-Boosting Seven-Level Inverter (TLTB7LI) has the ability to feed different types of loads from non-unity to unity power factors. The voltage balancing of capacitors takes place naturally without the need for auxiliary circuits and complicated control strategies. This paper investigates the appropriateness of the proposed TLTB7LI for grid-connected application. The Peak Current Controller (PCC) is employed to generate the switching pulses and regulate the active/reactive power transfer between the converter and the output, which guarantees the high quality of injected current to the output. Moreover, the operational principles, its control technique, as well as the design procedure of the key components of the proposed inverter have been presented. The superiority of the proposed inverter over existing counterparts has been verified through comparative analysis. In photovoltaic grid-connected systems, the interaction between grid-connected inverters and the grid may cause harmonic oscillation, which severely affects the normal operation of the system. To improve the quality of the output electrical energy, photovoltaic grid-connected systems often use LCL filters as output filters to filter out high-frequency harmonics. Taking the three-phase LCL-type photovoltaic grid-connected inverter system as an example, this paper addresses the issue of harmonic resonance. Firstly, based on the harmonic linearization method and considering the impact of the coupling compensation term on the grid-side voltage, a modular positive and negative sequence impedance modeling method is proposed, which simplifies the secondary modeling process of the converter under feedback control. Then, the stability analysis is conducted using the Nyquist criterion, revealing the mechanism of high-frequency resonance in photovoltaic grid-connected systems. Furthermore, this paper delves into the impact of changes in system parameters on impedance characteristics and system stability. The results indicate that the proportional coefficient of the internal loop current controller has a significant influence on system impedance characteristics. Additionally, this paper proposes an active damping design method that combines lead correction and capacitor current feedback to impedance-reconstruct the easily oscillating frequency band. Finally, the effectiveness of this method is verified in the simulation platform. This paper presents a novel topology for Z-source inverters (ZSI). The new Z-Source network is based on the coupled-inductors and active switched boost. Features of the topology include high voltage boost ability, single magnetic-core, low voltage stress on the active switch, and capacitors. The principles of operation, analysis, voltage and current equations of each component, and the converter voltage gain in the steady-state are presented. A comparison with other topologies has also been performed to determine the advantages and disadvantages of the proposed ZSI. The present paper is concerned with a magnetorheological (MR)-damper-based vibration-reduction system with energy harvesting capability considering sprung mass changes. The system represents a mechanical harmonic oscillator with electrical coupling, set in motion by kinematic excitation. The authors examine the system performance in the case when the MR damper control coil (damper control coil) is powered directly by the alternating current resulting from the voltage generated in an electromagnetic harvester in the assumed frequency range of sine excitation. Such a system is able to attenuate vibration in the near-resonance frequency range when the current in the damper control coil increases; however, its drawback is vibration amplification at higher frequencies. To eliminate this negative feature, it is proposed to connect shunt capacitors in parallel with the damper control coil. Then, the system can be tested experimentally in terms of current in the damper control coil, sprung mass, and the capacity of shunt capacitors in order to evaluate system performance according to the assumed performance index. This paper presents a high-resolution 18-bit SAR ADC with a high 10-bit capacitor DAC and a low 8-bit resistor DAC. The total required number of the unit capacitors is decreased to 512. Foreground digital calibration based on capacitive recombination is introduced to improve linearity. Preamplifiers and output offset storage(OOS) enhance the noise and offset performance of the comparator. As a result, the design under 180 nm process achieves a signal-to-noise and distortion ratio(SNDR) of 105.5dB and a spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) of 116.3dB under 1 MS/s sampling rate with a single channel. The effective number of bits (ENOB) can reach 17.23 bits with a Nyquist-rate input while consuming 46 mW from a 5 V supply. The resultant Schreier and Walden figures of merit (FoM) are 178.92 dB and 295.34 fJ/conversion-step, respectively. The proposed SAR ADC occupies an actual area of 3850 μ m by 2810 μ m. Capacitors are crucial components in power electronic converters, responsible for harmonic elimination, energy buffering, and voltage stabilization. However, they are also the most susceptible to damage due to their operational environment. Accurate temperature estimation of capacitors is essential for monitoring their condition and ensuring the reliability of the converter system. This paper presents a novel method for estimating the core temperature of capacitors using a long short-term memory (LSTM) algorithm. The approach incorporates a continued training mechanism to adapt to variable load conditions in converters. Experimental results demonstrate the proposed method's high accuracy and robustness, making it suitable for real-time capacitor temperature monitoring in practical applications. Conventional 5-level active neutral-point-clamped (5L-ANPC) topology and state-of-the-art 5-level hybrid active neutral-point-clamped (5L-HANPC) topology are popular for inverter applications. However, their dc-link voltage utilization is limited to only 50%. With the maximum voltage level generated by only half dc-link voltage, these inverters are not capable of boosting voltage in their ac output. To resolve these drawbacks, this paper proposes a family of four novel 5-level boost-active neutral-point-clamped (5L-BANPC) inverters. Without requiring any flying capacitors, the proposed topologies can generate five voltage levels by effectively using the dc-link capacitors. The dc-link voltage utilization of the proposed 5L-BANPC inverters is twice that of the 5L-ANPC and 5L-HANPC topologies. While generating the five-level ac output voltage, natural voltage balancing of both dc-link capacitors and voltage boosting are achieved. Ease of implementation is another noteworthy merit of the proposed 5L-BANPC inverters because they can be implemented using six widely available commercial half-bridge modules without requiring a dedicated circuit design. This article presents a novel 3-Φ inverter that operates from a single direct current source and is based on the idea of switched-capacitor (SC) techniques. Each phase leg of the proposed topology (PT) consists of eight switches, two capacitors, and a diode. This configuration enables the generation of seven levels (line-to-line) voltage waveforms. The proposed design has several advantages, such as the capacitors' natural balancing, the ability to boost, minimum voltage stresses on the power switches, and fewer switching components. When compared to the conventional two-stage design, single-stage dc–ac power converters with boost capabilities present an intriguing option. This paper introduces a novel boost-type inverter for use in a wide variety of applications, including rolling mills, fans, pumps, maritime appliances, mining, tractions, and more. The study explains the proposed design, principle, control mechanism, and loss analysis in great depth. The advantages of the PT have been demonstrated through comparison with recently published SC topologies. A newly designed third-order mixed-mode orthogonally tuned quadrature oscillator, generating sinusoidal voltage and current waveforms, is introduced in this paper. The reported circuit is realized using two dual-X current conveyor transconductance amplifiers (DXCCTAs), two active MOS-based grounded resistors and three grounded capacitors. MOS-C realization of the proposed oscillator with all grounded capacitors is the best choice for modern integration. In this study, the ideal and non-ideal analyses and frequency stability aspect of the circuit are elucidated. The proposed third-order oscillator circuit has the advantages of orthogonally controllable frequency of oscillation & condition of oscillation, very good operating frequency (34.25 MHz) and low total harmonic distortion (within 1.8%). The theoretical analyses have been validated by both pre-layout and post-layout simulations using general process design kit 0.18 μ m technology and the results have been compared with relevant state-of-the-art works. The capacitor voltage unbalancing is the common problem in modular multilevel converter. This problem occurs even at the fundamental frequency due to the modulation technique which generates the unequal periods of the gate signals. To reduce this problem, this paper introduced a new submodule (SM)-based modular multilevel converter (MMC). The proposed MMC can generate the 2N + 1 level at the load side. By properly controlling the arm current of the converter, DC capacitor voltage in each submodule is balanced at its base voltage and improves the circulating current during unequal periods of the gate signals without using controller. This paper presents the performance of new submodule-based modular multilevel converter. Finally, the proposed converter is compared with the conventional modular multilevel converter topologies with and without third harmonic injection method. Further the proposed structure and presented techniques have been simulated in the MATLAB/SIMULINK, and the practical implementation has been done using hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test. In this paper, a portable low-power low dropout regulator (LDO) with no output capacitance has been designed in 0.18- μ m CMOS technology. In this paper, a PMOS power transistor is used and combined with an overshoot and undershoot suppression circuit to improve the transient response of the circuit. A modified Class-AB operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) is used to reduce power consumption and act as an error amplifier to eliminate low frequency poles. At the same time, a super source follower and a Miller capacitor are used for frequency compensation of the system. Finally, the system can provide a stable voltage for a load step from 0.2 to 25 mA in 500 ns edge-time for 140 pF-load capacitance. A capacitance multiplier is an active circuit designed specifically to increase the capacitance of a passive capacitor to a significantly higher capacitance level. In this paper, the use of a voltage differencing differential difference amplifier (VDDDA), an electronically controllable active device for designing grounded and floating capacitance multipliers, is proposed. The capacitance multipliers proposed in this study are extremely simple and consist of a VDDDA, a resistor, and a capacitor. The multiplication factor ( K c ) can be electronically controlled by adjusting the external bias current ( I B ). It offers an easy way of controlling it by utilizing a microcontroller for modern analog signal processing systems. The multiplication factor has the potential to be adjusted to a value that is either less than or greater than one, hence widening the variety of uses. The grounded capacitance multiplier can be easily transformed into a floating one by utilizing Zc-VDDDA. PSpice simulation and experimentation with a VDDDA realized from commercially available integrated circuits were used to test the performance of the proposed capacitance multipliers. The multiplication factor is electronically adjustable, ranging in approximation from 0.56 to 13.94. The operating frequency range is approximately three frequency decades. The realization of the lagging and leading phase shifters using the proposed capacitance multiplier is also examined and proven. Materials offering high energy density are currently desired to meet the increasing demand for energy storage applications, such as pulsed power devices, electric vehicles, high-frequency inverters, and so on. Particularly, ceramic-based dielectric materials have received significant attention for energy storage capacitor applications due to their outstanding properties of high power density, fast charge–discharge capabilities, and excellent temperature stability relative to batteries, electrochemical capacitors, and dielectric polymers. In this paper, we present fundamental concepts for energy storage in dielectrics, key parameters, and influence factors to enhance the energy storage performance, and we also summarize the recent progress of dielectrics, such as bulk ceramics (linear dielectrics, ferroelectrics, relaxor ferroelectrics, and anti-ferroelectrics), ceramic films, and multilayer ceramic capacitors. In addition, various strategies, such as chemical modification, grain refinement/microstructure, defect engineering, phase, local structure, domain evolution, layer thickness, stability, and electrical homogeneity, are focused on the structure–property relationship on the multiscale, which has been thoroughly addressed. Moreover, this review addresses the challenges and opportunities for future dielectric materials in energy storage capacitor applications. Overall, this review provides readers with a deeper understanding of the chemical composition, physical properties, and energy storage performance in this field of energy storage ceramic materials. The health management of railway signal equipment in the high-speed railway is a key link between intelligent operation and maintenance. Accurately predicting the health state of compensation capacitors is of great significance to ensure the reliable work of track circuits. This paper proposes an improved deep neural network algorithm focusing on the problem of long-term accurate health forecasts for compensation capacitors. First, establishing a transmission state model for degradation mechanism mining, the difference function that can quantitatively evaluate features is defined by piecewise processing cab signaling receiving voltage. Introducing the degradation model, predictive driving under both model and data is implemented. Then, the convolutional neural networks and bidirectional long–short-term memory are combined and improved to construct a novel artificial intelligence combination strategy, while parameters are optimized based on the sparrow search algorithm. Finally, facing the conditional repair of compensation capacitors, we set a reasonable threshold for the occurrence of hidden dangers to complete fault warning. This novel and practical approach effectively explores the procedure of prognosis and health management, while the refined maintenance will better utilize current monitoring information, helping the intelligence and accuracy of safety control decision-making. [Display omitted] Lithium ion capacitors (LICs) are a new generation of energy storage devices that combine the super energy storage capability of lithium ion batteries with the satisfactory power density of supercapacitors. The development of high-performance LICs still faces great challenges due to the unbalanced reaction kinetics at the anode and cathode. Therefore, it is an inevitable need to enhance the electron/ion transfer capability of the anode materials. In this paper, to obtain a superior-rate and high-capacity Ni 3 S 2 -based anode, highly conductive Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene sheets were introduced to sever as the carrier of Ni 3 S 2 nanoparticles and simultaneously an amorphous carbon layer which coats onto the surface of Ni 3 S 2 nanoparticles was in-situ generated by the carbonization of dopamine reactant. The as-synthesized Ni 3 S 2 /Ti 3 C 2 T x /C composite exhibits a high specific surface area (112.6 m2/g) because of the addition of Ti 3 C 2 T x that can reduce the aggregation of Ni 3 S 2 nanoparticles and the in-situ generated amorphous carbon layer that can suppress the growth of Ni 3 S 2 nanoparticles. The Ni 3 S 2 /Ti 3 C 2 T x /C anode possesses a remarkable reversible discharge specific capacity (626.0 mAh/g under 0.2 A/g current density), which increases to 1150.8 mAh/g after 400-cycle charge/discharge measurement at the same measurement condition indicating eminent cyclability, along with superior rate capability. To construct a superior-performance LIC device, a sterculiae lychnophorae derived porous carbon (SLPC) cathode with an average discharge specific capacity of 73.4 mAh/g@0.1A/g was prepared. The Ni 3 S 2 /Ti 3 C 2 T x /C//SLPC LIC device with optimal cathode/anode mass ratio has a satisfactory energy density ranging from 32.8 to 119.1 Wh kg−1 at the corresponding power density of 8799.4 to 157.5 W kg−1, together with a prominent capacity retention (95.5 %@1 A/g after 10,000 cycles). The modular multilevel converter (MMC) is a research hotspot in medium-voltage and high-voltage applications. The measurement offset error would cause an increase in the monitoring error of the submodule (SM) capacitance of the MMC, affecting the estimation accuracy of the SM capacitance monitoring. This paper proposes a capacitor monitoring strategy based on the offset error compensation, where two reasonable capacitor monitoring periods are selected in one fundamental period under the proposed voltage-balancing control (VBC) based on the virtual capacitor voltage (VCV) to compensate for the offset error impact on the capacitance monitoring. The proposed strategy can effectively eliminate the offset error impact on the capacitance monitoring, which ensures the accuracy of the SM capacitance monitoring in the MMCs. This paper presents a low-distortion and low-power multi-stage noise-shaping (MASH) architecture Sigma-Delta (Σ Δ) modulator with double-sampling. The modulator uses a cascade of integrator feed-forward (CIFF) structure as a cascaded modulator in a MASH architecture. Since the CIFF structure provides a feedforward path from the input signal to the quantizer, the input signal is directly transmitted to the output without loop processing, relaxing the linearity requirement of the modulator, reducing performance requirements for the OTA and harmonic distortion. Double-sampling technique is adopted in the first integrator to double the sampling rate, improving the accuracy of the modulator without the increase of power consumption. In order to eliminate the influence of capacitor mismatch in the sampling network, a fully floating differential switched capacitor (SC) feedback digital-to-analog (DAC) is used in the integrator. The simulation results show that the Σ Δ modulator achieves 113 dB signal-to-noise and distortion ratio (SNDR) and the power consumption is 3.15 mW from a 5 V power supply. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Due to the unique properties of room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs), most researchers' interest in RTIL-based electrolytes in electric double-layer capacitors (EDLCs) stems from molecular simulations, which are different from experimental scientific research fields. The knowledge of RTIL-based electrolytes in EDLCs began with a supposition obtained from the results of molecular simulations of molten salts. Furthermore, experiments and simulations were promoted and developed rapidly on this topic. In some instances, the achievements of molecular simulations are ahead of even those obtained from experiments in quantity and quality. Molecular simulations offer more information on the impacts of overscreening, quasicrowding, crowding, and underscreening for RTIL-based electrolytes than experimental studies, which can be helpful in understanding the mechanisms of EDLCs. With the advancement of experimental technology, these effects have been verified by experiments. The simulation prediction of the capacitance curve was in good agreement with the experiment for pure RTILs. For complex systems, such as RTIL–solvent mixtures and RTIL mixture systems, both molecular simulations and experiments have reported that the change in capacitance curves is not monotonous with RTIL concentrations. In addition, there are some phenomena that are difficult to explain in experiments and can be well explained through molecular simulations. Finally, experiments and molecular simulations have maintained synchronous developments in recent years, and this paper discusses their relationship and reflects on their application. In power engineering, the importance of maintaining a high power factor in low-voltage electrical installations is known. In power substations for industry, the usual method of coupling is to use an automatic power factor controller which connects capacitors banks (with electromagnetic contactors). Sometimes, AC reactors are connected to the phases of the capacitors banks (to reduce transient phenomena and the deforming regime), depending on the desired value of the power factor. This paper presents an analysis (more focused on experimentation) of a low-cost system for automatic regulation of the power factor with a reduction in transients and an increase in the life of contactors (eliminating the electric arc during switching on), with capacitors banks for low-voltage three-phase installations that connect the capacitors banks by means of one three-phase solid-state relay (an expensive device for a quality device; one is used for all capacitors banks) and using several electromagnetic contactors. The automatic power factor adjustment system has a controller with a microprocessor with six outputs, controlled by the phase shift between the current (measured with a current transformer proportional to the current in a bar) and the phase voltage, which is part of a system of distribution bars (L1,2,3, N) from which electrical consumers (e.g., induction motors) are supplied. To reduce transients when connecting capacitors banks, a three-phase solid-state relay and two related electromagnetic contactors are used for each capacitors bank. The automatic power factor controller is connected to two low-capacity PLCs that control the logic of connecting the capacitors banks to reduce transients. By using the proposed regulation system, a cheaper control solution is obtained compared to the use of one solid-state relay for each capacitors banks, under the conditions in which the power factor adjustment is made as in the classic solution. Today, multilevel inverters are widely utilized in various applications. Reducing the number of components in the design of these converters is one of the crucial goals so that they have less volume and cost. This paper presents a single‐source structure for a multilevel switched‐capacitor inverter with voltage boost capability. The proposed structure can generate 25 sinusoidal‐like step voltage levels with a six times amplitude increase compared to the input. This converter uses only one direct current (DC) power source, 14 switches, and four capacitors. The nearest level control switching method has been used to control the converter, create voltage levels, and select the switching modes. A comprehensive comparison has been made with other recently presented structures to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed structure. The advantages of the proposed structure include using only one DC voltage source, the ability to increase the output voltage six times compared to the input, the use of fewer power electronics components compared to the number of voltage levels, proper efficiency, self‐balancing of capacitors, and as a result, the lower cost. In this paper, it is proposed that a two-terminal high voltage direct current (HVDC) be integrated into the power system. Line-commutated converter (LCC)-HVDC is used because of its ability to reduce line losses, which improves overall system efficiency. Shunt capacitors also aid in voltage maintenance by compensating for the reactive power demand. In essence, limiting voltage drops in electrical networks promotes a more efficient power transmission and distribution by lowering resistive losses. In power system investigations, it was discovered that the HVDC link and SCB exist separately. So, for the first time, the backtracking search algorithm (BSA) is used to solve the optimal reactive power flow (ORPF) of a power system with a HVDC link and shunt capacitor banks (SCB). Although BSA simulations on a modified IEEE 30 bus yielded successful results, ABC was also utilized for comparing the outcomes of different methods. Overall, three separate cases of the modified IEEE 30 bus system were examined. First-order allpass filters are analog filters with a unit magnitude response, but they change the phase shift between input and output signals at various frequencies. This paper presents the transadmittance-mode first-order allpass filters based on the modified current-controlled current differencing transconductance amplifier (M-CCCDTA). The proposed filters utilize a single M-CCCDTA and a grounded capacitor with no external resistors, making them well suited for implementation in an integrated circuit. The gain and phase response of the proposed filters can be adjusted electronically and separately. Also, the high output impedance of the proposed filters at both the input voltage node and the output current node makes cascading easy without the need for buffer devices. A quadrature sinusoidal oscillator based on the proposed first-order allpass filter has been designed as an example of an application. The PSpice simulation and actual experiments are utilized to validate the functionality of the proposed filters. The simulation and experimental results are consistent with the idea of anticipation. This paper proposes an algorithm for determining the optimal capacitance by utilizing a mathematical model of a submodule (SM) capacitor in a modular multilevel converter (MMC) specifically for medium voltage motor drives (MVDs). By approximating the voltage fluctuation of the SM capacitor during low-frequency operation, it is feasible to ascertain the minimum capacitance required for the SM capacitor, ensuring that its voltage fluctuations remain within an acceptable limit that is predefined as a specified value. Moreover, the study considered the injection of both a high-frequency common-mode voltage (CMV) and a circulating current to alleviate the SM voltage fluctuation during the acceleration of motor drives. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated through verification using time-domain simulation results obtained using the MATLAB/SIMULINK software and real-time simulation results acquired using the OPAL-RT simulator platform. For decentralized electrification in remote areas, small-sized wind energy systems (WESs) are considered sustainable and affordable solution when employing an efficient, small-sized component converter integrated with a less-sophisticated, cost-effective MPPT controller. Unfortunately, using a conventional buck DC/DC converter as a MPP tracker suffer from input current discontinuity. The latter results in high ripples in the tracked rectified wind power which reduces the captured power and affects system operation especially in standalone applications which are self-sufficient and independent of grid support. Furthermore, these ripples propagate to the machine side causing vibration and torque stress which impacts turbine performance and safety. To solve this issue, a large electrolytic capacitor is placed at the buck converter input to buffer these ripples, yet at the cost of larger size, losses and reduced reliability. Oppositely, the developed C1, D4 and D6 buck converters have the merit of continuous input current at small component-size. In this paper, dynamic modelling of these three converters is developed to select the one with the least input current ripples to replace the traditional buck converter in the considered WES system. Consequently, fluctuations in the tracked power are minimized and the large buffer capacitor is eliminated. This enhances system lifetime, reduces its cost and increases tracking efficiency. Moreover, mechanical power and torque fluctuations are minimized, thus maintaining machine protection. Furthermore, a sensorless MPPT algorithm, based on converter averaged state-space model, is proposed. Being dependent on variable-step P&O algorithm, the proposed approach features simple structure, ease of control and a compromise between tracking time and accuracy besides reduced cost due to the eliminated current sensor. Simulation results verified the effectiveness of the selected converter applying the proposed MPPT approach to efficiently track the wind power under wind variations with cost-effective realization. This paper presents the design and application of a boost converter operated in continuous conduction mode for 15 W, with a 25 kHz switching frequency using an inductor-capacitor-inductor (LCL), pi, inductor capacitor (LC) with damping, and LC electromagnetic interference filters. Also, modeling and analysis of the boost converter in terms of state space and small signal are given. Furthermore, the effect of each filter on differential mode (DM) noise and control characteristics is presented using root locus and bode diagrams, which are not detailed in the literature for the boost converter. All results obtained from applications and simulations are compared. Moreover, frequency spectrums are given to compare DM noises. As a result, from a control point of view, the LCL filter provides better results, and for reducing DM noise, the LC and pi filters are superior to others. Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) have been noticed by researchers due to their high efficiency, low pollution, and high‐power density in distributed generation systems. In this paper, an LCL‐type grid‐tied PEMFC fuel cell power conditioning system is evaluated in a harmonics‐polluted low‐voltage grid. The LCL‐filters can lead to resonance and instability despite their capability to attenuate harmonics. In this research, a transformer has been used to connect the fuel cell inverter to the grid. The grid‐side inductor of LCL‐filter is realized by the leakage inductance of the transformer. In addition, for more effective resonance damping and attenuation of current ripples caused by the grid voltage harmonics, a capacitor voltage comprehensive feedback control has been designed and investigated. The comprehensive feedback control of the capacitor voltage contains proportional, first and second‐order derivative terms. In the proposed control scheme, the capacitor‐current‐feedback is opposed by the capacitor voltage derivative term due to reverse loop gain, which leads to deleting both of these loop gains. As a result, there is no need to utilize a current sensor in this control method. Consequently, the proportional and second‐order derivative terms of the capacitor voltage attenuate the LCL‐filter resonance. A low‐pass filter is also considered in the second‐order derivative loop in the controllable frequency range to ensure system stability. The simulation results of the PEMFC power conditioning system in different conditions confirm the proper attenuation of LCL resonance of grid‐tied inverter, high‐quality current injection to the harmonics polluted grid, the suitable stability, and the appropriate dynamic response for the proposed system. Under the proposed control scheme, the fuel cell power conditioning system demonstrates satisfactory stability. Even when reducing the LCL filter values by 5%–20%, the system maintains its stability effectively. Moreover, the THD of the injected current into the grid, employing the proposed control strategy, has been successfully reduced to an impressive value of 1.97% in a weak and harmonical grid. This paper investigates the current sink capacitor technique as a method to minimize the turn-off power losses of SiC MOSFETs operated with zero-voltage switching (ZVS). The method is simple and is based on adding auxiliary capacitors in parallel to the transistors, allowing the sink capacitor to take over part of the channel current, thus limiting the power loss while also advantageously lowering the d v d s / d t ratio. The technique is validated and experimentally studied based on a single-pulse test setup with 1200 V-rated SiC MOSFETs, with several capacitances and gate resistance values, at various switched currents up to roughly 60 A. It is shown that by employing even very small capacitances, in the range of nanofarads, the turn-off power loss can be reduced by over tenfold, with a negligible impact on the volume and complexity of the system. Chain-scaling fractional-order memristors (fracmemristors) refers to the concept of implementing them in circuits. Despite its advantages, a few issues that require urgent attention remain, including the effect of input signals on its instantaneous valid frequency range, failure to find the corresponding time-domain electrical characteristic expression of the fracmemristor, and the use of several memristor emulators in circuit schematics. Accordingly, a simple circuit for implementing a chain-scaling fracmemristor (CSF) within a fixed valid frequency range is proposed in this paper. First, a CSF circuit configuration with a fixed valid frequency range is described. Subsequently, a simple circuit schematic of an incremental/decremental CSF is presented, and the corresponding time-domain electrical characteristic expressions of the fracmemristor are obtained. Finally, rich theoretical analysis results are obtained along with the CSF circuit implementation. The accuracy of the theoretical analysis is verified experimentally. In this study, we developed a method to achieve a CSF with a fixed valid frequency range through the replacement of all the capacitors with memcapacitors, which also facilitated the design of circuit schematics. In this paper, a switched capacitor-based high-gain boost converter is designed that may be used for high-voltage applications. The suggested topology uses two capacitors that get connected in series or parallel for charging and discharging with the help of switches. The primary function of switches is to switch between three duty ratios that describe the converter’s benefit in achieving high voltage gain without employing an individual high-duty ratio. The examination of steady-state characteristics and voltage gain using three alternative duty ratios is described. An ADRC-based controller has been designed for the proposed circuit that is able to regulate the output in the presence of various types of disturbances. • The faulty operation of MMC with hot-reserved SMs is analyzed. • NLM corrector based fault-tolerant strategy for high-voltage MMC is proposed. • The strategy features simplicity, low voltage stress and little influence scope. The reliable and consistent operations of modular multilevel converters (MMCs) under fault conditions are crucial for high-voltage and high-power applications. To strengthen the performances of MMCs under submodule (SM) faults, a fault- tolerant strategy based on the nearest level modulation (NLM) is proposed in this paper. According to the changed AC component in the faulty arm voltage, this method adds a corrector in NLM, which remedies the faulty arm voltage by adjusting the number of inserted SMs for the faulty arm. Then, the faulty operation can be recovered to the normal. The corrector is simple to realize and can effectively suppress the odd-order circulating currents. Under the proposed method, only the ripples of the capacitor voltages in the faulty arm rise. The average voltage stress on each capacitor is the same as that in normal operation since the rated capacitor voltage in the faulty arm has no rise. No measure and influence impose on healthy arms. With features of simplicity, low voltage stress and little influence scope, the proposed strategy is fit for high-voltage MMCs. Delta-configured Cascaded H-Bridge (DCHB) topology is a suitable alternative for Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) applications. However, under unbalanced voltage and/or current conditions, zero-sequence current needs to be injected to guarantee dc-link capacitor voltage balancing. The control loop of this zero-sequence current is analyzed in this paper, in order to determine the requirements that the implemented controller must fulfill. Considering these requirements, appropriate transient response and stability margin indicators are defined to quantify and evaluate the performance of different controllers that could be employed —Proportional-Resonant controller (PR), PR controller with delay compensation (PR d), and Vector Proportional-Integral controller (VPI) are proposed and analyzed for this application in this paper. Based on the defined indicators, the VPI is the most appropriate among the studied control techniques. Increasing the surface area of active materials is a crucial approach to enhance the capacity of supercapacitors. In this study, we present an interdigitated supercapacitor featuring a double-layer active material prepared using a sacrificial layer method. The replacement of the insulating substrate with a gel electrolyte facilitates ion motion between the active electrodes. Finite element analysis (FEA) and electrochemical experiments confirm that the utilization of double-layer active material can significantly improve the capacity (1.5–1.85 times higher than traditional structures). The electrochemical performance of the three active materials has been significantly improved after using the double-layer active material structure, which proves that the method in this paper has strong material compatibility. Furthermore, an interdigital supercapacitor (ISC) is fabricated using electrodes with double-layer active material through the sacrificial layer method and its electrochemical performance is evaluated. At a scan rate of 10 mV·s-1, ISC exhibits an impressive area-specific capacitance as high as 68.4 mF·cm-2. Remarkably, ISC can maintain stable power output even under extreme deformation and fatigue testing conditions. This paper presents two different topologies of grounded incremental/decremental meminductor emulators. These emulator circuits are designed using two current conveyors, one operational transconductance amplifier, two grounded capacitors, and one or two resistors. The proposed configurations are very simple and have been designed with active blocks whose ICs are directly available in the market. The pinched hysteresis loop which is an essential feature of meminductors, has been obtained for a frequency range up to 300 kHz. The transient and non-volatility behaviours indicate their satisfactory performance. Simulations of the proposed circuits have been carried out with the help of LTspice tool using 180 nm CMOS technology parameters. Non-ideal and precision analyses have been carried out for the proposed emulators to justify their proper functioning in the practical environment. The experimental setup of the suggested emulators using commercially available ICs has also been demonstrated. Lithium-ion capacitors (LICs), which combine great power and energy density, have become promising energy storage and have been well studied recently. Developing novel battery-type anode materials is the key to mitigating the kinetic mismatch between the anode and cathode electrodes. In this paper, niobium diboride (NbB 2) nanoparticles are synthesized via a salt-templated method and proposed for the first time as the anodes for LICs. NbB 2 is a layered two-dimensional material similar to graphite, which is favorable to the intercalation and deintercalation of Li+. The NbB 2 with high conductivity delivers outstanding long cycling stability (254.1 mAh g−1 after 800 cycles at 0.1 A g−1) and great rate capability. Moreover, a high-performance LIC is assembled employing the prepared NbB 2 as anode and commercialized activated carbon (AC) as cathode, which can display an energy density of 68.76 Wh kg−1, a power density of 7.02 kW kg−1, and a capacity retention ratio of 98% after 10,000 cycles. The work presents the great potential of transition metal borides as electrode materials and accelerates the development of LICs. The line shunts are usually ignored by various linear power flow (PF) models in power distribution system analysis, planning and optimization. However, "charging effects" from line shunts of underground/submarine power cables would cause non-negligible model errors for these commonly used PF models. In this paper, we propose a modified Linear Distflow model (LinDist) with line shunts, i.e., LinDistS. We also further propose its extensions considering the ZIP load, weakly-meshed topology and unbalanced three-phase systems. Moreover, the linearization error of voltage component is theoretically analyzed. Case studies show that compared with other models, the proposed LinDistS achieves the descent calculation accuracy and efficiency. We also show the application scope of LinDistS by a Volt/VAr control (VVC) framework with distributed generators, mainly photovoltaic (PV), and the non-negligible "charging effect". Simulation exhibits that with LinDistS, the VVC can optimally dispatch the shunt capacitors and also optimize the real-time reactive power output of PV. Proportional current sharing, voltage restoration, and SOCs balancing after ensuring system stability are the leading vital challenges of DC microgrid control algorithms. These aims obtain easily if the control method is implemented based on the communication links and a central controller. However, microgrids under such a control system will encounter many drawbacks. Besides, they are inadequate for geographically dispersed microgrids. Motivated by the above-mentioned, this paper proposes a novel communication-less control method that rectifies the main DC microgrid challenges. In this method, a capacitor and a DC/DC converter are responsible for stabilizing the system and restoring the DC bus voltage. During voltage recovery, the capacitor injects an AC signal into the DC bus. The frequency of the AC signal is set according to the capacitor voltage. All energy storage units set their current based on the frequency and their SOC such that the SOCs are balanced in case of SOCs disparity, and the current is shared properly after they have converged. The droop control is also included in the primary layer of the units to ensure system stability in the case of capacitor failure. The stability analysis proves that the proposed method profits from stability while considering the limitations of the units. As the proposed method does not rely on communication links, it is applicable to widespread microgrids. Li-ion capacitors are very enticing power sources having high energy and power density as they exemplify the benefits of both Lithium-ion battery (LIB) and supercapacitors (SCs) together. However, the high performance of LIC is limited due to low specific capacity and slow reaction kinetics of electrodes. Herein, pseudo-capacitive titanium niobium oxide (TiNb 6 O 17 : TNO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) composite material was fabricated and investigated as a unique anode material for LIC. The application of TNO-rGO composite electrode (R-TNO) as insertion anode material in LIC has been investigated due to its excellent electrochemical performance, intrinsic fast pseudo-capacitive behavior along with good reversibility and cyclability. A novel LIC was fabricated using R-TNO electrode as an innovative insertion type anode and activated carbon (AC) as cathode for the first time. Compared to conventional method (with binder), here the electrodes are prepared using binder-free and current-collector tape casting method to further enhance the energy and power density. As a result, the flexible and free-standing electrodes were acquired and used as anode for flexible LIC application. Comprehensive electrochemical analysis elucidates the improved storage behavior of composite electrode with rapid reaction kinetics, high reversibility and excellent cyclic stability. Novel R-TNO/AC LIC exhibited maximum energy density of 142.10 Wh/kg and power density of 18.75 kW/kg. The LIC device illustrated 88% cyclic stability even after 10,000 cycles, confirming its good electrochemical stability during electrochemical process. The extraordinary performance of LIC device is ascribed to collective effect of pseudo-capacitive behavior of TiNb 6 O 17 particles and the buffering effect provided by rGO sheets. This paper proposes a novel placement technique based on the improved golden jackal optimization (IGJO) algorithm for multiple capacitor banks (CBs) and multi-type DGs in a distribution network considering single and multi-objective problems. The proposed algorithm incorporates memory-based equations and random walk strategy to enhance the performance of the recent golden jackal optimization in terms of accuracy and convergence speed. The optimization problem is formulated as a weighted multi-objective that seeks to enhance the voltage profiles, boost stability, and minimize the total active power loss. An index named reactive loss sensitivity (QLSI) is also employed with the developed IGJO to identify the candidate nodes for the DGs and CBs installation to reduce the search space of the optimization algorithm. The robustness of the developed IGJO algorithm is evaluated through the CEC 2020 benchmark functions, and a comparison study is conducted with the original GJO and the other nine fresh competitors using various statistical tests to confirm its dominance and superiority. Then, the proposed IGJO is implemented in single and multi-objectives for the optimal deployment of multiple CBs individually and simultaneously with multiple DGs with different operating modes to enhance the performance of the IEEE 69-bus radial distribution system (RDS). The fetched outcomes are compared with the original GJO, weevil optimizer algorithm (WeevilOA), skill optimization algorithm (SOA), and Tasmanian devil optimization (TDO) to further measure its efficacy using different statistical tests. The IGJO algorithm is also applied to deploy multiple DGs for the IEEE 118-bus RDS with the aim of minimizing active loss. The simulation findings affirmed that the proposed IGJO technique beats the other rivals in all investigated situations, qualifying for the optimal inclusion of DGs in the presence of generation and demand uncertainties. Specifically, the integration of three units of CBs synchronously with three DGs Type-I and DG Type-III reduces the active power loss to 4.2664 kW and 3.4178 kW, respectively. • The operating conditions of modular multilevel converter with maximum submodule voltage ripple are derived and found out. • A novel design of circulating current injection is proposed, in which the boundary of operating conditions is considered. • The proposed design method can achieve the minimized submodule capacitance and decreased conducting loss of the converter. • The optimization process and controller structure for the design method are presented. For the modular multilevel converter, the submodule capacitor constitutes a considerable proportion in the footprint size and weight of the whole converter. In order to achieve the light design of the converter, the requirement of submodule capacitance should be minimized. It is widely acknowledged that the sizing of submodule capacitance can be reduced by the appropriate circulating current injection, which however leads to the increase of conducting loss. In order to improve the overall operating efficiency of the system, this paper addresses the issue of multi-objective design of circulating current injection in modular multilevel converter. Firstly, considering that the submodule capacitance is sized according to the maximum capacitor voltage ripple, the operating conditions of modular multilevel converter with maximum capacitor voltage ripple are found out. Then, a novel design of circulating current injection considering the operating conditions of the converter is proposed. Under the operating condition with significant capacitor voltage ripple, the circulating current injection is designed to minimize the capacitor voltage ripple to reduce the sizing of submodule capacitance. As for the rest operating conditions, the proposed design expects to minimize the magnitude of circulating current injection to reduce the converter conducting loss. Finally, case studies of the modular multilevel converter based offshore wind power transmission system are built on PSCAD/EMTDC to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method. It can be concluded that a reasonable setting of boundary of operating conditions is essential to achieve the minimized sizing of submodule capacitance and decreased conducting loss simultaneously.
