Purpose: This study aims to examine the flow of unsteady mixed convective hybrid nanofluid over a rotating sphere with heat generation/absorption. The hybrid nanofluid contains different shapes of nanoparticles (copper [Cu] and aluminium oxide [Al2O3]) in the base fluid (water [H2O]). The influence of different shapes (sphere, brick, cylinder, platelets and blades) of nanoparticle in water-based hybrid nanofluid is also investigated. Design/methodology/approach: To analyse the nanomaterial, the flow model is established, and in doing so, the Prandtl's boundary layer theory is incorporated into the present model. The bvp4c approach, i.e. finite difference method, is used to find the numerical solution of differential equations that is controlling the fluid flow. The effect of relevant flow parameters on nanofluid temperature and velocity profile is demonstrated in detailed explanations using graphs and bar charts, whereas numerical results for Nusselt number and the skin's coefficient for various form parameters are presented in tabular form. Findings: The rate of heat transfer is least for spherical-shaped nanoparticle because of its smoothness, symmetricity and isotropic behaviour. The rate of heat transfer is highest for blade-shaped nanoparticles as compared to other shapes (brick, cylindrical and platelet) of nanoparticles because the blade-shaped nanoparticles causes comparatively more turbulence flow in the nanofluid than other shapes of nanoparticle. Heat generation affects the temperature distribution and, hence, the particle deposition rate. The absorption of heat extracts heat and reduce the temperature across the rotating sphere. The heat generation/absorption parameter plays an important role in establishing and maintaining the temperature around the rotating sphere. Research limitations/implications: The numerical study is valid with the exception of the fluctuation in density that results in the buoyancy force and the functional axisymmetric nanofluid transport has constant thermophysical characteristics. In addition, this investigation is also constrained by the assumptions that there is no viscosity dissipation, no surface slippage and no chemically activated species. The hybrid nanofluid Al2O3–Cu/H2O is an incompressible and diluted suspension. The single-phase hybrid nanofluid model is considered in which the relative velocity of water (H2O) and hybrid nanoparticles (Al2O3–Cu) is the same and they are in a state of thermal equilibrium. Practical implications: Study on convective flow across a revolving sphere has its applications found in electrolysis management, polymer deposition, medication transfer, cooling of spinning machinery segments, spin-stabilized missiles and other industrial and technical applications. Originality/value: The originality of the study is to investigate the effect of shape factor on the flow of electrically conducting hybrid nanofluid past a rotating sphere with heat generation/absorption and magnetic field. The results are validated and provide extremely positive balance with the recognised articles. The results of the study provide many appealing applications that merit further study of the problem. In this present paper, we obtain hyperbolic, exponential, trigonometric function, other soliton solutions, and their combinations for the cold bosonic atoms in a zig-zag optical lattice model based on two efficient methods, such as the generalized Riccati equation mapping (GREM) method and generalized Kudryashov (GK) method. The used techniques are very reliable and effective tools and provide numerous exact soliton solutions of the nonlinear PDE. The zig-zag optical lattice model, widely used to represent the nonlinear wave and the soliton dynamics in fluid dynamics and plasma physics, is examined in this article to obtain exact optical soliton solutions and study their physical properties. For this, we first convert a partial differential equation (PDE) into an ordinary differential equation (ODE) by employing wave transformation and then split the equation into imaginary and real parts. The derived optical soliton solutions are illustrated graphically using Mathematica software to distinguish constant parameter values. Consequently, bell-shape, anti-bell-shape, traveling wave, periodic, mix periodic, singular soliton, and some new types of solitons demonstrate to validate these acquired outcomes with physical phenomena and make the results worthy. Furthermore, the 3D, 2D, and contour graphs are sketched to assign suitable constant parameters to illustrate the physical phenomena of the obtained solutions. The accomplished soliton solutions indicate that the applied computational system is a direct, reliable, productive, and more complex physical phenomenon. Moges et al. (Inf. Sci. 625 (2023) 457–475) proposed a method to find a Pareto-optimal solution (POS) of intuitionistic fuzzy multi-objective linear fractional optimization problem (MOLFOP). In this method, firstly, an intuitionistic fuzzy MOLFOP is transformed into a crisp MOLFOP with the help of a ranking function. Then, using the existing method (Fuzzy Sets Syst. 125 (2002) 335–342), the transformed crisp MOLFOP is transformed into a crisp multi-objective linear optimization problem (MOLOP). Finally, it is assumed that to find a POS of the considered intuitionistic fuzzy MOLFOP is equivalent to find a POS of the transformed crisp MOLOP. It is pertinent to mention that this assumption is valid only if the transformed crisp MOLFOP is equivalent to the considered intuitionistic fuzzy MOLFOP as well as the transformed crisp MOLOP is equivalent to the transformed crisp MOLFOP. In this note, a numerical example is considered to show that the transformed crisp MOLFOP is not equivalent to the considered intuitionistic fuzzy MOLFOP. Also, on the basis of the existing results (Fuzzy Sets Syst. 246 (2014) 156–159), it is pointed out that the transformed crisp MOLOP is not equivalent to the transformed crisp MOLFOP. Therefore, Moges et al.'s method is not valid and hence, the results of agricultural planning problem of Ethopia for cultivation of different crops, obtained by Moges et al. with their proposed method, are not correct. In a sequence of independent indicator random variables, we consider the sum of maxima of k consecutive indicator random variables that represent a specific type of k -runs in the theory of runs and patterns. Intriguingly, it can be expressed as the sum of locally dependent random variables. Our focus is on employing Stein's method to provide a negative binomial approximation to the distribution of this specific random variable under certain conditions on moments. Ocimum tenuiflorum has been widely used in traditional medicine and has high medicinal value. High volume trade of this potential medicinal plant species led to unscrupulous adulteration of both crude drugs as well as formulations. Morphology- based authentication is difficult in cases of incomplete or damaged samples and in dried herbal materials. In such cases, PCR-based molecular methods may aid in accurate identification. The present study aimed at developing species-specific DNA marker(s) for the authentication of O. tenuiflorum. A species-specific amplicon (279 bp) generated through an inter-simple sequence repeat marker (UBC 835) in all individuals of O. tenuiflorum was cloned, sequenced, and a primer pair was developed (designated as CIM-OT- 835F/CIM-OT-835R). The newly developed sequence characterized amplified region marker was validated through PCR amplification in all available seven species of Ocimum, and its specificity for O. tenuiflorum was confirmed with the consistent generation of an amplicon of 177 bp. The developed marker can be used for accurate and rapid identification of the species for certification purposes and will be useful in quality control of medicinal preparations containing this important medicinal species. Wang and Chen (2008) stated and proved some results (Proposition 5.1, Proposition 5.2, Information Sciences, 178 (2008), 3759) and used these results to propose a method to construct fuzzy linguistic preference relation matrices. In this paper, it is pointed out that Wang and Chen have used some mathematical incorrect assumptions for proving these results. In this study, the transmissibility estimation of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been presented using the generalized fractional-order calculus (FOC) based extended Kalman filter (EKF) and wavelet transform (WT) methods. Initially, the state-space representation for the bats-hosts-reservoir-people (BHRP) model is obtained using a set of fractional order differential equations for the susceptible-exposed-infectious-recovered (SEIR) model. Afterward, the EKF and Kronecker product based WT methods have been applied to the discrete vector representation of the BHRP model. The main advantage of using EKF in this system is that it considers both the process and the measurement noise, which gives better accuracy and probable states, which are the Markovian (processes). The importance of proposed models lies in the fact that these models can accommodate conventional EKF and WT methods as their special cases. The aim of this note is to make the researchers aware that the method proposed by Gong et al. is valid only for certain specific types of dual fuzzy matrix equations. Aseismic ridges and oceanic plateaux, typically buried under thick post-rift sediments, are isolated entities of enigmatic crustal character. Limited availability of deep seismic soundings hinders their precise characterization. Here, we present new crustal images from the Comorin ridge and adjoining basins in the Central Indian Ocean. Further, we seismically characterize the oldest oceanic crust south of Sri Lanka. We observe that the NW–SE-trending Comorin ridge, having distinct topography, is bounded by crustal blocks of contrasting ages and characters. Using seismic interpretation and potential field modelling, we propose its genesis as a transverse ridge with an anomalously thick (c. 14 km) oceanic crust including considerable magmatic underplating. Additional constraints from plate reconstruction modelling suggest that a linear oceanic transform developed between India and Madagascar during their separation while the Marion hotspot remained in their close proximity. Based on several lines of evidence, we infer that shearing motion along the transform and coeval hotspot interactions are the likely emplacement mechanism for the ridge. The high-resolution seismic images demonstrate widespread crustal deformation in the form of high-angle faulting and long-wavelength folding. New findings have important implications for an improved understanding of the early Gondwana break-up, seafloor creation and subsequent compressional tectonics in the Indian Ocean. Aggregates of amyloid-β (Aβ) peptide are known to be the key pathological agents in Alzheimer disease (AD). Aβ aggregates to form large, insoluble fibrils that deposit as senile plaques in AD brains. The process of aggregation is nucleation–dependent in which the formation of a nucleus is the rate–limiting step, and controls the physiochemical fate of the aggregates formed. Therefore, understanding the properties of nucleus and pre-nucleation events will be significant in reducing the existing knowledge–gap in AD pathogenesis. In this report, we have determined the plausible range of critical nucleation number ( n * ), the number of monomers associated within the nucleus for a homogenous aggregation model with single unique nucleation event, by two independent methods: A reduced-order stability analysis and ordinary differential equation based numerical analysis, supported by experimental biophysics. The results establish that the most likely range of n * is between 7 and 14 and within, this range, n * = 12 closely supports the experimental data. These numbers are in agreement with those previously reported, and importantly, the report establishes a new modeling framework using two independent approaches towards a convergent solution in modeling complex aggregation reactions. Our model also suggests that the formation of large protofibrils is dependent on the nature of n * , further supporting the idea that pre-nucleation events are significant in controlling the fate of larger aggregates formed. • Lie symmetry analysis is performed on a (4+1)-dimensional Fokas equation. • Lie symmetries and one-dimensional optimal systems are derived for a higher-dimensional equation. • We obtain abundant exact invariant solutions through the four stages of Lie symmetry reductions. • We present a comparison of our results with other works. • In addition, we exhibit the dynamical structures of the soliton solutions through 3D illustrations. In this article, the Lie group of transformation method via one-dimensional optimal system is proposed to obtain some more exact solutions of the (4+1)-dimensional Fokas equation. Lie infinitesimal generators, possible vector fields, and their commutative and adjoint relations are presented by employing the Lie symmetry method. An optimal system of the one-dimensional subalgebras is also constructed using Lie vectors. Meanwhile, based on the optimal system, Lie symmetry reductions of the Fokas equation is obtained. A repeated process of Lie symmetry reductions, using the single, double, triple, quadruple, and quintuple combinations between the considered vectors, transforms the Fokas equation into nonlinear ordinary differential equations which produce abundant group-invariant solutions. The same problem was studied by Sadat et al. (Chaos Solitons Fractals 140:110134, 2020) using the same Lie symmetry technique via commutative product approach but with the less number of vector fields and therefore could obtain only three exact solutions as compared to the number of analytic solutions in this paper. In order to provide rich localized structures, some solutions are supplemented via numerical simulation, which produces some breather-type solitons, oscillating multi-solitons on the parabolic-shaped surface, fractal dromions, lump-type solitons, and annihilation of different parabolic multi-solitons profiles. The dynamical behaviors of excitation-localized structures are demonstrated graphically via 3D plots for suitable values of the arbitrary free parameters and independent arbitrary functions.
