This paper analyzes the abstracts from the 244th – 248th American Chemical Society national meetings, 2012–2014 for the Divisions of Biological Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. The main objective of the study was to identify the percentage of abstracts that were published as related papers and the time it took to do so. It also investigated likely factors that determined whether the abstracts will be published as papers. These factors included the number of author(s) per abstract, the number of institutions involved in the research, and the country of origin of the research. The paper also highlights the percentage of papers that were published before and after the conferences and the quality of the journals in which they were published. The citation characteristics of the articles published before and after the conference are also covered. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: The objective of this study is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the literature regarding CO2 reduction trends published in the Science Citation Index-listed periodicals from 1999 to 2009. These documents were obtained by subscription from the Information Science Institute (ISI) Web of Science, Philadelphia, PA, USA. A total of 3,177 authors from 56 different countries wrote 855 articles published in 355 journals in 102 subject categories. Of these, the most titles were found in Abstracts of Papers of the American Chemical Society (3.9%). The most frequently cited paper was “Chemical CO2 fixation: Cr(III) salen complexes as highly efficient catalysts for the coupling of CO2 and epoxides”, and the same paper contained the most often-used keyword. The British Library launched the Publisher Digitisation Service on January 3, 2007. Cambridge Information Group (CIG) closed its transaction with ProQuest Company and acquired ProQuest Information and Learning on February 9, 2007. Oxford Journals have announced the purchase of mathematics journals from Hindawi Publishing Corporation which include the "International Mathematics Research Notices," "International Mathematics Research Papers," "Applied Mathematics Research Express," and "International Mathematics Research Surveys."

This article provides ethical guidelines to publication of chemical research. The guidelines embodied in this document were revised by the editors of the Publications Division of the American Chemical Society in January 2000. The American Chemical Society serves the chemistry profession and society at large in many ways, among them by publishing journals that present the results of scientific and engineering research. Every editor of a Society journal has the responsibility to establish and maintain guidelines for selecting and accepting papers submitted to that journal. This document presents ethical obligations of editors of Scientific Journals and those of the authors.
