One of the most widely used measures of scientific impact is the number of citations. However, due to its heavy-tailed distribution, citations are fundamentally difficult to predict but can be improved. This study was aimed at investigating the factors and parts influencing the citation number of a scientific paper in the otology field. Therefore, this work proposes a new solution that utilizes machine learning and natural language processing to process English text and provides a paper citation as the predicted results. Different algorithms are implemented in this solution, such as linear regression, boosted decision tree, decision forest, and neural networks. The application of neural network regression revealed that papers' abstracts have more influence on the citation numbers of otological articles. This new solution has been developed in visual programming using Microsoft Azure machine learning at the back end and Programming Without Coding Technology at the front end. In recent years, with the acceleration of urbanization and the implementation of compulsory education, the pressure on students' study and life has increased, and the phenomenon of psychological and behavioral problems has become increasingly prominent. Therefore, the school has regarded students' mental health education as the top priority in teaching work. Effective expression classification can assist psychology researchers to study psychology and other disciplines and analyze children's psychological activities and mental states by classifying expressions, thereby reducing the occurrence of psychological behavior problems. Most of the current mainstream methods focus on the exploration of text explicit features and the optimization of representation models, and few works pay attention to deeper language expressions. Metaphors, as language expressions often used in daily life, are closely related to an individual's emotion, cognition, and psychological state. This paper studies children's smiling face recognition based on deep neural network. In order to obtain a better identification effect of mental health problems of children, this paper attempts to use multisource data, including consumption data, access control data, network logs, and grade data, and proposes a multisource data-based mental health problem identification algorithm. The main research focus is feature extraction, trying to use one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D-CNN) to mine students' online patterns from online behavior sequences, calculate abnormal scores based on students' consumption data in the cafeteria, and describe the dietary differences among students. At the same time, this paper uses the students' psychological state data provided by the psychological center as a label to improve the deficiencies caused by the questionnaire. This paper uses the training set to train five common classification algorithms, evaluates them through the validation set, and selects the best classifier as our algorithm and uses it to identify students with mental health problems in the test set. Predicting the polyproline type II (PPII) helix structure is crucial important in many research areas, such as the protein folding mechanisms, the drug targets, and the protein functions. However, many existing PPII helix prediction algorithms encode the protein sequence information in a single way, which causes the insufficient learning of protein sequence feature information. To improve the protein sequence encoding performance, this paper proposes a BERT-based PPII helix structure prediction algorithm (BERT-PPII), which learns the protein sequence information based on the BERT model. The BERT model's CLS vector can fairly fuse sample's each amino acid residue information. Thus, we utilize the CLS vector as the global feature to represent the sample's global contextual information. As the interactions among the protein chains' local amino acid residues have an important influence on the formation of PPII helix, we utilize the CNN to extract local amino acid residues' features which can further enhance the information expression of protein sequence samples. In this paper, we fuse the CLS vectors with CNN local features to improve the performance of predicting PPII structure. Compared to the state-of-the-art PPIIPRED method, the experimental results on the unbalanced dataset show that the proposed method improves the accuracy value by 1% on the strict dataset and 2% on the less strict dataset. Correspondingly, the results on the balanced dataset show that the AUCs of the proposed method are 0.826 on the strict dataset and 0.785 on less strict datasets, respectively. For the independent test set, the proposed method has the AUC value of 0.827 on the strict dataset and 0.783 on the less strict dataset. Traditional English classroom teaching is difficult to meet the oral learning needs of most learners. Thanks to the continuous advancement of speech processing technology, computer-assisted language learning systems are becoming more intelligent, not only pointing out learners' pronunciation errors but also assessing their overall pronunciation level. Method. This paper uses the method of tree kernel function to measure the similarity of two ontology trees. According to the features of nodes in ontology tree, methods to calculate the external features and internal features of nodes are proposed, respectively. External features are mainly obtained by calculating the hierarchical centrality, node density, and node coverage of nodes in the ontology tree; internal features are mainly obtained by measuring the richness of internal information. According to the similarity of ontology tree and the external features and internal features of nodes, the calculation formula of structural comprehensive similarity is improved, and the features of ontology itself can be fully considered in the calculation. According to the difference of the structure, the weights of the corresponding features during the calculation are adjusted autonomously, so that the calculation results are closer to reality. In spectral image preprocessing, endpoint detection utilizes the harmonic characteristics presented by narrowband spectrograms with high frequency resolution and eliminates useless nonspeech segments by detecting the presence of voiced segments. When building the neural network model, four convolutional layers, two fully connected layers, and one softmax output layer were conceived, and dropout was used to randomly suspend the work of some neurons to avoid overfitting. Results/Discussion. Through the data analysis of mean and variance and verified by one-way analysis of variance, it proves that the sentiment evaluation method in this paper is effective. The traditional multiple linear regression method is not suitable for the corpus and application scenarios of this paper. This paper proposes a decision tree structure, which is similar to the overall scoring process of raters, and uses the Interactive Dicremiser version 3 (ID3) algorithm to build a comprehensive evaluation decision tree for pitch, rhythm, intonation, speech rate, and emotion indicators. It is proved by experiments that the accurate consistency rate of the human-machine evaluation in this paper is 93%, the adjacent consistency rate is 96%, and the Pearson correlation coefficient value of the human-machine evaluation results is 0.89. With the continuous updating and advancement of artificial intelligence technology, it gradually begins to shine in various industries, especially playing an increasingly important role in incremental music teaching and assisted therapy systems. This study designs artificial intelligence models from the perspectives of attention mechanism, contextual information guidance, and distant dependencies combined with incremental music teaching for the segmentation of MS (multiple sclerosis) lesions and achieves the automatic and accurate segmentation of MS lesions through the multidimensional analysis of multimodal magnetic resonance imaging data, which provides a basis for physicians to quantitatively analyze MS lesions, thus assisting them in the diagnosis and treatment of MS. To address the highly variable characteristics of MS lesion location, size, number, and shape, this paper firstly designs a 3D context-guided module based on Kronecker convolution to integrate lesion information from different fields of view, starting from lesion contextual information capture. Then, a 3D spatial attention module is introduced to enhance the representation of lesion features in MRI images. The experiments in this paper confirm that the context-guided module, cross-dimensional cross-attention module, and multidimensional feature similarity module designed for the characteristics of MS lesions are effective, and the proposed attentional context U-Net and multidimensional cross-attention U-Net have greater advantages in the objective evaluation index of lesion segmentation, while being combined with the incremental music teaching approach to assist treatment, which provides a new idea for the intelligent assisted treatment approach. This paper adopts the method of psychological data analysis to conduct in-depth research and analysis on the correlation between teachers' classroom teaching behaviors and students' knowledge acceptance. Firstly, this paper proposes a health factor prediction model, which is specifically divided into clustering and then classification model and a clustering and classification synthesis model. The classroom learning process is coded, sampled, and quantified to obtain data on students' learning behaviors, and a visualization system based on classroom students' learning behaviors is designed and developed to record and analyze students' behaviors in the classroom learning process and grasp students' classroom learning. These two models use algorithms to fine-grained divide the dataset from the perspective of subject users and mental health factors, respectively, and then use decision tree algorithms to classify and predict the mental health factor information by the subject user base information. Second, based on the collected datasets, we designed comparison experiments to validate the clustering-then-classification model and the integrated clustering-classification model and selected the optimal model for comparison. This paper incorporates the adaptive neurofuzzy inference system (ANFIS) technique to model the yield of bio-oil. The estimation of this parameter was performed according to pyrolysis conditions and biomass compositions of feedstock. For this purpose, this paper innovates two optimization methods including a genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO). Primary data were gathered from previous studies and included 244 data of biodiesel oils. The findings showed a coefficient determination ( R 2 ) of 0.937 and RMSE of 2.1053 for the GA-ANFIS model, and a coefficient determination ( R 2 ) of 0.968 and RMSE of 1.4443 for PSO-ANFIS. This study indicates the capability of the PSO-ANFIS algorithm in the estimation of the bio-oil yield. According to the performed analysis, this model shows a higher ability than the previously presented models in predicting the target values and can be a suitable alternative to time-consuming and difficult experimental tests. This paper presents an automated and noninvasive technique to discriminate COVID-19 patients from pneumonia patients using chest X-ray images and artificial intelligence. The reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test is commonly administered to detect COVID-19. However, the RT-PCR test necessitates person-to-person contact to administer, requires variable time to produce results, and is expensive. Moreover, this test is still unreachable to the significant global population. The chest X-ray images can play an important role here as the X-ray machines are commonly available at any healthcare facility. However, the chest X-ray images of COVID-19 and viral pneumonia patients are very similar and often lead to misdiagnosis subjectively. This investigation has employed two algorithms to solve this problem objectively. One algorithm uses lower-dimension encoded features extracted from the X-ray images and applies them to the machine learning algorithms for final classification. The other algorithm relies on the inbuilt feature extractor network to extract features from the X-ray images and classifies them with a pretrained deep neural network VGG16. The simulation results show that the proposed two algorithms can extricate COVID-19 patients from pneumonia with the best accuracy of 100% and 98.1%, employing VGG16 and the machine learning algorithm, respectively. Under the background of 18F-FDG-PET/CT multimodal whole-body imaging for lung tumor diagnosis, for the problems of network degradation and high dimension features during convolutional neural network (CNN) training, beginning with the perspective of dividing sample space, an E-ResNet-NRC (ensemble ResNet nonnegative representation classifier) model is proposed in this paper. The model includes the following steps: (1) Parameters of a pretrained ResNet model are initialized using transfer learning. (2) Samples are divided into three different sample spaces (CT, PET, and PET/CT) based on the differences in multimodal medical images PET/CT, and ROI of the lesion was extracted. (3) The ResNet neural network was used to extract ROI features and obtain feature vectors. (4) Individual classifier ResNet-NRC was constructed with nonnegative representation NRC at a fully connected layer. (5) Ensemble classifier E-ResNet-NRC was constructed using the "relative majority voting method." Finally, two network models, AlexNet and ResNet-50, and three classification algorithms, nearest neighbor classification algorithm (NNC), softmax, and nonnegative representation classification algorithm (NRC), were combined to compare with the E-ResNet-NRC model in this paper. The experimental results show that the overall classification performance of the Ensemble E-ResNet-NRC model is better than the individual ResNet-NRC, and specificity and sensitivity are more higher; the E-ResNet-NRC has better robustness and generalization ability. In this paper, in-depth research and analysis of juvenile delinquency prevention and occupational therapy education guidance using artificial intelligence are conducted, and its response mechanism is designed in this way. Two crime type prediction algorithms based on time-crime type count vectorization and dense neural network and crime type prediction based on the fusion of dense neural network and long- and short-term memory neural network are proposed. The outputs of both are fed into a new neural network for training to achieve the fusion of the two neural networks. Among them, the use of the dense neural network can effectively fit the relationship between the constructed features and crime types. The behavioral manifestations and causes of the formation of deviant behavior in adolescents are discussed. They can only read numerical data, but there is a lot of information in the textual data that is closely related to the training effect. When experimenting, it is necessary to extract knowledge and build applications. The practical work with adolescents with deviant behaviors is again carried out from group work and casework, respectively, with problem diagnosis, needs assessment, and service plan development for specific clients, to carry out relevant practical service work. Helical CT plain scan has high spatial and area resolution, which is beneficial to the extraction of CT features of pulmonary nodules, and is of great significance for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of pulmonary diseases. In order to deeply study the role of visual sensor image algorithm in CT image, this paper adopts clinical simulation method, data fusion method, and image acquisition method to collect images, analyze CT image features, and simplify the algorithm and create a CT model that can better diagnose secondary tuberculosis and lung cancer. We selected 45 patients with lung disease in this group, with an average age of 38 years. At the same time, the consistency analysis results of the diameter and plain CT value data of the five groups of cases measured by two observers are between 0.82 and 0.88, which has a good consistency. We could find that the nodule diameters of the five groups of cases were different (F =16.99, P < 0.01), and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.06), indicating that our data are not only accurate but also very reliable. ROC was used to analyze the precise value of CT values in the pulmonary tuberculosis group and lung cancer group, intrapulmonary lymph node group, and pulmonary hamartoma group to determine the cutoff value. The results showed that the AUC values of the pulmonary tuberculosis group and the lung cancer group were 0.788, and the middle was the largest, indicating that the values were guaranteed. Objective. Internet of Things (IoT) integrates several technologies where devices learn from the experience of each other thereby reducing human-intervened likely errors. Modern technologies like IoT and machine learning enable the conventional to patient-specific approach transition in healthcare. In conventional approach, the biggest challenge faced by healthcare professionals is to predict a disease by observing the symptoms, monitoring the remote area patient, and also attending to the patient all the time after being hospitalised. IoT provides real-time data, makes decision-making smarter, and provides far superior analytics, and all these to help improve the quality of healthcare. The main objective of the work was to create an IoT-based automated system using machine learning models for symptom-based COVID-19 prognosis. Methods. Comparative analysis of predictive microbiology of COVID-19 from case symptoms using various machine learning classifiers like logistics regression, k-nearest neighbor, support vector machine, random forest, decision trees, Naïve Bayes, and gradient booster is reported here. For the sake of the validation and verification of the models, performance of each model based on the retrieved cloud-stored data was measured for accuracy. Results. From the accuracy plot, it was concluded that k-NN was more accurate (97.97%) followed by decision tree (97.79), support vector machine (97.42), logistics regression (96.50), random forest (90.66), gradient boosting classifier (87.77), and Naïve Bayes (73.50) in COVID-19 prognosis. Conclusion. The paper presents a health monitoring IoT framework having high clinical significance in real-time and remote healthcare monitoring. The super-resolution (SR) reconstruction of a single image is an important image synthesis task especially for medical applications. This paper is studying the application of image segmentation for lung cancer images. This research work is utilizing the power of deep learning for resolution reconstruction for lung cancer-based images. At present, the neural networks utilized for image segmentation and classification are suffering from the loss of information where information passes through one layer to another deep layer. The commonly used loss functions include content-based reconstruction loss and generative confrontation network. The sparse coding single-image super-resolution reconstruction algorithm can easily lead to the phenomenon of incorrect geometric structure in the reconstructed image. In order to solve the problem of excessive smoothness and blurring of the reconstructed image edges caused by the introduction of this self-similarity constraint, a two-layer reconstruction framework based on a smooth layer and a texture layer is proposed for a medical application of lung cancer. This method uses a global nonzero gradient number constrained reconstruction model to reconstruct the smooth layer. The proposed sparse coding method is used to reconstruct high-resolution texture images. Finally, a global and local optimization models are used to further improve the quality of the reconstructed image. An adaptive multiscale remote sensing image super-division reconstruction network is designed. The selective core network and adaptive gating unit are integrated to extract and fuse features to obtain a preliminary reconstruction. Through the proposed dual-drive module, the feature prior drive loss and task drive loss are transmitted to the super-resolution network. The proposed work not only improves the subjective visual effect but the robustness has also been enhanced with more accurate construction of edges. The main semantic symbol systems for people to express their emotions include natural language and music. The analysis and establishment of semantic association between language and music is helpful to provide more accurate retrieval and recommendation services for text and music. Existing researches mainly focus on the surface symbolic features and association of natural language and music, which limits the performance and interpretability of applications based on semantic association of natural language and music. Emotion is the main meaning of music expression, and the semantic range of text expression includes emotion. In this paper, the semantic features of music are extracted from audio features, and the semantic matching model of audio emotion analysis is constructed to analyze ethnic music audio emotion through feature extraction ability of deep structure. The model is based on the framework of emotional semantic matching technology and realizes the emotional semantic matching of music fragments and words through semantic emotional recognition algorithm. Multiple experiments show that when W = 0.65 , the recognition rate of multichannel fusion model is 88.42%, and the model can reasonably realize audio emotion analysis. When the spatial dimension of music data changes, the classification accuracy reaches the highest when the spatial dimension is 25. The heart is one of the most important organs of the human body. The role of the heart is to promote blood flow and provide sufficient blood flow to organs and tissues. The research on the heart has important theoretical and clinical significance. Because of the noninvasive and intuitive display of ultrasound image, it can dynamically obtain the heart state and has become the main means to detect the heart dynamics. We analyze the characteristics of cardiac ultrasound image from the medical point of view and signal processing. The heart movement is periodic and rhythmic. The image signal can be decomposed. Firstly, the image is decomposed into high- and low-frequency signals to highlight different dimensional information. Then, the attention model was introduced, focusing on the heart region. Finally, the multidimensional network carrying model was established to achieve cardiac segmentation. There are many thyroid diseases affecting people all over the world. Many diseases affect the thyroid gland, like hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and thyroid cancer. Thyroid inefficiency can cause severe symptoms in patients. Effective classification and machine learning play a significant role in the timely detection of thyroid diseases. This timely classification will indeed affect the timely treatment of the patients. Automatic and precise thyroid nodule detection in ultrasound pictures is critical for reducing effort and radiologists' mistake rate. Medical images have evolved into one of the most valuable and consistent data sources for machine learning generation. In this paper, various machine learning algorithms like decision tree, random forest algorithm, KNN, and artificial neural networks on the dataset create a comparative analysis to better predict the disease based on parameters established from the dataset. Also, the dataset has been manipulated for accurate prediction for the classification. The classification was performed on both the sampled and unsampled datasets for better comparison of the dataset. To observe the clinical efficacy of early enteral nutrition application in critically ill neurosurgical patients, in this paper, we have developed a prediction model for enteral nutrition support in neurosurgical intensive care patients which is primarily based on an integrated learning algorithm. Additionally, we have compared the prediction performance of each model. The patients were divided into control and combined treatment groups according to the random number table method, and 175 patients in each group were treated with a parenteral method and early enteral nutrition support, respectively. A reentry ICU prediction model based on the integrated learning method random forest, adaptive boosting (AdaBoost), and gradient boosting decision tree (GBDT) was developed, and the prediction performance of integrated learning and logistic regression was compared. The average sensitivity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, false-positive rate, false-negative rate, area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC), and Brier score after fivefold cross-validation were used to evaluate model effects, and the best performance model based on the top 10 predictor variables in order of importance was given. Among all models, GBDT (AUROC = 0.858) was better than random forest (AUROC = 0.827) and slightly better than AdaBoost (AUROC = 0.851). The GBDT algorithm gave a higher ranking of importance for variables such as mean arterial pressure, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, heart rate, urine volume, and blood creatinine and relatively poorer cardiovascular and renal function in neurosurgical intensive care patients. This paper constructs an algorithm for youth school violence recognition and an occupational therapy education model for victims through the extraction of action speech features. For the characteristics of violent actions and daily actions, action features in time and frequency domains are extracted and action categories are recognized by BP neural network; for complex actions, it is proposed to decompose complex actions into basic actions to improve the recognition rate; then, LDA dimensionality reduction algorithm is introduced for the problem of the high complexity of algorithm due to high dimensionality of features, and the feature dimensionality is reduced to 8 dimensions by LDA dimensionality reduction algorithm, which reduces the system running time by about 51% and improves the accuracy of violent action recognition by 3.3% while ensuring the overall performance of the system. The LDA dimensionality reduction algorithm reduces the number of features to 8 dimensions, which reduces the running time of the system by 51%, increases the accuracy rate of violent action recognition by 3.3%, and increases the recall rate of violent action recognition by 8.86% while ensuring the overall performance of the system. Based on the classical D-S theory, we proposed an improved D-S evidence fusion algorithm by modifying the original evidence model with a new probability distribution function and constructing new fusion rules, which can solve the fusion conflict problem well. In this paper, the system and user experience are greatly optimized by reasonably constructing table structure, allocating storage space, and establishing indexes. In this system, the MySQL database is used to store system data, such as user registration information, subscription information, and system-provided services, and the data uploaded by users that needs to be processed is stored in Hive. Although the GFP algorithm can solve the problem of load balancing, when the largest conditional pattern base of a frequent item is projected to other nodes, a large amount of data transmission will occur, resulting in increased communication between nodes. In order to solve this problem, the FP-growth parallel algorithm based on traffic optimization gives priority to assigning each frequent item to the node that needs the least traffic when grouping it. Experiments show that the TFP algorithm not only satisfies the load balance of nodes but also ensures a small amount of communication between nodes, which is more efficient than the traditional FP-growth parallel algorithm. Malignant melanoma is one of the most threatening cancers to human health. Only 14% of patients with malignant melanoma have a remaining life span of 5 years. At present, there have been some studies looking for potential prognostic indicators of esophageal cancer from the level of genes and infiltrating immune cells, but there are still some problems that need to be resolved urgently. This paper proposes IGHG3 as the immune infiltration of malignant melanoma, which takes into account the computational mathematics. It aims to deduce the characteristics of immune cell infiltration in malignant melanoma and study the relationship between different immune cell infiltration characteristics and prognosis. The method in this article is to establish a computational mathematical model for the immunotherapy of melanoma, then study the method of identification of the affinity of the IGHG3 reagent, and finally obtain the gene expression of immune infiltration. The functions of these methods are, respectively, to predict the dynamic behavior of T cells with two different specificities through mathematical models and to test the matching degree of different concentrations of IGHG3 reagent with the human body. Then use the ssGSEA algorithm to obtain immune infiltration related data and calculate the difference between the weighted empirical cumulative distribution function of all genes in the effect of IGHG3 on melanoma that was carried out. This work delivers a novel technique to detect brain tumor with the help of enhanced watershed modeling integrated with a modified ResNet50 architecture. It also involves stochastic approaches to help in developing enhanced watershed modeling. Cancer diseases, primarily the brain tumor, have been exponentially raised which has alarmed researchers from academia and industry. Nowadays, researchers need to attain a more effective, accurate, and trustworthy brain tumor tissue detection and classification approach. Different from traditional machine learning methods that are just targeting to enhance classification efficiency, this work highlights the process to extract several deep features to diagnose brain tumor effectively. This paper explains the modeling of a novel technique by integrating the modified ResNet50 with the Enhanced Watershed Segmentation (EWS) algorithm for brain tumor classification and deep feature extraction. The proposed model uses the ResNet50 model with a modified layer architecture including five convolutional layers and three fully connected layers. The proposed method can retain the optimal computational efficiency with high-dimensional deep features. This work obtains a comprised feature set by retrieving the diverse deep features from the ResNet50 deep learning model and feeds them as input to the classifier. The good performing capability of the proposed model is achieved by using hybrid features of ResNet50. The brain tumor tissue images were extracted by the suggested hybrid deep feature-based modified ResNet50 model and the EWS-based modified ResNet50 model with a high classification accuracy of 92% and 90%, respectively. In this paper, we develop a healthcare biclustering model in the field of healthcare to reduce the inconveniences linked to the data clustering on gene expression. The present study uses two separate healthcare biclustering approaches to identify specific gene activity in certain environments and remove the duplication of broad gene information components. Moreover, because of its adequacy in the problem where populations of potential solutions allow exploration of a greater portion of the research area, machine learning or heuristic algorithm has become extensively used for healthcare biclustering in the field of healthcare. The study is evaluated in terms of average match score for nonoverlapping modules, overlapping modules through the influence of noise for constant bicluster and additive bicluster, and the run time. This study is aimed at modeling biodigestion systems as a function of the most influencing parameters to generate two robust algorithms on the basis of the machine learning algorithms, including adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and least square support vector machine (LSSVM). The models are assessed utilizing multiple statistical analyses for the actual values and model outcomes. Results from the suggested models indicate their great capability of predicting biogas production from vegetable food, fruits, and wastes for a variety of ranges of input parameters. The values that are calculated for the mean relative error (MRE %) and mean squared error (MSE) were 29.318 and 0.0039 for ANFIS, and 2.951 and 0.0001 for LSSVM which shows that the latter model has a better ability to predict the target data. Finally, in order to have additional certainty, two analyses of outlier identification and sensitivity were performed on the input parameter data that proved the proposed model in this paper has higher reliability in assessing output values compared with the previous model. Aiming at the current problem of insufficient extraction of small retinal blood vessels, we propose a retinal blood vessel segmentation algorithm that combines supervised learning and unsupervised learning algorithms. In this study, we use a multiscale matched filter with vessel enhancement capability and a U-Net model with a coding and decoding network structure. Three channels are used to extract vessel features separately, and finally, the segmentation results of the three channels are merged. The algorithm proposed in this paper has been verified and evaluated on the DRIVE, STARE, and CHASE_DB1 datasets. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can segment small blood vessels better than most other methods. We conclude that our algorithm has reached 0.8745, 0.8903, and 0.8916 on the three datasets in the sensitivity metric, respectively, which is nearly 0.1 higher than other existing methods. The novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease that has caused thousands of deaths and infected millions worldwide. Thus, various technologies that allow for the fast detection of COVID-19 infections with high accuracy can offer healthcare professionals much-needed help. This study is aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the state-of-the-art pretrained Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) on the automatic diagnosis of COVID-19 from chest X-rays (CXRs). The dataset used in the experiments consists of 1200 CXR images from individuals with COVID-19, 1345 CXR images from individuals with viral pneumonia, and 1341 CXR images from healthy individuals. In this paper, the effectiveness of artificial intelligence (AI) in the rapid and precise identification of COVID-19 from CXR images has been explored based on different pretrained deep learning algorithms and fine-tuned to maximise detection accuracy to identify the best algorithms. The results showed that deep learning with X-ray imaging is useful in collecting critical biological markers associated with COVID-19 infections. VGG16 and MobileNet obtained the highest accuracy of 98.28%. However, VGG16 outperformed all other models in COVID-19 detection with an accuracy, F1 score, precision, specificity, and sensitivity of 98.72%, 97.59%, 96.43%, 98.70%, and 98.78%, respectively. The outstanding performance of these pretrained models can significantly improve the speed and accuracy of COVID-19 diagnosis. However, a larger dataset of COVID-19 X-ray images is required for a more accurate and reliable identification of COVID-19 infections when using deep transfer learning. Accurate quantification of brain tissue is a fundamental and challenging task in neuroimaging. Over the past two decades, statistical parametric mapping (SPM) and FMRIB's Automated Segmentation Tool (FAST) have been widely used to estimate gray matter (GM) and white matter (WM) volumes. However, they cannot reliably estimate cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) volumes. To address this problem, we developed the TRIO algorithm (TRIOA), a new magnetic resonance (MR) multispectral classification method. SPM8, SPM12, FAST, and the TRIOA were evaluated using the BrainWeb database and real magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. In this paper, the MR brain images of 140 healthy volunteers (51.5 ± 15.8 y / o) were obtained using a whole-body 1.5 T MRI system (Aera, Siemens, Erlangen, Germany). Before classification, several preprocessing steps were performed, including skull stripping and motion and inhomogeneity correction. After extensive experimentation, the TRIOA was shown to be more effective than SPM and FAST. For real data, all test methods revealed that the participants aged 20–83 years exhibited an age-associated decline in GM and WM volume fractions. However, for CSF volume estimation, SPM8-s and SPM12-m both produced different results, which were also different compared with those obtained by FAST and the TRIOA. Furthermore, the TRIOA performed consistently better than both SPM and FAST for GM, WM, and CSF volume estimation. Compared with SPM and FAST, the proposed TRIOA showed more advantages by providing more accurate MR brain tissue classification and volume measurements, specifically in CSF volume estimation. Background and Aim: Gastric cancer (GC) is the common leading cause of cancer-related death worldwide. Immune-related genes (IRGs) may potentially predict lymph node metastasis (LNM). We aimed to develop a preoperative model to predict LNM based on these IRGs. Methods: In this paper, we compared and evaluated three machine learning models to predict LNM based on publicly available gene expression data from TCGA-STAD. The Pearson correlation coefficient (PCC) method was utilized to feature selection according to its relationships with LN status. The performance of the model was assessed using the area under the curve (AUC) and F1 score. Results: The Naive Bayesian model showed better performance and was constructed based on 26 selected gene features, with AUCs of 0.741 in the training set and 0.688 in the test set. The F1 score in the training set and test set was 0.652 and 0.597, respectively. Furthermore, Naive Bayesian model based on 26 IRGs is the first diagnostic tool for the identification of LNM in advanced GC. The study introduces a novel method for automatic segmentation of vertebral column tissue from MRI images. The paper describes a method that combines multiple stages of Machine Learning techniques to recognize and separate different tissues of the human spine. For the needs of this paper, 50 MRI examinations presenting lumbosacral spine of patients with low back pain were selected. After the initial filtration, automatic vertebrae recognition using Cascade Classifier takes place. Afterwards the main segmentation process using the patch based Active Appearance Model is performed. Obtained results are interpolated using centripetal Catmull–Rom splines. The method was tested on previously unseen vertebrae images segmented manually by 5 physicians. A test validating algorithm convergence per iteration was performed and the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient was calculated. Additionally, the 10-fold cross-validation analysis has been done. Presented method proved to be comparable to the physicians (FF=90.19±1.01%). Moreover results confirmed a proper algorithm convergence. Automatically segmented area correlated well with manual segmentation for single measurements (r¯=0.8336) and for average measurements (r¯=0.9068) with p=0.05. A radial artery above the radial styloid process is called GUAN and is a critical position for collecting pulse wave in traditional Chinese medicine theory. Locating GUAN is a precondition for collecting radial pulse wave. However, existing methods for locating GUAN lead to large deviations. This paper proposes a novel nontouch method for locating GUAN based on thermal imaging and image processing. This method consists of three parts: the infrared thermal imaging location imaging platform, the wrist edge contour extraction algorithm based on arbitrary angle edge recognition, and radial protrusion recognition algorithm (x coordinate identification algorithm of GUAN) and radial artery fitting algorithm (y coordinate identification algorithm of GUAN). The infrared thermal imaging positioning imaging platform is used to ensure that the wrist of the subject enters the fixed imaging area in a fixed position during each measurement and transmits the thermal imaging images carrying the image information of radial processes and radial arteries to the upper computer. Arbitrary angle edge recognition algorithm is used to extract wrist contour and radial artery edge information. The x-axis coordinates of the radial artery were provided by the identification algorithm, and the y-axis coordinates of the radial artery were provided by the fitting algorithm. Finally, the x and y coordinates determine the GUAN position. The algorithm for locating GUAN could provide repeatable and reliable x and y coordinates. The proposed method shows that relative standard deviation (RSD) of x distance of GUAN is less than 9.0% and RSD of y distance of GUAN is less than 5.0%. There are several methods available in measuring food taste. The sensory evaluation, for instance, is a typical method for panels to test of taste and recognize smell with their nose by measuring the degree of taste characteristic, intensity, and pleasure. There are many issues entailed in the traditional sensory evaluation method such as forming a panel and evaluation cost; moreover, it is only localized in particular areas. Accordingly, this paper aimed to select food in one particular area, and compare and review the content between sensory evaluations using a taste biological sensor, as well as presenting an analysis of brainwaves using EEG and finally a proposal of a new method for sensory evaluation. In this paper, the researchers have conducted a sensory evaluation whereas a maximum of nine points were accumulated by purchasing eight types of rice wine. These eight types of Makgeolli were generalized by generating multidimensional data with the use of TS-5000z, thus learning mapping points and scaling them. Ultrasound imaging has become one of the most popular medical imaging modalities with numerous diagnostic applications. However, ultrasound (US) image segmentation, which is the essential process for further analysis, is a challenging task due to the poor image quality. In this paper, we propose a new segmentation scheme to combine both region- and edge-based information into the robust graph-based (RGB) segmentation method. The only interaction required is to select two diagonal points to determine a region of interest (ROI) on the original image. The ROI image is smoothed by a bilateral filter and then contrast-enhanced by histogram equalization. Then, the enhanced image is filtered by pyramid mean shift to improve homogeneity. With the optimization of particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm, the RGB segmentation method is performed to segment the filtered image. The segmentation results of our method have been compared with the corresponding results obtained by three existing approaches, and four metrics have been used to measure the segmentation performance. The experimental results show that the method achieves the best overall performance and gets the lowest ARE (10.77%), the second highest TPVF (85.34%), and the second lowest FPVF (4.48%). The PET and CT fusion image, combining the anatomical and functional information, has important clinical meaning. An effective registration of PET and CT images is the basis of image fusion. This paper presents a multithread registration method based on contour point cloud for 3D whole-body PET and CT images. Firstly, a geometric feature-based segmentation (GFS) method and a dynamic threshold denoising (DTD) method are creatively proposed to preprocess CT and PET images, respectively. Next, a new automated trunk slices extraction method is presented for extracting feature point clouds. Finally, the multithread Iterative Closet Point is adopted to drive an affine transform. We compare our method with a multiresolution registration method based on Mattes Mutual Information on 13 pairs (246~286 slices per pair) of 3D whole-body PET and CT data. Experimental results demonstrate the registration effectiveness of our method with lower negative normalization correlation (NC = −0.933) on feature images and less Euclidean distance error (ED = 2.826) on landmark points, outperforming the source data (NC = −0.496, ED = 25.847) and the compared method (NC = −0.614, ED = 16.085). Metabolomics is the sophisticated and high-throughput technology based on the entire set of metabolites which is known as the connector between genotypes and phenotypes. For any phenotypic changes, potential metabolite (biomarker) identification is very important because it provides diagnostic as well as prognostic markers and can help to develop new biomolecular therapy. Biomarker identification from metabolomics data analysis is hampered by the use of high-throughput technology that provides high dimensional data matrix which contains missing values as well as outliers. However, missing value imputation and outliers handling techniques play important role in identifying biomarker correctly. Although several missing value imputation techniques are available, outliers deteriorate the accuracy of imputation as well as the accuracy of biomarker identification. Therefore, in this paper we have proposed a new biomarker identification technique combining the groupwise robust singular value decomposition, t-test, and fold-change approach that can identify biomarkers more correctly from metabolomics dataset. We have also compared the performance of the proposed technique with those of other traditional techniques for biomarker identification using both simulated and real data analysis in absence and presence of outliers. Using our proposed method in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) dataset, we have also identified the four upregulated and two downregulated metabolites as potential metabolomic biomarkers for HCC disease. Background. Precisely predicting cancer is crucial for cancer treatment. Gene expression profiles make it possible to analyze patterns between genes and cancers on the genome-wide scale. Gene expression data analysis, however, is confronted with enormous challenges for its characteristics, such as high dimensionality, small sample size, and low Signal-to-Noise Ratio. Results. This paper proposes a method, termed RS_SVM, to predict gene expression profiles via aggregating SVM trained on random subspaces. After choosing gene features through statistical analysis, RS_SVM randomly selects feature subsets to yield random subspaces and training SVM classifiers accordingly and then aggregates SVM classifiers to capture the advantage of ensemble learning. Experiments on eight real gene expression datasets are performed to validate the RS_SVM method. Experimental results show that RS_SVM achieved better classification accuracy and generalization performance in contrast with single SVM, K-nearest neighbor, decision tree, Bagging, AdaBoost, and the state-of-the-art methods. Experiments also explored the effect of subspace size on prediction performance. Conclusions. The similarity-based retrieval of lung nodule computed tomography (CT) images is an important task in the computer-aided diagnosis of lung lesions. It can provide similar clinical cases for physicians and help them make reliable clinical diagnostic decisions. However, when handling large-scale lung images with a general-purpose computer, traditional image retrieval methods may not be efficient. In this paper, a new retrieval framework based on a hashing method for lung nodule CT images is proposed. This method can translate high-dimensional image features into a compact hash code, so the retrieval time and required memory space can be reduced greatly. Moreover, a pruning algorithm is presented to further improve the retrieval speed, and a pruning-based decision rule is presented to improve the retrieval precision. Finally, the proposed retrieval method is validated on 2,450 lung nodule CT images selected from the public Lung Image Database Consortium (LIDC) database. The experimental results show that the proposed pruning algorithm effectively reduces the retrieval time of lung nodule CT images and improves the retrieval precision. In addition, the retrieval framework is evaluated by differentiating benign and malignant nodules, and the classification accuracy can reach 86.62%, outperforming other commonly used classification methods. Motif discovery problem is crucial for understanding the structure and function of gene expression. Over the past decades, many attempts using consensus and probability training model for motif finding are successful. However, the most existing motif discovery algorithms are still time-consuming or easily trapped in a local optimum. To overcome these shortcomings, in this paper, we propose an entropy-based position projection algorithm, called EPP, which designs a projection process to divide the dataset and explores the best local optimal solution. Sublethal concentrations (sub-MICs) of certain disinfectants are no longer effective in removing biofilms from abiotic surfaces and can even promote the formation of biofilms. Bacterial cells can probably adapt to these low concentrations of disinfectants and defend themselves by way of biofilm formation. In this paper, we report on three Staphylococcus aureus biofilm formers (strong B+++, moderate B++, and weak B+) that were cultivated with sub-MICs of commonly used disinfectants, ethanol or chloramine T, and quantified using Syto9 green fluorogenic nucleic acid stain. We demonstrate that 1.25–2.5% ethanol and 2500 μg/mL chloramine T significantly enhanced S. aureus biofilm formation. To visualize differences in biofilm compactness between S. aureus biofilms in control medium, 1.25% ethanol, or 2500 μg/mL chloramine T, scanning electron microscopy was used. To describe changes in abundance of surface-exposed proteins in ethanol- or chloramine T-treated biofilms, surface proteins were prepared using a novel trypsin shaving approach and quantified after dimethyl labeling by LC-LTQ/Orbitrap MS. Our data show that some proteins with adhesive functions and others with cell maintenance functions and virulence factor EsxA were significantly upregulated by both treatments. In contrast, immunoglobulin-binding protein A was significantly downregulated for both disinfectants. Significant differences were observed in the effect of the two disinfectants on the expression of surface proteins including some adhesins, foldase protein PrsA, and two virulence factors. In this paper, we propose deep architecture to dynamically learn the most discriminative features from data for both single-cell and object tracking in computational biology and computer vision. Firstly, the discriminative features are automatically learned via a convolutional deep belief network (CDBN). Secondly, we design a simple yet effective method to transfer features learned from CDBNs on the source tasks for generic purpose to the object tracking tasks using only limited amount of training data. Finally, to alleviate the tracker drifting problem caused by model updating, we jointly consider three different types of positive samples. The purpose of this paper is to examine how well the human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) colony images can be classified using error-correcting output codes (ECOC). Our image dataset includes hiPSC colony images from three classes (bad, semigood, and good) which makes our classification task a multiclass problem. ECOC is a general framework to model multiclass classification problems. We focus on four different coding designs of ECOC and apply to each one of them k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN) searching, naïve Bayes, classification tree, and discriminant analysis variants classifiers. We use Scaled Invariant Feature Transformation (SIFT) based features in classification. The best accuracy (62.4%) is obtained with ternary complete ECOC coding design and k-NN classifier (standardized Euclidean distance measure and inverse weighting). The best result is comparable with our earlier research. The quality identification of hiPSC colony images is an essential problem to be solved before hiPSCs can be used in practice in large-scale. With the rapid growth of biomedical literature, a large amount of knowledge about diseases, symptoms, and therapeutic substances hidden in the literature can be used for drug discovery and disease therapy. In this paper, we present a method of constructing two models for extracting the relations between the disease and symptom and symptom and therapeutic substance from biomedical texts, respectively. The former judges whether a disease causes a certain physiological phenomenon while the latter determines whether a substance relieves or eliminates a certain physiological phenomenon. These two kinds of relations can be further utilized to extract the relations between disease and therapeutic substance. In our method, first two training sets for extracting the relations between the disease-symptom and symptom-therapeutic substance are manually annotated and then two semisupervised learning algorithms, that is, Co-Training and Tri-Training, are applied to utilize the unlabeled data to boost the relation extraction performance. The design of brain-computer interface for the wheelchair for physically disabled people is presented. The design of the proposed system is based on receiving, processing, and classification of the electroencephalographic (EEG) signals and then performing the control of the wheelchair. The number of experimental measurements of brain activity has been done using human control commands of the wheelchair. Based on the mental activity of the user and the control commands of the wheelchair, the design of classification system based on fuzzy neural networks (FNN) is considered. The design of FNN based algorithm is used for brain-actuated control. The training data is used to design the system and then test data is applied to measure the performance of the control system. The control of the wheelchair is performed under real conditions using direction and speed control commands of the wheelchair. Digital dermoscopy aids dermatologists in monitoring potentially cancerous skin lesions. Melanoma is the 5th common form of skin cancer that is rare but the most dangerous. Melanoma is curable if it is detected at an early stage. Automated segmentation of cancerous lesion from normal skin is the most critical yet tricky part in computerized lesion detection and classification. The effectiveness and accuracy of lesion classification are critically dependent on the quality of lesion segmentation. In this paper, we have proposed a novel approach that can automatically preprocess the image and then segment the lesion. The system filters unwanted artifacts including hairs, gel, bubbles, and specular reflection. A novel approach is presented using the concept of wavelets for detection and inpainting the hairs present in the cancer images. The contrast of lesion with the skin is enhanced using adaptive sigmoidal function that takes care of the localized intensity distribution within a given lesion’s images. We then present a segmentation approach to precisely segment the lesion from the background. The proposed approach is tested on the European database of dermoscopic images. Compressed sensing magnetic resonance imaging (CSMRI) employs image sparsity to reconstruct MR images from incoherently undersampled K-space data. Existing CSMRI approaches have exploited analysis transform, synthesis dictionary, and their variants to trigger image sparsity. Nevertheless, the accuracy, efficiency, or acceleration rate of existing CSMRI methods can still be improved due to either lack of adaptability, high complexity of the training, or insufficient sparsity promotion. To properly balance the three factors, this paper proposes a two-layer tight frame sparsifying (TRIMS) model for CSMRI by sparsifying the image with a product of a fixed tight frame and an adaptively learned tight frame. The two-layer sparsifying and adaptive learning nature of TRIMS has enabled accurate MR reconstruction from highly undersampled data with efficiency. To solve the reconstruction problem, a three-level Bregman numerical algorithm is developed. Accurate lung segmentation is an essential step in developing a computer-aided lung disease diagnosis system. However, because of the high variability of computerized tomography (CT) images, it remains a difficult task to accurately segment lung tissue in CT slices using a simple strategy. Motived by the aforementioned, a novel CT lung segmentation method based on the integration of multiple strategies was proposed in this paper. Firstly, in order to avoid noise, the input CT slice was smoothed using the guided filter. Then, the smoothed slice was transformed into a binary image using an optimized threshold. Next, a region growing strategy was employed to extract thorax regions. Then, lung regions were segmented from the thorax regions using a seed-based random walk algorithm. The segmented lung contour was then smoothed and corrected with a curvature-based correction method on each axis slice. Finally, with the lung masks, the lung region was automatically segmented from a CT slice. The proposed method was validated on a CT database consisting of 23 scans, including a number of 883 2D slices (the number of slices per scan is 38 slices), by comparing it to the commonly used lung segmentation method. Automatic liver segmentation not only plays an important role in the analysis of liver disease, but also reduces the cost and humanity’s impact in segmentation. In addition, liver segmentation is a very challenging task due to countless anatomical variations and technical difficulties. Many methods have been designed to overcome these challenges, but these methods still need to be improved to obtain the desired segmentation precision. In this paper, a fast algorithm is proposed for liver extraction from CT images with single-block linear detection. The proposed method does not require iteration; thus, the computational time and complexity are decreased enormously. In addition, the initialization is not crucial in the algorithm, so the algorithm’s robustness and specificity are improved. The experimental evaluation of the proposed method revealed effective segmentation in normal and abnormal (liver hemangioma and liver cancer) abdominal CT images. The average sensitivity, accuracy, and specificity for liver cancer are 96.59%, 98.65%, and 99.03%, respectively. The results of image segmentation approximate the manual segmentation results by the technical doctor. Moreover, our method shows superior flexibility to newly published method with comparable performance. The advantage of our method is verified with experimental results, which is described in detail. We proposed a nonparametric Bayesian model based on variational Bayes algorithm to estimate the response functions in dynamic medical imaging. In dynamic renal scintigraphy, the impulse response or retention functions are rather complicated and finding a suitable parametric form is problematic. In this paper, we estimated the response functions using nonparametric Bayesian priors. These priors were designed to favor desirable properties of the functions, such as sparsity or smoothness. These assumptions were used within hierarchical priors of the variational Bayes algorithm. We performed our algorithm on the real online dataset of dynamic renal scintigraphy. Gene expression data composed of thousands of genes play an important role in classification platforms and disease diagnosis. Hence, it is vital to select a small subset of salient features over a large number of gene expression data. Lately, many researchers devote themselves to feature selection using diverse computational intelligence methods. However, in the progress of selecting informative genes, many computational methods face difficulties in selecting small subsets for cancer classification due to the huge number of genes (high dimension) compared to the small number of samples, noisy genes, and irrelevant genes. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid algorithm HICATS incorporating imperialist competition algorithm (ICA) which performs global search and tabu search (TS) that conducts fine-tuned search. In order to verify the performance of the proposed algorithm HICATS, we have tested it on 10 well-known benchmark gene expression classification datasets with dimensions varying from 2308 to 12600. The performance of our proposed method proved to be superior to other related works including the conventional version of binary optimization algorithm in terms of classification accuracy and the number of selected genes. Lung cancer is the primary reason for death due to cancer worldwide, and non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common subtype of lung cancer. Most patients die from complications of NSCLC due to poor diagnosis. In this paper, we aimed to predict gene biomarkers that may be of use for diagnosis of NSCLC by integrating differential gene expression analysis with functional association network analysis. We first constructed an NSCLC-specific functional association network by combining gene expression correlation with functional association. Then, we applied a network partition algorithm to divide the network into gene modules and identify the most NSCLC-specific gene modules based on their differential expression pattern in between normal and NSCLC samples. Finally, from these modules, we identified genes that exhibited the most impact on the expression of their functionally associated genes in between normal and NSCLC samples and predicted them as NSCLC biomarkers. The detection of pulmonary nodules is one of the most studied problems in the field of medical image analysis due to the great difficulty in the early detection of such nodules and their social impact. The traditional approach involves the development of a multistage CAD system capable of informing the radiologist of the presence or absence of nodules. One stage in such systems is the detection of ROI (regions of interest) that may be nodules in order to reduce the space of the problem. This paper evaluates fuzzy clustering algorithms that employ different classification strategies to achieve this goal. After characterising these algorithms, the authors propose a new algorithm and different variations to improve the results obtained initially. Finally it is shown as the most recent developments in fuzzy clustering are able to detect regions that may be nodules in CT studies. The number of gene-related databases has been growing largely along with the research on genes of bioinformatics. Those databases are filled with various gene functions, pathways, interactions, and so forth, while much biomedical knowledge about human diseases is stored as text in all kinds of literatures. Researchers have developed many methods to extract structured biomedical knowledge. Some study and improve text mining algorithms to achieve efficiency in order to cover as many data sources as possible, while some build open source database to accept individual submissions in order to achieve accuracy. This paper combines both efforts and biomedical ontologies to build an interaction network of multiple biomedical ontologies, which guarantees its robustness as well as its wide coverage of biomedical publications.
