Machine learning (ML), a form of artificial intelligence (AI), is being increasingly employed in neurology. Reported performance metrics often match or exceed the efficiency of average clinicians. The neurologist is easily baffled by the underlying concepts and terminologies associated with ML studies. The superlative performance metrics of ML algorithms often hide the opaque nature of its inner workings. Questions regarding ML model's interpretability and reproducibility of its results in real-world scenarios, need emphasis. Given an abundance of time and information, the expert clinician should be able to deliver comparable predictions to ML models, a useful benchmark while evaluating its performance. Predictive performance metrics of ML models should not be confused with causal inference between its input and output. Simple Summary: Breast cancer is a significant cause of female cancer-related deaths in the US. Checking how severe the cancer is helps in planning treatment. Modern AI methods are good at grading cancer, but they are not used much in hospitals yet. We developed and utilized ensemble deep learning algorithms for addressing the tasks of classifying (1) breast cancer subtype and (2) breast cancer invasiveness from whole slide image (WSI) histopathology slides. The ensemble models used were based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) known for extracting distinctive features crucial for accurate classification. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive analysis of these models and the used methodology for breast cancer diagnosis tasks. Cancer diagnosis and classification are pivotal for effective patient management and treatment planning. In this study, a comprehensive approach is presented utilizing ensemble deep learning techniques to analyze breast cancer histopathology images. Our datasets were based on two widely employed datasets from different centers for two different tasks: BACH and BreakHis. Within the BACH dataset, a proposed ensemble strategy was employed, incorporating VGG16 and ResNet50 architectures to achieve precise classification of breast cancer histopathology images. Introducing a novel image patching technique to preprocess a high-resolution image facilitated a focused analysis of localized regions of interest. The annotated BACH dataset encompassed 400 WSIs across four distinct classes: Normal, Benign, In Situ Carcinoma, and Invasive Carcinoma. In addition, the proposed ensemble was used on the BreakHis dataset, utilizing VGG16, ResNet34, and ResNet50 models to classify microscopic images into eight distinct categories (four benign and four malignant). For both datasets, a five-fold cross-validation approach was employed for rigorous training and testing. Preliminary experimental results indicated a patch classification accuracy of 95.31% (for the BACH dataset) and WSI image classification accuracy of 98.43% (BreakHis). A neural network model needs to be manually designed for ancient mural dynasty recognition, and this paper proposes an ancient mural dynasty recognition algorithm that is based on a neural architecture search (NAS). First, the structural edge information of mural images is extracted for use by the neural network model in recognizing mural missions. Second, an NAS algorithm that is based on contrast selection (CS) simplifies the architecture search to an incremental CS and then searches for the optimal network architecture on the mural dataset. Finally, the identified optimal network architecture is used for training and testing to complete the mural dynasty recognition task. The results show that the top accuracy of the proposed method on the mural dataset is 88.10%, the recall rate is 87.52%, and the precision rate is 87.69%. Each evaluation index used by the neural network model is superior to that of classical network models such as AlexNet and ResNet-50. Compared with NAS methods such as ASNG and MIGO, the accuracy of mural dynasty recognition is higher by an average of 4.27% when using the proposed method. The proposed method is verified on CIFAR-10, CIFAR-100, ImageNet16-120 and other datasets and achieves a good recognition accuracy in the NAS-bench-201 search space, which averages 93.26%, 70.73% and 45.34%, respectively, on the abovementioned datasets. In the last several years, the application of deep learning (DL) algorithms for the detection of skin cancer has grown in popularity. Based on a DL model, this work intended to build a multi-classification technique for diagnosing skin cancers such as melanoma (MEL), basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and melanocytic nevi (MN). In this paper, we have proposed a novel model, a deep learning-based skin cancer classification network (DSCC_Net) that is based on a convolutional neural network (CNN), and evaluated it on three publicly available benchmark datasets (i.e., ISIC 2020, HAM10000, and DermIS). Adaptive algorithms are widely used in deep learning because of their fast convergence. Among them, Adam is the most widely used algorithm. However, studies have shown that Adam's generalization ability is weak. AdaX is a variant of Adam, which introduces a novel second-order momentum, modifies the second-order moment of Adam, and has good generalization ability. However, these algorithms may fail to converge due to instability and extreme learning rates during training. In this paper, we propose a new adaptive and momental bound algorithm, called AdaXod, which characterizes of exponentially averaging the learning rate and is particularly useful for training deep neural networks. By setting an adaptively limited learning rate in the AdaX algorithm, the resultant AdaXod can effectively eliminate the problem of excessive learning rate in the later stage of neural networks training and thus results in stable training. We conduct extensive experiments on different datasets and verify the advantages of the AdaXod algorithm by comparing with other advanced adaptive optimization algorithms. Recent innovations in artificial intelligence (AI)-based techniques for skin lesion image interpretation show potential for the use of AI in the early detection of melanoma. Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the current state of AI-based techniques used in combination with non-invasive diagnostic imaging modalities including reflectance confocal microscopy (RCM), optical coherence tomography (OCT), and dermoscopy. We also aimed to determine whether the application of AI-based techniques can lead to improved diagnostic accuracy of melanoma. Methods: A systematic search was conducted via the Medline/PubMed, Cochrane, and Embase databases for eligible publications between 2018 and 2022. Screening methods adhered to the 2020 version of the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. Included studies utilized AI-based algorithms for melanoma detection and directly addressed the review objectives. Results: We retrieved 40 papers amongst the three databases. All studies directly comparing the performance of AI-based techniques with dermatologists reported the superior or equivalent performance of AI-based techniques in improving the detection of melanoma. In studies directly comparing algorithm performance on dermoscopy images to dermatologists, AI-based algorithms achieved a higher ROC (>80%) in the detection of melanoma. In these comparative studies using dermoscopic images, the mean algorithm sensitivity was 83.01% and the mean algorithm specificity was 85.58%. Studies evaluating machine learning in conjunction with OCT boasted accuracy of 95%, while studies evaluating RCM reported a mean accuracy rate of 82.72%. Conclusions: Our results demonstrate the robust potential of AI-based techniques to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes through the early identification of melanoma. Further studies are needed to assess the generalizability of these AI-based techniques across different populations and skin types, improve standardization in image processing, and further compare the performance of AI-based techniques with board-certified dermatologists to evaluate clinical applicability. In this paper, we have designed an artificial neural network architecture to produce metric field of planar BTZ and quintessence black holes applying a data-driven approach andleveraging holography principle (according to AdS/DL (Anti de Sitter/Deep Learning) correspondence given by [1]). Data has been collected by choosing minimally coupled massive scalar field with quantum fluctuations and we try to process two emergent and ground-truth metrics versus the holographic parameter which plays the role of depth of the neural network. Loss or error function which shows rate of deviation of these two metrics in presence of penalty regularization term reaches to its minimum value when values of the learning rate approach to the observed steepest gradient point. Values of the regularization or penalty term of the quantum scalar field has critical role to matching this two mentioned metric. Also, we design an algorithm which helps us to find optimum value for learning parameter and finally, we understand that loss function convergence heavily depends on the number of epochs and learning rate. With the development of deep learning theory and the decrease of the cost of acquiring massive data, the image semantic segmentation algorithm based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) is gradually replacing the conventional segmentation algorithm by its high accuracy segmentation performance. By increasing the amount of training data and stacking more convolutional layers to form Deep Convolutional Neural Networks (DCNNs), a neural network model with higher segmentation accuracy can be obtained, but it faces the problems of serious memory consumption and long latency. For some special application scenarios, such as augmented reality and mobile interaction, real-time processing cannot be performed. To improve the speed of semantic segmentation while obtaining the most accurate segmentation results as possible, this paper proposes a semantic segmentation algorithm based on lightweight convolutional neural networks. Taking the computational complexity and segmentation accuracy into account, the algorithm starts from the perspective of extracting high-level semantic features and introduces a position-attention mechanism with richer contextual information to model the relationship between different pixels, avoiding the convolutional local perceptual field to be too small. To recover clearer target boundaries, a channel attention mechanism is introduced in the decoding part of the model to mine more useful feature channel information and effectively improve the fusion of low-level features with high-level features. Effective expression classification can assist psychology researchers to study psychology and other disciplines and analyze children's psychological activities and mental states by classifying expressions, thereby reducing the occurrence of psychological behavior problems. Most of the current mainstream methods focus on the exploration of text explicit features and the optimization of representation models, and few works pay attention to deeper language expressions. Metaphors, as language expressions often used in daily life, are closely related to an individual's emotion, cognition, and psychological state. This paper studies children's smiling face recognition based on deep neural network. In order to obtain a better identification effect of mental health problems of children, this paper attempts to use multisource data, including consumption data, access control data, network logs, and grade data, and proposes a multisource data-based mental health problem identification algorithm. The main research focus is feature extraction, trying to use one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D-CNN) to mine students' online patterns from online behavior sequences, calculate abnormal scores based on students' consumption data in the cafeteria, and describe the dietary differences among students. At the same time, this paper uses the students' psychological state data provided by the psychological center as a label to improve the deficiencies caused by the questionnaire. This paper uses the training set to train five common classification algorithms, evaluates them through the validation set, and selects the best classifier as our algorithm and uses it to identify students with mental health problems in the test set. Our findings indicate that the generative methods can produce results similar to the original sequence without significant changes in radiometric features. This study explores the application of Deep Learning techniques in assisting tumor grading using Magnetic Resonance Images (MRIs). By analyzing a glioma database sourced from multiple public datasets and comparing different settings, the aim of this study is to develop a robust and reliable grading system. The study demonstrates that by focusing on the tumor region of interest and augmenting the available data, there is a significant improvement in both the accuracy and confidence of tumor grade classifications. While successful in differentiating low-grade gliomas from high-grade gliomas, the accurate classification of grades 2, 3, and 4 remains challenging. The research findings have significant implications for advancing the development of a non-invasive, robust, and trustworthy data-driven system to support clinicians in the diagnosis and therapy planning of glioma patients. Glioma is the most common type of tumor in humans originating in the brain. According to the World Health Organization, gliomas can be graded on a four-stage scale, ranging from the most benign to the most malignant. The grading of these tumors from image information is a far from trivial task for radiologists and one in which they could be assisted by machine-learning-based decision support. However, the machine learning analytical pipeline is also fraught with perils stemming from different sources, such as inadvertent data leakage, adequacy of 2D image sampling, or classifier assessment biases. In this paper, we analyze a glioma database sourced from multiple datasets using a simple classifier, aiming to obtain a reliable tumor grading and, on the way, we provide a few guidelines to ensure such reliability. Our results reveal that by focusing on the tumor region of interest and using data augmentation techniques we significantly enhanced the accuracy and confidence in tumor classifications. Evaluation on an independent test set resulted in an AUC-ROC of 0.932 in the discrimination of low-grade gliomas from high-grade gliomas, and an AUC-ROC of 0.893 in the classification of grades 2, 3, and 4. Dedicated equipment, which is widely used in many different types of vehicles, is the core system that determines the combat capability of special vehicles. Therefore, assuring the normal operation of dedicated equipment is crucial. With the increase in battlefield complexity, the demand for equipment functions is increasing, and the complexity of dedicated equipment is also increasing. To solve the problem of fault diagnosis of dedicated equipment, a fault diagnosis algorithm based on CNN-LSTM was proposed in this paper. CNN and LSTM are used in the model adopted by the algorithm to extract spatial and temporal features from the data. CBAM is used to enhance the model's accuracy in identifying faults for dedicated equipment. Data on dedicated equipment faults were obtained from a hardware-in-loop simulation platform to verify the model. Object tracking based on Siamese networks has achieved great success in recent years, but increasingly advanced trackers are also becoming cumbersome, which will severely limit deployment on resource-constrained devices. To solve the above problems, we designed a network with the same or higher tracking performance as other lightweight models based on the SiamFC lightweight tracking model. At the same time, for the problems that the SiamFC tracking network is poor in processing similar semantic information, deformation, illumination change, and scale change, we propose a global attention module and different scale training and testing strategies to solve them. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, this paper has done comparative experiments on the ILSVRC, OTB100, VOT2018 datasets. It is difficult to diagnose in its early stages; therefore, we proposed an easy-to-use telemedicine device to tackle skin cancer without expert intervention. We developed a lightweight, accurate, general-purpose deep learning algorithm for skin cancer classification. Squeeze-MNet combines a Squeeze algorithm for digital hair removal during preprocessing and a MobileNet deep learning model with predefined weights. The Squeeze algorithm extracts important image features from the image, and the black-hat filter operation removes noise. The MobileNet model (with a dense neural network) was developed using the International Skin Imaging Collaboration (ISIC) dataset to fine-tune the model. The proposed model is lightweight; the prototype was tested on a Raspberry Pi 4 Internet of Things device with a Neo pixel 8-bit LED ring; a medical doctor validated the device. The average precision (AP) for benign and malignant diagnoses was 99.76% and 98.02%, respectively. Using our approach, the required dataset size decreased by 66%. Therefore, this study develops a new Manta Ray Foraging Optimization Transfer Learning technique that is based on Gastric Cancer Diagnosis and Classification (MRFOTL-GCDC) using endoscopic images. For enhancing the quality of the endoscopic images, the presented MRFOTL-GCDC technique executes the Wiener filter (WF) to perform a noise removal process. In the presented MRFOTL-GCDC technique, MRFO with SqueezeNet model is used to derive the feature vectors. Since the trial-and-error hyperparameter tuning is a tedious process, the MRFO algorithm-based hyperparameter tuning results in enhanced classification results. Finally, the Elman Neural Network (ENN) model is utilized for the GC classification. To depict the enhanced performance of the presented MRFOTL-GCDC technique, a widespread simulation analysis is executed. This paper investigates the stochastic optimization problem focusing on developing scalable parallel algorithms for deep learning tasks. Our solution involves a reformation of the objective function for stochastic optimization in neural network models, along with a novel parallel computing strategy, coined the weighted aggregating stochastic gradient descent (WASGD). Following a theoretical analysis on the characteristics of the new objective function, WASGD introduces a decentralized weighted aggregating scheme based on the performance of local workers. Without any center variable, the new method automatically gauges the importance of local workers and accepts them by their contributions. Furthermore, we have developed an enhanced version of the method, WASGD+, by (1) implementing a designed sample order and (2) upgrading the weight evaluation function. To validate the new method, we benchmark our pipeline against several popular algorithms including the state-of-the-art deep neural network classifier training techniques (e.g., elastic averaging SGD). Comprehensive validation studies have been conducted on four classic datasets: CIFAR-100, CIFAR-10, Fashion-MNIST, and MNIST. Subsequent results have firmly validated the superiority of the WASGD scheme in accelerating the training of deep architecture. Ship fire is one of the greatest dangers to ship navigation safety. Nevertheless, typical detection methods have limited detection effectiveness and accuracy due to distance restrictions and ship motion. Although the issue can be addressed by image recognition algorithms based on deep learning, the computational complexity and efficiency for ship detection are tough. This paper proposes a lightweight target identification technique based on the modified YOLOv4-tiny algorithm for the precise and efficient detection of ship fires, taking into account the distinctive characteristics of ship fires and the marine environment. Initially, a multi-scale detection technique is applied to broaden the detection range and integrate deep semantic information, thereby enhancing the feature information of small targets and obscured objects and improving the detection precision. Then, the proposed algorithm employs the SE attention mechanism for inter-channel feature fusion to improve the capability of feature extraction and the precision of ship fire detection. Last but not least, picture transformation and migration learning are added to the small ship fire dataset to accelerate the convergence pace, improve the convergence effect, and reduce dataset dependence. Vehicle fault detection and diagnosis (VFDD) along with predictive maintenance (PdM) are indispensable for early diagnosis in order to prevent severe accidents due to mechanical malfunction in urban environments. This paper proposes an early voiceprint driving fault identification system using machine learning algorithms for classification. Previous studies have examined driving fault identification, but less attention has focused on using voiceprint features to locate corresponding faults. This research uses 43 different common vehicle mechanical malfunction condition voiceprint signals to construct the dataset. These datasets were filtered by linear predictive coefficient (LPC) and wavelet transform(WT). After the original voiceprint fault sounds were filtered and obtained the main fault characteristics, the deep neural network (DNN), convolutional neural network (CNN), and long short-term memory (LSTM) architectures are used for identification. The experimental results show that the accuracy of the CNN algorithm is the best for the LPC dataset. In addition, for the wavelet dataset, DNN has the best performance in terms of identification performance and training time. After cross-comparison of experimental results, the wavelet algorithm combined with DNN can improve the identification accuracy by up to 16.57% compared with other deep learning algorithms and reduce the model training time by up to 21.5% compared with other algorithms. With the widespread adoption of service-oriented architectures (SOA), services with the same functionality but the different Quality of Service (QoS) are proliferating, which is challenging the ability of users to build high-quality services. It is often costly for users to evaluate the QoS of all feasible services; therefore, it is necessary to investigate QoS prediction algorithms to help users find services that meet their needs. In this paper, we propose a QoS prediction algorithm called the MFDK model, which is able to fill in historical sparse QoS values by a non-negative matrix decomposition algorithm and predict future QoS values by a deep neural network. In addition, this model uses a Kalman filter algorithm to correct the model prediction values with real-time QoS observations to reduce its prediction error. Through extensive simulation experiments on the WS-DREAM dataset, we analytically validate that the MFDK model has better prediction accuracy compared to the baseline model, and it can maintain good prediction results under different tensor densities and observation densities. The super-resolution (SR) reconstruction of a single image is an important image synthesis task especially for medical applications. This paper is studying the application of image segmentation for lung cancer images. This research work is utilizing the power of deep learning for resolution reconstruction for lung cancer-based images. At present, the neural networks utilized for image segmentation and classification are suffering from the loss of information where information passes through one layer to another deep layer. The commonly used loss functions include content-based reconstruction loss and generative confrontation network. The sparse coding single-image super-resolution reconstruction algorithm can easily lead to the phenomenon of incorrect geometric structure in the reconstructed image. In order to solve the problem of excessive smoothness and blurring of the reconstructed image edges caused by the introduction of this self-similarity constraint, a two-layer reconstruction framework based on a smooth layer and a texture layer is proposed for a medical application of lung cancer. This method uses a global nonzero gradient number constrained reconstruction model to reconstruct the smooth layer. The proposed sparse coding method is used to reconstruct high-resolution texture images. Finally, a global and local optimization models are used to further improve the quality of the reconstructed image. An adaptive multiscale remote sensing image super-division reconstruction network is designed. The selective core network and adaptive gating unit are integrated to extract and fuse features to obtain a preliminary reconstruction. Through the proposed dual-drive module, the feature prior drive loss and task drive loss are transmitted to the super-resolution network. This paper presents a method of high-capacity and transparent watermarking based on the usage of deep neural networks with the adjustable subsquares properties algorithm to encode the data of a watermark in high-quality video using the H.265/HEVC (High-Efficiency Video Coding) codec. The aim of the article is to present a method of embedding a watermark in a video with HEVC codec compression by making changes in a video in a way that is not noticeable to the naked eye. The method presented here is characterised by focusing on ensuring the accuracy of the original image in relation to the watermarked image, providing the transparency of the embedded watermark, while ensuring its survival after compression by the HEVC codec. The article includes a presentation of the practical results of watermark embedding with a built-in variation mechanism of its capacity and resistance, thanks to the adjustable subsquares properties algorithm. Colon and rectal cancers are the most common kinds of cancer globally. Colon cancer is more prevalent in men than in women. Early detection increases the likelihood of survival, and treatment significantly increases the likelihood of eradicating the disease. The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) programme is an excellent source of domestic cancer statistics. SEER includes nearly 30% of the United States population, covering various races and geographic locations. The data are made public via the SEER website when a SEER limited-use data agreement form is submitted and approved. We investigate data from the SEER programme, specifically colon cancer statistics, in this study. Our objective is to create reliable colon cancer survival and conditional survival prediction algorithms. To ensure the safe operation of highway traffic lines, given the imperfect feature extraction of existing road pit defect detection models and the practicability of detection equipment, this paper proposes a lightweight target detection algorithm with enhanced feature extraction based on the YOLO (You Only Look Once) algorithm. The BIFPN (Bidirectional Feature Pyramid Network) network structure is used for multi-scale feature fusion to enhance the feature extraction ability, and Varifocal Loss is used to optimize the sample imbalance problem, which improves the accuracy of road defect target detection. Retinal vessel segmentation has high value for the research on the diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy, hypertension, and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Most methods based on deep convolutional neural networks (DCNN) do not have large receptive fields or rich spatial information and cannot capture global context information of the larger areas. Therefore, it is difficult to identify the lesion area, and the segmentation efficiency is poor. This paper presents a butterfly fully convolutional neural network (BFCN). First, in view of the low contrast between blood vessels and the background in retinal blood vessel images, this paper uses automatic color enhancement (ACE) technology to increase the contrast between blood vessels and the background. Second, using the multiscale information extraction (MSIE) module in the backbone network can capture the global contextual information in a larger area to reduce the loss of feature information. At the same time, using the transfer layer (T_Layer) can not only alleviate gradient vanishing problem and repair the information loss in the downsampling process but also obtain rich spatial information. Finally, for the first time in the paper, the segmentation image is postprocessed, and the Laplacian sharpening method is used to improve the accuracy of vessel segmentation. Most trackers are only dependent on the first frame as a template to search for and locate the target location in subsequent videos. However, objects may undergo occlusions and deformation over time, and the original snapshot of the object can no longer accurately reflect the current appearance of the object, which greatly limits the performance improvement of the tracker. In this paper, we propose a novel Siamese tracking algorithm with symmetric structure called SiamRDT, which reflects the latest appearance and motion states of objects through additional reliable dynamic templates. The model decides whether to update the dynamic template according to the quality estimation score and employs the attention mechanism to enhance the reliability of the dynamic template, adopting the depth-wise correlation algorithm to integrate the initial template and the dynamic template and the search area. Through reliable dynamic templates and credible initial templates, the model can fuse initial-state information and the latest-state information of objects. We conduct sufficient ablation experiments to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed key components, and the tracker achieves very competitive results on four large-scale tracking benchmarks, namely OTB100, GOT-10k, LaSOT, and TrackingNet. Siamese network-based object tracking algorithms have recently gained popularity due to continuous improvement in tracking accuracy and robustness. However, these trackers are often limited by inefficient initialization and unstable online update. The model drift accumulates as more frames are processed. To address the above issues, this paper introduced a method that combines both deep learning and conventional regression algorithms (SVR, Support Vector Regression). Specifically, we propose a feature projection algorithm, which can effectively reduce the dimension of the features extracted from deep neural networks and improve the distinguishability of them at the same time. To make the features more robust for SVR training, we further propose two feature aggregation methods at both the channel level and the spatial level. We update the SVR model online instead of the deep neural network to make the tracking process more robust. Aiming at the problems of poor signal detection effect caused by many interference factors in large-scale MIMO technology scene, this paper proposes a 5G massive MIMO signal detection algorithm based on deep learning. Firstly, the MIMO system model based on neural network is constructed, and Deep Neural Network (DNN) detection is introduced into the receiver of the traditional MIMO system to obtain the information bits or codewords and channel state information transmitted by transmitters. Then, the end-to-end training method is adopted to make neural network learn the mapping relationship of information bits or codewords transmitted by system transceivers. Furthermore, DNN detector is improved based on Simplified Message Passing Detection (sMPD) algorithm, and the correction factor is updated continuously to optimize network parameters to realize the accurate detection and decoding of the MIMO system. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most generally known neurodegenerative disorder, leading to a steady deterioration in cognitive ability. Deep learning models have shown outstanding performance in the diagnosis of AD, and these models do not need any handcrafted feature extraction over conventional machine learning algorithms. Since the 2012 AlexNet accomplishment, the convolutional neural network (CNN) has been progressively utilized by the medical community to assist practitioners to early diagnose AD. For the first time, a deep learning (DL) algorithm is presented to study the effect of the source of variability on the performance of semiconductor nanodevice. This paper reports the possibility of an alternative solution of device simulation in order to optimize the source variation. It is based on the statistical distribution of work function fluctuation (WKF) on the metal gate depending on the orientation and location of metal grains. It has been revealed that the WKF of a metal gate can lead to different fluctuations in electrical characteristics. Therefore, an emerging DL algorithm, artificial neural network (ANN) is utilized to identify the appropriate WKF patterns on the metal gate that can reduce the impact of characteristic fluctuation, i.e., $\sigma V_{TH}, \sigma I_{ON}$ and $\sigma I_{OFF}$ , simultaneously. With the rapid development of deep learning algorithms, it is gradually applied in UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) driving, visual recognition, target tracking, behavior recognition, and other fields. In the field of sports, many scientists put forward the research of target tracking and recognition technology based on deep learning algorithms for athletes' trajectory and behavior capture. Based on the target tracking algorithm, a regional proposal network RPN algorithm combined with the twin regional proposal network Siamese algorithm is proposed to study the tracking and recognition technology of athletes' behavior. Then, the adaptive updating network is used to track the behavior target of athletes, and the simulation model of behavior recognition is established. This algorithm is different from the traditional twin network algorithm. It can accurately take the athlete's behavior as the target candidate box in model training and reduce the interference of environment and other factors on model recognition. The results show that the Siamese-RPN algorithm can reduce the interference from the background and environment when tracking the athletes' target behavior trajectory. This algorithm can improve the training behavior recognition model, ignore the background interference elements of the behavior image, and improve the accuracy and overall performance of the model. A deep learning assisted sum-product detection algorithm (DL-SPDA) for faster-than-Nyquist (FTN) signaling is proposed in this paper. The proposed detection algorithm works on a modified factor graph which concatenates a neural network function node to the variable nodes of the conventional FTN factor graph to approach the maximum a posterior probabilities (MAP) error performance. In specific, the neural network performs as a function node in the modified factor graph to deal with the residual intersymbol interference (ISI) that is not considered by the conventional detector with a limited complexity. We modify the updating rule in the conventional sum-product algorithm so that the neural network assisted detector can be complemented to a turbo equalization receiver. Furthermore, we propose a compatible training technique to improve the detection performance of the proposed DL-SPDA with turbo equalization. In particular, the neural network is optimized in terms of the mutual information between the transmitted sequence and the extrinsic information. We also investigate the maximum-likelihood bit error rate (BER) performance of a finite length coded FTN system. Information leaks via side channels remain a challenging problem to guarantee confidentiality. Static analysis is a prevalent approach for detecting side channels. However, the side-channel analysis poses challenges to the static techniques since they arise from non-functional aspects of systems and require an analysis of multiple traces. In addition, the outcome of static analysis is usually restricted to binary answers. In practice, real-world applications may need to disclose some aspects of the confidential information to ensure desired functionality. Therefore, quantification techniques are necessary to evaluate the resulting threats. In this paper, we propose a dynamic analysis technique to detect and quantify side channels. Our novel approach is to split the problem into two tasks. First, we learn a timing model of the program as a neural network. While the program implements the functionality, the neural network models the non-functional property that does not exist in the syntax or semantics of programs. Second, we analyze the neural network to quantify information leaks. As demonstrated in our experiments, both of these tasks are feasible in practice—making the approach a significant improvement over state-of-the-art side channel detectors and quantifiers. Thus, our key technical contributions are (a) a binarized neural network architecture that enables side-channel discovery and (b) a novel MILP-based counting algorithm to estimate the side-channel strength. On a set of benchmarks, we show that neural network models the timing of programs with thousands of methods precisely. The novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease that has caused thousands of deaths and infected millions worldwide. Thus, various technologies that allow for the fast detection of COVID-19 infections with high accuracy can offer healthcare professionals much-needed help. This study is aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the state-of-the-art pretrained Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) on the automatic diagnosis of COVID-19 from chest X-rays (CXRs). The dataset used in the experiments consists of 1200 CXR images from individuals with COVID-19, 1345 CXR images from individuals with viral pneumonia, and 1341 CXR images from healthy individuals. In this paper, the effectiveness of artificial intelligence (AI) in the rapid and precise identification of COVID-19 from CXR images has been explored based on different pretrained deep learning algorithms and fine-tuned to maximise detection accuracy to identify the best algorithms. The results showed that deep learning with X-ray imaging is useful in collecting critical biological markers associated with COVID-19 infections. VGG16 and MobileNet obtained the highest accuracy of 98.28%. However, VGG16 outperformed all other models in COVID-19 detection with an accuracy, F1 score, precision, specificity, and sensitivity of 98.72%, 97.59%, 96.43%, 98.70%, and 98.78%, respectively. The outstanding performance of these pretrained models can significantly improve the speed and accuracy of COVID-19 diagnosis. However, a larger dataset of COVID-19 X-ray images is required for a more accurate and reliable identification of COVID-19 infections when using deep transfer learning. An increasing amount of malicious code causes harm on the internet by threatening user privacy as one of the primary sources of network security vulnerabilities. The detection of malicious code is becoming increasingly crucial, and current methods of detection require much improvement. Linear spectral unmixing is the practice of decomposing the mixed pixel into a linear combination of the constituent endmembers and the estimated abundances. This paper focuses on unsupervised spectral unmixing where the endmembers are unknown a priori. Conventional approaches use either geometrical- or statistical-based approaches. In this paper, we address the challenges of spectral unmixing with unsupervised deep learning models, in specific, the autoencoder models, where the decoder serves as the endmembers and the hidden layer output serves as the abundances. In several recent attempts, part-based autoencoders have been designed to solve the unsupervised spectral unmixing problem. However, the performance has not been satisfactory. In this paper, we first discuss some important findings we make on issues with part-based autoencoders. By proof of counterexample, we show that all existing part-based autoencoder networks with nonnegative and tied encoder and decoder are inherently defective by making these inappropriate assumptions on the network structure. As a result, they are not suitable for solving the spectral unmixing problem. We propose a so-called untied denoising autoencoder with sparsity, in which the encoder and decoder of the network are independent, and only the decoder of the network is enforced to be nonnegative. Furthermore, we make two critical additions to the network design. First, since denoising is an essential step for spectral unmixing, we propose to incorporate the denoising capacity into the network optimization in the format of a denoising constraint rather than cascading another denoising preprocessor in order to avoid the introduction of additional reconstruction error. Second, to be more robust to the inaccurate estimation of a number of endmembers, we adopt an $l_{21}$ -norm on the encoder of the network to reduce the redundant endmembers while decreasing the reconstruction error simultaneously. A variety of open relation extraction systems have been developed in the last decade. And deep learning, especially with attention model, has gained much success in the task of relation classification. Nevertheless, there is, yet, no research reported on classifying open relation tuples to our knowledge. In this paper, we propose a novel semieager learning algorithm (SemiE) to tackle the problem of open relation classification. Different from the eager learning approaches (e.g., ANNs) and the lazy learning approaches (e.g., kNN), the SemiE offers the benefits of both categories of learning scheme, with its significantly lower computational cost (O(n)). This algorithm can also be employed in other classification tasks. Additionally, this paper presents an adapted attention model to transform relation phrases into vectors by using word embedding. The primary purpose of this paper is to realize robust place recognition algorithms towards simultaneous viewpoint and condition changes, and provide satisfactory computational efficiency. In this paper, we significantly improve the viewpoint invariance of the SeqSLAM algorithm by using state-of-the-art deep learning techniques to generate robust feature representations of images and develop the SeqCNNSLAM . Experimental results show that SeqCNNSLAM outperforms state-of-the-art place recognition systems in most cases, such as, when precision is maintained at 100%, the maximum recall obtained by SeqCNNSLAM is 50% higher than SeqSLAM on the Norland dataset with simultaneous condition change and 12.5% viewpoint change. Besides, we develop an acceleration method called A-SeqCNNSLAM , which exploits the location relationship between the matching images of adjacent images to reduce the matching range of the current image. Experimental results demonstrate that an acceleration of  ∼  5 times is achieved with minimal accuracy degradation of  ∼  5%. Nature-inspired algorithms have been developed with biological mimicking. Machine learning algorithms from artificial neurons and artificial neural networks have been developed to mimic the human brain with synthetic neurons. This research can be traced back to the 1940s and has been expanded to agri-food problem solving in the last three decades. Now, the research and applications have entered the stage of deep learning with more layers and neurons that have complex connections to extract deep features of the target. In this paper, the developments of artificial neural networks and deep learning algorithms are presented and discussed in conjunction with their biological connections for agri-food applications. The related independent studies previously conducted by the author are summarized with the newly conducted being presented. Bone age assessment (BAA) is an essential topic in the clinical practice of evaluating the biological maturity of children. Because the manual method is time-consuming and prone to observer variability, it is attractive to develop computer-aided and automated methods for BAA. In this paper, we present a fully automatic BAA method. To eliminate noise in a raw X-ray image, we start with using U-Net to precisely segment hand mask image from a raw X-ray image. Even though U-Net can perform the segmentation with high precision, it needs a bigger annotated dataset. To alleviate the annotation burden, we propose to use deep active learning (AL) to select unlabeled data samples with sufficient information intentionally. These samples are given to Oracle for annotation. After that, they are then used for subsequential training. In the beginning, only 300 data are manually annotated and then the improved U-Net within the AL framework can robustly segment all the 12611 images in RSNA dataset. The AL segmentation model achieved a Dice score at 0.95 in the annotated testing set. To optimize the learning process, we employ six off-the-shell deep Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) with pretrained weights on ImageNet. We use them to extract features of preprocessed hand images with a transfer learning technique. In the end, a variety of ensemble regression algorithms are applied to perform BAA. Besides, we choose a specific CNN to extract features and explain why we select that CNN. Experimental results show that the proposed approach achieved discrepancy between manual and predicted bone age of about 6.96 and 7.35 months for male and female cohorts, respectively, on the RSNA dataset. The shortage of training samples remains one of the main obstacles in applying the neural networks to the hyperspectral images classification. To fuse the spatial and spectral information, pixel patches are often utilized to train a model, which may further aggregate this problem. In the existing works, an artificial neural network (ANN) model supervised by centerloss (ANNC) was introduced. Training merely with spectral information, the ANNC yields discriminative spectral features suitable for the subsequent classification tasks. In this paper, we propose a novel convolutional neural network (CNN)-based spatial feature fusion (CSFF) algorithm, which allows a smart integration of spatial information to the spectral features extracted by ANNC. As a critical part of CSFF, a CNN-based discriminant model is introduced to estimate whether two pixels belong to the same class. At the testing stage, by applying the discriminant model to the pixel pairs generated by a test pixel and each of its neighbors, the local structure is estimated and represented as a customized convolutional kernel. The spectral–spatial feature is generated by a convolutional operation between the estimated kernel and the corresponding spectral features within a local region. The final label is determined by classifying the resulting spectral–spatial feature. Without increasing the number of training samples or involving pixel patches at the training stage, the CSFF framework achieves the state of the art by declining 20%–50% classification failures in experiments on three well-known hyperspectral images. Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a common base signal used to monitor brain activities and diagnose sleep disorders. Manual sleep stage scoring is a time-consuming task for sleep experts and is limited by inter-rater reliability. In this paper, we propose an automatic sleep stage annotation method called SleepEEGNet using a single-channel EEG signal. The SleepEEGNet is composed of deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to extract time-invariant features, frequency information, and a sequence to sequence model to capture the complex and long short-term context dependencies between sleep epochs and scores. In addition, to reduce the effect of the class imbalance problem presented in the available sleep datasets, we applied novel loss functions to have an equal misclassified error for each sleep stage while training the network. We evaluated the performance of the proposed method on different single-EEG channels (i.e., Fpz-Cz and Pz-Oz EEG channels) from the Physionet Sleep-EDF datasets published in 2013 and 2018. The evaluation results demonstrate that the proposed method achieved the best annotation performance compared to current literature, with an overall accuracy of 84.26%, a macro F1-score of 79.66% and κ = 0.79. Neural networks with rectified linear unit (ReLU) activation functions (a.k.a. ReLU networks) have achieved great empirical success in various domains. Nonetheless, existing results for learning ReLU networks either pose assumptions on the underlying data distribution being, e.g., Gaussian, or require the network size and/or training size to be sufficiently large. In this context, the problem of learning a two-layer ReLU network is approached in a binary classification setting, where the data are linearly separable and a hinge loss criterion is adopted. Leveraging the power of random noise perturbation, this paper presents a novel stochastic gradient descent (SGD) algorithm, which can provably train any single-hidden-layer ReLU network to attain global optimality, despite the presence of infinitely many bad local minima, maxima, and saddle points in general. This result is the first of its kind, requiring no assumptions on the data distribution, training/network size, or initialization. Convergence of the resultant iterative algorithm to a global minimum is analyzed by establishing both an upper bound and a lower bound on the number of non-zero updates to be performed. Moreover, generalization guarantees are developed for ReLU networks trained with the novel SGD leveraging classic compression bounds. These guarantees highlight a key difference (at least in the worst case) between reliably learning a ReLU network as well as a leaky ReLU network in terms of sample complexity. Antenna selection in Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems has attracted increasing attention due to the challenge of keeping a balance between communication performance and computational complexity. Recently, deep learning based methods have achieved promising performance in many application fields. This paper proposed a deep learning (DL) based antenna selection technique. First, we generated the label of training antenna systems by maximizing the channel capacity. Then, we adopted the deep convolutional neural network (CNN) on the channel matrices to explicitly exploit the massive latent cues of attenuation coefficients. Finally, we used the adopted CNN to assign the class label and then select the optimal antenna subset. Neuro-inspired architectures based on synaptic memory arrays have been proposed for on-chip acceleration of weighted sum and weight update in machine/deep learning algorithms. In this paper, we developed NeuroSim, a circuit-level macro model that estimates the area, latency, dynamic energy, and leakage power to facilitate the design space exploration of neuro-inspired architectures with mainstream and emerging device technologies. NeuroSim provides flexible interface and a wide variety of design options at the circuit and device level. Therefore, NeuroSim can be used by neural networks (NNs) as a supporting tool to provide circuit-level performance evaluation. With NeuroSim, an integrated framework can be built with hierarchical organization from the device level (synaptic device properties) to the circuit level (array architectures) and then to the algorithm level (NN topology), enabling instruction-accurate evaluation on the learning accuracy as well as the circuit-level performance metrics at the run-time of online learning. Using multilayer perceptron as a case-study algorithm, we investigated the impact of the “analog” emerging nonvolatile memory (eNVM)’s “nonideal” device properties and benchmarked the tradeoffs between SRAM, digital, and analog eNVM-based architectures for online learning and offline classification. In palynology, the visual classification of pollen grains from different species is a hard task which is usually tackled by human operators using microscopes. Its complete automatization would save a high quantity of resources and provide valuable improvements especially for allergy-related information systems, but also for other application fields as paleoclimate reconstruction, quality control of honey based products, collection of evidences in criminal investigations or fabric dating and tracking. This paper presents three state-of-the-art deep learning classification methods applied to the recently published POLEN23E image dataset. The three methods make use of convolutional neural networks: the first one is strictly based on the idea of transfer learning, the second one is based on feature extraction and the third one represents a hybrid approach, combining transfer learning and feature extraction. The results from the three methods are indeed very good, reaching over 97% correct classification rates in images not previously seen by the models, where other authors reported around 70. Developing algorithms for solving high-dimensional partial differential equations (PDEs) has been an exceedingly difficult task for a long time, due to the notoriously difficult problem known as the "curse of dimensionality." This paper introduces a deep learning-based approach that can handle general highdimensional parabolic PDEs. To this end, the PDEs are reformulated using backward stochastic differential equations and the gradient of the unknown solution is approximated by neural networks, very much in the spirit of deep reinforcement learning with the gradient acting as the policy function. Numerical results on examples including the nonlinear Black-Scholes equation, the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equation, and the Allen-Cahn equation suggest that the proposed algorithm is quite effective in high dimensions, in terms of both accuracy and cost. This opens up possibilities in economics, finance, operational research, and physics, by considering all participating agents, assets, resources, or particles together at the same time, instead of making ad hoc assumptions on their interrelationships. Semantic segmentation tasks can be well modeled by Markov Random Field (MRF). This paper addresses semantic segmentation by incorporating high-order relations and mixture of label contexts into MRF. Unlike previous works that optimized MRFs using iterative algorithm, we solve MRF by proposing a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), namely Deep Parsing Network (DPN), which enables deterministic end-to-end computation in a single forward pass. Specifically, DPN extends a contemporary CNN to model unary terms and additional layers are devised to approximate the mean field (MF) algorithm for pairwise terms. It has several appealing properties. First, different from the recent works that required many iterations of MF during back-propagation, DPN is able to achieve high performance by approximating one iteration of MF. Second, DPN represents various types of pairwise terms, making many existing models as its special cases. Furthermore, pairwise terms in DPN provide a unified framework to encode rich contextual information in high-dimensional data, such as images and videos. Third, DPN makes MF easier to be parallelized and speeded up, thus enabling efficient inference. DPN is thoroughly evaluated on standard semantic image/video segmentation benchmarks, where a single DPN model yields state-of-the-art segmentation accuracies on PASCAL VOC 2012, Cityscapes dataset and CamVid dataset.
