Business education is witnessing a well-guarded scrutiny from all the stakeholders. The B-schools are regularly criticised for their irrelevance to the real world business practices. There is no tapering the gap found between academia and business. There is not much fundamental change in bridging this gap. Umpteen models are developed to enhance the effectiveness of business education; very few B-schools really have reached the milestone. Markets are changing faster than marketing. Business strategies taught in the classroom no longer comply with the boardrooms in the realistic corporate world. In this dynamic world of business knowledge, and to apply its wisdom in real time world, there is a requirement for proactive co-creation of knowledge between the business schools, business firms, as well as the student participants as learners. Learn, unlearn, and relearn is the order of the day, and how engaging is the business programme, translating the knowledge into skill-oriented or application-oriented activities, in sync with the real time business world, is the need of the hour. The paper is conceptual, exploring a rich literature review of scholarly research papers. The research is secondary research that scrutinises and analyses different literature, and based on the information acquired from the literature this paper makes a humble attempt to examine knowledge co-creation, in the form of indispensable knowledge, that is interfaced between the B-schools, business firms, and the learners. This editorial reviews current research about media entrepreneurship and introduces the four papers published in this special issue. These papers move the emerging academic field of media entrepreneurship forward by outlining the relevance of context for enhancing our understanding of entrepreneurial phenomena, by introducing the theoretical concept of ‘entrepreneuring as emancipation’, by analyzing the institutionalization of media entrepreneurship education, and by categorizing different investment types in corporate entrepreneurship. The central issue addressed by this paper is the determination of the attributes that companies in Antioquia demand from their managerial level officers. It derives from an empirical study whose objective was to recognize the opinion of top executives concerning the expectations companies have about the qualities of a good administrative officer. The research method used was qualitative, descriptive and exploratory in nature. The information was generated through a review of literature and in-depth interviews with top organization executives. The value-generating attributes that employers seek in their managers were determined; among them, humanistic formation was considered the most important one; technical knowledge is considered a rather hygienic factor. The results of the study lend themselves to be used as criteria for the analysis of business programs management, both at the undergraduate and MBA levels, when it comes to curricula reviews, teaching and learning methods and faculty development, all of which may contribute to achieve and/or further the competitive advantages of the institutions offering the programs and their graduates. This article seeks to provoke broader public discussion about ways in which human and ecologic dignity, prosperity, and the civic ideal can be advanced through a revitalized and principled ownership agenda that features greater levels of corporate accountability and civic virtue. It draws from portions of what then was called an "Occasional Paper," part of a series emanating from the early days of the University of Massachusetts Boston's McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies. Written in 1994, it introduces a new paradigm for corporate governance called the "corporate covenant," which casts ownership within the framework of citizenship. These "owner citizens" are in a position to influence corporate decision making and reduce public cynicism regarding corporate behavior. The article provides a brief overview of the history of the corporation and U.S. corporate governance (including corporate philanthropy), which illustrates some of the precedents for balancing claims to private and public prosperity. It touches on recent theological, corporate governance, and management literature in examining these ideas. It summarizes the views expressed in structured interviews conducted with fourteen individuals with considerable expertise in relevant areas (including shareholder activism, theology, state and local pension and endowment fund management, corporate operations, financial investing, and the practice of law). It concludes by highlighting some of the implications of the corporate covenant paradigm for shareholders, boards of directors, and management; business education; and public administration and social policy. It does this by identifying three problem areas warranting the attention of the covenantal promise: (1) education; (2) emerging democracies; and (3) the city. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper explores the relationship between socio-political institutions and tax composition in developing countries. It argues that strong business organisations and stable political party systems reduce the uncertainty of fiscal contracts for economic elites. The decrease in uncertainty leads elites to accept a larger share of the tax burden, which governments then collect using progressive tax types more intensively. To illustrate this claim, I provide evidence from a comparative analysis of the Peruvian and the Colombian tax history between 1970 and 2010. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
