The article presents a brief history of paper in relation to ink. Topics covered include the early appearance of paper based on papyrus and early forms of paper that existed in China, the spread of papermaking through the Islamic world, and the use of paper in Europe which came through Spain. Several advances in papermaking, including the development of the acid-free paper, are also cited.
