In this paper, the multi-physical field-circuit co-simulation method coupling the Maxwell's and drift diffusion equations is proposed for the analysis of electromagnetic energy selective surface (ESS). To alleviate the universal feature that multi-physics simulation is extremely time-consuming, the space mapping algorithm is consulted and introduced into the transient calculation process. Thus, the searches for a convergent solution in nonlinear equations are regarded as an optimization procedure, which employs the mapped equivalent model to replace the high-cost multi-physics equations calculation. This operation can considerably minimize the number of multi-physics equations that must be computed, improving analysis efficiency. The great accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method are demonstrated by numerical results. As a result, this approach is an alternative tool to examine electromagnetic-circuit systems, particularly in high-power microwave scenarios. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
