Aim: Patients' death or adverse events appear to be associated with poor healthcare decision‐making. This might be due to an inability to have an adequate representation of the problem or of the connections among problem‐related elements. Changing how a problem is formulated can reduce biases in clinical reasoning. The purpose of this article is to explore the possible contributions of psychoneuroendocrinoimmunology (PNEI) and psychology of reasoning and decision‐making (PRDM) to support a new nursing theoretical frame. Design: Discursive paper. Method: This article discusses the main assumptions about nursing and nurses' ability to face patient's problems, suggesting a new approach that integrates knowledge from PNEI and PRDM. While PNEI explains the complexity of systems, highlighting the importance of systems connections in affecting health, PRDM underlines the importance of the informative context in creating a mental representation of the problem. Furthermore, PRDM suggests the need to pay attention to information that is not immediately explicit and its connections. Conclusion: Nursing recognizes the patient–nurse relationship as the axiom that governs care. The integration of PNEI and PRDM in nursing theoretics allows the expansion of the axiom by providing essential elements to read a new type of relationship: the relationship among information. PNEI explains the relationships between biological systems and the psyche and between the whole individual and the environment; PRDM provides tools for the nurse's analytical thinking system to correctly process information and its connections. Impact on Nursing Practice: A theoretical renewal is mandatory to improve nursing reasoning and nursing priority identification. Background: The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) has long recognized and championed increasing diversity within the surgical workplace. SAGES initiated the Fundamentals of Leadership Development (FLD) Curriculum to address these needs and to provide surgeon leaders with the necessary tools and skills to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in surgical practice. In 2019, the American College of Surgeons issued a request for anti-racism initiatives which lead to the partnering of the two societies. The primary goal of FLD was to create the first surgeon-focused leadership curriculum dedicated to DEI. The rationale/development of this curriculum and its evaluation/feedback methods are detailed in this White Paper. Methods: The FLD curriculum was developed by a multidisciplinary task force that included surgeons, education experts, and diversity consultants. The curriculum development followed the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) instructional design model and utilized a problem-based learning approach. Competencies were identified, and specific learning objectives and assessments were developed. The implementation of the curriculum was designed to be completed in short intervals (virtual and in-person). Post-course surveys used the Kirkpatrick's model to evaluate the curriculum and provide valuable feedback. Results: The curriculum consisted of interactive online modules, an online discussion forum, and small group interactive sessions focused in three key areas: (1) increasing pipeline of underrepresented individuals in surgical leadership, (2) healthcare equity, and (3) conflict negotiation. By focusing on positive action items and utilizing a problem-solving approach, the curriculum aimed to provide a framework for surgical leaders to make meaningful changes in their institutions and organizations. Conclusion: The FLD curriculum is a novel leadership curriculum that provided surgeon leaders with the knowledge and tools to improve diversity in three areas: pipeline improvement, healthcare equity, and conflict negotiation. Peer-reviewed conferences, the main publication venues in CS, rely critically on matching highly qualified reviewers for each paper. Because of the growing scale of these conferences, the tight timelines on which they operate, and a recent surge in explicitly dishonest behavior, there is now no alternative to performing this matching in an automated way. This paper introduces Large Conference Matching (LCM) , a novel reviewer–paper matching approach that was recently deployed in the 35th AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI 2021), and has since been adopted (wholly or partially) by other conferences including ICML 2022, AAAI 2022-2024, and IJCAI 2022-2024. LCM has three main elements: (1) collecting and processing input data to identify problematic matches and generate reviewer–paper scores; (2) formulating and solving an optimization problem to find good reviewer–paper matchings; and (3) a two-phase reviewing process that shifts reviewing resources away from papers likely to be rejected and towards papers closer to the decision boundary. Action imagery describes a mental representation of an action and its consequences. Although it is widely recognized that people differ in their ability to imagine actions, objective validated tests to measure such differences are scarce. In search of an objective testing method for action imagery ability, the present study investigated whether solving mental paper-folding tasks involves action imagery. The stimuli were two-dimensional grids of six squares. A total of 99 participants mentally folded each grid into a three-dimensional cube to judge whether two highlighted lines in the grid overlapped in the imagined cube. This was done in two sessions of 214 judgements each, where the grids differed in overlaps, the least number of imagined folds, and the least number of imagined directional changes. Error rates and reaction times increased with the number of imagined folds and with the number of directional changes. Furthermore, more errors were committed with overlapping lines than with no overlaps. This was not reflected in the reaction times. Hence, the reaction times increased when the stepwise folding process was enlarged, but not when the final selection was more difficult. The increasing pressure on natural resources and the climate has been noted by businesses and governments worldwide, who now face the difficult task of integrating paths of environmental sustainability and economic growth. One promising approach to sustainable development, reducing the pressure on natural resources and solving waste problems is circular economy. From different ways of implementing circular economy, this study focuses on the productization of industrial side streams, which carry a great deal of underutilized potential. In this article, the productization of pulp and paper industry side stream, fiber sludge, for commercial use as a dust-binding agent is studied via a descriptive, in-depth case study. Apart from inconsistent quality, fluctuating supply, cost of storage and logistics, what makes industrial side stream utilization challenging is the lack of knowledge that stakeholders have about side streams and their utilization and the lack of new value chain development for their commercial use. Therefore, it is essential for all parties involved to have a clearer vision of what is being sold for what purposes, through productization. This study found that the productization of side streams follows the same steps as the productization of any other traditional product, and the productized side streams can be added to the company's product portfolio as by-products. Paper was one of the greatest inventions in ancient China, and it greatly promoted the rapid development of human civilization. Even in today's electronic information age, paper and paper‐derived products are still indispensable to people's daily work and life. However, the traditional paper based on cellulose fibers from plants has some problems. For instance: (1) papermaking consumes a large amount of precious natural resources such as trees; (2) the papermaking industry causes environmental pollution; (3) the traditional paper consisting of organic cellulose fibers is highly flammable and easy to burn; (4) the traditional paper based on cellulose fibers turns to yellow color with time; (5) the lifetime of the traditional paper is relatively short because of the degradation of cellulose fibers. More efforts are needed to investigate and solve these problems facing the traditional paper. In recent years, a new kind of multifunctional fire‐resistant paper based on ultralong hydroxyapatite nanowires has been developed and investigated for various applications, and many research findings have been documented in the literature. Purpose: With the aid of libraries, the research paper aims to assist businesses in swiftly and accurately acquiring knowledge and insights from scholarly literature to guide their inventive and decision-making processes. The foundation for achieving the goal is Connected Papers technology. Creativity is an important skill for engineers but many students face a lack of experience in idea generation, often compounded by low-self efficacy towards creativity. Providing students with online training modules has been suggested as one solution. However, the literature demonstrates using a computer can influence performance and self-efficacy in a different manner to using pen-and-paper. There is a current lack of research on whether computers may influence self-efficacy during idea generation tasks. Two experiments involving computer-based and pen-and-paper groups were designed. Groups were provided with templates that guided them through the process of applying an idea generation technique and were given sixteen minutes to generate ideas to solve a presented problem. Results revealed that students' performance was similar and using a computer does not negatively influence self-efficacy. This shows that students can engage in idea generation learning tasks using computer-based modes without negatively influencing performance or self-efficacy, suggesting an avenue for educators to engage students with building creativity skills. Distributed multitarget tracking (MTT) is suitable for sensors with limited field of view (FoV). Generalized covariance intersection (GCI) fusion is used to solve the MTT problem based on label probability hypothesis density (PHD) filtering in this paper. Because the traditional GCI fusion only has good fusion performance for the targets in the intersection of each sensor's FoV, and the targets outside the intersection range would be lost, this paper redivides the Gaussian components according to the FoV and distinguishes the Gaussian components of the targets inside and outside the intersection. GCI fusion is sensitive to label inconsistency between different sensors. For label fusion in the intersection region, the best match of labels is found by minimizing label inconsistency index, and then GCI fusion is performed. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed fusion method are verified by simulation, and its robustness is proved. (c)ρ is a subset of S and not a nonempty subset of S/ρ as it should be. Property (ii) has no sense in the way is written. In addition, according to the authors, as an application of the results of this paper they solved the open problem on ordered semihypergroups given by Davvaz, Corsini and Changphas in European J Combin 44 (2015). The problem is that the above mentioned problem has not been solved in the above mentioned article; we point out the reason, and we solve it in the present paper. Purpose: This study aims at implementing lean six sigma to evaluate the productivity and manufacturing wastes in the production line of a paper company Methodology/Approach: The study is a case study in nature. The method illustrates how lean six sigma (LSS) is used to evaluate the existing production process in a paper production company with focus on productivity and manufacturing wastes. The study considered a real-time problem of customer's dissatisfaction. Gathered data were based on machine functionality (up time, down time and cycle time); materials and labour flow at every process stage of the production line. The optimization of the production process was based on lean tools like value stream mapping, process cycle efficiency, Kaizen, 5S and pareto chart Findings: Based on lean six sigma application, it was discovered that the present production performance was below standard and more manufacturing wastes were generated. The present productivity and manufacturing wastes are reported as low process cycle efficiency (23.4 %), low takt time (4.11 sec), high lead time (43200sec), high number of products not conforming to six sigma values, high down time (32.64 %) and excess labour flow (33). After the implementation of the lean six sigma tools for certain periods, there were lots of improvements in the production lines in terms of all the parameters considered. Research Limitations/ Implications: The study has demonstrated application of lean six sigma in the case of solving real-time problems of productivity and manufacturing wastes which have a direct implication on customer's satisfaction. The lesson learnt and implications presented can still be further modeled using some lean based software for validity Originality/Value: The study has contributed to the body of knowledge in the field of LSS with focus to process-based manufacturing, unlike most literature in the field which concentrated more on discrete based manufacturing. Human technology interaction became the key driver for bringing new changes that improve the life wellbeing and solve society problems. In order to solve the problems of the current art circulation information is not transparent and the centralized trading authority is asymmetric, this paper proposed a art blockchain certificate traceability model based on three chains. First, in view of the large amount of data in a single piece of artwork information, this paper proposed a blockchain-based symmetric searchable encryption algorithm, and used the interplanetary file system to securely store artwork circulation records on-chain and off-chain. Secondly, for the characteristics of the increasing effective data of artwork information, this paper proposed a blockchain-based inverted fast query and traceability algorithm to help data users realize fast traceability and positioning. At the same time, this paper proposed for the first time that the false information alliance chain stores false art circulation records to realize the processing of false information. Finally, experiments verify the feasibility of the model for big data security storage and fast query traceability. Experiments show that the model is feasible and the query method is efficient. With the development of science and technology and the appearance of various special conditions that cause signers to be unable to sign, proxy signature is gradually becoming a hot spot in cryptography research. This paper combines proxy signature, quantum teleportation, and multi-party verification and proposes a multi-party verifiable quantum proxy signature scheme based on quantum teleportation. This scheme has the following characteristics: The authentication method based on the H a s h function can effectively solve the problem of identity identification among members; in order for the proxy signer to be able to verify the correctness of the proxy authorization, a form of proxy signature authorization that concatenates the identity information of the original signer is used. Abstract Successful problem solving relies on the availability of suitable mental representations of the task domain. Especially for more complex problems, there might be a wide variety of possible problem representations, and it might even be beneficial to change them during problem solving. In a first part, we argue that investigating the dynamics of understanding in terms of dynamically changing problem representations is an underexplored aspect of problem solving research, and that most classic tasks even preclude the opportunity of such dynamics to occur. Continuing this theoretical discussion, as an illustrative example of a task designed for the exploration of such representational dynamics, the second part of the paper discusses a novel, complex spatial transformation and problem solving task. In this task, one is asked to repeatedly mentally cross-fold a sheet of paper, and to predict the resulting sheet geometry without the use of external aids. Through its deliberate openness and difficulty, this task requires finding new and more efficient representations – ranging from kinaesthetic and visuospatial imagery to symbolic notions. As the increasing trend of global consumption of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), the recycling of WEEE has been thought highly of. In order to solve the problems of high economic cost, environmental detrimental caused by improper recycling, ignorance of social benefits of recycling, uncertain recycling amount and single recycling channel in recycling process of WEEE, this paper proposes a sustainable multi-objective WEEE double recycling channel fuzzy programming model based on triple bottom line (TBL) theory. First of all, TBL is used to develop sustainable multi-objective recycling models concerning economy, environment and society. Secondly, the model is fuzzed. This process includes two steps: the first step is to take WEEE recycling quantity as a triangular fuzzy parameter, and use fuzzy chance constraint method to transform fuzzy constraint into an equivalent clear condition; the second step is to fuzzify suboptimal objective in the model by defining objective membership degree, and transform multi-objective optimization problem into a single-objective optimization problem based on the maximum satisfaction. Finally, taking a recycling enterprise in Shantou, China, as an example, genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) are comparatively used to solve a calculation case related to the model and the contribution of the model is verified by comparing economic cost, environmental impact and social benefits of the dual recycling channels. Background. Until recently, information behaviour scholars have mainly focused on the workplace or educational settings, and defined information as either a tool for problem solving or a means to satisfy needs. This, however, only represents a partial picture of a larger horizon. In some arenas of life, such as serious leisure, people do not seek information to necessarily solve a problem or satisfy an urgent need. They look for information to enjoy a hobby or participate in an entirely voluntary activity. Objectives. The paper introduces transcendental information as a subjective and contextual concept to provide insights on lesser explored corners of the information behaviour scholarship. This concept is compared with existing theories and concepts in the information behaviour area. Method. This conceptual paper is based on a critical literature review of human information behaviour, and reflects on some key concepts in the field, including the nature of information, information needs, information seeking and sharing. The paper also provides a selective literature review of the serious leisure perspective to contextualise the analysis. Results. It is found that transcendental information usually has an aesthetic and intellectual essence. It may be expressed in various imaginative forms and can appear in different non-textual and embedded formats. Moreover, it can generate joyful and inspiring impacts. The aim of the present note is to discuss Problem 2 and Problem 5 on the IMO’2019 paper. The 60th edition of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) took place in the city of Bath, United Kingdom, 11-22 July 2019, with the participation of 621 students from 112 countries. The event is the most prestigious scientific Olympiad for high school students. Problem 2 and Problem 5 are of mean difficulty on the paper. Problem 2 was solved frilly (7 points) by 98 participants, 92 students were marked with 6 points, 3 with 5 points, 6 with 4 points, 6 with 3 points, 30 with 2 points, 135 with 1 point and 251 with 0 points. The mean result of all the 621 participants in the Olympiad is 2,399. Analogously, Problem 5 was solved frilly (7 points) by 250 participants, 3 students were marked with 6 points, 7 with 5 points, 5 with 4 points, 12 with 3 points, 168 with 2 points, 20 with 1 point and 156 with 0 points. The aim of the present note is to discuss Problem 3 on the IMO’2019 paper. The 60th edition of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) took place in the city of Bath, United Kingdom, 11–22 July 2019, with the participation of 621 students from 112 countries. The event is the most prestigious scientific Olympiad for high school students. Problem 3 is one of the difficult ones on the paper. It was solved fully (7 points) by 28 participants, 4 students were marked with 6 points, 9 with 5 points, 5 with 4 points, 6 with 3 points, 3 with 2 points, 46 with 1 point and 520 with 0 points. Introduction: Executive functions develop, particularly in the first 5 years of life. This study aimed to investigate the executive functions in Persian typically-developing (TD) children aged 4 to 6 years. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 50 children (21 girls and 29 boys) participated. Executive functions (planning/problem solving, inhibition, shifting, and working memory) were measured by various performance-based tests (the Tower of London, Go/No-Go, Dimensional Change Card Sorting task (DCCS), forward Digit Span (FDS), Backward Digit Span (BDS) and Non-Word Repetition (NWR) and Behavior Rating Inventory Of Executive Function (BRIEF) questionnaire). After collecting the data, they were entered into SPSS version 16.0, and data analysis was done by Mann-Whitney U test and two-tailed Spearman test. The significant level was set at 0.05. Results: Regarding the age groups, 5-year-old children were significantly better than 4-year-old children in FDS and BDS, and regarding gender groups, performance-based tests were not significantly different between girls and boys but in the BRIEF questionnaire as parents reported, boys were significantly had better performance in daily life. BRIEF questionnaires in the boy’s group were correlated with FDS, BDS, the Tower of London, Go/No-Go, and DCCS. In the girl’s group, the BRIEF questionnaire was correlated with NWR and DCCS. In 4-year-old children, the BRIEF questionnaire was correlated with FDS, BDS, Go/No-Go, and DCCS. In 5-year-old children, the BRIEF questionnaire was correlated with BDS, the Tower of London, Go/No-Go, and DCCS. Conclusion: It seems that TD children between the ages of 4-6 years can have different working memories but does not differ in skills such as problem-solving, shifting, and inhibition. The model of a photoacoustic gas-microphone signal in the time domain recorded in a transmission configuration using a minimum volume cell is derived. This model takes into account the inertial thermal relaxations of both the sample and the gas filling the cell by means of the generalized hyperbolic theory of heat conduction. With the introduction of electro-thermal analogy for the thin sample and short microphone length cavity, characteristic quantities are defined, which can be used in solving the inverse problem in time-domain photoacoustic in both cases, when thermal relaxations are neglected as well as when they are considered. The derived model that includes thermal relaxation explains the experimentally observed occurrence of overshoots and undershoots as well as an oscillatory approach to the steady values of the recorded signal in high-resolution time-domain photoacoustic measurements of thin semiconductor membranes, which will be presented in detail in Paper II of the paper. The study was to verify for older adults, the applicability of a recently developed measure of everyday problem solving, a performance-based observed assessment (the Chinese Version of Observed Tasks of Daily Living [OTDL-C]), by comparing with two other measures—a self-report questionnaire and a paper–pencil test. Totally 183 older adults (aged 60–84 years) completed demographic questionnaires and three everyday problem-solving assessments. All assessments measured the same instrumental domains of daily life (medication use, phone use, electric appliance use, and financial management). We observed significant differences in inter-individual variation, and found significant differences in the effects of age and education level on OTDL-C performance compared with self-report and paper–pencil measure performance. Additionally, the inter-individual variance was significantly greater for the OTDL-C and paper–pencil test than for the self-report questionnaire. Age remained a significant predictor of OTDL-C performance after controlling the scores of the self-report and the paper–pencil measures. Education level had more consistent effects on the total score and each domain score of the OTDL-C compared to the other two measures. Overall, our finding indicated that the OTDL-C had greater inter-individual variation, might be a more sensitive tool for examining age-related differences in the ability to solve everyday problem, and could be more applicable to older populations with diverse education levels compared to the self-report and the paper–pencil measures. This paper proposed an electronic voting scheme based on one-time ring signature and blockchain to solve the problems of the current e-voting system in terms of anonymity, transparency and open vote-counting. This paper introduced one-time ring signature, blockchain and stealth address technology. The blockchain technology could ensure the openness and transparency of the e-voting system. Background: In example‐based learning, examples are often combined with generative activities, such as comparative self‐explanations of example cases. Comparisons induce heavy demands on working memory, especially in complex domains. Hence, only stronger learners may benefit from comparative self‐explanations. While static text‐based examples can be compared easily, this is challenging for transient video‐based modelling examples used in complex domains because simultaneous processing of two videos is not feasible. Objectives: To allow for such comparisons, we combined video‐based modelling examples with static representations (i.e., summarizing tables) of the observed optimal and a suboptimal solution of the problem‐solving process. A comparative self‐explanation prompt asked learners to compare the different solution approaches. Our study investigated the impact of video‐based modelling examples versus independent problem‐solving on cognitive load and problem‐solving skill development. Moreover, we investigated the effects of comparative versus sequential self‐explanation prompts, depending on learners' prior knowledge. Methods: In an experiment, 118 automotive apprentices learned a car malfunction diagnosis strategy. Apprentices were divided into three groups: (1) modelling examples with comparative self‐explanation prompts, (2) modelling examples with sequential prompts, and (3) no examples or prompts. Diagnostic knowledge and skills were assessed before and after the intervention. Cognitive load was measured retrospectively. Results and conclusions: Despite no observed effects on cognitive load, modelling examples enhanced diagnostic knowledge and diagnostic skills with scaffolds, though not independent diagnostic skills without scaffolds. The need for more practice opportunities to foster independent diagnostic skills is assumed. Additionally, comparative prompts seem promising for learners with higher prior knowledge. Takeaways: Video‐based modelling examples were more beneficial for learning than practising to apply the diagnostic strategy. Background Study: Asynchronous online discussions are vital venues for collaborative knowledge construction. However, the lack of appropriate instruction designs poses challenges in promoting deep and substantive engagement with the core subject matter. This paper explores how to enhance adult students' knowledge construction in the context of asynchronous online discussions at an open university in Taiwan. Objectives: This study explores instructional designs aimed at promoting online knowledge construction among adult students and overcoming barriers to this process. Methods: This study used a convergent parallel mixed methods design to collect concurrently both quantitative data from the students' online discussion postings for content analysis and qualitative data from the focus group and individual interviews, the online open‐ended questionnaire, and the instructor's observation logs for thematic analysis. Then the results were merged in the interpretation stage. Results and Conclusion: The research highlights the significance of instructional designs in influencing students' level of knowledge construction during online discussions. The findings suggest that instructional designs that provide teacher‐led interim summaries, pose Socratic questions, and incorporate problem‐solving projects can promote higher‐level knowledge construction. However, time constraints, cultural influences, and unfamiliarity with peers negatively affected higher‐order knowledge construction. To address these challenges, culturally responsive and technologically inclusive instructional designs that take into account the specific challenges faced by adult learners are proposed to enhance learning outcomes through active participation. Background: Mindfulness practices enhance executive function skills and academic achievement, spurring interest in integrating mindfulness interventions into education. Embedding mindfulness practice into a digital math game may provide a low‐cost, scalable way to induce mindfulness and boost game‐based learning, yet this approach remains unexplored. Objectives: We investigated the learning benefits of integrating mindfulness exercises in a digital math learning game and examined how students' trait mindfulness might moderate the outcomes. Methods: Two classroom studies were conducted with 404 5th and 6th grade students from six public schools in the U.S. (nStudy 1 = 227, nStudy 2 = 177). The two randomized controlled experiments assigned students to one of the three conditions: passive control (playing the digital learning game Decimal Point), story‐enriched active control, or mindfulness‐enriched condition. Trait mindfulness, learning gains, and in‐game problem‐solving (including problem‐solving duration, error count and correctness after reminder) were assessed. Study 2 included a manipulation check to better understand the effects of the mindfulness intervention. Results: Findings showed no significant differences in learning gains, problem‐solving duration or error count among the conditions. Students' trait mindfulness did not moderate these outcomes. Mindfulness reminders in the mindfulness‐enriched game led to more correct answers after errors than jokes in the story‐enriched game. Study 2 revealed that we failed to induce higher state mindfulness through the mindfulness inductions. Conclusions: Mindfulness prompts could be especially beneficial for students experiencing frustration during gameplay, warranting more exploration for digital game‐based instruction. In this paper we link between two scholarly traditions that share the goal of understanding how people accomplish the achievement of living together: linguistic-politeness and diplomacy. We look at a specific speech event—presidential introductory conversations during credential ceremonies, in which the interlocutors are simultaneously talking on behalf of themselves and the states they represent. On the basis of 23 introductory conversations at Israel's presidential residence. We aim to understand how good relations are cultivated in diplomatic conversations and the resources and strategies hosting presidents and foreign ambassadors employ to establish amicable interpersonal and interstate relations. The infusion of elite discourse, institutional discourse, and initial interactions brought forth in our study a gamut of bonding strategies applied in the process of rapport management between state representatives. The president and ambassadors did their best to avoid sensitive issues and managed the attending audience as a resource for enhancing interpersonal relations, advancing the interaction, and solving problems at both the interstate and interpersonal levels. In multi‐agent systems, most commonly, consensus consists in all agents converging to a common equilibrium point. For nonholonomic vehicles, which move on a Cartesian plane and occupy a physical space, it is more appropriate to speak of consensus‐based formation, which implies that the vehicles are required to converge to a relative position in a given formation while, distributively, agreeing on the center of such formation and on their orientation. In this paper we solve such a problem via a smooth, time‐varying, output‐feedback control; more precisely, without velocity measurements. In addition, and this is our main contribution, the controller is designed to satisfy pre‐imposed bounds to avoid input saturation. To the best of the authors' knowledge this is the first controller that solves the consensus‐based formation problem in networks of nonholonomic vehicles via a bounded, output‐feedback controller. Operations Research (OR) is a branch of applied mathematics that deals with optimization problems arising from different real contexts. The solving process of its problems is based on the construction and resolution of mathematical models, showing the possible connections between mathematics and the real world. Nevertheless, OR is not typically included in most curricula of higher secondary schools (i.e. Grades 9–12), but it is usually presented mainly at university level. To show how OR could be significant for these school students' education, the authors of this paper developed an educational project consisting of three teaching units. In this paper, we share the result of the teaching experiment related to the first unit, addressed to Grade 10. Qualitative and quantitative analyses show how it is appropriate to include OR and its typology of problems in regular school mathematics lectures. Second, these data also show how modelling and problem-solving skills, developed working with OR, can be fostered by implementing a collaborative way of working, also by making use of digital technologies. In transportation, roads sometimes have cracks due to overloading and other reasons, which seriously affect driving safety, and it is crucial to identify and fill road cracks in time. Aiming at the defects of existing semantic segmentation models that have degraded the segmentation performance of road crack images and the standard convolution makes it challenging to capture the spatial and channel coupling relationship between pixels. It is difficult to differentiate crack pixels from background pixels in complex backgrounds; this paper proposes a semantic segmentation model for road cracks that combines channel-spatial convolution with the aggregation of frequency features. A new convolutional block is proposed to accurately identify cracked pixels by grouping spatial displacements and convolutional kernel weight dynamization while modeling pixel spatial relationships linked to channel features. To enhance the contrast of crack edges, a frequency domain feature aggregation module is proposed, which uses a simple windowing strategy to solve the problem of mismatch of frequency domain inputs and, at the same time, takes into account the effect of the frequency imaginary part on the features to model the deep frequency features effectively. Finally, a feature refinement module is designed to refine the semantic features to improve the segmentation accuracy. In recent years, with a large number of distributed energy sources connected to the grid, the distribution network has shown a clear trend towards the use of power electronics. As a power conversion interface, the stability of the converter's interaction with the grid has received considerable attention. Adequate admittance (impedance) modeling of the three‐phase grid‐connected converter is a prerequisite for analyzing the stability and resonance characteristics of the grid‐connected system. Understanding the internal mechanisms and proposing effective solutions are crucial to enable power systems to effectively cope with the impact of power electronics. Therefore, by studying the admittance equivalence relationship and equivalent circuit of three‐phase AC systems in various coordinate systems, this paper focuses on solving the non‐uniqueness problem of impedance admittance modeling of three‐phase converter system. It is proposed that the input admittance of the three‐phase asymmetrical system in the dq and fb rotating coordinate systems is a 2‐order matrix and equivalent. The input admittance of the three‐phase unbalanced system in the αβ and “12” static coordinate systems is a 4‐order matrix and equivalent. From both theoretical analysis and simulation verification, it is shown that the number of eigenvalues of the three‐phase asymmetrical system in the stationary coordinate system is twice that in the rotating coordinate system, and the overall damping of the system is improved. The control strategy based on the stationary coordinate system will make the system more stable. The second contribution of this paper is to establish the equivalent circuit of the three‐phase symmetric converter system by the node admittance matrix and extend it to the multi‐machine system to explain the system instability mechanism by the circuit resonance mechanism. Finally, the frequency coupling phenomenon is studied for the three‐phase asymmetrical converter system, and it is explained that it cannot establish an equivalent circuit similar to the three‐phase symmetrical converter system. Spatial thinking is essential for nurturing spatially literate graduates in tertiary education. However, there is limited research on individual differences in cognitive processes and their impact on spatial problem solving in disciplinary contexts. This study aimed to investigate cognitive processes involved in spatial thinking in geography majors using a web‐based geographic information systems (GIS) mapping tool. The results revealed three clusters characterised by distinctive cognitive processes: spatial analytic, spatial diagrammatic and alternative. Each cluster adopted unique spatial strategies to solve problems with web‐based GIS. Notably, spatial analytic learners demonstrated the most optimal profile, resulting in high spatial task performance. These findings have implications for maximising students' learning potential in spatial thinking in the tertiary classroom, optimising performance outcomes in spatial problem solving and building intelligent tutoring systems for adaptive learning. With the continuous development of information technology, ensuring information security has become an important issue. As a widely used multimedia tool, images often face the risk of leakage. Therefore, this paper proposes an image encryption algorithm based on 2D-SAHM chaotic system and a new DNA operation rule. The algorithm first constructs a new chaotic system 2D-SAHM, which has better chaotic characteristics and can generate more random chaotic sequences than the traditional low-dimensional chaotic system. And then, on the basis of this system, the algorithm scrambles and diffuses the image. In the scrambling stage, the whole image is converted into a one-dimensional pixel matrix and divided into several sub-images by double Joseph scrambling. In the diffusion stage, to solve the problem that traditional DNA encryption relies too much on chaotic sequences, this paper proposes a new DNA operation rule. This rule determines the operation symbol of DNA by the type of amino acid, which improves the randomness of the algorithm. To solve the control problem of time-varying state-scale nonlinear systems whose initial state is not affected by settling time, fixed-time convergence algorithms are proposed for first-order systems and higher-order systems in this paper. First, a scalar model is used to illustrate how the time-varying feedback parameter can guarantee that the system achieves asymptotic stability while achieving finite-time convergence, and it is proved that the settling time obtained in this paper is only related to the prescribed boundary. This allows us to design the settling time with an appropriate parameter based on the prescribed boundary. To exhibit the effectiveness and extensibility of the proposed algorithm for first-order scalar systems, the results are subsequently extended to general higher-order systems based on the backstepping method. By introducing numerical simulation results, this paper verifies that the proposed algorithm will make the system achieve asymptotic stability and its output can converge to a given boundary, regardless of the system's initial states. This paper proposes a new hybrid control strategy to solve the problem of bidirectional wide voltage range regulation in CLLC converters. On the (LLC) side (G2V direction), the SSSA control method is employed for voltage boost, combined with bus voltage and burst control to achieve wide voltage regulation. On the (C) side (V2G direction), the SSSA and full/half‐bridge mode switching control are used to achieve V2G direction wide voltage regulation. This hybrid control strategy also enables high conversion efficiency in both directions without the need for additional components to reduce the converter power density. This is particularly suitable for OBC applications with strict requirements for converter volume and weight. A detailed analysis with mathematical derivation, hybrid control strategy, and converter operation principles is introduced in this paper. The following subchapters supplement the converter voltage gain, soft switching implementation conditions, and design considerations. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed control strategy was verified through an experimental prototype with an input voltage ranging from 340 to 430 V to an output voltage ranging from 225 to 450 V and bidirectional rated power of 6.6/3.3 kW. This paper contains the solution to the problem of a semi-infinite moving crack situated in an orthotropic strip bonded between two identical strips. The crack moves with a constant velocity, and the surface is under shear wave disturbance. We first examine the equations of elasticity, which include equilibrium equations and stress and displacement constitutive relations with the model-specific continuity and boundary conditions. Using the Fourier integral transform, the standard form for the Wiener–Hopf (W-H) equation is obtained, which is solved using the W-H method. The analytical expressions for the considered crack problem have been obtained for stress intensity factor (SIF), normalized stress intensity factor (NSIF), and stress magnification factor (SMF). The behavior of NSIF has been graphically presented for particular cases of composite materials for different crack propagation velocities and various depth ratios of the strips. The novelty of this paper lies in the analytic solutions using the W-H method for the semi-infinite moving crack problem under the influence of anti-plane shear waves. In this paper, we propose an area classification method based on target leveling height for the special working mode of truss-type grain leveling robot, simplify the 3D map to a 2D map, reduce the difficulty of path planning, and improve the working efficiency. Based on multi-level path planning and genetic algorithm to achieve the planning of the working path of the grain-leveling robot, it solves the problem of a large number of useless trips under the adoption of full-coverage operation. It saves a lot of time, improves grain-leveling efficiency, reduces energy consumption, optimizes the effect of grain-leveling, and helps realize the precise storage operation of grain silos. The experiment of rough leveling operation was carried out through the grain leveling robot prototype and the simulated experimental warehouse, and the results show that the height difference between the peak of the grain surface and the target leveling height is within 5 cm, which verifies that the path planning method in this paper is feasible, and shows that the grain leveling robot can complete the task of grain leveling and the effect is good. The application of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education in solving real-world problems is challenging. To tackle this challenge, a project-based learning approach that integrates robots with cost-effective self-made toys to problem-solving was adopted to assist rural primary school students to apply STEM skills. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of the project-based learning approach which includes lecturing and hands-on activities on primary school students' STEM learning outcomes and attitudes. An experiment was conducted with 25 primary school students who voluntarily participated in a STEM summer-camp programme. Students were asked to assemble a paper house equipped with an IoT control module and LED light switches, and write and edit robot scripts to produce a robot-based storytelling narrative using the paper house they made as a context. The results show that the project-based learning approach was an effective approach for cultivating primary school students' STEM knowledge and skills as evidenced from the post-written test. The relationships between the students' STEM learning outcomes and attitudes were also confirmed by a clustering analysis. Students who had higher learning attitudes also achieved higher STEM learning outcomes; the findings are also supported by the feedback from the open-ended questionnaire items. This study suggests that integrating low-cost self-made toys and robots in project-based learning activities is an effective and practical approach to enhance primary school students' learning outcomes and learning attitudes in STEM education. Critical chain buffer management (CCBM) has been extensively studied in recent years. This paper investigates a new formulation of CCBM, the multimode chance-constrained CCBM problem. A flow-based mixed-integer linear programming model is described and the chance constraints are tackled using a scenario approach. A reinforcement learning (RL)-based algorithm is proposed to solve the problem. A factorial experiment is conducted and the results of this study indicate that solving the chance-constrained problem produces shorter project durations than the traditional approach that inserts time buffers into a baseline schedule generated by solving the deterministic problem. This paper also demonstrates that our RL method produces competitive schedules compared to established benchmarks. The importance of solving the chance-constrained problem and obtaining a project buffer tailored to the desired probability of completing the project on schedule directly from the solution is highlighted. Because of its potential for generating shorter schedules with the same on-time probabilities as the traditional approach, this research can be a useful aid for decision makers. This paper considers the adaptive two-bit-triggered containment control problem for nonlinear multi-agent systems in the presence of input saturation. Since input saturation occurs frequently in practical systems, which can affect the stability of the multi-agent systems under consideration, an auxiliary design system is introduced to address this issue. Meanwhile, considering limited transmission resources in practical systems, this paper mainly focuses on the triggering condition and the control signal transmission bits, presenting a two-bit-triggered control approach to optimize the utilization of transmission resources. Hypergeometric functions of one and many variables play an important role in various branches of modern physics and mathematics. We often encounter hypergeometric functions with indices linearly dependent on a small parameter with respect to which we need to perform Laurent expansions. Moreover, it is desirable that such expansions be expressed in terms of well-known functions that can be evaluated with arbitrary precision. To solve this problem, we use the method of differential equations and the reduction of corresponding differential systems to a canonical basis. In this paper, we are interested in the generalized hypergeometric functions of one variable and in the Appell and Lauricella functions and their expansions in terms of the Goncharov polylogarithms. Particular attention is paid to the case of rational indices of the considered hypergeometric functions when the reduction to the canonical basis involves a nontrivial variable change. This paper proposes a method for detecting the angle of a bearingless motor with less magnetic interference due to the current. Bearingless motors have suspension windings and motor windings that generate leakage flux. Owing to this electromagnetic phenomenon, the signal of the linear Hall‐effect sensor for angle detection is disturbed, and it has to be avoided to place Hall sensors near the winding conventionally. To solve this interference problem, this paper clarifies the ideal combinations between sensor positions and the number of poles and slots of concentrated winding bearingless motors. In order to solve the huge impact of the digital information age on many technical and industrial fields, a periodic fast search genetic algorithm is proposed. Based on the reconnaissance mission, this paper introduces the common allocation strategy into mission planning, and constructs the mathematical model of multi unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) cooperative reconnaissance mission planning decision‐making. The proposed periodic fast search genetic algorithm is used to solve the problem of multi UAV cooperative reconnaissance mission planning. In 2020, the industry growth rate of global UAV technology expenditure was as high as 30.6%, and the compound growth rate of UAV in China reached 63.5%, which is enough to see the great prospect of the integrated development of UAV technology and different industries. The experiment evaluates the log verification module of UAV by comparing the two data structures of Merkle tree and linear, and the time and memory overhead of storing and verifying logs, which shows the effectiveness of the log verification scheme in this paper. A recent paper (Zhang R, Yu X. Traveling waves for a four‐compartment lattice epidemic system with exposed class and standard incidence. Math Meth Appl Sci. 2022; 45: 113‐136) presented a four‐compartment lattice epidemic system with exposed class and standard incidence. The authors studied the existence and non‐existence of traveling wave solutions of this system. However, the limit behavior of R$$ R $$‐component of traveling wave solutions is still open. In this paper, we solve this open problem and establish the boundedness of traveling wave solutions by analysis technique.
