Abstract

The article presents information about the book "Creative Intuition in Art and Poetry," by Jacques Maritain. The book is now made available in a low-priced paper back edition, is the latest in a series of works published in recent years that have given new life to the almost defunct discipline of aesthetics. Philosophers were exclusively concerned with problems arising from the methodology of the physical sciences, and when art was not looked on as a superior form of amusement, it was relegated to the status of a decidedly inferior form of pseudo-scientific knowledge.

Abstract

In this article, the author discusses the need of censorship of television. The producers cheerfully ignore the complaints against vulgarity on television because they know they have got the audience. They are exploiting something deep in society. Writer Charles Winick, in his paper, "Taste and the Censor in Television," catalogues in detail the incredible and silly restrictions. Since presenting Blacks realistically is strong medicine for sponsors who cannot afford to have their names scrawled on walls in the South, and the various organizations defending Blacks have quite rightly persuaded producers to stop showing them solely as buffoons, television acts as though the Blacks had gone away.
