The article presents the selected papers from the Council for Exceptional Children International Convention in April 1970. These documents are available through the ERIC Document Reproduction Service. The papers can be reproduced hardcopy and pamphlet forms. The documents have been organized by the ten topic areas including "Workshop: The Team Approach to the Use of Educational Media," by Dolph C. This study emphasizes the dynamism of the enterprise approach in manufacturing geography and the elusive quality of the milieu concept. It identifies the facilitating and restraining conditioning elements of the changing milieu of a large shipbuilding firm which, form 1950 to 1964, the period analyzed, comprised a major though rapidly declining part of the export base of Northern Ireland. The paper suggests that the local region provided a relatively permissive milieu for the firm, though it offered few opportunities for diversification. Competitive difficulties that arose during the period came mainly from the changing international milieu, especially movements in the composition of world demand and the appearance of Japanese suppliers. These difficulties were suggested in part to reflect the condition of the firm's internal resources, but they were increasingly assigned to the state of its national milieu. Also outlined are some of the firm's adoptive and adaptive features and the form of its adverse impact, including through multiplier effects, on the development of the local region.

This study uses a variety of methods-reactive and unobtrusive--to operationalize the filtering of information during an innovative decision process by a gatekeeper. Specific data are presented on gatekeeping within the focal organization and also between the focal organization and other organizations in its organization set. Theoretically, the paper explores the increased possibilities for filtering information under the uncertain conditions of an innovative decision. Power is discussed both in terms of the resources which form the base of an actor's power and also the tactics of resource use. The focus on decision making as a political process provides an emphasis lacking in current organizational studies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The section features some information sources on sociology of religion. The book, Le Bouddha et sam message, by M. Abbé Delahoutre was written with the purpose of introducing Buddhisms to the Christian world, which is slowly realizing its existent in the other world, and of creating a clearer picture of its distinguishing features from other eastern religions. It presents a survey of the most important data of Buddha's life, placed against the background of his days, of his doctrine, of its later development into three different forms, and of the significance of Buddhism in the various countries of the Far East. Both the present day situation of Buddhism and is contacts with the West are indicates. A summary comparison with the Christian religion concludes the work. The book, In a Strange Land. A Report of a World Conference on Problems if International Migration and the Responsibility of the Churches, centers among the problems posed to the churches that of the migration of Africans and Asiatics. The introductory articles by B. C. H. Sjollema and P. de Jong are followed by the text of papers by Dudley Kirk, Clarence Senior, Marcus Daly, J. Norris, Henry Makula and others. The report concludes with the resolutions taken at the congress and six recommendations to the churches.

This paper highlights results of the work accomplished in the documentation of facts concerned with migration and the sources of information that have been explored and judged useful for Catholic planning and research. In conformity with the aims assigned to it by the statutes of the International Catholic Migration Commission (I.C.M.C.), the I.C.M.C. Information Centre was created in Geneva, Switzerland in 1952. More than 150 periodicals from different countries, particularly from immigration countries, were received regularly in 1953. The best publications on population matters including different aspects of migration have been written for the Institut National d'Etudes Démographiques by eminent professors and population specialists, both French and of other nationalities. From the Catholic point of view, population problems have been considerably elucidated by the eminent Australian economist, now in Oxford, England Colin Clark. The agricultural problem in Venezuela has also been examined from different point of views in the publications of the Instituto Agrario Nacional. Only a few studies on European emigration from the national and economic angle have been published. A curious sociological fact has been noted in the Netherlands concerning the religious composition of emigration groups.
