In today's fast-paced and ever-changing environment, the need for algorithms with enhanced global optimization capability has become increasingly crucial due to the emergence of a wide range of optimization problems. To tackle this issue, we present a new algorithm called Random Particle Swarm Optimization (RPSO) based on cosine similarity. RPSO is evaluated using both the IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC) 2022 test dataset and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) classification experiments. The RPSO algorithm builds upon the traditional PSO algorithm by incorporating several key enhancements. Firstly, the parameter selection is adapted and a mechanism called Random Contrastive Interaction (RCI) is introduced. This mechanism fosters information exchange among particles, thereby improving the ability of the algorithm to explore the search space more effectively. Secondly, quadratic interpolation (QI) is incorporated to boost the local search efficiency of the algorithm. RPSO utilizes cosine similarity for the selection of both QI and RCI, dynamically updating population information to steer the algorithm towards optimal solutions. In the evaluation using the CEC 2022 test dataset, RPSO is compared with recent variations of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and top algorithms in the CEC community. The results highlight the strong competitiveness and advantages of RPSO, validating its effectiveness in tackling global optimization tasks. Additionally, in the classification experiments with optimizing CNNs for medical images, RPSO demonstrated stability and accuracy comparable to other algorithms and variants. The Kelvin relation, relating the Seebeck coefficient and the Peltier coefficient, is a theoretical basis of thermoelectricity. It was first derived by Kelvin using a quasi-thermodynamic approach. However, Kelvin's approach was subjected to much criticism due to the rude neglect of irreversible factors. It was only later that a seemingly plausible proof of the Kelvin relation was given using the Onsager reciprocal relation with full consideration of irreversibility. Despite this, a critical issue remains. It is believed that the Seebeck and Peltier effects are thermodynamically reversible, and therefore, the Kelvin relation should also be independent of irreversibility. Kelvin's quasi-thermodynamic approach, although seemingly irrational, may well have touched on the essence of thermoelectricity. To avoid Kelvin's dilemma, this study conceives the physical scenarios of equilibrium thermodynamics to explore thermoelectricity. Unlike Kelvin's quasi-thermodynamic approach, here, a completely reversible thermodynamic approach is used to establish the reciprocal relations of thermoelectricity, on the basis of which the Kelvin relation is once again derived. Moreover, a direct thermodynamic derivation of the Onsager reciprocal relations for fluxes defined as the time derivative of an extensive state variable is given using the method of equilibrium thermodynamics. As the basic unit and micro-site of grassroots governance, rural communities are facing many cultural obstacles that restrict rural modernization. Focused on rural communities, this study sorts out the requirements of Chinese-style modernization on rural communities and the actual performance of coping with the cultural obstacles of Chinese-style modernization. It finds that the causes of these cultural dilemmas are mainly due to the disconnection of the system in the process of modernization, the deviation between concept penetration and the actual situation. On this basis, this paper proposes the corresponding cultural solution strategies. These strategies start from the top-level design of the national system, cultivate the concept of modern cultural inheritance, construct a modern cultural development system, shape a modern cultural integration mechanism, and improve modern cultural governance and service models. Hybrid energy harvesting systems are broadly applied in various fields due to the advantage of improving energy harvesting efficiency. In actual environment, there are many complex phenomena exhibiting jump, flights, rare transition features, and intermittent features, which can be described by systems subjected to non-Gaussian Lévy process. Sometimes, it is difficult to build mathematical models of complex hybrid energy harvesting systems precisely, especially for those driven by non-Gaussian Lévy noise. With the development of simulation capabilities and observing techniques recently, massive noise measurement data or simulating data can be feasibly obtained and there are many existing techniques devoted to discovering governing laws from abundant data. In this paper, we aim to extract the system equations from observed data influenced by non-Gaussian Lévy noise via using a data-driven method. The expressions of drift term, diffusion term and Lévy term can be approximated with the help of Fokker-Planck equation and non-local Kramers-Moyal formulae, and the coefficients of the expressions are learned by utilizing a sparse regression approach in the least square sense. Three examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method. Results show that the approach can well be applied to not only hybrid energy harvesting systems under Gaussian Brownian process but also the systems subjected to non-Gaussian Lévy process. Additionally, the relations between the demarcation parameter and an indicator denoted as Ratio for different time steps are analyzed, and results demonstrate that the indicator can be regarded as the criterion of selecting the appropriate demarcation parameter. Intensified climate change in recent years has had a global impact, leading to increased precipitation events of short duration and high intensity. This phenomenon poses a severe challenge to urban and underground infrastructure. Accurate detection and location of floodplains and water bodies are essential to ensure informed decision-making and implement proactive measures to minimize risks and losses. Therefore, an automated and efficient flood image detection system is the need of the hour. This study proposes a deep learning–based flood detection system. Images taken by surveillance cameras at intersections are used as input data, making the system well-suited to urban applications. Data augmentation techniques are used to improve the model performance. We demonstrated the practicality of this model by applying it to street surveillance images taken in Taiwan. The developed model quickly and successfully identified the extent and location of flooding with high precision and reliability. The developed model can be used to provide valuable insights for flood management and disaster management agencies. The test findings obtained from this study demonstrate the superior performance of the DeepLabv3 + model compared to the Mask R-convolutional neural network model, which was further enhanced using a super-resolution generative adversarial network. The model achieved remarkable precision with a precision metric score of 84 %, which is also complemented by a recall rate of 91 %. Most notably, the mean Intersection over Union (mIoU) metric reached an impressive accuracy level of 85.8 %. The results of this study highlight the importance of developing advanced flood imagery detection models aiming to considerably reduce the risks and losses incurred by flooding. [Display omitted] Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been identified as decisive regulators of liver fibrosis. Hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), major hepatic cells contributing to liver fibrosis, undergo metabolic reprogramming for transdifferentiation and activation maintenance. As a crucial part of metabolic reprogramming, glutaminolysis fuels the tricyclic acid (TCA) cycle that renders HSCs addicted to glutamine. However, how lncRNAs reprogram glutamine metabolism in HSCs is unknown. For this research, we characterized the pro-fibrogenic function of small nucleolar host gene 11 (SNHG11). Our data showed that in carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 , 7 μL/g, intraperitoneally) treated C57BL/6J mice, SNHG11 expression was highly up-regulated in fibrotic livers and activated primary HSCs. SNHG11 knockdown attenuated the accumulation of fibrotic markers α-SMA and Col1A1 in liver fibrosis tissues and activated HSCs. Western blot and qRT-PCR assays demonstrated that glutaminase (GLS), the rate-limiting enzyme for glutaminolysis, was a downstream target of SNHG11. Furthermore, SNHG11 upregulated glutaminolysis in HSCs through the activation of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. The results highlighted that SNHG11 is a glutaminolysis-regulated lncRNA that promotes liver fibrosis. The prevalences of diabetes mellitus and obesity are increasing yearly and has become a serious social burden. In addition to genetic factors, environmental factors in early life development are critical in influencing the prevalence of metabolic disorders in offspring. A growing body of evidence suggests the critical role of early methyl donor intervention in offspring health. Emerging studies have shown that methyl donors can influence offspring metabolism through epigenetic modifications and changing metabolism-related genes. In this review, we focus on the role of folic acid, betaine, vitamin B12, methionine, and choline in protecting against metabolic disorders in offspring. To address the current evidence on the potential role of maternal methyl donors, we summarize clinical studies as well as experimental animal models that support the impact of maternal methyl donors on offspring metabolism and discuss the mechanisms of action that may bring about these positive effects. Given the worldwide prevalence of metabolic disorders, these findings could be utilized in clinical practice, in which methyl donor supplementation in the early life years may reverse metabolic disorders in offspring and block the harmful intergenerational effect. Bridgman once reflected on thermodynamics that the laws of thermodynamics were formulated in their present form by the great founders of thermodynamics, Kelvin and Clausius, before all the essential physical facts were in, and there has been no adequate reexamination of the fundamentals since. Thermodynamics still has unknown possibilities waiting to be explored. This paper begins with a brief review of Clausius's work on the second law of thermodynamics and a reassessment of the content of Clausius's statement. The review tells that what Clausius originally referred to as the second law of thermodynamics was, in fact, the theorem of equivalence of transformations (TET) in a reversible cycle. On this basis, a new symmetric form of Clausius's TET is proposed. This theorem says that the two transformations, i.e., the transformation of heat to work and the transformation of work from high pressure to low pressure, should be equivalent in a reversible work-to-heat cycle. New thermodynamic cyclic laws are developed on the basis of the cycle with two work reservoirs (two pressures), which enriches the fundamental of the second law of thermodynamics. The self-calibrating sensor based on Tb/Eu-MOF-6 exhibits visual colorimetric sensing for anthrax biomarker: fluorescent color changes from yellow to red after adding DPA. [Display omitted] Bacillus anthracis is toxic bacterial spore that cause human anthrax infections. Therefore, rapid and sensitive detection of Bacillus anthracis or its main biomarker 2, 6-pyridine dicarboxylic acid (DPA) is of great significance. Herein, a series of lanthanide–organic frameworks (Tb/Eu-MOF - 1 – 6) were synthesized by the solvothermal reactions of 2,2′-bipyridine-6,6′-dicarboxylic acid (H 2 BPDC) with Eu3+ and Tb3+. Among these samples, Tb/Eu-MOF-6 exhibited selective detection of DPA with self-calibrating and colorimetric fluorescence determination. The sensitivity of Tb/Eu-MOF-6 revealed a linear response of ln (I N) = -10.896C DPA + 0.14366 with a limit of detection with 4.51 μM. The emission color of Tb/Eu-MOF-6 observed with the naked eye, turned yellow to red after introducing appropriate concentration of DPA. The energy-transfer behavior between BPDC2- Tb3+, and Eu3+ was systematically studied, which primarily controlled the sensitivity of detection. With the combined merits of self-calibrating, rapid and naked-eye recognition of DPA, Tb/Eu-MOF-6 can be counted as a promising contender for anthrax biomarker detection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

At present, most numerical methods consider the tube walls as the same constant temperature in the simulations of the heat exchanger, and only the external fluid outside the tubes is considered. To investigate the heat transfer performance of the heat exchanger in the real running state, a conjugate heat transfer simulation is performed for a heat exchanger equipped with cross-combined ellipsoidal dimple tubes in this paper. The k-e standard turbulence model is selected to simulate the heating process of tube bank. The distributions of the temperature field and flow field are analyzed carefully. The results indicate that the temperature distribution and the heat flux on the tube wall are uneven, which is different from the case regarding the wall boundaries as a constant temperature. The heat transfer performance of the dimpled tube is higher than that of the smooth tube in the heat exchanger, and the heat transfer performance for aligned arrangement is better than that for staggered arrangement. Reg3A is upregulated in various cancers and considered a potential target for antitumor treatments. However, the effect of Reg3A in metastasis has been elusive. This study aims to disclose the role of Reg3A overexpression in hepatic metastasis of LoVo colon cancer cells. A stable cell line of LoVo cells overexpressing Reg3A (LoVo-luc-Reg3A), labeled with luc reporter gene, was constructed. Cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion were determined using MTT, EdU, Hoechst's staining, flow cytometry, and transwell assays, respectively. Hepatic metastasis of LoVo-luc-Reg3A cells was investigated in BALB/c nude mice. Living bioluminescence imaging, histological examination, and mRNA sequencing (mRNA-seq) were performed to assess the metastatic efficiency and gene expression alteration. Reg3A content was determined by Western blotting and Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay. Cell attachment capacity was determined in the Matrigel culture. Reg3A overexpression did not promote LoVo cell proliferation or apoptosis, but facilitated cell migration and invasion. In the hepatic metastasis model, Reg3A overexpression increased the number of metastatic colonies. The result of mRNA-seq suggested 349 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) by Reg3A upregulation, many of which were related to colon adenocarcinoma tumorigenesis compared to normal colon tissue. Gene ontology enrichment assay indicated that the DEGs are mainly associated with cell adhesion, leukocyte regulation, extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling, integrin binding, and STAT protein binding. Reg3A overexpression led to an enrichment of Reg3A protein in local tumor tissue of liver metastasis and ECM/intracellular space in ex vivo cultured cells. However, Reg3A concentration in serum and culture medium was relatively low. Reg3A overexpression also resulted in an increased number of cells that attach to Matrigel, which was attenuated by treatments of siRNA-Reg3A and single-chain variable fragment against Reg3A. Endogenous Reg3A overexpression facilitates hepatic metastasis of LoVo colon cancer cells. Recent studies revealed the un-negligible impact of airborne organophosphate esters (OPEs) on phosphorus (P)-limited ecosystems. Subtropical forests, the global prevalence P-limited ecosystems, contain canopy structures that can effectively sequester OPEs from the atmosphere. However, little is known about the behavior and fate of OPEs in subtropical forest ecosystem, and the impact on the P cycling in this ecosystem. OPE concentrations in the understory air (at two heights), foliage, and litterfall were investigated in a subtropical forest in southern China. The median ∑OPE concentrations were 3149 and 2489 pg/m3 in the upper and bottom air, respectively. Foliage exhibited higher ∑OPE concentrations (median = 386 ng/g dry weight (dw)) compared to litter (median = 267 ng/g dw). The air OPE concentrations were ordered by broadleaved forest > mixed forest > coniferous forest, which corresponds to the results of canopy coverage or leaf area index. The spatial variation of OPEs in foliage and litter was likely caused by the leaf surface functional traits. Higher OPE concentrations were found in the wet season for understory air while in the dry season for foliage and litter, which were attributed to the changes in emission sources and meteorological conditions, respectively. The inverse temporal variation suggests the un-equilibrium partitioning of OPEs between leaf and air. The OPE concentrations during the litter-incubation presented similar temporal trends with those in foliage and litter, indicating the strong interaction of OPEs between the litter layer and the near-soil air, and the efficient buffer of litter layer played in the OPEs partitioning between soil and air. The median OPEs-associated P deposition fluxes through litterfall were 270, 186, and 249 μg P/m2·yr in the broadleaved, mixed, and coniferous forests, respectively. Although the fluxes accounted for approximately 0.2% of the total atmospheric P deposition, their significance to this P-limited ecosystem may not be negligible. Exposure to indoor dust is of concern since dust may be contaminated by various toxic chemicals and people spend considerable time indoors. Factors impacting human exposure risks to contaminants in indoor dust may differ from those affecting the loadings of contaminants, but the dominant factors have not yet been well clarified. In this study, the occurrence, human exposure, and related influencing factors of several classes of legacy and emerging contaminants in residential dust across Beijing were investigated, including per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) and three types of flame retardants (FRs), i.e., organophosphate esters (OPEs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), and novel halogenated FRs (NHFRs). OPEs (median: 3847 ng/g) were the most abundant group, followed by PBDEs (1046 ng/g) and NHFRs (520 ng/g). PFASs (14.3 ng/g) were one to two orders of magnitude lower than FRs. The estimated daily intakes of these contaminants were relatively higher for toddlers than other age groups, with oral ingestion being the main exposure pathway compared with dermal contact. Higher human exposure risks were found in new buildings or newly finished homes due to the elevated intake of emerging contaminants (such as OPEs). Furthermore, higher risks were also found in homes with wooden floors, which were mainly associated with higher levels of PFASs, chloroalkyl and alkyl OPEs, compared with tile floors. Citizens in the urban area also showed higher exposure risks than those in the suburban area. The quantity of household appliances and finishing styles (simple or luxurious) showed an insignificant impact on overall human exposure risks despite their significant effect on the levels of some of the dust contaminants. Results in this study are of importance in understanding human exposure to the co-existence of multiple contaminants in indoor dust. Aims: A comprehensive understanding of the genetic variation of walnuts (Juglans regia and J. sigillata) in the Himalaya and its potential drivers are essential for the conservation and sustainable utilization of these plant genetic resources. In this study, we aimed to uncover the genetic landscape of walnuts and potential drivers in the Himalaya for better utilization, awareness, sustainable management and conservation of the extant genetic resources of walnuts in the vast Himalayan landscape. Location: The Himalaya biodiversity hotspot. Methods: A total of 1410 wild or feral walnut trees from 65 populations of J. regia and J. sigillata across four countries in the Himalaya were collected. The genetic diversity, population structure, hybridization and gene flow were thoroughly investigated based on the chloroplast genome and 31 nuclear microsatellite markers. The patterns and drivers of the walnut genetic landscape were further explored. Results: We detected three genetic groups of J. regia (JR1, JR2, JR3), one of J. sigillata (JS) and two hybrid types (JR1 × JS and JR3 × JS) of walnut in the Himalaya, with the western Himalaya identified as the genetic diversity hotspot of J. regia. The spatial genetic pattern of the J. regia was significantly influenced by geographic and climatic factors. Human‐mediated dispersal probably promoted the hybridization and gene introgression between J. regia and J. sigillata, which reshaped the genetic landscape of walnut populations in the Himalaya. Main Conclusions: The extant genetic landscape of walnuts in the Himalaya was driven by natural and anthropogenic forces. Regarding conservation, the western and eastern Himalaya are the genetic reservoir of J. regia and J. sigillata, and hence, pure individuals should be urgently protected from frequent hybridization and introgression. Introduction: Severe spinal cord injury results in the loss of neurons in the relatively intact spinal cord below the injury area and skeletal muscle atrophy in the paralyzed limbs. These pathological processes are significant obstacles for motor function reconstruction. Objective: We performed tail nerve electrical stimulation (TNES) to activate the motor neural circuits below the injury site of the spinal cord to elucidate the regulatory mechanisms of the excitatory afferent neurons in promoting the reconstruction of locomotor function. Methods: Eight days after T10 spinal cord transection in rats, TNES was performed for 7 weeks. Behavioral scores were assessed weekly. Electrophysiological tests and double retrograde tracings were performed at week 8. Results: After 7 weeks of TNES treatment, there was restoration in innervation, the number of stem cells, and mitochondrial metabolism in the rats' hindlimb muscles. Double retrograde tracings of the tail nerve and sciatic nerve further confirmed the presence of synaptic connections between the tail nerve and central pattern generator (CPG) neurons in the lumbar spinal cord, as well as motor neurons innervating the hindlimb muscles. Conclusion: The mechanisms of TNES induced by the stimulation of primary afferent nerve fibers involves efficient activation of the motor neural circuits in the lumbosacral segment, alterations of synaptic plasticity, and the improvement of muscle and nerve regeneration, which provides the structural and functional foundation for the future use of cutting‐edge biological treatment strategies to restore voluntary movement of paralyzed hindlimbs. In the pursuit of highly active electrocatalysts is crucial to overcome the sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Herein, Fe–CoS 2 /carbon nanotubes anchored on carbon polyhedron (Fe–CoS 2 /CNT CPs) is prepared by using zeolitic imidazolate framework-8@zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 (ZIF-8@ZIF-67) as template. A series of analysis demonstrates the incorporation of Fe via wrapped Fe-EDTA can exert charge transfer between Co and Fe and optimize the adsorption of targeted intermediates, which favors for enhanced OER performance. Moreover, the catalytic effect of Co and Fe not only promotes the growth of carbon nanotubes but also enhances the degree of graphitization. The carbon skeletons embedded with carbon nanotubes derived from ZIF-8@ZIF-67 offer high specific surface area and strengthen the electrical conductivity of Fe–CoS 2 /CNT CPs. Therefore, compared with its counterpart and commercial RuO 2 , the designed Fe–CoS 2 /CNT CPs with regulated electronic structure displays the lowest overpotential of 293 mV at the current density of 10 mA cm−2 in 1.0 M KOH solution for OER. • G-agent conditioning can achieve sustainable and friendly sludge deep-dewatering. • The dewatering mechanism was raised by analyzing the properties of solid and liquid. • G-agent improves water flow-out efficiency rather than water flowability. • Cell lysis and bound water release are not indispensable for sludge deep-dewatering. • Drainage efficiency is crucial for practical sludge dewatering applications. Currently, the dominant methods focus on promoting cell lysis to release intracellular water, but these techniques often lead to secondary pollution and require stringent conditions, limiting their practical use. This study explores an innovative method using a commercially available complex quaternary ammonium salt surfactant, known as G-agent. This agent remarkably reduces the sludge water content from 98.6 % to 56.8 % with a low dosage (50 mg/g DS) and under neutral pH conditions. This approach surpasses Fenton oxidation in terms of dewatering efficiency and avoids the necessity for cell lysis and bound water release, thereby reducing the risk of secondary pollution in the filtrate, including heavy metals, nitrogen, phosphorus, and other contaminants. The G-agent plays a significant role in destabilizing flocs and enhancing flocculation during the conditioning and initial dewatering stages, effectively reducing the solid-liquid interfacial affinity of the sludge. In the compression filtration stage, the agent's solidification effect is crucial in forming a robust skeleton that improves pore connectivity within the filter cake, leading to increased water permeability, drainage performance and water flow-out efficiency. This facilitates deep dewatering of sludge without cell lysis. The study reveals that the G-agent primarily improves water flow-out efficiency rather than water flowability, indicating that cell lysis and bound water release are not indispensable prerequisites for sludge deep-dewatering. Accurate prediction and measurement of yield stress are crucial for optimizing sludge treatment and disposal. However, the differences and applicability of various methods for measuring yield stress are subjects of ongoing debate. Meanwhile, literature on measuring sludge yield stress is limited to low solid concentrations (TS <10%), understanding and studying the yield stress of medium to high solid concentration sludge is crucial due to increasingly stringent standards for sludge treatment and disposal. So, this study employed a rotational rheometer to measure sludge yield stress across a wide range of TS (4–50%) using steady shear, dynamic oscillatory shear, and transient shear. The study derived significant conclusions by comparing and summarizing the applicability and limitations of each testing method: Dynamic oscillatory shear methods, including G′- σ curve method, γ - σ curve method, and G** γ c method can measure sludge yield stress ranging from 4% to 40% TS, while other methods are restricted to low or limited solid concentrations; The G' = G″ method, utilizing the intersection of G′ and G″ curves, consistently yields the highest value for yield stress when 4%≤ TS ≤ 12%; The rotational rheometer cannot measure sludge yield stress when the solid concentration exceeds 40% TS; The relationship between sludge yield stress and solid concentration is stronger as a power-law for TS ≤ 25%, transitioning to linear for higher concentrations (28%≤ TS <40%). The application of biochar as microwave absorbers in microwave-assisted catalytic fast pyrolysis (MACFP) has been widely studied. It has been reported that coconut husk carbon (CHC) showed good process characteristics and product distribution as microwave absorbers. However, the existing studies did not pay much attention to the reusability of CHC absorbers. In this study, the CHC absorbers prepared from agricultural and forestry wastes were reused in multiple cycles in the MACFP of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and low-density polyethylene (LDPE). Compared with typical microwave absorbers such as spherical silicon carbide (SiC) and granular activated carbon (GAC), CHC demonstrated favorable process characteristics with relatively high heating rate (29 °C/min) and short heating time (within 12 min). In terms of product properties, the highest liquid yield of 51.67 wt% and the highest content of monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (MAHs) of 82.82 % were obtained at the appropriate pyrolysis temperature (550 °C). After five consecutive uses, the CHC bed still produced comparable heating profiles and product distributions, compared to that of SiC. At the same time, a positive synergistic effect between PET and LDPE was observed. The co-feeding of PET and LDPE (50L50P) appropriately increased the liquid yield (42.50 wt% vs 38.75 wt%) and the relative content of MAHs (77.11 % vs 72.96 %) in comparison to their theoretical value. Finally, this study supplies a new strategy for utilizing recycled CHC as a microwave absorber for the treatment of hydrogen-rich and hydrogen-deficient mixed plastic wastes to produce MAHs products, which also reduces waste and realizes energy conversion. Doxorubicin (DOX), a widely used chemotherapy agent in cancer treatment, encounters limitations in clinical efficacy due to associated cardiotoxicity. This study aims to explore the role of AKT serine/threonine kinase 2 (AKT2) in mitigating DOX-induced oxidative stress within the heart through both intracellular and extracellular signaling pathways. Utilizing Akt2 knockout (KO) and Nrf2 KO murine models, alongside neonatal rat cardiomyocytes (NRCMs), we systematically investigate the impact of AKT2 deficiency on DOX-induced cardiac injury. Our findings reveal that DOX administration induces significant oxidative stress, a primary contributor to cardiac injury. Importantly, Akt2 deficiency exhibits a protective effect by alleviating DOX-induced oxidative stress. Mechanistically, Akt2 deficiency facilitates nuclear translocation of NRF2, thereby suppressing intracellular oxidative stress by promoting the expression of antioxidant genes. Furthermore, We also observed that AKT2 inhibition facilitates superoxide dismutase 2 (SOD2) expression both inside macrophages and SOD2 secretion to the extracellular matrix, which is involved in lowering oxidative stress in cardiomyocytes upon DOX stimulation. The present study underscores the important role of AKT2 in mitigating DOX-induced oxidative stress through both intracellular and extracellular signaling pathways. The utilization of nano zero-valent iron (nZVI) in polybrominated diphenyl ethers remediation has been studied extensively. However, challenges in balancing cost and reactivity have been encountered. A submicron zero-valent iron coated with FeC 2 O 4 ·2 H 2 O layers (OX-smZVI) was synthesized via a mechanochemical method, aiming to resolve this contradiction. Characterization via SEM, TEM, and XPS confirmed the structure as FeC 2 O 4 ·2 H 2 O coated iron lamellate with a surface area 24-fold higher than ball-milled zero-valent iron (smZVI). XRD highlighted an Fe/C eutectic in OX-smZVI, boosting its electron transfer capacity. Decabromodiphenyl ether degradation by OX-smZVI follows a two-stage process, with initial degradation by FeC 2 O 4 ·2 H 2 O and a subsequent phase dominated by electron transfer. OX-smZVI exhibits a 4.52–34.40 times faster BDE209 removal rate than nZVI and scaled-up OX-smZVI displayed superior reactivity with preparation costs only 1/680 of nZVI. Given its enhanced reactivity and cost-efficiency, OX-smZVI emerges as a promising replacement for nZVI. • Development of a novel registration method combining ULS and TLS LiDAR data. • Hierarchical clustering of trunk point clouds generates accurate tree maps. • Validated in 40 sample plots in subtropical forests. • Achieved registration accuracy is better compared to existing methods. • Significantly reduced registration time to approximately 50 s per 30 × 20 m plot. Unmanned aerial vehicle laser scanning (ULS) and terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) provide complementary, non-destructive approaches to acquire three-dimensional forest structure information. Registration of their point clouds enables the reconstruction of complete vertical structure of forests. Current registration methods are primarily designed to register different TLS scans and thus are not applicable to ULS-TLS registration directly. In this study, the proposed method first generated multi-layer tree maps from ULS and TLS data using hierarchical clustering, then extracted Fast Point Feature Histograms (FPFH) features for each cluster point based on spatial relationships in the tree maps. After that, a point-to-point matching strategy was used to obtain the transformation matrix of each layer between ULS and TLS trunk point clouds and the best matrix from all layers was finally selected for fine registration. The algorithm was validated in 40 sample plots in Guangxi province of China. Our findings indicated that both high-density ULS and TLS data generate accurate tree maps compared to manually counted tree number, with a Concordance Correlation Coefficient (CCC) of 0.961 and 0.973, respectively. The proposed method performed well in registration accuracy and time efficiency, and achieved a higher matching score (0.945 > 0.928) and lower RMSE (0.144 < 0.151) than manual registration. The average registration time per sample plot of 600 m2 was 48.9 s, with 19.4 s dedicated to coarse registration. This research highlights the potential of clustering-based registration methods for effectively aligning ULS-TLS point cloud data in forests, laying the foundation for further technological advancements in forest vertical structure reconstruction.
