Shenqi Maixintong capsule (SMC), a traditional Chinese medicine compound, exerts various therapeutic effects, including nourishing one's vitality, improving blood circulation, regulating vital energy, and promoting coronary circulation. Studies have demonstrated that SMC could effectively alleviate atherosclerosis (AS) and delay its development. However, the effect of SMC on lipid metabolism remains unclear. Herein, we investigated the mechanism of SMC on lipid metabolism of RAW264.7 cells induced by oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL). Drug-containing serum was prepared by intragastric administration of SD (Sprague Dawley) rats. RAW264.7 cells were transformed into foam cells with 25 mg/L ox-LDL. SMC-treated rat serum increased the survival rate of ox-LDL-induced RAW264.7 cells. Oil Red staining, total cholesterol, and free cholesterol detection data showed that the intermediated dose of SMC had the best effect on reducing the lipid accumulation, lipid droplets, intracellular cholesterol, and total cholesterol content of RAW264.7 cells. The results of western blotting showed that the expression of ABCA1, ABCG1, LXRα, PPARγ, and peroxisome proliferation-activated receptor alpha (PPARα) was increased by SMC, and proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) was reduced, which promoted reverse cholesterol transport (RCT) of RAW264.7 cells and inhibited foam cell formation. Furthermore, SOD and MDA data indicated that SMC could reduce the senescence of RAW264.7 cells. These findings suggest that SMC might prevent ox-LDL-induced damage of macrophages in AS patients by improving cell viability and slowing down lipid accumulation and senescence. Periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs), which reside in the perivascular space of the periodontium, possess characteristics of mesenchymal stem cells and are a promising tool for periodontal regeneration. Recently, great progress has been made in PDLSC transplantation. Investigators are attempting to maximize the proliferation and differentiation potential of PDLSCs by modifying culture conditions and applying growth factors. Nevertheless, problems remain. First, incomparability among different studies must be minimized by establishing standard guidelines for culture and identification of PDLSCs. Notably, attention should be paid to the biological safety of PDLSC transplantation. The present review updates the latest findings regarding PDLSCs and discusses standard criteria for culture and identification of PDLSCs. With the features of extremely high selectivity and efficiency in catalyzing almost all the chemical reactions in cells, enzymes play vitally important roles for the life of an organism and hence have become frequent targets for drug design. An essential step in developing drugs by targeting enzymes is to identify drug-enzyme interactions in cells. It is both time-consuming and costly to do this purely by means of experimental techniques alone. Although some computational methods were developed in this regard based on the knowledge of the three-dimensional structure of enzyme, unfortunately their usage is quite limited because threedimensional structures of many enzymes are still unknown. Here, we reported a sequence-based predictor, called "iEzy-Drug," in which each drug compound was formulated by a molecular fingerprint with 258 feature components, each enzyme by the Chou's pseudo amino acid composition generated via incorporating sequential evolution information and physicochemical features derived from its sequence, and the prediction engine was operated by the fuzzy K-nearest neighbor algorithm. The overall success rate achieved by iEzy-Drug via rigorous cross-validations was about 91%. Moreover, to maximize the convenience for the majority of experimental scientists, a user-friendly web server was established, by which users can easily obtain their desired results. Background and Purpose. Cardiovascular disease is the major cause of death in dialysis patients. Although aldosterone antagonists were considered a treatment for severe heart failure patients to reduce cardiac mortality, whether treating patients undergoing maintenance dialysis with aldosterone antagonists could reduce the risk of cardiocerebrovascular (CCV) remains unclear. We aim to systematically assess the efficacy and tolerability of the addition of aldosterone antagonists to conventional therapy in patients undergoing maintenance dialysis. Materials and Methods. We searched PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, the Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) for relevant articles. The primary endpoint of interest was CCV mortality. The secondary endpoints were all-cause mortality, left ventricular mass index (LVMI), and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). Publication bias was evaluated using funnel plots and Egger's test. The meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager software version 5.3. Results. This analysis included 10 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with 1172 total chronic dialysis patients. The use of aldosterone antagonists in the dialysis population resulted in a marked reduction in CCV mortality (RR 0.42, 95% CI 0.26-0.65, P=0.0002) and all-cause mortality (RR0.46, 95%CI 0.32-0.66, P<0.0001). The LVEF was improved by treatment with aldosterone antagonists (WMD 6.35%, P<0.00001). Moreover, aldosterone antagonists decreased the LVMI (WMD -8.69 g/m2, P=0.0006), whereas aldosterone antagonists increased the occurrence of hyperkalemia (RR1.70, 95%CI 1-2.88, P=0.05) and gynecomastia (RR 8.01, 95% CI 2.44- 26.27, P=0.0006). Conclusions. Addition of aldosterone antagonists to conventional treatment in chronic dialysis patients may reduce CCV mortality, improve cardiac function, and simultaneously decrease LVMI. In this paper, we consider the input-to-stability for a class of stochastic neutral-type memristive neural networks. Neutral terms and S-type distributed delays are taken into account in our system. Using the stochastic analysis theory and Itô formula, we obtain the conditions of mean-square exponential input-to-stability for system. Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) is the most common histological and devastating subtype of renal cell carcinoma. Necroptosis is a form of programmed cell death that causes prominent inflammatory responses. miRNAs play a significant role in cancer progression through necroptosis. However, the prognostic value of necroptosis-related miRNAs remains ambiguous. In this study, 39 necroptosis-related miRNAs (NRMs) were extracted and 17 differentially expressed NRMs between normal and tumor samples were identified using data form The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). After applying univariate Cox proportional hazard regression analysis and LASSO Cox regression model, six necroptosis-related miRNA signatures were identified in the training cohort and their expression levels were verified by qRT-PCR. Using the expression levels of these miRNAs, all patients were divided into the high- and low-risk groups. Patients in the high-risk group showed poor overall survival (P < 0.0001). Time-dependent ROC curves confirmed the good performance of our signature. The results were verified in the testing cohort and the entire TCGA cohort. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression models demonstrated that the risk score was an independent prognostic factor. Additionally, a predictive nomogram with good performance was constructed to enhance the implementation of the constructed signature in a clinical setting. We then employed miRBD, miRTarBase, and TargetScan to predict the target genes of six necroptosis-related miRNAs. Gene ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses indicated that 392 potential target genes were enriched in cell proliferation-related biological processes. Six miRNAs and 59 differentially expressed target genes were used to construct an miRNA–mRNA interaction network, and 11 hub genes were selected for survival and tumor infiltration analysis. Drug sensitivity analysis revealed potential drugs that may contribute to cancer management. Hence, necroptosis-related genes play an important role in cancer biology. Patients with subcutaneous panniculitis‐like T‐cell lymphoma (SPTCL) are prone to the development of hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). It is not known whether small infections in SPTCL patients can trigger the development of HLH. The clinical data were collected from 21 SPTCL patients admitted to our hospital from January 2006 to October 2019. Among 21 cases of SPTCL, six cases had HLH as the first manifestation (SPTCL/HLH), seven cases had intrathoracic infection (ITI), five cases were SPTCL/HLH, 13 cases had no ITI or HLH (SPTCL/no HLH). Two patients with SPTCL/noHLH healed spontaneously. We found that 28.6% of the SPTCL patients had HLH as the first presentation. ITI may cooperate with SPTCL to trigger HLH and a small number of SPTCL/noHLH can fully recover without treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To solve the problems of limited energy of the nodes and security of routing in wireless sensor networks, load-balanced secure routing protocol (LSRP), a load-balanced secure routing protocol for wireless sensor networks, is proposed. Based on structured topology of hexagonal mesh, hops at different directions are calculated on the optimal route for transmitting data packets in LSRP. Depending on characters of hops, the nodes can rapidly find a route among multiple optimal routes by the policy of the twice probability routing selection. Data breach is prevented by data encryption, and data security is realized by one-way hash key chain and symmetric key authentication. LSRP offers preventions against usual attacks, and it also takes into account traffic load balance. Background. The repair of dental pulp injury relies on the odontogenic differentiation of dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs). To better understand the odontogenic differentiation of DPSCs and identify proteins involved in this process, tandem mass tags (TMTs) coupled with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) were applied to compare the proteomic profiles of induced and control DPSCs. Methods. The proteins expressed during osteogenic differentiation of human DPSCs were profiled using the TMT method combined with LC-MS/MS analysis. The identified proteins were subjected to Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analyses. Then, a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed. Two selected proteins were confirmed by western blotting (WB) analysis. Results. A total of 223 proteins that were differentially expressed were identified. Among them, 152 proteins were significantly upregulated and 71 were downregulated in the odontogenic differentiation group compared with the control group. On the basis of biological processes in GO, the identified proteins were mainly involved in cellular processes, metabolic processes, and biological regulation, which are connected with the signaling pathways highlighted by KEGG pathway analysis. PPI networks showed that most of the differentially expressed proteins were implicated in physical or functional interaction. The protein expression levels of FBN1 and TGF-β2 validated by WB were consistent with the proteomic analysis. Conclusions. This is the first proteomic analysis of human DPSC odontogenesis using a TMT method. Objective. This research is aimed at investigating how high glucose affects the proliferation and apoptosis in periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) in the presence of TNF-α. Methods. PDLSCs obtained from periodontal healthy permanent teeth were treated under either high-glucose condition (30 mmol/L, G30 group) or normal glucose condition (5.6 mmol/L, G5.6 group) in the presence or absence of TNF-α (10 ng/ml) for 2 to 6 days. Cell proliferation and cell cycle were evaluated by CCK-8, EdU incorporation assay, and flow cytometry. Cell apoptosis was assessed by annexin V/PI staining. Protein expression was detected by western blotting. Cellular ROS expression was evaluated by CellROX labeling and flow cytometry. Specific antibodies targeting TNFR1 and TNFR2 were used to block TNF-α signaling. Vitamin C was also used to verify if the blockage of ROS can rescue PDLSCs in the presence of high glucose and TNF-α. Results. CCK-8 assay showed that high glucose exacerbated TNF-α-induced cell viability inhibition (57.0%, 85.2%, and 100% for the G30+TNF-α group, G5.6+TNF-α group, and control group, respectively) on day 6. High glucose increased protein expression of TNFR1 compared with the control group on day 2 (1.24-fold) and day 6 (1.26-fold). Blocking TNFR1 totally reversed the proliferative inhibition in G30+TNF-α group. The addition of vitamin C or TNFR1 antibody totally reversed the elevation of intracellular ROS expression caused by high glucose and TNF-α. Vitamin C partially restored cell proliferation in the presence of high glucose and TNF-α. Conclusion. High glucose exacerbates TNF-α-induced proliferative inhibition in human periodontal ligament stem cells through the upregulation and activation of TNF receptor 1. Aim to modify the poly( l-lactic acid) (PLLA) make it better applications in food packing and evaluate the effect of some antimicrobials in meat packaging and storage, the PLLA/poly(vinyl alcohol)/poly(ε-caprolactone) (PLLA/PVA/PCL, LVC) multilayer film with the antimicrobial, such as tea polyphenols (TP), potassium sorbate (PS), and trehalose (TH) were prepared by laminating technique and potentially used for packaging of chilled meat, it significantly improved mechanical properties and barrier property of PLLA. Total viable count (TVC) and total volatile basic nitrogen (TVB-N) of the LVC film with the antibacterial were greatly inhibited. The lower and more stable pH value, and higher comprehensive and acceptability could be found in the case of the LVC-antibacterial film (LVC-TH, LVC-TP, and LVC-PS). It is noteworthy that the LVC-PS film showed the longest shelf life of 31 days and it is the ideal packaging material in this work, moreover expected to replace the nondegradable food packaging material. Practical applications In this work, the poly ( l-lactic acid) (PLLA) was modified by coating of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) to prepare the PLLA/PVA/PCL composite film for packaging of chilled meat. To enhance the antibacterial ability of the packaging film, three kinds of natural preservatives were incorporated into the composite film. The results shown that the oxygen barrier property of the composite film is greatly increased by over 3 orders in magnitude due to the presence of the PVA. It is noteworthy that the LVC-PS film showed the longest shelf life of 31 days and it is the ideal packaging material in this work, moreover expected to replace the nondegradable food packaging material.
