The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) and its California representatives will host Democratic presidential candidates for a June 26 debate on environmental policy in Los Angeles, California. LCV said five Democratic candidates have agreed to participate are, former Senator Carol Moseley Braun of Illinois, former Vermont governor Howard Dean and Senators Bob Graham of Florida, John Kerry of Massachusetts and Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut. LCV President Deb Callahan said that the debate is part of the organization's planned emphasis in the next 18 months to make environment a central issue in the 2004 presidential election. LCV has hired Democratic political activist Mark Longabaugh to lead the group's political campaigns.
