In this paper, an attempt has been made to evaluate the contents volumes I to X of Sociologia Ruralis (1960-1970), with the understanding that only the (75) English written papers are being reviewed. The main starting points have been derived from Article 4 of the Constitution of the European Society for Rural Sociology. After having proposed a number of critical remarks on the subject that have been dealt with in the papers concerned, a tentative evaluation has been made of the practical, theoretical, and methodologic relevance of these papers. In the final section, some ideas are suggested which might be used in order to remove several shortcomings brought to light in to previous sections. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The author reflects on the discontinuation of four year of editorship in journal Occupational and Organizational Psychology (JOOP). He states the running the journal requires teamwork and he is honored to work with editorial board. He also comments the high quality of the paper in the journal JOOP increased substantially. The author concludes that JOOP survived enormously past 4 years in the field of work and organizational psychology.

The article presents the 2008 yearly reports of the Crop Science Society of America (CSSA) in the U.S. It includes lists of presidents of CSSA from 1956 to 2008, the report of the editor-in-chief, the managing editor of the journal "Crop Science," which include the overall size of the journal and the number and types of papers published. The report also contains updates on the "Journal of Plant Registration," "The Plant Genome" and the "Journal of Environmental Quality." The editorial policy ad the editorial board update of the different journals are also mentioned.

The author announces the end of his editorship of the journal of the American Counseling Association. He claims that his farewell is both a relief and a sadness and hopes that he has made a difference in increasing the scholarship base of the profession through the vehicle of the journal. He recounts the significant contributions he offered to the publication which include the accomplishment of changing the journal from a paper-driven review process to a completely electronic one. He also expresses his heartfelt gratitude to those people who have worked with him with so much diligence and commitment.

Following the formation of the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society the president's prize of the Photogrammetric Society was renamed. The second E.H. Thompson Award will be made in 2005 and eligible papers to be considered will appear from the June 2003 issue of The Photogrammetric Record onwards. The rules for the awards of the Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry Society are under review.

Scandinavian Association for Dental Research (NOF) is seeking an editor to take over "Scandinavian Journal of Dental Research," from September 1994. The aim of the journal is to publish papers by Scandinavian investigators or by non-Scandinavian scientists working in laboratories in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway or Sweden. The journal is dedicated to the dissemination of knowledge within all branches of dentistry, including sciences related to the oral cavity and associated structures. Applications and nominations should be received by May 1, 1993. All applicants will be considered by a search committee appointed by the executive council of NOF.
