Due to the varying connectivity of Zr6 cluster and unlimited carboxylic acid‐based organic linkers, zirconium‐based metal‐organic frameworks (Zr‐MOFs) exhibit the most abundant structural diversity. However, Zr‐MOFs possessing more than one kind of Zr6 clusters in a single structure have not yet been reported. Herein, four new pentacarboxylic acids are synthesized to prepare Zr‐MOFs, HIAM‐4051 to HIAM‐4054. As a result, due to the different lengths of linkers, two novel underlying nets (typ and cqh) are found in these four MOFs with coexisting 4‐ and 9‐connected Zr6 clusters. Furthermore, by changing the acceptor groups in the linker skeleton, the emission of results Zr‐MOFs can be customized from blue, yellow–green to red. The nano‐sized HIAM‐4053‐NS exhibits high sensitivity and efficient adsorption for tetracycline hydrochloride with 0.22 µm detection limit and ≈0.6 g g−1 removal capacity. To the best of the knowledge, this work is the first example of constructing Zr‐MOFs using pentacarboxylic acids as organic linkers and the first report of Zr‐MOFs with coexisted Zr6 connectivities in a single MOF matrix. This study provides a novel insight for the construction of Zr‐MOFs with unprecedented structures, which will not only enrich the structure diversity but also offer more opportunity to extend the applications of Zr‐MOFs. Statistics has played an increasingly important role in applied linguistics research. However, little research has been available that sheds light on statistical literacy among early‐career researchers of applied linguistics. The study reported in this article surveyed statistical literacy, attitudes toward statistics, and statistics self‐efficacy among Chinese applied linguistics research students and further examined the inter‐variable relationships. Based on analyses of the cross‐sectional survey of 211 master's students, we found that: (1) the students' overall statistical literacy was not satisfying; (2) although they thought positively of statistics, they were not particularly confident with statistics; (3) the three experience‐related variables—the number of statistics courses taken, quantitative research orientation, and self‐training—were important predictors of statistical literacy, attitudes toward statistics, and statistics self‐efficacy; and (4) statistics self‐efficacy seemed to mediate the relationship between attitudes toward statistics and statistical literacy. BACKGROUND RESULTS CONCLUSION Ethylene plays a vital role in the ripening process of kiwifruit. A terrific amount of transcription factors (TFs) have been shown to regulate ethylene synthesis in various fruits.In this research, two new NAC TFs, named AcNAC3 and AcNAC4, were isolated from kiwifruit, which belonged to NAM subfamily. Bioinformatics analysis showed that both AcNAC3 and AcNAC4 were hydrophilic proteins with similar three‐dimensional structures. The expression levels of AcNAC3, AcNAC4 and AcACO1 increased during kiwifruit ripening, as well as were induced by ethylene and repressed by 1‐methylcyclopropene (1‐MCP). Correlation analysis exhibited that ethylene production was positively correlated with the expression levels of AcNAC3, AcNAC4 and AcACO1. Moreover, both AcNAC3 and AcNAC4 acted as transcriptional activators and could bind to and activate AcACO1 promoter.All results unveiled that the ethylene‐induced AcNAC3 and AcNAC4 were transcriptional activators, and might participate in kiwifruit ripening and ethylene biosynthesis through activating AcACO1, providing a new insight of ethylene synthetic regulation during kiwifruit ripening. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry. The human retina is able to extract key feature information from a large amount of redundant visual information, which is the basis for efficient information processing in the human visual system. However, current retina‐inspired photonic synaptic devices lack fast noise filtering capabilities, limiting the speed of image preprocessing in neuromorphic visual systems. Here, a photonic synaptic transistor (PST) based on graphene/organic heterojunction that exhibits high photosensitivity and optically tunable synaptic characteristics from visible to near‐infrared (488–1310 nm) is demonstrated. The PST enables light‐intensity‐controlled memory‐free and long‐memory mode switching, allowing to achieve fast image noise filtering in a PST‐based vision sensor (processing times as low as 30 ms). In addition, image recognition in an artificial neural network connected by the PST, and the efficiency and accuracy of image recognition can be significantly improved by performing image noise filtering at the front‐end is demonstrated. This work provides the potential to improve the information processing speed of bio‐inspired neuromorphic visual systems and contribute to the development of machine vision applications. BACKGROUND: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common cause of liver cirrhosis and cancer. Lonicerae flos polysaccharides (LPs) have been shown to be effective in treating metabolic diseases; however, the therapeutic effects and underlying molecular mechanisms of LPs in NAFLD remain unclear. PURPOSE: The objective of this study was to investigate the morphological characterization of Lonicerae flos polysaccharides (LPs) and the mechanism of LPs in relieving NAFLD. METHODS: The morphology of LPs was observed using atomic force microscopy (AFM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), thermal weight (TG), and thermal weight derivative (DTG); NAFLD mice were treated with LPs at the same time as they were induced with a Western diet, and then the indexes related to glycolipid metabolism, fibrosis, inflammation, and autophagy in the serum and liver of the mice were detected. RESULTS: The atomic force microscope analysis results indicated that the LPs displayed sugar‐chain aggregates, exhibited an amorphous structure, and were relatively stable in thermal cracking at 150 °C. It was also found that LPs exerted therapeutic effects in NAFLD. The LPs prevented high‐fat and ‐cholesterol diet‐induced NAFLD progression by regulating glucose metabolism dysregulation, insulin resistance, lipid accumulation, inflammation, fibrosis, and autophagy. Adenosine 5′‐monophosphate (AMP)‐activated protein kinase (AMPK) inhibitor compound C abrogated LP‐induced hepatoprotection in mice with NAFLD. The LPs further treated NAFLD by reshaping the structure of the gut microbiota, in which Desulfovibrio bacteria plays a key roles. BACKGROUND: Hyperlipidemia is regarded as a public health matter, and its effective prevention and treatment are urgently required. However, the treatment of hyperlipidemia is still relatively scarce. RESULTS: Fermented Cerasus humilis fruit (FCHF) had higher total flavonoid, total phenolic, procyanidin, and organic and free amino acid content, and lower total sugar content, than non‐fermented C. humilis fruit (NFCHF). Both FCHF and NFCHF treatment significantly prevent putting on weight. Furthermore, FCHF administration ameliorated hyperlipidemia and cholesterol over‐accumulation. In addition, FCHF administration activated the antioxidase system and decreased the malondialdehyde content to relieve oxidative stress, and showed more efficaciously than NFCHF administration. FCHF treatments significantly reverse the fat deposition in high‐fat diet rat liver. FCHF supplementation can relieve the dysbacteriosis induced by hyperlipidemia, and regulate the composition of rat gut microbiota by increasing the abundance of Prevotella and norank_f_Muribaculaceae. CONCLUSION: Lactobacillus plantarum and Saccharomyces cerevisiae fermentation enhanced the antihyperlipidemic property of C. humilis fruits by promoting gut microbiota regulation. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry. Learning and studying the structure–activity relationship in the bio‐enzymes is conducive to the design of nanozymes for energy and environmental application. Herein, Fe single‐atom nanozymes (Fe‐SANs) with Fe–N5 site, inspired by the structure of cytochromes P450 (CYPs), are developed and characterized. Similar to the CYPs, the hyperoxide can activate the Fe(III) center of Fe‐SANs to generate Fe(IV)O intermediately, which can transfer oxygen to the substrate with ultrafast speed. Particularly, using the peroxymonosulfate (PMS)‐activated Fe‐SANs to oxidize sulfamethoxazole, a typical antibiotic contaminant, as the model hyperoxides activation reaction, the excellent activity within 284 min−1 g−1(catalyst) mmol−1(PMS) oxidation rate and 91.6% selectivity to the Fe(IV)O intermediate oxidation are demonstrated. More importantly, instead of promoting PMS adsorption, the axial N ligand modulates the electron structure of FeN5 SANs for the lower reaction energy barrier and promotes electron transfer to PMS to produce Fe(IV)O intermediate with high selectivity. The highlight of the axial N coordination in the nanozymes in this work provides deep insight to guide the design and development of nanozymes nearly to the bio‐enzyme with excellent activity and selectivity. Mimicking the real‐time sensing and processing capabilities of human retina opens up a promising pathway for achieving vision chips with high‐efficient image processing. The development of retina‐inspired vision chip also requires hardware with high sensitivity, fast image capture, and the ability to sense under various lighting conditions. Herein, a high‐performance phototransistor based on graphene/organic heterojunction is demonstrated with a superior responsivity (2.86 × 106 A W−1), an outstanding respond speed (rise time/fall time is 20 µs/8.4 ms), and a remarkable detectivity (1.47 × 1014 Jones) at 650 nm. The phototransistor combines weak‐light detection capability (minimum detectable light intensity down to 2.8 nW cm−2) with gate‐tunable bi‐directional photoresponse capable of simultaneously sensing and processing visual images for light intensities ranging over six orders magnitude (10–107nW cm−2). Moreover, the phototransistor also exhibits an intriguing feature undiscovered in other retina‐inspired devices, namely that it can real‐time monitor the human pulse signal and heart rate by using photoplethysmography technology, and the measured heart rate error is only 0.87% compared with a commercially available sensor. Background: Current evidence for the efficacy of pharmacological treatment in improving cognitive function is absent. Recent studies have reported that 3‐n‐butylphthalide (NBP) has a positive effect on improving cognitive impairment; however, its clinical efficacy and safety is unclear. Therefore, we conducted a meta‐analysis to assess its efficacy and safety for cognitive impairment. Methods: We systematically searched the PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and Scopus databases, and two reviewers independently screened and extracted the data from included studies. We synthesized the data using the Review Manager Software version 5.3. Results: We included six randomized clinical trials (RCTs), encompassing 851 patients with cognitive impairment. The results showed that NBP improved cognitive impairment. Specifically, the clinical efficacy was better than that in the control group, with better performance in improving the Mini‐Mental State Examination and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment scores, while decreasing the Alzheimer's Disease Assessment Scale‐Cognitive subscale and the Clinician's Interview‐Based Impression of Change plus caregiver input scores. There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse events between both groups. Conclusion: The NBP is effective and safe in improving cognitive impairment; however, more high‐quality RCTs are needed to confirm these findings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Under light irradiation, the local temperature of the HCN inner void space was much higher than the bulk solution temperature because the confined space concentrates heat and inhibits heat loss. Using the temperature‐sensitive model reaction, peroxydisulfate (PDS) activation to oxidize micropollutant, it is shown that the degradation rate of sulfamethoxazole in the PNCR system is 7.1 times of that without nanoconfinement. It is further discovered that the high‐quality local heat inside the nanoconfined space shifted the model reaction from an otherwise non‐radical pathway to a radical‐based pathway. Optoelectronic synaptic devices, which combine the functions of photosensitivity and information processing, are essential for the development of artificial visual perception systems. Nevertheless, improving the paired pulse facilitation (PPF) index of optoelectronic synaptic devices, which is an urgent problem in the construction of high‐precision artificial visual perception systems, has received less attention so far. Herein, a light‐stimulated synaptic transistor (LSST) device with an ultra‐high PPF index (≈196%) is presented by introducing an ultra‐thin carrier regulator layer hexagonal boron nitride (h‐BN) into a classic graphene‐based hybrid transistor frame (graphene/CsPbBr3 quantum dots). Crucially, analysis of the rate‐limiting effect of h‐BN on photogenerated carriers reveals the mechanism behind the LSST ultra‐high PPF index. Furthermore, a two‐layer artificial neural network connected by LSST devices demonstrate ≈91.5% recognition accuracy of handwritten digits. Summary: In Arabidopsis, the differentiation of epidermal cells into stomata is regulated by endogenous and environmental signals. Sugar is required for plant epidermal cell proliferation and differentiation. However, it is unclear how epidermal cells maintain division and differentiation to generate proper amounts of stomata in response to different sugar availability.Here, we show that two evolutionarily conserved kinase Snf1‐related protein kinase 1 (SnRK1) and Target of rapamycin (TOR) play critical roles in the regulation of stomatal development under different sugar availability.When plants are grown on a medium containing 1% sucrose, sucrose‐activated TOR promotes the stomatal development by inducing the expression of SPEECHLESS (SPCH), a master regulator of stomatal development. SnRK1 promotes stomatal development through phosphorylating and stabilizing SPCH. However, under the high sucrose conditions, the highly accumulated trehalose‐6‐phosphate (Tre6P) represses the activity of KIN10, the catalytic α‐subunit of SnRK1, by reducing the interaction between KIN10 and its upstream kinase, consequently promoting SPCH degradation and inhibiting stomatal development.Our findings revealed that TOR and SnRK1 finely regulate SPCH expression and protein stability to optimize the stomatal development in response to exogenously supplied sugar. Over 50% prescribed drugs are metabolised by cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A) and glutathione S‐transferase pi (GSTP1) adds a glutathione to the oxidative products by CYP3A, which increases the hydrophilic property of metabolites and facilitates the excretion. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of CYP3A and GSTP1 show a diverse allele and genotype frequencies distribution among the world populations. The present study aimed to investigate the genotype and allele frequency distribution patterns of CYP3A4, CYP3A5, CYP3A7 and GSTP1 polymorphisms among healthy participants in mainland Tibetan, Mongolian, Uyghur, and Han Chinese populations. Blood samples were collected from 842 unrelated healthy subjects (323 Tibetan, 134 Mongolian, 162 Uyghur, and 223 Han) for genotyping analysis. Variant allele frequencies of CYP3A4 rs2242480, CYP3A5 rs776746, CYP3A7 rs2257401, and GSTP1 Ile105Val were observed in Han (0.253, 0.686, 0.312 and 0.188), Tibetan (0.186, 0.819, 0.192 and 0.173), Mongolian (0.198, 0.784, 0.228 and 0.235) and Uyghur (0.179, 0.858, 0.182 and 0.250) respectively. The allele frequency of CYP3A7*1C in Uyghur (0.019) was higher than that in Tibetan (0.002, p < 0.01). There was a strong linkage disequilibrium between CYP3A4 rs2242480, CYP3A5 rs776746, and CYP3A7 rs2257401 among the four ethnic groups. Objective: With the application of 3D photography, our study aimed to quantify parameters of static nasolabial fold wrinkles and establish mathematic regression model between parameters of wrinkles and age, further to quantitatively evaluate the effect of rejuvenation treatment in terms of age. Methods: From October 2016 to May 2018, 433 Chinese female volunteers, aged 25‐60 years old, were enrolled in this study. Antera 3D camera was used to collect four parameters of static nasolabial fold wrinkles on the left and right sides of the volunteers, including overall size, average depth (mm), average width (mm), and maximum depth (mm). For those presented a linear relationship with age, univariate linear regression fitting was performed, followed by residual analysis, goodness of fit test, and significance test. Results: The results of univariate linear regression fitting showed there was a clear linear relationship between the maximum depth, average depth, overall size of nasolabial fold wrinkles and age, and the regression equations were established. The significance test of regression coefficients showed P values were less than.0001. Conclusions: With application of the regression model between parameters of nasolabial fold wrinkles and age, the effect of rejuvenation treatment can be quantitatively evaluated in terms of age, which has certain reference and promotion value. Aqueous zinc‐ion batteries (ZIBs) have triggered a great deal of scientific research and become a promising alternative for large‐scale energy storage applications, owing to the unique merits of high volumetric energy density, abundance of zinc resources, eco‐friendliness, and safety. The pace of progress of ZIB development, however, is hindered by their poor reversibility and sluggish kinetics, derived from the dissolution of active materials in aqueous electrolytes and the strong electrostatic interactions between Zn2+ and the cathode lattice. Herein, a vanadium oxide (V2O5‐x)/polyaniline (PANI‐V) superlattice structure is demonstrated as a model of superlattice structural engineering to overcome these weaknesses. In this superlattice, the PANI layer not only plays the role of a spacer to expand the V2O5‐x interlayer spacing but also serves as a conductive capacity contributor. Moreover, the PANI layer servers as structural stabilizer to restrain the dissolution of V2O5‐x active materials in aqueous electrolytes. In addition, it introduces an interface effect to modulate the charge distribution of the V2O5‐x monolayer, promoting Zn‐ion diffusion into the structure. Correspondingly, weakening the electrostatic interactions and supressing the active materials dissolution synergistically boosts the electrochemical performance for Zn‐ion storage. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are produced as undesirable by‐products of metabolism in various cellular compartments, especially in response to unfavorable environmental conditions, throughout the life cycle of plants. Stress‐induced ROS production disrupts normal cellular function and leads to oxidative damage. To cope with excessive ROS, plants are equipped with a sophisticated antioxidative defense system consisting of enzymatic and non‐enzymatic components that scavenge ROS or inhibit their harmful effects on biomolecules. Nonetheless, when maintained at relatively low levels, ROS act as signaling molecules that regulate plant growth, development, and adaptation to adverse conditions. Here, we provide an overview of current approaches for detecting ROS. Objective: To date, the burden of childhood spinal TB in China has not been estimated, and current treatment is hindered by a lack of evidence. This study aimed to review our experience of childhood spinal TB.Methods: We reviewed the medical records of paediatric patients (≤15 years) admitted for spinal TB (confirmed or possible) at Shandong Provincial Chest Hospital from January 2006 to December 2019. Demographic, clinical, laboratory and radiological data were collected from medical records and analysed retrospectively.Results: Seventy-two patients were diagnosed with spinal TB. 45 were male (62.5%), and 27 female (37.5%), with a mean age of 8.42 ± 4.47 (SD) years. During this 14-year period, the overall prevalence of spinal TB among childhood TB was 4.5%. T-SPOT.TB, AFB smear, mycobacterial culture, TB RT-PCR and biopsies were positive in 29.6%, 14.3%, 23.3%, 43.8% and 88.5% of assayed patients, respectively. The overall surgical rate of the studied patients was 40.3%. The requirement of surgery in childhood spinal TB was associated with pulmonary TB (OR = 4.000, 95% CI: 1.197, 13.367).Conclusion: Spinal TB in children cannot be neglected. Genetic variations of cytochrome P450 (CYP) influence the inter‐individual differences in drug response. Here, we collected 8682 variants of 57 CYP genes and cytochrome P450 oxidoreductase (POR) from a large‐scale sequencing project in Chinese, Chinese Millionome Database (CMDB). In addition, 52 294 variants from the Genome Aggregation Database (gnomAD) had been simultaneously identified and analysed. Rare variants with a variant allele frequency (VAF) < 0.01 comprised 41.4% (3594/8682) of identified variations in the CMDB, while 98.1% (51 320/52 294) in the gnomAD were rare. Out of 8682 variants in the CMDB, 66.9% (5808/8682) were in introns and only 4.3% (377/8682) were missense variants. In contrast, 36.2% (18 929/52 294) variants in the gnomAD were missense. The common alleles with a VAF over 0.1 were found in CYP1A2*1C, CYP1A2*1F, CYP2C19*2, CYP2D6*2, CYP2D6*10, CYP3A5*3 and CYP4F2*3, with a VAF of 0.161, 0.6, 0.27, 0.274, 0.678, 0.92 and 0.233, respectively. The growing number of genetic variations in CYP genes as more genomes are sequenced would increase the power to predict drug metabolism and response based on the genotype of the particular individual. A major breakthrough in shale gas exploration and development has been made concerning the black shale of the Upper Ordovician and Lower Silurian. In recent years, significant progresses have been made regarding the exploration and development of shale gas in the black shale of the Upper Ordovician and Lower Silurian. Accordingly, we investigated the petrological and geochemical characteristics of the black shale from WF2‐LM5 graptolite biozones and performed a source analysis of quartz as well as evaluated its effect on shale gas reservoirs. The black shale mainly contains clay, carbonate, and quartz with the average TOC of 2.21%. Three quartz types, Q1, Q2, and Q3, were identified via petrological and cathodoluminescence (CL) analysis. Q1 of detrital origin as suggested by its typical morphology with monocrystal structure, large grain‐size, subrounded to angular outlines, and clear edges. This is further supported by the occurrence of medium luminescence under cathodoluminescence and medium intensity of P1 and P2 and high intensity P3 according to CL images. Q2 accounts for more than 90% of quartz and exhibits cryptocrystalline texture, an irregular shape, blurring edges, and low luminescence, and its CL images show low intensity P1, low intensity P2, and high intensity P3. Q3 have the morphologies of siliceous organisms, for example, sponge spicules, radiolaria, and foraminifera. Q2 and Q3 belong to authigenic quartz derived from siliceous organisms. Th/U and V/Cr indicate black shale from LM1–3 mainly deposited in the dysoxic‐anoxic environment while black shale from LM4–5 deposited in the oxic environment. Authigenic quartz‐rich shales from LM1–3 were speculated to be the best shale gas reservoirs characterized by high TOC content, high gas content, and with negligible amount of detrital quartz. Compared with shale from LM1–3, black shale from LM4–5 usually have relatively high detrital quartz content and low TOC content and gas content. Considering the abundant interparticle pore space, the detrital quartz‐rich shale interbedded within the black shale from LM4–5, could also become good shale gas reservoirs if sufficient gas supply is guaranteed. Objective: To determine the signaling pathways mediated by teriparatide in MLO‐Y4 cell lines based on the evaluation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) through AKT pathways, which regulate apoptosis of bone cells. Methods: We performed the DCFH‐DA assay to investigate the role of ROS in MLO‐Y4 cells caused by dexamethasone (Dex). Four groups were included: Dex group, Dex+NAC, Dex+ teriparatide group and control group (without any dispose). Real‐time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction was used to test the SOD2 and Cat mRNA expression. Western blot (WB) was used to investigate the AKT and caspase‐3 protein expression. A Cell Counting Kit‐8 (CCK‐8) assay test was conducted to explore the cell viability, and we also studied the apoptosis through western blot assay. A glucocorticoid‐induced osteoporosis (GIOP) model was used to confirm the anti‐ROS and anti‐apoptosis ability of teriparatide. Results: The CCK‐8 assay revealed that Dex reduced the proliferative capability of cells significantly, whereas incubation with teriparatide resulted in a remarkable increase in the proliferation of osteocytes. In addition, teriparatide can rescue the effect of inhibiting cell proliferation due to Dex treatment. Immunofluorescence analysis showed that ROS levels increased in Dex‐treated MLO‐Y4 cells when compared with control groups. However, the Dex+Teriparatide group showed less ROS when compared with the Dex group. The expression of Sod2 and Cat, two antioxidant enzymes crucial for ROS elimination, was decreased in the Dex group, indicating a defect of the enzymatic antioxidant system. Compared to the Dex group, incubation with teriparatide resulted in a significant decrease in caspase‐3 level; when compared with the control group, the caspase‐3 level was not significantly different, indicating that teriparatide can rescue apoptosis during Dex exposure. Moreover, teriparatide promotes the expression of AKT, and rescues the apoptosis effect caused by Dex. The results of immunofluorescence also showed that Akt was highly expressed in the teriparatide group when compared with the Dex group. The microstructural parameters Tb.Th, BV/TV, and Tb.N in the methylprednisolone (MPS) group were markedly reduced compared with the control group, but additional treatment with teriparatide could remarkably reverse the methylprednisolone‐induced reduction of these parameters. Moreover, the parameter Tb.Sp was significantly increased in the methylprednisolone group compared to the control group, and this increase could be inhibited by teriparatide. Conclusions: Teriparatide can reduce the cellular ROS level caused by glucocorticoids to facilitate the proliferation of osteocytes through activating the AKT pathway. Hexacyanoferrate (Prussian blue, PB)/reduced graphene oxide (PB‐RGO) composites with a synergistic structure (graphene/PB/graphene) and a chemical bond are fabricated using a facile one‐step method that does not require any external chemical reducing agent. Here, Na4Fe(CN)6 is decomposed in an acidic solution to produce Fe2+ ions, which anchor onto the electronegative graphene oxide (GO) layers by electrostatic interaction and then reduce the GO. The formation of an FeOC chemical bond in the composite results in an excellent rate capability of the PB‐RGO composite at room temperature, delivering capacities of 78.1, 68.9, and 46.0 mAh g−1 even at the high rates of 10, 20, and 50 C, with a capacity retention of 70.2%, 63.4%, and 41.0%, respectively. Sodium ion batteries (SIBs) have recently attracted considerable attention and are considered as an alternative to lithium ion batteries (LIBs), owing to the cheap price and abundance of sodium resources. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the pharmacokinetics (PK) of anti-oncostatin M (OSM) IgG1 monoclonal antibodies, CNTO 1119 and its Fc variant (CNTO 8212), which incorporates the LS(Xtend) mutation to extend terminal half-life (T1/2), after a single intravenous (IV) or subcutaneous (SC) administration in cynomolgus monkeys, and to predict human PK. In study 1, single doses of CNTO 1119 and CNTO 8212 were administered IV or SC at 3 mg/kg to cynomolgus monkeys (n = 3 per group). In study 2, single doses of CNTO 8212 were administered IV at 1, 5 or 20 mg/kg, or SC at 5 mg/kg to cynomolgus monkeys (n = 5 per group). Serial blood samples were collected for assessment of serum concentrations of CNTO 1119 and/or CNTO 8212. A two-compartment population PK model with first-order elimination was utilized to simultaneously describe the serum concentrations of CNTO 1119 and CNTO 8212 over time after IV and SC administration in cynomolgus monkeys. The typical population PK parameter estimates for CNTO 1119 in cynomolgus monkeys were clearance (CL) = 2.81 mL/day/kg, volume of distribution of central compartment (V1 ) = 31.3 mL/kg, volume of distribution of peripheral compartment (V2 ) = 23.3 mL/kg, absolute bioavailability (F) = 0.84 and T1/2 = 13.4 days. In comparison, the typical population PK parameter estimates for CNTO 8212 in cynomolgus monkeys were CL = 1.41 mL/day/kg, V1 = 39.8 mL/kg, V2 = 32.6 mL/kg, F = 0.75 and T1/2 = 35.7 days. The mean CL of CNTO 8212 was ~50% lower compared with that for CNTO 1119 in cynomolgus monkeys. The overall volume of distribution (V1 +V2 ) for CNTO 8212 was about 32% larger compared with that for CNTO 1119, but generally similar to the vascular volume in cynomolgus monkeys. The T1/2 of CNTO 8212 was significantly (p < 0.05) longer by about 2.7-fold than that for CNTO 1119 in cynomolgus monkeys. Thus, the modification of the Fc portion of an anti- OSM IgG1 mAb for higher FcRn binding affinity resulted in lower systemic clearance and a longer terminal half-life in cynomolgus monkeys. To endow nanofibers with the desirable antibacterial and mechanical properties, a facile strategy using Pickering emulsion (PE) electrospinning is proposed to prepare functional nanofibers with core/shell structure for the first time. The water-in-oil (W/O) Pickering emulsion stabilized by oleic acid (OA)-coated magnetite iron oxide nanoparticles (OA-MIONs) is comprised of aqueous vancomycin hydrochloride (Van) solution and poly(lactic acid) (PLA) solution. The core/shell structure of the electrospun Van/OA-MIONs-PLA nanofibers is confirmed by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy observation. Sustained release of Van from the PE electrospun nanofiber membrane is achieved within the time of 600 h. Compared with the neat PLA electrospun nanofiber membrane, 57% increase of tensile strength and 36% elevation of elongation at break are achieved on PE electrospun nanofiber membrane. In addition, the PE electrospun nanofiber membrane demonstrates excellent antibacterial property stemming from the combinational antibacterial activities of OA-MIONs and Van. Background: During endoscopic ultrasound‐guided fine needle aspiration (EUS‐FNA), cytopathology with rapid on‐site evaluation (ROSE) can improve diagnostic yield and accuracy. However, ROSE is unavailable in most Asian and European institutions because of the shortage of cytopathologists. Therefore, developing computer‐assisted diagnostic tools to replace manual ROSE is crucial. Herein, we reported the validation of an artificial intelligence (AI)‐based model (ROSE‐AI model) to substitute manual ROSE during EUS‐FNA. Methods: A total of 467 digitized images from Diff‐Quik (D&F)‐stained EUS‐FNA slides were divided into training (3642 tiles from 367 images) and internal validation (916 tiles from 100 images) datasets. The ROSE‐AI model was trained and validated using training and internal validation datasets, respectively. The specificity was emphasized while developing the model. Then, we evaluated the AI model on a 693‐image external dataset. We assessed the performance of the AI model to detect cancer cells (CCs) regarding the accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV). Results: The ROSE‐AI model achieved an accuracy of 83.4% in the internal validation dataset and 88.7% in the external test dataset. The sensitivity and PPV were 79.1% and 71.7% in internal validation dataset and 78.0% and 60.7% in external test dataset, respectively. Conclusion: We provided a proof of concept that AI can be used to replace manual ROSE during EUS‐FNA. A biphasic chiral recognition system based on chiral ligand exchange with Cu(II)- N- n-dodecyl-L-proline and hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin as an additive was developed to enantioseparate aromatic β-amino acids by high-speed counter-current chromatography. The biphasic chiral recognition system was established with an n-butanol/water (1:1, v/v) solvent system by adding N- n-dodecyl-L-proline and Cu(II) ions to the organic phase and hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin to the aqueous phase. Graphite-nanoplate-coated Bi2S3 composite (Bi2S3@C) has been prepared by a simple, scalable, and energy-efficient precipitation method combined with ball milling. The Bi2S3@C composite was used as the cathode material for sodium-sulfide batteries. It delivered an initial capacity of 550 mAh g−1 and high stable specific energy in the range of 275-300 Wh kg−1 at 0.1 C, with an enhanced capacity retention of 69 % over 100 cycles. The unique structure demonstrates superior cycling stability, with a capacity drop of 0.3 % per cycle over 100 cycles, compared with that of bare Bi2S3. Plant-pathogenic fungi produce cellulases. However, little information is available on cellulase as an elicitor in plant-pathogen interactions. Here, an endocellulase ( EG1) was isolated from Rhizoctonia solani. It contains a putative protein of 227 amino acids with a signal peptide and a family-45 glycosyl hydrolase domain. Its aspartic acid ( Asp) residue at position 32 was changed to alanine ( Ala), resulting in full loss of its catalytic activity. Wild-type and mutated forms of the endoglucanase were expressed in yeast and purified to homogeneity. The purified wild-type and mutant forms induced cell death in maize, tobacco and Arabidopsis leaves, and the transcription of three defence marker genes in maize and tobacco and 10 genes related to defence responses in maize. Moreover, they also induced the accumulation of reactive oxygen species ( ROS), medium alkalinization, Ca2+ accumulation and ethylene biosynthesis of suspension-cultured tobacco cells. Similarly, production of the EG1 wild-type and mutated forms in tobacco induced cell death using the Potato virus X ( PVX) expression system. In vivo, expression of EG1 was also related to cell death during infection of maize by R. solani. Siltuximab, a monoclonal antibody (mAb) against interleukin (IL-6), is under development by Janssen Research & Development, LLC. During early clinical development, siltuximab was produced in a murine Sp2/0 myeloma cell line. The production cell line was switched to stably transfected Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell line for subsequent clinical development. A two-part, parallel-group, phase 1 study was designed to evaluate the safety and pharmacokinetics (PK) of a single IV administration of Sp2/0- and CHO-derived siltuximab in healthy subjects. The results from this study demonstrated PK comparability of siltuximab produced from Sp2/0 and CHO cell lines. The 90% confidence interval of the ratios of geometric means of Cmax and AUC0-84day following 1.4 mg/kg doses was (99.4%, 111.3%) and (98.1%, 109.6%), respectively, both within the pre-specified comparability range of 80-125%. To simulate brain microenvironment, adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AMSC) were induced to differentiate to neuronal-like cells in rat cortex and hippocampus medium (Cox + Hip). First, isolated AMSC were characterized by flow cytometer and the capacity of adipogenesis and osteogenesis. After induction in rat cortex and hippocampus conditioned medium, the cell morphological change was examined and neural marker proteins (β-Ш-Tubulin, NSE, Nissl body) expression was detected by immunofluorescence staining. A variety of synaptic marker proteins, including GAP43, SHANK2, SHANK3 and Bassoon body, were detected. ELISA was used to measure brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and nerve growth factor (NGF) secretion at different time-points. AMSCs positively expressed CD13, CD44 and CD90 and could differentiate into osteoblasts or adipocytes. After induction in Cox + Hip medium for 14 days, cells had a typical neuronal perikaryal appearance, which was suggestive of neuronal differentiation. After 14 days of Cox + Hip treatment, the percentage of cells expressing β-Ⅲ-Tubulin, NSE and Nissl was 53.9 ± 0.8%, 51.3 ± 1.7% and 16.4 ± 2.1%, respectively. Expression of GAP43, SHANK2, SHANK3 and Bassoon body was detected, indicating synapse formation after treatment in Cox + Hip medium. Differentiated AMSCs secreted neurotrophic factors NGF and BDNF. A new method based on pressurized liquid extraction followed by LC-MS/MS analysis has been developed for the identification and quantification of three capsaicinoids (capsaicin, dihydrocapsaicin, and nordihydrocapsaicin) in extracts of Capsicum annuum. For the recovery of three capsaicinoids, the efficiency levels of ultrasonic-assisted extraction, microwave-assisted extraction, Soxhlet extraction, and pressurized liquid extraction were compared under different conditions. Pressurized liquid extraction resulted in higher yields. Pressurized liquid extractions were performed using methanol; temperature was set at 100°C and pressure at 1500 psi. LC analysis was performed on a Waters XBridge™ C18 column (150 × 2.1 mm, id 3.5 μm) eluted by a mobile phase of 0.1% formic acid and ACN. Data acquisition was carried out in multiple reaction monitoring transitions mode, monitoring two-reaction monitoring transitions to ensure an accurate identification of target compounds in the samples. An LC- MS/ MS method developed for simultaneous analysis of 54 veterinary drug residues of six families in pork meat samples, including sulfanilamide, nitroimidazoles, quinolones, macrolide antibiotics, lincosamides, and praziquantel. The pork meat sample was prepared by extraction with ACN, and clean-up on a C18 SPE cartridge. The sample was separated on a C8 column and eluted with ACN, methanol, and formic acid. The MS/ MS detector is operated in the multiple reaction monitoring mode, acquiring two specific precursor-product ion transitions per target compound. The method showed excellent linearity ( R2 ≥ 0.99) and high precision (relative SD, RSD ≤ 19.8%) for all compounds. The method quantification limits of 54 veterinary drug residues were in the range of 0.3-3.0 μg/kg. Recoveries for most analytes based on matrix-matched calibration in matrices were 20.9-121.0%. Water absorption is a prerequisite for seed germination. During imbibition, water influx causes the resumption of many physiological and metabolic processes in growing seed. In order to obtain more complete knowledge about the mechanism of seed germination, two-dimensional gel electrophoresis was applied to investigate the protein profile changes of rice seed during the first 48 h of imbibition. Thirty-nine differentially expressed proteins were identified, including 19 down-regulated and 20 up-regulated proteins. Storage proteins and some seed development- and desiccation-associated proteins were down regulated. The changed patterns of these proteins indicated extensive mobilization of seed reserves. By contrast, catabolism-associated proteins were up regulated upon imbibition. Semi-quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction analysis showed that most of the genes encoding the down- or up-regulated proteins were also down or up regulated at mRNA level. The expression of these genes was largely consistent at mRNA and protein levels. Single atomic catalysts have shown great potential in efficiently electro‐converting O2 to H2O2 with high selectivity. However, the impact of coordination environment and introduction of extra metallic aggregates on catalytic performance still remains unclear. Herein, first a series of carbon‐based catalysts with embedded coupling Ni single atomic sites and corresponding metallic nanoparticles at adjacent geometry is synthesized. Careful performance evaluation reveals NiSA/NiNP‐NSCNT catalyst with precisely controlled active centers of synergetic adjacent Ni‐N4S single sites and crystalline Ni nanoparticles exhibits a high H2O2 selectivity over 92.7% within a wide potential range (maximum selectivity can reach 98.4%). Theoretical studies uncover that spatially coupling single atomic NiN4S sites with metallic Ni aggregates in close proximity can optimize the adsorption behavior of key intermediates *OOH to achieve a nearly ideal binding strength, which thus affording a kinetically favorable pathway for H2O2 production. This strategy of manipulating the interaction between single atoms and metallic aggregates offers a promising direction to design new high‐performance catalysts for practical H2O2 electrosynthesis. Objective: The current investigation sought to utilize finite element analysis to replicate the biomechanical effects of different fixation methods, with the objective of establishing a theoretical framework for the optimal choice of modalities in managing Pauwels type III femoral neck fractures. Methods: The Pauwels type III fracture configuration, characterized by angles of 70°, was simulated in conjunction with six distinct internal fixation methods, including cannulated compression screw (CCS), dynamic hip screw (DHS), DHS with de‐rotational screw (DS), CCS with medial buttress plate (MBP), proximal femoral nail anti‐rotation (PFNA), and femoral neck system (FNS). These models were developed and refined using Geomagic and SolidWorks software. Subsequently, finite element analysis was conducted utilizing Ansys software, incorporating axial loading, torsional loading, yield loading and cyclic loading. Results: Under axial loading conditions, the peak stress values for internal fixation and the femur were found to be highest for CCS (454.4; 215.4 MPa) and CCS + MBP (797.2; 284.2 MPa), respectively. The corresponding maximum and minimum displacements for internal fixation were recorded as 6.65 mm for CCS and 6.44 mm for CCS + MBP. When subjected to torsional loading, the peak stress values for internal fixation were highest for CCS + MBP (153.6 MPa) and DHS + DS (72.8 MPa), while for the femur, the maximum and minimum peak stress values were observed for CCS + MBP (119.3 MPa) and FNS (17.6 MPa), respectively. Furthermore, the maximum and minimum displacements for internal fixation were measured as 0.249 mm for CCS + MBP and 0.205 mm for PFNA. Additionally, all six internal fixation models showed excellent performance in terms of yield load and fatigue life. Conclusion: CCS + MBP had the best initial mechanical stability in treatment for Pauwels type III fracture. However, the MBP was found to be more susceptible to shear stress, potentially increasing the risk of plate breakage. Furthermore, the DHS + DS exhibited superior biomechanical stability compared to CCS, DHS, and PFNA, thereby offering a more conducive environment for fracture healing. Summary: Regulation of grain size is a crucial strategy for improving the crop yield and is also a fundamental aspect of developmental biology. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms governing grain development in wheat remain largely unknown. In this study, we identified a wheat atypical basic helix–loop–helix (bHLH) transcription factor, TabHLH489, which is tightly associated with grain length through genome‐wide association study and map‐based cloning. Knockout of TabHLH489 and its homologous genes resulted in increased grain length and weight, whereas the overexpression led to decreased grain length and weight. TaSnRK1α1, the α‐catalytic subunit of plant energy sensor SnRK1, interacted with and phosphorylated TabHLH489 to induce its degradation, thereby promoting wheat grain development. Sugar treatment induced TaSnRK1α1 protein accumulation while reducing TabHLH489 protein levels. Moreover, brassinosteroid (BR) promotes grain development by decreasing TabHLH489 expression through the transcription factor BRASSINAZOLE RESISTANT1 (BZR1). Importantly, natural variations in the promoter region of TabHLH489 affect the TaBZR1 binding ability, thereby influencing TabHLH489 expression. Taken together, our findings reveal that the TaSnRK1α1‐TabHLH489 regulatory module integrates BR and sugar signalling to regulate grain length, presenting potential targets for enhancing grain size in wheat. Specifically, the amphoteric charged ion additives (denoted as DM), which act as zinc‐ion anchors, can tightly absorb on the Zn surface to guide the uniform zinc‐ion distribution by using its positively charged −NR4+ groups. While the negatively charged −SO3− groups of DM on the other hand, reduces the active water molecules within solvation sheaths of Zn‐ions. Benefiting from the special synergistic effect, Zn metal exhibits highly ordered and compact (002) Zn deposition and negligible side‐reactions. As a result, the advanced Zn||Zn symmetric cell delivers extraordinarily 7000 hours long lifespan (0.25 mA cm−2, 0.25 mAh cm−2). Additionally, based on this strategy, the NH4V4O10||Zn pouch‐cell with low negative/positive capacity ratio (N/P ratio=2.98) maintains 80.4 % capacity retention for 180 cycles. Unstable Zn interface with serious detrimental parasitic side‐reactions and uncontrollable Zn dendrites severely plagues the practical application of aqueous zinc‐ion batteries. The interface stability was closely related to the electrolyte configuration and Zn2+ depositional behavior. In this work, a unique Zn‐ion anchoring strategy is originally proposed to manipulate the coordination structure of solvated Zn‐ions and guide the Zn‐ion depositional behavior. Anode‐free sodium metal batteries (AFSMBs) as one new battery configuration, have attracted more attention in recent years and considered as the promising next‐generation energy storage systems, owing to the advantages of high theoretical energy density, high safety, cost‐saving, and simplified fabrication process. The practical application of AFSMBs, however, is impeded by their poor cycle life arising from the low coulombic efficiency (CE), the growth of metal dendrite, and unstable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI). Recently, some works are reported to dissolve the above‐mentioned issues. In this review, it provides a comprehensive summary of AFSMBs including their origin, mechanism, advantages, challenges, strategies, and perspectives. First, the intrinsic issues of conventional sodium metal batteries are summarized as safety concerns and manufacturing difficulty, which is the background of promoting AFSMBs' birth. Subsequently, the mechanism, construction requirement, advantages, and challenges of AFSMBs are discussed. Furthermore, the strategies for improving AFSMBs performance in terms of the current collector, electrolyte, and protocols, are summarized based on an extensive literature survey. Aqueous Zn‐ion batteries with mild acidic electrolytes are considered the promising energy storage solutions due to their outstanding merits of high energy density and cost‐effectiveness. However, the rampant dendrite growth and severe parasitic reactions caused by a series of factors such as irregular Zn2+ transport pathway and pH variation would result in poor cycling stability. Herein, a self‐regulated interface strategy implemented by ammonium persulfate ((NH4)2S2O8, denoted as APS) multifunctional additive is proposed to simultaneously address the above issues. The zincophilic NH4+ preferentially adsorbs on the Zn protuberance to exclude water molecules and shield the "tip effect," thus inhibiting side‐reactions and inducing uniform Zn deposition. Moreover, NH4+ and S2O82− can dynamically adjust H+ and OH− concentrations in a pH self‐buffer manner, thus effectively mitigating hydrogen evolution reaction and formation of by‐products. Consequently, with the existence of APS additive, Zn anode exhibits ultrahigh coulombic efficiency (CE) of 99.9% over 9000 cycles and ultra‐long lifespan of 4300 h at 5 mA cm−2. Furthermore, even under high NH4V4O10 mass loading (9.4 mg cm−2) and thin zinc foil (10 µm), the assembled NH4V4O10//Zn pouch cell with APS additive can still maintain stably over 210 cycles, demonstrating its excellent value for application. This article reports a carbon fiber–reinforced plastic Kagome composite honeycomb sandwich structure reinforced with polymethacrylimide (PMI) foam (PKCSS). Low‐velocity impact performances on the node, rib, and two cell centers of the PKCSS were experimentally compared with those on a composite Kagome honeycomb sandwich (CKHS), and the failure mechanism of the PKCSS was investigated. The impact process was analyzed through an explicit numerical analysis using ABAQUS. A three‐dimensional Hashin failure criterion was introduced using the VUMAT subroutine. Results confirmed that the PKCSS exhibits higher impact and specific loads than the CKHS, with the maximum improvements of 69.7% and 39.5%, respectively, under 50‐J impact energy. As an uncrushable material, the PMI foam provides strong impact resistance during its plateau stage. This technology of cell filling can be used to fabricate lightweight all‐composite honeycomb sandwiches for potential use in ultrahigh engineering applications. Regulating the electric double layer (EDL) structure of the zinc metal anode by using electrolyte additives is an efficient way to suppress interface side reactions and facilitate uniform zinc deposition. Nevertheless, there are no reports investigating the proactive design of EDL‐regulating additives before the start of experiments. Herein, a functional group assembly strategy is proposed to design electrolyte additives for modulating the EDL, thereby realizing a long‐lasting zinc metal anode. Specifically, by screening ten common functional groups, N, N‐dimethyl‐1H‐imidazole‐1‐sulfonamide (IS) is designed by assembling an imidazole group, characterized by its high adsorption capability on the zinc anode, and a sulfone group, which exhibits strong binding with Zn2+ ions. Benefiting from the adsorption functionalization of the imidazole group, the IS molecules occupy the position of H2O in the inner Helmholtz layer of the EDL, forming a molecular protective layer to inhibit H2O‐induced side reactions. Meanwhile, the sulfone group in IS, acting as a binding site to Zn2+, promotes the de‐solvation of Zn2+ ions, facilitating compact zinc deposition. Consequently, the utilization of IS significantly extending the cycling stability of Zn||Zn and Zn||NaV3O8 ⋅ 1.5H2O full cell. This article reports on efforts to explore barriers to the transfer of knowledge from provider to seeker and the role of knowledge management strategies during the new product development (NPD) period. The study used the cultural-historical activity theory (CHAT) framework from Hasan and Gould (2001) to examine the cross-functional knowledge creation process and details surrounding the concept of stickiness (Szulanski, 1996). Strategies we observed can be categorized as being classical or processual oriented (Whittington, 1993). We describe how NPD teams can reduce barriers by aligning strategies in the four knowledge-creation steps: socialization, externalization, combination, and internalization. This CHAT framework was verified on the basis of samples from 107 Taiwanese NPD teams. Results show that the barriers differed among stages within the NPD period. During the transfer process, the processual strategy reduced barriers to knowledge transfer during the planning, developing, and commercialization stages of the NPD period. In contrast, the classical strategy was shown only to have a positive effect during the marketing stage. Survey results also showed that the highly formalized communication model and periodic meetings advocated by Song and colleagues (Song, Sabrina, & Zhao, 1996; Song, van der Bji, & Weggeman, 2005) and Ingelgard, Roth, Shani, and Styhre (2002) were gradually replaced by bounded transfer and a less formalized approach. These preliminary results suggest that if team leaders can use classical and processual strategies in real time, the barriers to the transfer of knowledge from provider to seeker in the four steps of the NPD period can be effectively reduced. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
