Avoiding financial losses requires preventing catastrophic oil‐filled power transformer breakdowns. Continuous online transformer monitoring is needed. The authors use paper insulation to evaluate transformer health for continuous online transformer monitoring. The study suggests a new artificial intelligence method for estimating paper insulation residual life in oil‐immersed power transformers. The four artificial intelligence models use backpropagation‐based neural networks to predict paper insulation lifespan. Four primary transformer insulating paper failure indices—degree of polymerisation, 2‐furfuraldehyde, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide—form the basis of these models. Each model, including the backpropagation‐based neural networks, estimates paper insulation life using one failure index, along with moisture and temperature data. Optimisation techniques enhance hidden layer neurons and epoch count for improved performance. Results are validated against literature‐based life models, establishing a precise input–output correlation. This method accurately predicts the remaining useable life of power transformer paper insulation, enabling utilities to take proactive measures for safe and efficient transformer operation. However, the extent to which these complex AI models can outperform traditional methods has largely been overlooked. This study compared five different models - AutoRegressive (AR), eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGB), Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), and WaveNet - for their performance on SWH time series prediction at 16 buoy locations. Surprisingly, the results suggest that the differences of performance among different models are negligible, indicating that all these AI models have only "learned" the linear auto-regression from the data. Background: Road accidents are among the most important causes of death and severe personal and financial injuries. Also, its profound social, cultural, and economic effects threaten human societies. This study aimed to estimate the trend of traffic accident victims in Yazd Province, Iran, to predict the number of traffic accident victims in this province. Materials and Methods: Based on traffic casualty statistics referred to forensic medicine in Yazd Province within April 1989 and March 2017 referred to Forensic Medicine of Yazd Province and using an artificial neural network to predict the number of injured for 12 months ending in 2020 has been paid. The neural network used in this study had 12 inputs, one output, and 5 hidden layers. The network predicts the relationship between data after training and learning. The network is considered the MSE benchmark. Results: The number of injured in traffic accidents in Yazd Province in 2020 was equal to 7052 people, with the highest number in December with 832 people and the lowest in June with 414 people. The exact method of use was equal to 92 cases. Conclusion: The trend of traffic accident casualties in Yazd Province in 2020 will be declining. In this paper, an example of an intelligent security system based on deep learning approach has been analyzed and described. Security is an important element in many aspects of human life. Depending on customer requirements, different levels of security may be required and implemented. Nowadays, artificial intelligence is becoming an indispensable part in many areas of human life and accordingly security systems are also based on the new achievements in this field. In this paper, an intelligent security system based on two methods for identifying persons, gait recognition and face recognition, was described. The two methods mentioned above can be used to give persons access to different buildings, facilities, institutions, etc. or to different indoor or outdoor areas. In light of the above, the aforementioned system uses face and gait recognition to identify persons who should be granted access to a facility or a specific area within the facility. Accordingly, two deep learning models for gait and face recognition have been developed and described. The paper presents the analysis of modern Artificial Intelligence algorithms for the automated system supporting human beings during their conversation in Polish language. Their task is to perform Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and process it further, for instance fill the computer-based form or perform the Natural Language Processing (NLP) to assign the conversation to one of predefined categories. The state-of-the-art review is required to select the optimal set of tools to process speech in the difficult conditions, which degrade accuracy of ASR. Optical neural networks (ONN) are experiencing a renaissance, driven by the transformative impact of artificial intelligence, as arithmetic pressures are progressively increasing the demand for optical computation. Diffractive deep neural networks (D2NN) are the important subclass of ONN, providing a novel architecture for computation with trained diffractive layers. Given that D2NN directly process light waves, they inherently parallelize multiple tasks and reduce data processing latency, positioning them as a promising technology for future optical computing applications. This paper begins with a brief review of the evolution of ONN and a concept of D2NN, followed by a detailed discussion of the theoretical foundations, model optimizations, and application scenarios of D2NN. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of progress made in ML from shallow to deep learning and its implications for food drying. Theoretical foundations, advantages, and limitations of various ML approaches employed in this domain are explored. Additionally, advancements in ML models, particularly those enhanced by optimization algorithms, are reviewed. The review underscores the role of intelligent configuration of ML models, which affects their accuracy and ability to solve problems of high energy consumption, nutrient degradation, and uneven drying. Drawing upon research achievements, integrating of AI models with real-time measuring methods is discussed, enabling dynamic determination of optimal drying conditions and parameter adjustments. This integration facilitates automated decision-making, reducing human errors and enhancing operational efficiency in food drying. This paper addresses issues concerning biometric authentication based on handwritten signatures. Our research aimed to check whether a handwritten signature acquired with a mobile device can effectively verify a user's identity. We present a novel online signature verification method using coordinates of points and pressure values at each point collected with a mobile device. Convolutional neural networks are used for signature verification. In this paper, three neural network models are investigated, i.e., two self-made light SigNet and SigNetExt models and the VGG-16 model commonly used in image processing. The convolutional neural networks aim to determine whether the acquired signature sample matches the class declared by the signer. Thus, the scenario of closed set verification is performed. The effectiveness of our method was tested on signatures acquired with mobile phones. We used the subset of the multimodal database, MobiBits, that was captured using a custom-made application and consists of samples acquired from 53 people of diverse ages. The experimental results on accurate data demonstrate that developed architectures of deep neural networks can be successfully used for online handwritten signature verification. Deep learning, a crucial technique for achieving artificial intelligence (AI), has been successfully applied in many fields. The gradual application of the latest architectures of deep learning in the field of time series forecasting (TSF), such as Transformers, has shown excellent performance and results compared to traditional statistical methods. These applications are widely present in academia and in our daily lives, covering many areas including forecasting electricity consumption in power systems, meteorological rainfall, traffic flow, quantitative trading, risk control in finance, sales operations and price predictions for commercial companies, and pandemic prediction in the medical field. Deep learning-based TSF tasks stand out as one of the most valuable AI scenarios for research, playing an important role in explaining complex real-world phenomena. However, deep learning models still face challenges: they need to deal with the challenge of large-scale data in the information age, achieve longer forecasting ranges, reduce excessively high computational complexity, etc. Therefore, novel methods and more effective solutions are essential. In this paper, we review the latest developments in deep learning for TSF. We begin by introducing the recent development trends in the field of TSF and then propose a new taxonomy from the perspective of deep neural network models, comprehensively covering articles published over the past five years. We also organize commonly used experimental evaluation metrics and datasets. Finally, we point out current issues with the existing solutions and suggest promising future directions in the field of deep learning combined with TSF. De-mining operations are of critical importance for humanitarian efforts and safety in conflict-affected regions. In this paper, we address the challenge of enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of mine detection systems. We present an innovative Deep Learning architecture tailored for pulse induction-based Metallic Mine Detectors (MMD), so called DL-MMD. Our methodology leverages deep neural networks to distinguish amongst nine distinct materials with an exceptional validation accuracy of 93.5%. This high level of precision enables us not only to differentiate between anti-personnel mines, without metal plates but also to detect minuscule 0.2-g vertical paper pins in both mineralized soil and non-mineralized environments. Moreover, through comparative analysis, we demonstrate a substantial 3% and 7% improvement (approx.) in accuracy performance compared to the traditional K-Nearest Neighbors and Support Vector Machine classifiers, respectively. The fusion of deep neural networks with the pulse induction-based MMD not only presents a cost-effective solution but also significantly expedites decision-making processes in de-mining operations, ultimately contributing to improved safety and effectiveness in these critical endeavors. To investigate how the petroleum industry evaluates and selects powerful cloud service providers, first, an evaluation index system including 25 indices such as scalability and private data protection is built. This index system can systematically examine the comprehensive strengths of cloud service providers. Aiming to solve the problems that the traditional expert evaluation method has high requirements on expert experience and is easily affected by subjective factors, a novel artificial intelligence evaluation model named TentISSA-BPNN is proposed. The objective evaluation ability of this model can be effectively used in evaluation research on cloud service providers for petroleum enterprises. In this model, the SSA algorithm is optimized by Tent chaotic mapping and adaptive inertia weight; an algorithm, TentISSA, that has good stability and fast convergence speed is designed and proposed; and the BPNN is improved with TentISSA to obtain more accurate evaluation results. To evaluate the performance of the TentISSA algorithm, nine unimodal and multimodal functions are selected in this paper to test the convergence accuracy. Then, seven models are selected as the control groups to validate the effectiveness and performance of the TentISSA-BPNN evaluation model proposed in this paper. Finally, the preprocessed data of the candidate cloud service providers are input into the trained neural network model proposed in this paper for evaluation. Based on the ranking of the evaluation scores, the comprehensive strengths of the cloud service providers are obtained to provide a decision-making reference for managers of petroleum enterprises in the process of choosing cloud service providers. Artificial Intelligence is quickly emerging as a technological solution for the agriculture industry to surmount its classical challenges. Artificial Intelligence is facilitating farmers to refine their products and alleviate unfavourable impacts due to the environment. The central concern of this paper is predictive analytics to develop a machine learning model to identify and predict crop yield based on multiple environmental factors. In this paper, a hybrid learner 'RaNN' is proposed that combines the feature sampling and majority voting technique of Random Forest in-combination with the multilayer Feedforward Neural Network to predict the crop yield. Research has also ascertained the essential features responsible for accurate yield prediction. The proposed model works for rice yield prediction, one of the chief grains of India. The region chosen for the work is Punjab, which is among the largest producer states of India for rice. The dataset consists of 15 attributes comprising the weather and agriculture data collected from the Indian Meteorological Department Pune, and Punjab Environment Information System (ENVIS) Center, Government of India. The study has also made a comparative assessment of 'RaNN' with machine learning methods like Multiple Linear Regression, Random Forest, Decision Tree, Boosting Regression, Support Vector Machine Regression, Ensemble Learner, and Artificial Neural Network. Our model RaNN has listed a better prediction accuracy with minimal error among the other techniques providing a 98% correlation between the actual and the predicted yield. The digitization of distribution power systems has revolutionized the way data are collected and analyzed. In this paper, the critical task of harnessing this information to identify irregularities and anomalies in electricity consumption is tackled. The focus is on detecting non-technical losses (NTLs) and energy theft within distribution networks. A comprehensive overview of the methodologies employed to uncover NTLs and energy theft is presented, leveraging measurements of electricity consumption. The most common scenarios and prevalent cases of anomalies and theft among consumers are identified. Additionally, statistical indicators tailored to specific anomalies are proposed. In this research paper, the practical implementation of numerous artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, including the artificial neural network (ANN), ANFIS, autoencoder neural network, and K-mean clustering, is highlighted. These algorithms play a central role in our research, and our primary objective is to showcase their effectiveness in identifying NTLs. Real-world data sourced directly from distribution networks are utilized. Additionally, we carefully assess how well statistical methods work and compare them to AI techniques by testing them with real data. The artificial neural network (ANN) accurately identifies various consumer types, exhibiting a frequency error of 7.62%. In contrast, the K-means algorithm shows a slightly higher frequency error of 9.26%, while the adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) fails to detect the initial anomaly type, resulting in a frequency error of 11.11%. Our research suggests that AI can make finding irregularities in electricity consumption even more effective. Despite the complex punching shear behavior of reinforced concrete slabs have been comprehensively addressed in the literature, it is further essential to develop a universal design model comprising high accuracy and the simplicity for design practicability, adaptable to diverse conditions encountered in practice. Artificial intelligence applications, artificial neural networks (ANN), and more recently, various machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques veer off in a new direction in structural engineering context with improved accuracy and efficiency. The paper begins with the assessment of the capabilities of various artificial intelligence applications in predicting the punching shear strength of slab-column connections without shear reinforcement through the extensive database using 650 punching shear experiments from the literature. Critical parameters influencing the punching shear strength as well as the precision of the current code provisions in predicting this feature were then thoroughly examined in the paper. The results shown in this paper validated the competency of artificial intelligence applications in predicting the punching shear strength of such connections with increased accuracy and improved simplicity in practical terms. One key frontier of artificial intelligence (AI) is the ability to comprehend research articles and validate their findings, posing a magnanimous problem for AI systems to compete with human intelligence and intuition. As a benchmark of research validation, the existing peer-review system still stands strong despite being criticized at times by many. However, the paper vetting system has been severely strained due to an influx of research paper submissions and increased conferences/journals. As a result, problems, including having insufficient reviewers, finding the right experts, and maintaining review quality, are steadily and strongly surfacing. To ease the workload of the stakeholders associated with the peer-review process, we probed into what an AI-powered review system would look like. In this work, we leverage the interaction between the paper's full text and the corresponding peer-review text to predict the overall recommendation score and final decision. We do not envisage AI reviewing papers in the near future. Still, we intend to explore the possibility of a human–AI collaboration in the decision-making process to make the current system FAIR. The idea is to have an assistive decision-making tool for the chairs/editors to help them with an additional layer of confidence, especially with borderline and contrastive reviews. We use a deep attention network between the review text and paper to learn the interactions and predict the overall recommendation score and final decision. We also use sentiment information encoded within peer-review texts to guide the outcome further. Our proposed model outperforms the recent state-of-the-art competitive baselines. In this study, a bibliometric analysis technique is used for performance analysis and science mapping of artificial intelligence (AI) applications in streamflow research. This paper examines the current trends in the literature using the Scopus database over the last 37 years. RStudio Bibliometrix software was used to analyse the titles, keywords, abstracts, and full texts of 3000 publications to identify trends in AI models, publication types, journals, citations, authors, countries, and regions. The highest frequency AI-related keyword is "artificial neural networks," which was used in a total of 25587 times. The most common publication type, at 82.1%, is journal articles, and the highest rate of country production is 25% for China. The cost for covering active power losses makes a significant item in transmission system operators (TSO) annual budgets, and still it received limited attention in the existing literature. The focus of accurate power loss forecasting and procurement is of high increase during the past 2 years due to spikes in electricity prices, making the cost of covering the active power losses a dominant factor of TSO operational costs. This paper presents practical aspects of the highly accurate models for transmission loss forecast in the day ahead time frame for the Croatian transmission system. The contributions are two‐fold: 1) Practical insights into usable TSO data are provided, filling a critical research gap and a foundational literature review is established on transmission loss forecasting. 2) A novel method utilizing only electricity transit data as input which outperforms existing practices is presented. For this, several algorithms such as gradient boosted decision tree model (XGB), support vector regressors, multiple linear regression and fully connected feedforward artificial neural networks are developed, and implemented and validated on data obtained from the Croatian TSO. The results show that the XGB model outperforms current TSO model by 32% for 4 months of comparison and TSCNET's commercial solution by 25% during a year‐long testing period. Monitoring and managing litter on the roadways is important not only for preserving the cleanliness and esthetic appeal of our cities but also for safeguarding the overall health and sanitary environment of citizens. With the development of artificial intelligence, it is now possible to design algorithms capable of autonomously assessing the sanitation status of roadways. In this paper, we propose a method for detecting garbage on roads as our solution to tackle the issue. The proposed model is a deep learning model with an attention mechanism introduced to detect garbage in real-time scenarios. Furthermore, the object recognition capability of the model is enhanced through transfer learning to mitigate the influence of irrelevant content during training. The refined network can detect rubbish on roads with higher efficiency than the existing models. Also, compared with other methods, it consumes less amount of data for training. Measuring the volume fraction of different types of fluids with two or three phases is so vital. Among all available methods, two of them, capacitance-based and gamma-ray attenuation, are so popular and widely used. Moreover, nowadays, AI which stands for Artificial Intelligence can be seen almost in all areas, and the measuring section is no exception. In this paper, the main goal is to predict the volume fraction of a three-phase homogeneous fluid which contains water, oil, and gas materials. To opt for an optimised method, a combination of capacitance-based sensors, gamma-ray attenuation sensor and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) is utilised. To train the proposed metering system which is a MLP type, two inputs are considered. For the first input, the concave sensor is simulated in COMSOL Multiphysics software and different combinations of three phases (different volume fractions) are applied. Then through theoretical investigations of gamma-ray sensor, Barium-133 which radiates 0.356 MeV is used. This way, the second required input is generated. Finally, to implement a new and accurate metering system, a number of networks with different characteristics are run in the MATLAB software. The best structure had a Mean Absolute Error (MAE) equal to 0.33, 3.68 and 3.75 for the water, gas and oil phases, respectively. The accuracy of the presented metering system is illustrated by the received outcomes. In Moroccan higher education, the integrity of examinations is paramount, yet it faces the persistent challenge of identity impersonation. This form of academic dishonesty not only undermines the credibility of educational institutions but also contributes to the graduation of incompetent students. In an era where artificial intelligence is revolutionizing various sectors, its application to upholding academic integrity is both timely and essential. This paper proposes an advanced deep learning-driven fingerprint verification model specifically designed to combat impersonation in university examinations. Unlike traditional methods, our model leverages the power of Siamese neural networks (SNN), renowned for their effectiveness in learning distinct features and similarities. The model, trained, validated, and tested using the SOCOFing dataset, demonstrated high accuracy and effectiveness in fingerprint identification, crucial for verifying identities in educational exam settings. The paper presents a dynamic model of the TMM-3M heavy mechanized bridge during the span lowering stage. The model is constructed as a multi-body mechanical system, taking into account the elastic deformation of the cable, rear outriggers, front tires, and front suspension system. It is a mechanical model driven by a cable mechanism. Lagrangian equations of the second kind have been applied to establish a system of differential equations describing the oscillations of the mechanical system and serve as the basis for investigating the dynamics of the span-lowering process. The system of differential equations is solved using numerical methods based on MATLAB simulation software. The study has revealed laws of the displacement, velocity, and acceleration of components within the mechanical system, especially those related to the bridge span depending on the choice of the drive speed of the engine during lowering by operator. The research results show that the lowering time increases from 52 seconds to 104 seconds when the engine speed decreases from 1800 rpm to 900 rpm. The tension force on the cable is surveyed to confirm the safety conditions during the span-lowering process. The study also provides recommendations for selecting appropriate engine speeds to minimize span-lowering time while ensuring the safety conditions of the TMM-3M bridge during the span-lowering process. This research is an important part of a comprehensive study on the working process of the heavy mechanized bridge TMM-3M to make practical improvements, aiming to reduce deployment time, decrease the number of deployment crew members, and increase the automation capability of the equipment. Plastic deformation forming with metal pipe blanks by contact blast loading inside pipes is an interesting moldless forming technique, also a complex and error-prone process. Some advantages are very characteristic of this forming technique such as no cost of mold, tooling and low energy consumption, no complicated control equipment compared to other forming techniques such as casting, rolling, tube hydrostatic forming, bending - welding. Up to now, the calculation and design of this forming technique mainly use some existing reference empirical formulas, so the experimental results are only suitable in the range of small pipe diameters, and still there are significant deviations for larger pipe diameters. In order to increase the predictability and accuracy of forming process by contact blast loading inside large pipes, this paper presents a study on the influence of the mass of highly explosive material - TNT to the forming ability of large steel pipes from API-5LX-42 mild steel materials by modern 3D numerical simulation using Abaqus/Cae software. Four output criteria with maximum values are used to evaluate the efficiency of this forming process, includ- ing maximum diameter of the blast zone (Dmax ≤2*Do), Von Mises stress (Smax ≤UTS), Hoop plastic strain component (PE22 max ≤1), and Pipe wall thinning rate (€7-max ≤60%). The results of this research on the plastic deformation forming process using numerical simulation can be used for the next experimental step to evaluate the difference between simulation and experiment, as well as use this data in the calculation and design of pipe products with circular or square cross-sections to save both time and money of trial and error before application in actual manufacturing. One important goal of cognitive science is to understand the mind in terms of its representational and computational capacities, where computational modeling plays an essential role in providing theoretical explanations and predictions of human behavior and mental phenomena. In my research, I have been using computational modeling, together with behavioral experiments and cognitive neuroscience methods, to investigate the information processing mechanisms underlying learning and visual cognition in terms of perceptual representation and attention strategy. In perceptual representation, I have used neural network models to understand how the split architecture in the human visual system influences visual cognition, and to examine perceptual representation development as the results of expertise. In attention strategy, I have developed the Eye Movement analysis with Hidden Markov Models method for quantifying eye movement pattern and consistency using both spatial and temporal information, which has led to novel findings across disciplines not discoverable using traditional methods. By integrating it with deep neural networks (DNN), I have developed DNN+HMM to account for eye movement strategy learning in human visual cognition. The understanding of the human mind through computational modeling also facilitates research on artificial intelligence's (AI) comparability with human cognition, which can in turn help explainable AI systems infer humans' belief on AI's operations and provide human‐centered explanations to enhance human−AI interaction and mutual understanding. Together, these demonstrate the essential role of computational modeling methods in providing theoretical accounts of the human mind as well as its interaction with its environment and AI systems. In this paper, a technology named SCM−ANN combining physical scattering mechanisms and artificial intelligence is proposed to realize radar cross-section (RCS) extrapolation of non-cooperative conductor targets with higher efficiency. Firstly, an adaptive scattering center (SC) extraction algorithm is used to construct the scattering center model (SCM) for non-cooperative targets from radar echoes in the low-frequency band (LFB). Secondly, an artificial neural network (ANN) is constructed to capture the nonlinear relationship between the real LFB echoes and those reconstructed from the SCM. Finally, the SCM is used to reconstruct echoes in the high-frequency band (HFB), and these reconstructions, together with the trained ANN, optimize the extrapolated HFB RCS. For the SCM−ANN technology, physical mechanistic modes are used for trend prediction, and artificial intelligence is used for regression optimization based on trend prediction. Simulation results show that the proposed method can achieve a 50% frequency extrapolation range, with an average prediction error reduction of up to 40% compared with the traditional scheme. By incorporating physical mechanisms, this proposed approach offers improved accuracy and an extended extrapolation range compared with the RCS extrapolation techniques relying solely on numerical prediction. A pivotal aspect is the integration of a reinforcement learning-differential evolution algorithm as a decision fusion strategy, optimizing classification by harmonizing outputs from ensemble methods and convolutional neural network models. Computational results, using a newly collected dataset, demonstrate our model's accuracy exceeding 96.54% while using the existing solid waste dataset we achieve the accuracy of 97.81%, outperforming advanced approaches by margins ranging from 2.02% to 8.80%. The latest survey results show an increase in accidents on the roads involving pedestrians and cyclists. The reasons for such situations are many, the fault actually lies on both sides. Equipping vehicles, especially autonomous vehicles, with frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar and dedicated algorithms for analyzing signals in the time–frequency domain as well as algorithms for recognizing objects in radar imaging through deep neural networks can positively affect safety. This paper presents a method for recognizing and distinguishing a group of objects based on radar signatures of objects and a special convolutional neural network structure. The proposed approach is based on a database of radar signatures generated on pedestrian, cyclist, and car models in a Matlab environment. The obtained results of simulations and positive tests provide a basis for the application of the system in many sectors and areas of the economy. Innovative aspects of the work include the method of discriminating between multiple objects on a single radar signature, the dedicated architecture of the convolutional neural network, and the use of a method of generating a custom input database. Modern AI methods are good at grading cancer, but they are not used much in hospitals yet. We developed and utilized ensemble deep learning algorithms for addressing the tasks of classifying (1) breast cancer subtype and (2) breast cancer invasiveness from whole slide image (WSI) histopathology slides. The ensemble models used were based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) known for extracting distinctive features crucial for accurate classification. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive analysis of these models and the used methodology for breast cancer diagnosis tasks. Cancer diagnosis and classification are pivotal for effective patient management and treatment planning. In this study, a comprehensive approach is presented utilizing ensemble deep learning techniques to analyze breast cancer histopathology images. Our datasets were based on two widely employed datasets from different centers for two different tasks: BACH and BreakHis. Within the BACH dataset, a proposed ensemble strategy was employed, incorporating VGG16 and ResNet50 architectures to achieve precise classification of breast cancer histopathology images. Introducing a novel image patching technique to preprocess a high-resolution image facilitated a focused analysis of localized regions of interest. The annotated BACH dataset encompassed 400 WSIs across four distinct classes: Normal, Benign, In Situ Carcinoma, and Invasive Carcinoma. In addition, the proposed ensemble was used on the BreakHis dataset, utilizing VGG16, ResNet34, and ResNet50 models to classify microscopic images into eight distinct categories (four benign and four malignant). For both datasets, a five-fold cross-validation approach was employed for rigorous training and testing. Preliminary experimental results indicated a patch classification accuracy of 95.31% (for the BACH dataset) and WSI image classification accuracy of 98.43% (BreakHis). The increasing growth in knowledge about the functioning of the nervous system of mammals and humans, as well as the significant neuromorphic technology developments in recent decades, has led to the emergence of a large number of brain–computer interfaces and neuroprosthetics for regenerative medicine tasks. Neurotechnologies have traditionally been developed for therapeutic purposes to help or replace motor, sensory or cognitive abilities damaged by injury or disease. They also have significant potential for memory enhancement. However, there are still no fully developed neurotechnologies and neural interfaces capable of restoring or expanding cognitive functions, in particular memory, in mammals or humans. In this regard, the search for new technologies in the field of the restoration of cognitive functions is an urgent task of modern neurophysiology, neurotechnology and artificial intelligence. The hippocampus is an important brain structure connected to memory and information processing in the brain. The aim of this paper is to propose an approach based on deep neural networks for the prediction of hippocampal signals in the CA1 region based on received biological input in the CA3 region. We compare the results of prediction for two widely used deep architectures: reservoir computing (RC) and long short-term memory (LSTM) networks. The degradation of the cutting tool and its optimal replacement is a major problem in machining given the variability in this degradation even under constant cutting conditions. Therefore, monitoring the degradation of cutting tools is an important part of the process in order to replace the tool at the optimal time and thus reduce operating costs. In this paper, a cutting tool degradation monitoring technique is proposed using bootstrap-based artificial neural networks. Different indicators from the turning operation are used as input to the approach: the RMS value of the cutting force and torque, the machining duration, and the total machined length. They are used by the approach to estimate the size of the flank wear (VB). Different neural networks are tested but the best results are achieved with an architecture containing two hidden layers: the first one containing six neurons with a Tanh activation function and the second one containing six neurons with an ReLu activation function. The novelty of the approach makes it possible, by using the bootstrap approach, to determine a confidence interval around the prediction. The results show that the networks are able to accurately track the degradation and detect the end of life of the cutting tools in a timely manner, but also that the confidence interval allows an estimate of the possible variation of the prediction to be made, thus helping in the decision for optimal tool replacement policies. This paper aims to build a machine learning and a neural network model to detect the probability of money laundering in banks. The paper's data came from a simulation of actual transactions flagged for money laundering in Middle Eastern banks. The main findings highlight that criminal networks mainly use the integration stage to integrate money into the financial system. Fraudsters prefer to launder funds in the early hours, morning followed by the business day's afternoon time intervals. Given the peculiarly linguistic approach that contemporary philosophers use to apply St. Thomas Aquinas's arguments on the immateriality of the human soul, this paper will present a Thomistic-inspired evaluation of whether artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) chatbots' composition and linguistic performance justify the assertion that AI/ML chatbots have immaterial souls. The first section of the paper will present a strong, but ultimately crucially flawed argument that AI/ML chatbots do have souls based on contemporary Thomistic argumentation. The second section of the paper will provide an overview of the actual computer science models that make artificial neural networks and AI/ML chatbots function, which I hope will assist other theologians and philosophers writing about technology, The third section will present some of Emily Bender's and Alexander Koller's objections to AI/ML chatbots being able to access meaning from computational linguistics. The final section will highlight the similarities of Bender's and Koller's argument to a fuller presentation of St. Thomas Aquinas's argument for the immateriality of the human soul, ultimately arguing that the current mechanisms and linguistic activity of AI/ML programming do not constitute activity sufficient to conclude that they have immaterial souls on the strength of St. Thomas's arguments. Operational load monitoring (OLM) is an industrial process related to structural health monitoring, where fatigue of the structure is tracked. Artificial intelligence methods, such as artificial neural networks (ANNs) or Gaussian processes, are utilized to improve efficiency of such processes. This paper focuses on moving such processes towards green computing by deploying and executing the algorithm on low-power consumption FPGA where high-throughput and truly parallel computations can be performed. In the following paper, the OLM process of typical aerostructure (hat-stiffened composite panel) is performed using ANN. The ANN was trained using numerically generated data, of every possible load case, to be working with sensor measurements as inputs. The trained ANN was deployed to Xilinx Artix-7 A100T FPGA of a real-time microcontroller. By executing the ANN on FPGA (where every neuron of a given layer can be processed at the same time, without limiting the number of parallel threads), computation time could be reduced by 70% as compared to standard CPU execution. Series of real-time experiments were performed that have proven the efficiency and high accuracy of the developed FPGA-based algorithm. Adjusting the ANN algorithm to FPGA requirements takes some effort, however it can lead to high performance increase. FPGA has the advantages of many more potential parallel threads than a standard CPU and much lower consumption than a GPU. Until now, the mass spread of fake news and its negative consequences have implied mainly textual content towards a loss of citizens' trust in institutions. Recently, a new type of machine learning framework has arisen, Generative Adversarial Networks(GANs) – a class of deep neural network models capable of creating multimedia content (photos, videos, audio) that simulate accurate content with extreme precision. While there are several areas of worthwhile application of GANs – e.g., in the field of audio-visual production, human-computer interactions, satire, and artistic creativity – their deceptive uses, at least as currently foreseeable, are just as numerous and worrying. The main concern is linked to the so-called “deepfakes”, fake images or videos that simulate real events with extreme precision. When trained on a human face, GANs can make the face assume hyper-realistic movements, expressions and (verbal and non-verbal) communication abilities. This technology poses an urgent threat to the governance of democratic processes concerning the production of public opinions and political discourses, with significant potential for reality-altering and disinformation. After a short introduction of their current technical state-of-the-art, in this paper, we want to enquire about the GANs` socio-technical system alongside different and intertwined philosophical accounts. Firstly, we will argue about the conditions that make perceived GANs-generated content trustworthy, arguing also about the general effects GANs might have on the perceived trustworthiness of individuals. Thereafter, we will discuss about the inadequacy to approach GANs only as perception-altering technology. Against this backdrop, we will propose a theoretical turn that considers the human-machine relationships of trustworthiness as elements of broader hybrid socio-technical systems.
