Recently, many image encryption algorithms have been proposed. Part of them failed to pass the cryptanalysis test and were found to be unsecure. Some others were more secure and could resist the known cryptanalysis methods. Many of those recent schemes followed a well-known model that consists of encrypting the image's pixels using a variety of techniques and methods. Many algorithms were claimed to be secure and performant to be used in real applications. This paper investigates this claim by performing a comparative analysis between a chaotic algorithm recently proposed and the standard general purpose AES cryptosystem in a web application context. Background: Dementia is a cognitive decline that leads to the progressive deterioration of an individual's ability to perform daily activities independently. As a result, a considerable amount of time and resources are spent on caretaking. Early detection of dementia can significantly reduce the effort and resources needed for caretaking. Aims: This research proposes an approach for assessing cognitive decline by analysing speech data, specifically focusing on speech relevance as a crucial indicator for memory recall. Methods & Procedures: This is a cross‐sectional, online, self‐administered. The proposed method used deep learning architecture based on transformers, with BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) and Sentence‐Transformer to derive encoded representations of speech transcripts. These representations provide contextually descriptive information that is used to analyse the relevance of sentences in their respective contexts. The encoded information is then compared using cosine similarity metrics to measure the relevance of uttered sequences of sentences. The study uses the Pitt Corpus Dementia dataset for experimentation, which consists of speech data from individuals with and without dementia. The accuracy of the proposed multi‐QA‐MPNet (Multi‐Query Maximum Inner Product Search Pretraining) model is compared with other pretrained transformer models of Sentence‐Transformer. Outcomes & Results: The results show that the proposed approach outperforms the other models in capturing context level information, particularly semantic memory. Additionally, the study explores the suitability of different similarity measures to evaluate the relevance of uttered sequences of sentences. The experimentation reveals that cosine similarity is the most appropriate measure for this task. Conclusions & Implications: This finding has significant implications for the early warning signs of dementia, as it suggests that cosine similarity metrics can effectively capture the semantic relevance of spoken language. The persistent cognitive decline over time acts as one of the indicators for prevalence of dementia. Additionally early dementia could be recognised by analysis on other modalities like speech and brain images. Abstract: More than just being a substrate, paper can also provide evidence for the provenance of documents. An earlier paper described a method to compare paper structure, based on the Fourier power spectra of light transmission images. Good results were obtained by using the 2D correlation of images derived from the power spectra as a similarity score, but the method was very computationally intensive. Different comparison algorithms are evaluated in this paper, using information theoretical criteria. An angular invariant algorithm turned out to be as effective as the original one but 4 orders of magnitude faster, making the use of much larger databases possible. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

In this paper, an asymmetric scheme based on double image using phase retrieval algorithms in gyrator domain is reported. The double images are encrypted using QZ synthesis method based on QZ algorithm. The synthesized image is bonded with a random phase mask and undergoes a gyrator transform. The resultant image act as an input for the phase retrieval algorithm. We have tested the scheme with five different phase retrieval algorithms, namely the Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm, modified Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm, input–output algorithm, Yang-Gu mixture amplitude-phase retrieval algorithm, and improved amplitude-phase retrieval algorithm. Simulations are executed to show the performance, feasibility, and robustness of the scheme. The gyrator parameter and private keys are highly sensitive to a small change to their original value. Performance of different phase retrieval algorithms on the scheme is evaluated using multi-attribute decision-making tool: TOPSIS method. Results suggest that the Yang-Gu mixture amplitude-phase retrieval algorithm performs better among phase retrieval algorithms and has ranked 1 in TOPSIS analysis. Emotion detection and Sentiment analysis techniques are used to understand polarity or emotions expressed by people in many cases, especially during interactive systems use. Recognizing users' emotions is an important topic for human–computer interaction. Computers that recognize emotions would provide more natural interactions. Also, emotion detection helps design human-centred systems that provide adaptable behaviour change interventions based on users' emotions. The growing capability of machine learning to analyze big data and extract emotions therein has led to a surge in research in this domain. With this increased attention, it becomes essential to investigate this research area and provide a comprehensive review of the current state. In this paper, we conduct a systematic review of 123 papers on machine learning-based emotion detection to investigate research trends along many themes, including machine learning approaches, application domain, data, evaluation, and outcome. The results demonstrate: 1) increasing interest in this domain, 2) supervised machine learning (namely, SVM and Naïve Bayes) are the most popular algorithms, 3) Text datasets in the English language are the most common data source, and 4) most research use Accuracy to evaluate performance. The Shortest path problem is highly relevant in our daily lives, addressing uncertainties like traffic conditions and weather variations. To handle such uncertainties, we utilize Fuzzy Numbers. This paper focuses on Bipolar Neutrosophic Fuzzy Numbers, which have dual positive and negative aspects. They provide a robust framework for representing arc (node/edge) weights, signifying uncertain travel times between nodes. Importantly, these weights can change over time in bipolar neutrosophic fuzzy graphs. Our study introduces an extended Bellman-Ford Algorithm for identifying optimal paths and minimum times with time-dependent Bipolar Neutrosophic Fuzzy arc weights. With the growing use of artificial intelligence, search engine providers are increasingly pushing advertisers to use automated bidding strategies based on machine learning. Such automated decision‐making systems leave advertisers in the dark about the data being used and how they can influence the outcome of the decision‐making process. Previous literature on artificial intelligence lacks an understanding of the dangers related to artificially intelligent systems and their lack of transparency. In response, our paper addresses the inherent risks of the automated optimization of advertisers' bidding strategies in search engine advertising. The selected empirical case of a service company therefore demonstrates how data availability can trigger a long‐term decline in advertising performance and how search engine advertising performance metrics develop before and after an event of data scarcity. Based on data collected for 525 days, difference‐in‐differences analysis shows that the algorithmic approach has a considerable and lasting negative impact on advertising performance. Furthermore, the empirical case indicates that self‐regulated learning can initialize a downward spiral that gradually impairs advertising performance. Thus, the aim of this study is to increase awareness regarding automated decision‐making dangers in search engine advertising and help advertisers take preventive measures to reduce the risks of algorithm missteps. This study aims to present a comparative analysis of the Bayesian regularization backpropagation and Levenberg–Marquardt training algorithms in neural networks for the metrics prediction of damaged archaeological artifacts, of which the state of conservation is often fragmented due to different reasons, such as ritual, use wear, or post-depositional processes. In the distribution system, voltage sags and swell have adverse effects on sensitive and critical loads. Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) play a vital role to mitigate voltage sags and swell through its organized control when connected in series with the system. Various conventional control schemes have been reported for the control of DVR. The performance of DVR with these schemes has been successful in the mitigation of voltage sags/swell, but drawbacks, such as undershoot, and overshoot during sag dynamics are observed in the regulated load terminal voltage. These drawbacks may cause malfunctioning of the equipment connected and hence their elimination is indispensable. With this inspiration, a novel Adaline filter-based adaptive control scheme using learning-rate parameter-based Least-Mean-Square algorithm has been proposed. This scheme has the capability to overcome the drawbacks with the conventional control schemes thus improving the performance of DVR. In this paper, the performance of DVR using proposed algorithm is compared with that using synchronous reference frame (SRF)-based conventional control scheme. Popular Secp256k1 and Schnorr algorithms offer strong security in current Blockchains. However, they are vulnerable to quantum attacks. To solve this problem, several quantum-resistant algorithms have been proposed. However, the performance evaluations and tangible analyses of these algorithms on current Blockchains have not been studied yet. In this context, a performance analysis of quantum-resistant algorithms on a Blockchain can provide valuable insight into the efficiency of quantum-resistant algorithms in real-world scenarios. To address this need, we prototyped and analyzed a quantum-resistant Blockchain using the Falcon algorithm. Falcon is selected because it provides smaller signature and key size compared to Crystals-Dilithium and Sphincs+. We then measured in real-time the key size, transaction signature size, and transaction verification time. The paper also discusses the potential scalability limitations of the proposed quantum-resistant Blockchain and suggests an approach to select quantum-resistant algorithms based on different Blockchain use cases. With the emergence and vigorous development of 5G technology, there is a significant surge in network usage and traffic, resulting in heightened complexity within network and IT environments. This exponential increase in activity produces a plethora of events, making conventional systems inadequate for the efficient management of 5G networks. In comparison to 4G technology, 5G technology brings forth a host of new features, one of which is the network data analytics function (NWDAF). This function grants network operators the flexibility to either employ their own data analytics methodologies based on machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) into their networks. In this paper, we present a dataset named "NWDAF-NFPP" for network function performance time series prediction, collected from a laboratory at China Telecom. The dataset is carefully anonymized to ensure maximum realism and comprehensiveness, while safeguarding sensitive information. It encompasses eight categories of network functions, with data collected at five-minute intervals. The availability of this dataset provides valuable resources for researchers to conduct time series prediction research on network element performance. Following data collection, a total of six models were employed for network element performance prediction, encompassing both machine learning and deep learning approaches. This diverse set of models was carefully chosen to ensure comprehensive coverage of different techniques and algorithms. Through the comparison and analysis of these models, we aim to evaluate their predictive capabilities and identify the most effective approach for network element performance prediction. This comparative analysis will provide valuable insights into the strengths and limitations of each model, aiding in informed decision-making for network optimization and management strategies in the future. The vulnerable children refer to the special group of children with deviation in the process of children's psychological development and personality formation due to growth dilemmas. This may incur a series of serious social and family problems. The vulnerable children mainly cover the children suffering from children's psychological problems, such as childhood autism, autism, social anxiety and hypersensitivity, fear, depression, and PTSD arising from other factors. At present, the research results at home and abroad mainly focus on the psychological dynamic correlation investigation and solution discussion of a certain kind of difficult factor in the children's psychological development based on statistical data by the experimental methods, such as scale and model, and there is a blind spot in the humanistic orientation theory construction of psychological treatment for vulnerable children, causing the social reflection on children's psychological predicament from the humanistic perspective cannot be performed in related researches and going against searching for universal and integral theoretical paradigm for solving related problems. Sophisticated technologies for the observations have emerged increasingly for enabling the psychological features of vulnerable children through developmental cognitive neuroscience experiments. This paper introduces humanistic art therapy theory, focuses on the construction of a theoretical paradigm, and verifies its effectiveness based on the experimental results on the psychological development of vulnerable children, with an efficient performance. This study mainly refers to children with difficulty in social inclusion and psychological development. The results showed that two kinds of art therapy can obviously improve the psychological disorders of vulnerable children. Background: This study is the first to address the topic of schematic versus realistic dynamic visualization with particular focus on the human movement effect (HME) when the content to be learned takes the form of a computer algorithm. An AlgoRythmics dance choreography illustration (HM‐realistic) was compared with an abstract computer animation (schematic). Previous research in the field of dynamic visualizations found schematic illustrations to be more effective, but the examined realistic representations did not include HME. Objectives: The objective of this study was to explore the process of comprehension of computer algorithms from these two types of representations (abstract animation vs. dance choreography illustration). Methods: The experiment (pre‐test, study phase, post‐test) involved 84 undergraduate students and included the following conditions (2 × 2 between‐participants‐design): HM‐realistic → HM‐realistic, schematic → schematic, HM‐realistic → schematic, schematic → HM‐realistic. Results and Conclusions: The results reveal that: (i) the group of participants who saw the dance choreography twice outperformed those who saw the computer animation twice; (ii) dance choreography illustration is only beneficial if it is presented as the second visualization. These findings are apparently contrary to the conclusions of some relevant previous research in the field, but they are in line with recent results regarding the HME. Image restoration is an interesting ill-posed problem. It plays a critical role in the concept of image processing. We are looking for an image that is as near to the original as possible among images that have been skewed by Gaussian and additive noise. Image deconstruction is a technique for restoring a noisy image after it has been captured. The numerical results achieved by the prox-penalty method and the split Bregman algorithm for anisotropic and isotropic TV denoising problems in terms of image quality, convergence, and signal noise rate (SNR) are compared in this paper. It should be mentioned that isotropic TV denoising is faster than anisotropic. Experimental results indicate that the prox algorithm produces the best high-quality output (clean, not smooth, and textures are preserved). In particular, we obtained (21.4, 21) the SNR of the denoising image by the prox for sigma 0.08 and 0.501, such as we obtained (10.0884, 10.1155) the SNR of the denoising image by the anisotropic TV and the isotropic TV for sigma 0.08 and (-1.4635, -1.4733) for sigma 0.501. Objective: Most preventable adverse drug events and medication errors occur during medication ordering. Medication order entry and clinical decision support are available on paper or as computerized systems. In this post-hoc analysis we investigated frequency and clinical impact of blood glucose (BG) documentation- and user-related calculation errors as well as workflow deviations in diabetes management. We aimed to compare a paper-based protocol to a computerized medication management system combined with clinical workflow and decision support.Methods: Seventy-nine hospitalized patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were treated with an algorithm driven basal-bolus insulin regimen. BG measurements, which were the basis for insulin dose calculations, were manually entered either into the paper-based workflow protocol (PaperG: 37 patients) or into GlucoTab(®)-a mobile tablet PC based system (CompG: 42 patients). We used BG values from the laboratory information system as a reference. A workflow simulator was used to determine user calculation errors as well as workflow deviations and to estimate the effect of errors on insulin doses. The clinical impact of insulin dosing errors and workflow deviations on hypo- and hyperglycemia was investigated.Results: The BG documentation error rate was similar for PaperG (4.9%) and CompG group (4.0%). In PaperG group, 11.1% of manual insulin dose calculations were erroneous and the odds ratio (OR) of a hypoglycemic event following an insulin dosing error was 3.1 (95% CI: 1.4-6.8). The number of BG values influenced by insulin dosing errors was eightfold higher than in the CompG group. In the CompG group, workflow deviations occurred in 5.0% of the tasks which led to an increased likelihood of hyperglycemia, OR 2.2 (95% CI: 1.1-4.6).Discussion: Manual insulin dose calculations were the major source of error and had a particularly strong influence on hypoglycemia. By using GlucoTab(®), user calculation errors were entirely excluded. The immediate availability and automated handling of BG values from medical devices directly at the point of care has a high potential to reduce errors. Computerized systems facilitate the safe use of more complex insulin dosing algorithms without compromising usability. In CompG group, missed or delayed tasks had a significant effect on hyperglycemia, while in PaperG group insufficient precision of documentation times limited analysis. The use of old BG measurements was clinically less relevant.Conclusion: Insulin dosing errors and workflow deviations led to measurable changes in clinical outcome. Diabetes management systems including decision support should address nurses as well as physicians in a computerized way. The main purpose of identifying and locating the retina vessels is to specify from the fundus image the various tissues of the vascular structure, which can be wide or tight. The classification of vessels in the retinal image often confronts several challenges, such as the low contrast accompanying the fundus image, the inhomogeneity of the background lighting, and the noise. Moreover, fuzzy c-means (FCM) is one of the most frequently used algorithms for medical image segmentation due to its effectiveness. Hence, many FCM method derivatives have been developed to improve their noise robustness and time-consuming. This paper aims to analyze the performance of some improved FCM algorithms to recommend the best ones for the segmentation of retinal blood vessels. Eight derivatives of FCM algorithm are detained in this study: FCM, EnFCM, SFCM, FGFCM, FRFCM, DSFCM_N, FCM_SICM and SSFCA. The performance analysis is conducted from three viewpoints: noise robustness, blood vessels segmentation performance, and time-consuming. At first, the noise robustness of improved FCM clustering algorithms is evaluated using a synthetic image degraded by various types and levels of noise. Then, the ability of the selected algorithms to segment retinal blood vessels is assessed based on images from the DRIVE and STARE databases after a pre-processing phase. Finally, the time consumption of each algorithm is measured. The experiments demonstrate that the FRFCM and DSFCM_N algorithms achieve better results in terms of noise robustness and blood vessels segmentation. Regarding the running time, the FRFCM algorithm requires less time than other algorithms in the segmentation of retinal images. Consensus algorithm based on credit has significant advantages in consensus efficiency and security, which has received great attention from academy and industry in recent years. This paper made a comparative analysis of the current consensus algorithms based on credit to provide reference for researchers to study in depth. Firstly, this paper systematically reviewed the state-of-the-art consensus algorithms based on credit, gave its development history, classification and core working principle, and summarized its credit calculation model and performance evaluation indicators. Secondly, it analyzed the creditbased consensus algorithms qualitatively and quantitatively, and pointed out their advantages and disadvantages. Finally, aiming at the problems of insufficient credit incentive and low integration with the consensus process in the state-of-the-art consensus algorithms, this paper proposed to optimize from the credit incentive based on game theory and designing efficient communication topology, and gave the future research direction. Federated learning (FL), a relatively new area of research in medical image analysis, enables collaborative learning of a federated deep learning model without sharing the data of participating clients. In this paper, we propose FedDropoutAvg, a new federated learning approach for detection of tumor in images of colon tissue slides. The proposed method leverages the power of dropout, a commonly employed scheme to avoid overfitting in neural networks, in both client selection and federated averaging processes. We examine FedDropoutAvg against other FL benchmark algorithms for two different image classification tasks using a publicly available multi-site histopathology image dataset. We train and test the proposed model on a large dataset consisting of 1.2 million image tiles from 21 different sites. For testing the generalization of all models, we select held-out test sets from sites that were not used during training. We show that the proposed approach outperforms other FL methods and reduces the performance gap (to less than 3% in terms of AUC on independent test sites) between FL and a central deep learning model that requires all data to be shared for centralized training, demonstrating the potential of the proposed FedDropoutAvg model to be more generalizable than other state-of-the-art federated models. To develop the Glasgow Outcome Scale-Extended (GOSE) mobile application and examine the validity of the application against GOSE scoring based on traditional interview method. Concurrent validity was determined by comparing two independent raters' scoring for GOSE of 102 patients with traumatic brain injury, who had attended outpatient department of a tertiary neuro hospital. Agreement was assessed between the traditional interview-based pen and paper scoring and algorithm based mobile application scoring of GOSE. Agreement was tested using Cohen's kappa, and the analysis revealed near perfect agreement between two raters (0.89) (p < 0.01). The GOSE mobile application can measure GOSE Score similar to the traditional interview method. Background: It is vital to understand students' Self‐Regulatory Learning (SRL) processes, especially in Blended Learning (BL), when students need to be more autonomous in their learning process. In studying SRL, most researchers have followed a variable‐oriented approach. Moreover, little has been known about the unfolding process of students' SRL profiles. Objectives: We present the insights derived from a study that measured motivation and the learning strategies used by 198 students of a university entry‐level, business school, BL course to develop an understanding of students' SRL processes. Methods: The Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) was used to survey 198 students three times during a semester to investigate SRL profiles and how they unfolded as the course progressed using a person‐oriented approach. Through a clustering approach, we focus on MSLQ's motivation aspects as its importance has been emphasised by different SRL theories, and extant research into motivation in learning analytics (LA) is still lacking. Results and Conclusions: Through the longitudinal clustering approach, we identified minimally, average, and highly SRL profiles. We acknowledged that students might change their SRL profiles as the course progressed as a result of feedback they received. This paper employs two data-driven methods, Random Forest (RF) and Support Vector Machines (SVM), to develop mineral prospectivity models for an epithermal Au deposit. Four distinct models are presented for comparison: one employing RF and three using SVM with different kernel functions—namely linear, Radial Basis Function (RBF), and polynomial. The analysis leverages a compact training dataset, encompassing just 20 deposits, with deposit and non-deposit locations chosen from known mineral occurrences. Fourteen predictor maps are constructed based on the available data and the exploration model. The findings indicate that RF is more stable and robust than SVM, regardless of the kernel function implemented. While all SVM models outperformed the RF model in terms of classification capability on the training dataset achieving an accuracy exceeding 89% versus 78% for the RF model, the success rate curves suggest superior predictive abilities of RF over SVM models. The results showed that the expression level of GDF-15 was significant in early primary liver cancer (tumor diameter <2.5 cm). To maintain population diversity, a population initialization method and a neighborhood-based search operator are used, both of which are based on a thorough consideration of the characteristics of complex networks. The neighborhood search strategy enhances the local search capability of the TLBO (Teaching-Learning Based Optimization) algorithm. The optimized TLBO algorithm presented in this paper achieves the highest average modularity value of 0.5238 through testing on real-world data sets. Valvular Heart Disease is a known iatrogenic effect of radiation leakage to the heart during radiotherapy and is often linked with the occurrence of other cardiac diseases like heart failure. Early identification and treatment of survivors prone to develop valvular heart disease is an important public health issue that remains challenging. In the FCCSS, a voxel-scaled reconstruction of radiation dose to the heart is available for patients that had been treated with radiotherapy. This type of uncommon data allows us to take into consideration information on the dose level that was absorbed by the cardiac tissues, as well as on the spatial characteristics of radiation dose distribution to the heart. With the help of machine learning algorithms, we attempted to train models capable of accurately predicting survivors high at risk of experiencing a late valvular heart disease after radiotherapy for childhood cancer. We suggest that there is an underlying association of the radiation dose with the occurrence of a valvular heart disease that goes beyond the mean dose to the heart and can be explained by the combination of spatial and descriptive features of the dose. Valvular Heart Disease (VHD) is a known late complication of radiotherapy for childhood cancer (CC), and identifying high-risk survivors correctly remains a challenge. This paper focuses on the distribution of the radiation dose absorbed by heart tissues. We propose that a dosiomics signature could provide insight into the spatial characteristics of the heart dose associated with a VHD, beyond the already-established risk induced by high doses. We analyzed data from the 7670 survivors of the French Childhood Cancer Survivors' Study (FCCSS), 3902 of whom were treated with radiotherapy. In all, 63 (1.6%) survivors that had been treated with radiotherapy experienced a VHD, and 57 of them had heterogeneous heart doses. From the heart–dose distribution of each survivor, we extracted 93 first-order and spatial dosiomics features. We trained random forest algorithms adapted for imbalanced classification and evaluated their predictive performance compared to the performance of standard mean heart dose (MHD)-based models. Sensitivity analyses were also conducted for sub-populations of survivors with spatially heterogeneous heart doses. Our results suggest that MHD and dosiomics-based models performed equally well globally in our cohort and that, when considering the sub-population having received a spatially heterogeneous dose distribution, the predictive capability of the models is significantly improved by the use of the dosiomics features. If these findings are further validated, the dosiomics signature may be incorporated into machine learning algorithms for radiation-induced VHD risk assessment and, in turn, into the personalized refinement of follow-up guidelines. Introduction: A peripheral blood smear is a basic test for hematological disease diagnosis. This test is performed manually in many places worldwide, which requires both time and qualified staff. Large laboratories are equipped with digital morphology analyzers, some of which are based on deep learning methods. However, it is difficult to explain to scientists how they work. In this paper, we proposed to add an explanatory factor to enhance the interpretability of deep learning models in leukocyte classification. Methods: 10 297 single images of leukocytes obtained from peripheral blood smears were included in this study. Pre‐trained and fully trained VGG16 and VGG19 models were used to classify the leukocytes, and Shapley Additive Explanations (SHAP) DeepExplainer was applied to visualize the area of cells that were significant for classification. The output images from the DeepExplainer were compared with cellular elements that are essential to laboratory practice. Results: The accuracy of our fully trained models was 99.81% for VGG16 and 99.79% for VGG19. It achieved slightly better results than the partially trained model, which scored 98.67% for VGG16 and 98.33% for VGG19. Their SHAP explanations indicated the significance of cellular structures in microscopic examination. Explanations in the pre‐trained models have proved the cell and nucleus contours to be relevant to classification, while explanations in the fully trained models pointed to the cytoplasm area. Conclusion: Despite different SHAP DeepExplainer explanations for fully and partially trained models, this method appears to be helpful for the verification of leukocyte classification in automated peripheral blood smear examination. Reduced-representation sequencing (RRS) provides cost-effective and time-saving genotyping platforms. Despite the outstanding advantage of RRS in throughput, the obtained genotype data usually contain a large number of errors. Several error correction methods employing the hidden Markov model (HMM) have been developed to overcome these issues. These methods assume that markers have a uniform error rate with no bias in the allele read ratio. However, bias does occur because of uneven amplification of genomic fragments and read mismapping. In this paper, we introduce an error correction tool, GBScleanR, which enables robust and precise error correction for noisy RRS-based genotype data by incorporating marker-specific error rates into the HMM. The results indicate that GBScleanR improves the accuracy by more than 25 percentage points at maximum compared to the existing tools in simulation data sets and achieves the most reliable genotype estimation in real data even with error-prone markers. In diagnostic medicine, the true disease status of a patient is often represented on an ordinal scale—for example, cancer stage (0, I, II, III, or IV) or coronary artery disease severity measured using the Coronary Artery Disease Reporting and Data System (CAD-RADS) scale (none, minimal, mild, moderate, severe, or occluded). With advances in quantitation of diagnostic images and in artificial intelligence (AI), both supervised and unsupervised algorithms are being developed to help physicians correctly grade disease. Most of the diagnostic accuracy literature deals with binary disease status (disease present or absent); however, tests diagnosing ordinal-scaled diseases should not be reduced to a binary status just to simplify diagnostic accuracy testing. In this paper, we propose different characterizations of ordinal-scale accuracy for different clinical use scenarios, along with methods for comparing tests. In the simplest scenario, just the proportion of correct grades is considered; other scenarios address the magnitude and direction of misgrading; and at the other extreme, a weighted accuracy measure with weights based on the relative costs of different types of misgrading is presented. The various scenarios are illustrated using a coronary artery disease example where the accuracy of AI algorithms in providing patients with the correct CAD-RADS grade is assessed. Disease risk prediction is a rising challenge in the medical domain. Researchers have widely used machine learning algorithms to solve this challenge. The k-nearest neighbour (KNN) algorithm is the most frequently used among the wide range of machine learning algorithms. This paper presents a study on different KNN variants (Classic one, Adaptive, Locally adaptive, k-means clustering, Fuzzy, Mutual, Ensemble, Hassanat and Generalised mean distance) and their performance comparison for disease prediction. This study analysed these variants in-depth through implementations and experimentations using eight machine learning benchmark datasets obtained from Kaggle, UCI Machine learning repository and OpenML. The datasets were related to different disease contexts. We considered the performance measures of accuracy, precision and recall for comparative analysis. The average accuracy values of these variants ranged from 64.22% to 83.62%. The Hassanaat KNN showed the highest average accuracy (83.62%), followed by the ensemble approach KNN (82.34%). A relative performance index is also proposed based on each performance measure to assess each variant and compare the results. This study identified Hassanat KNN as the best performing variant based on the accuracy-based version of this index, followed by the ensemble approach KNN. This study also provided a relative comparison among KNN variants based on precision and recall measures. Finally, this paper summarises which KNN variant is the most promising candidate to follow under the consideration of three performance measures (accuracy, precision and recall) for disease prediction. Background: MiRNA is a class of non-coding single-stranded RNA molecules with a length of approximately 22 nucleotides encoded by endogenous genes, which can regulate the expression of other genes. Therefore, it is very important to predict the associations between miRNA and disease. Predecessors developed a new prediction method of drug-disease association, and it achieved good results.Methods: In this paper, we introduced the method of LAGCN to identify potential miRNA-disease associations. First, we integrate three associations into a heterogeneous network, such as the known miRNA-disease association, miRNA-miRNA similarities and disease-disease similarities, next we apply graph convolution network to learn the embedding of miRNA and disease. We use an attention mechanism to combine embedding from multiple convolution layers. Unobserved miRNA-disease associations are scored based on integrated embedding.Results: After fivefold cross-validations, the value of AUC is reached 0.9091, which is higher than other prediction methods and baseline methods.Conclusions: In this paper, we introduced the method of LAGCN to identify potential miRNA-disease associations. Aiming at the problems that the local feature descriptions of point clouds have poor robustness to noise, point density changes and other factors, this paper proposed a new algorithm of point cloud local feature description based on the signature of regional centers. Taking the query points as the center, it constructed a spherical bounding box and evenly divided it into five main regions along the radial direction. Then along the different azimuth angles and elevation angles, it divided the main regions into several sub-regions with gradually increasing volume along the radial direction. By fusing the different sub-regions local features encoded by vertex coordinates, number of vertices, and center values, it generated the signature of regional centers descriptor. Artificial intelligence is an enabling technology for autonomous surface vehicles, with methods such as evolutionary algorithms, artificial potential fields, fast marching methods, and many others becoming increasingly popular for solving problems such as path planning and collision avoidance. However, there currently is no unified way to evaluate the performance of different algorithms, for example with regard to safety or risk. This paper is a step in that direction and offers a comparative study of current state-of-the art path planning and collision avoidance algorithms for autonomous surface vehicles. Across 45 selected papers, we compare important performance properties of the proposed algorithms related to the vessel and the environment it is operating in. We also analyse how safety is incorporated, and what components constitute the objective function in these algorithms. Finally, we focus on comparing advantages and limitations of the 45 analysed papers. A key area of wireless communications is visible light communication which uses solid-state light-emitting-diode. This paper shows, a comparative study to optimize the received signal strength indication (RSSI) in the optical wireless link between two optimization algorithms. The optimization algorithm we used in the paper is a genetic algorithm (GA) and a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. To, compute the maximum RSSI over the non-line-of-sight (NLOS) link, within an indoor environment, and to find the optimum NLOS route through distinct angles to achieve better communication quality, we have used those algorithms. Simulations were performed at matlab to check the feasibility of the scheme proposed. Also, we have compared the efficiency of the both system. In addition, GA and PSO detect the maximum RSSI of the receiver (Rx) in a specific direction instead of calculating RSSI at any random angle. The simulation result shows that the proposed system precisely detects the direction that provides an optimal RSSI for the Rx. This paper concludes that the GA is computationally effective while compared with PSO. After several iterations, the result estimates that the average elapsed time of the GA is 0.21 ms and the PSO is 30 ms, respectively. Under the background of 18F-FDG-PET/CT multimodal whole-body imaging for lung tumor diagnosis, for the problems of network degradation and high dimension features during convolutional neural network (CNN) training, beginning with the perspective of dividing sample space, an E-ResNet-NRC (ensemble ResNet nonnegative representation classifier) model is proposed in this paper. The model includes the following steps: (1) Parameters of a pretrained ResNet model are initialized using transfer learning. (2) Samples are divided into three different sample spaces (CT, PET, and PET/CT) based on the differences in multimodal medical images PET/CT, and ROI of the lesion was extracted. (3) The ResNet neural network was used to extract ROI features and obtain feature vectors. (4) Individual classifier ResNet-NRC was constructed with nonnegative representation NRC at a fully connected layer. (5) Ensemble classifier E-ResNet-NRC was constructed using the "relative majority voting method." Finally, two network models, AlexNet and ResNet-50, and three classification algorithms, nearest neighbor classification algorithm (NNC), softmax, and nonnegative representation classification algorithm (NRC), were combined to compare with the E-ResNet-NRC model in this paper. The experimental results show that the overall classification performance of the Ensemble E-ResNet-NRC model is better than the individual ResNet-NRC, and specificity and sensitivity are more higher; the E-ResNet-NRC has better robustness and generalization ability. Medical imaging feature analysis is the basis of medical image processing and analysis. The solution of this problem not only directly affects the successful application of computer graphics and image technology in medicine but also has important theoretical and practical significance. In this paper, the imaging characteristics and clinical significance are discussed by studying the comprehensive evaluation of aortic valve and root before aortic valve replacement. In recent years, preoperative comprehensive evaluation of the aortic valve and root has been gradually carried out. Compared with traditional methods, minimally invasive surgery brings more accurate diagnosis to patients, quick recovery and discharge after surgery, and less pain. This study retrospectively includes patients with severe aortic stenosis who underwent TAVR with routine computed tomography. Based on CT images, the determination and grouping of bicuspid aortic valve and tricuspid aortic valve were completed. Thirteen cross-sectional levels of the aorta-iliac-femoral vascular access were completed. The results showed that 3 people had stroke (17.6%) and 5 people had myocardial infarction (29.4%) during the follow-up period. Atrial fibrillation occurred in 5 patients (29.4%), permanent pacemaker implantation was performed in 1 patient (5.9%), and acute kidney injury occurred in 7 patients (41.2%). No patient died due to surgery-related causes, and the analysis of imaging features and clinical significance in the preoperative comprehensive evaluation of the aortic valve and root played a crucial role. In the training stage, the principal component analysis method was used to train the shape, and the model of the shape intensity of the aortic valve and the shape change of each principal component was obtained. The most probable aortic valve region in the target image was obtained by matching the similarity of all atlases, and the correct aortic valve segmentation was obtained by using the first level set of shape intensity. In this paper, in addition to proposing a network care continuum with artificial intelligence handler in order to improve the healthcare system and provide new ideas for improving the postoperative recovery of CHD patients, we analyze the impact of PCI on the coronary heart disease patients' PCI postoperative quality of life. In the method part, this article introduces the concepts of continuation care and PCI after surgery, introduces the marker delivery algorithm in the field of artificial intelligence, and introduces the SF-36 scale for patient quality of life analysis. This article designs an experiment combining artificial intelligence processors to carry out network continuity care for patients and divides 100 eligible patients into an experimental group and a control group. In the analysis part, the two groups of patients were analyzed in terms of general data comparison, physical function, biochemical indicators, quality of life, and dependence. It can be seen from the experimental analysis that the anxiety and depression of the two groups of subjects have different degrees of decline. The HAMA value of the experimental group is 9.06 ± 0.77 , and the HAMD value is 9.18 ± 1.20 , which is significantly lower than that of the control group, P < 0.05. It can be seen that the use of network continuation care can reduce the negative emotions of patients more than general care. Through psychological counseling and postoperative follow-up, it can improve the optimism and positive emotions of the patients, reduce the negative emotions of the patients, and improve it to a certain extent. Objective. Internet of Things (IoT) integrates several technologies where devices learn from the experience of each other thereby reducing human-intervened likely errors. Modern technologies like IoT and machine learning enable the conventional to patient-specific approach transition in healthcare. In conventional approach, the biggest challenge faced by healthcare professionals is to predict a disease by observing the symptoms, monitoring the remote area patient, and also attending to the patient all the time after being hospitalised. IoT provides real-time data, makes decision-making smarter, and provides far superior analytics, and all these to help improve the quality of healthcare. The main objective of the work was to create an IoT-based automated system using machine learning models for symptom-based COVID-19 prognosis. Methods. Comparative analysis of predictive microbiology of COVID-19 from case symptoms using various machine learning classifiers like logistics regression, k-nearest neighbor, support vector machine, random forest, decision trees, Naïve Bayes, and gradient booster is reported here. For the sake of the validation and verification of the models, performance of each model based on the retrieved cloud-stored data was measured for accuracy. Results. From the accuracy plot, it was concluded that k-NN was more accurate (97.97%) followed by decision tree (97.79), support vector machine (97.42), logistics regression (96.50), random forest (90.66), gradient boosting classifier (87.77), and Naïve Bayes (73.50) in COVID-19 prognosis. Conclusion. The paper presents a health monitoring IoT framework having high clinical significance in real-time and remote healthcare monitoring. The findings reported here and the lessons learnt shall enable the healthcare system worldwide to counter not only this ongoing COVID but many other such global pandemics the humanity may suffer from time to come. The super-resolution (SR) reconstruction of a single image is an important image synthesis task especially for medical applications. This paper is studying the application of image segmentation for lung cancer images. This research work is utilizing the power of deep learning for resolution reconstruction for lung cancer-based images. At present, the neural networks utilized for image segmentation and classification are suffering from the loss of information where information passes through one layer to another deep layer. The commonly used loss functions include content-based reconstruction loss and generative confrontation network. The sparse coding single-image super-resolution reconstruction algorithm can easily lead to the phenomenon of incorrect geometric structure in the reconstructed image. In order to solve the problem of excessive smoothness and blurring of the reconstructed image edges caused by the introduction of this self-similarity constraint, a two-layer reconstruction framework based on a smooth layer and a texture layer is proposed for a medical application of lung cancer. This method uses a global nonzero gradient number constrained reconstruction model to reconstruct the smooth layer. The proposed sparse coding method is used to reconstruct high-resolution texture images. Finally, a global and local optimization models are used to further improve the quality of the reconstructed image. An adaptive multiscale remote sensing image super-division reconstruction network is designed. The selective core network and adaptive gating unit are integrated to extract and fuse features to obtain a preliminary reconstruction. Through the proposed dual-drive module, the feature prior drive loss and task drive loss are transmitted to the super-resolution network. The proposed work not only improves the subjective visual effect but the robustness has also been enhanced with more accurate construction of edges. Metastatic femoral tumors may lead to pathological fractures during daily activities. A CT-based finite element analysis of a patient's femurs was shown to assist orthopedic surgeons in making informed decisions about the risk of fracture and the need for a prophylactic fixation. Improving the accuracy of such analyses ruqires an automatic and accurate segmentation of the tumors and their automatic inclusion in the finite element model. We present herein a deep learning algorithm (nnU-Net) to automatically segment lytic tumors within the femur. A dataset consisting of fifty CT scans of patients with manually annotated femoral tumors was created. Forty of them, chosen randomly, were used for training the nnU-Net, while the remaining ten CT scans were used for testing. The deep learning model's performance was compared to two experienced radiologists. The proposed algorithm outperformed the current state-of-the-art solutions, achieving dice similarity scores of 0.67 and 0.68 on the test data when compared to two experienced radiologists, while the dice similarity score for inter-individual variability between the radiologists was 0.73. The automatic algorithm may segment lytic femoral tumors in CT scans as accurately as experienced radiologists with similar dice similarity scores. Introduction: The U.S. Army medics are often the first responders in the care of sick and injured soldiers on the battlefield, sick call in a Role 2 aid station and garrison clinics. Sick call medics are required to utilize the Algorithm Directed Troop Medical Care (ADTMC) to care for and then render a disposition for these soldiers. The current ADTMC manual is a thick, heavy paper manual. A desktop and smartphone application has been developed that contains the entire ADTMC manual algorithm-based content. Our goal is to enhance the medics' clinical learning and critical thinking skills while improving their evaluation, disposition, and documentation during patient encounters.Materials and Methods: The application was field-tested with the 173rd IBCT (A) while attending a field exercise at Grafenwoehr, Germany. At the unit's Role 2 tent setup, the use of the paper manual to the utilization of the same material via the ADTMC application was compared by observing the medics' workflows directly while they were caring for ill and injured soldiers.Results: Medics, while examining patients, would demonstrate 50% faster exam time using the application compared to medics using only the manual. Moreover, a 50% decrease in document processing time as a result of digitization of the paper documentation process was confirmed. The application ("app") enabled the medics to continue their screening assessments and patient disposition duties on a desktop computer or a smartphone without the need to refer to the paper manual.Conclusion: Medics, by adopting this tool, will become quicker, more efficient, and develop critical thinking skills. In other words, the ability to objectively evaluate patients in order to form a proper disposition of sick and injured soldiers during training, in the field, as well as in garrison. When utilized properly, the ADTMC application ensures that soldiers reporting to sick call are expeditiously routed to the appropriate level of care, and is a vehicle for further training for medics in the care of soldiers. Different from traditional images, light field images record not only spatial information but also angle information. Due to the large volume of light field data brings great difficulties to storage and compression, light field compression technology has attracted much attention. The epipolar plane image (EPI) contains a lot of low rank information, which is suitable for recovering the complete EPI from a part of EPI. In this paper, a light field image coding framework based on EPI restoration neural network has been proposed. Compared with previous algorithms, the proposed algorithm further takes advantage of the inherent similarity in light field images, and the proposed framework has higher performance and robustness.
