Studies indicate cardiac arrhythmia is one of the leading causes of death in the world. The risk of a stroke may be reduced when an irregular and fast heart rate is diagnosed. Since it is non-invasive, electrocardiograms are often used to detect arrhythmias. Human data input may be error-prone and time-consuming because of these limitations. For early detection of heart rhythm problems, it is best to use deep learning models. In this paper, a hybrid bio-inspired algorithm has been proposed by combining whale optimization (WOA) with adaptive particle swarm optimization (APSO). The WOA is a recently developed meta-heuristic algorithm. APSO is used to increase convergence speed. When compared to conventional optimization methods, the two techniques work better together. MIT-BIH dataset has been utilized for training, testing and validating this model. The recall, accuracy, and specificity are used to measure efficiency of the proposed method. In numerous scientific disciplines and practical applications, addressing optimization challenges is a common imperative. Nature-inspired optimization algorithms represent a highly valuable and pragmatic approach to tackling these complexities. This paper introduces Dendritic Growth Optimization (DGO), a novel algorithm inspired by natural branching patterns. DGO offers a novel solution for intricate optimization problems and demonstrates its efficiency in exploring diverse solution spaces. The algorithm has been extensively tested with a suite of machine learning algorithms, deep learning algorithms, and metaheuristic algorithms, and the results, both before and after optimization, unequivocally support the proposed algorithm's feasibility, effectiveness, and generalizability. Through empirical validation using established datasets like diabetes and breast cancer, the algorithm consistently enhances model performance across various domains. Beyond its working and experimental analysis, DGO's wide-ranging applications in machine learning, logistics, and engineering for solving real-world problems have been highlighted. The study also considers the challenges and practical implications of implementing DGO in multiple scenarios. Intrusion detection systems (IDS) play a crucial role in securing networks and identifying malicious activity. This is a critical problem in cyber security. In recent years, metaheuristic optimization algorithms and deep learning techniques have been applied to IDS to improve their accuracy and efficiency. Generally, optimization algorithms can be used to boost the performance of IDS models. Deep learning methods, such as convolutional neural networks, have also been used to improve the ability of IDS to detect and classify intrusions. In this paper, we propose a new IDS model based on the combination of deep learning and optimization methods. First, a feature extraction method based on CNNs is developed. Then, a new feature selection method is used based on a modified version of Growth Optimizer (GO), called MGO. We use the Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) to boost the search process of the GO. Extensive evaluation and comparisons have been conducted to assess the quality of the suggested method using public datasets of cloud and Internet of Things (IoT) environments. The applied techniques have shown promising results in identifying previously unknown attacks with high accuracy rates. This comprehensive review focuses on the Autonomous Driving System (ADS), which aims to reduce human errors that are the reason for about 95% of car accidents. The ADS consists of six stages: sensors, perception, localization, assessment, path planning, and control. We explain the main state-of-the-art techniques used in each stage, analyzing 275 papers, with 162 specifically on path planning due to its complexity, NP-hard optimization nature, and pivotal role in ADS. This paper categorizes path planning techniques into three primary groups: traditional (graph-based, sampling-based, gradient-based, optimization-based, interpolation curve algorithms), machine and deep learning, and meta-heuristic optimization, detailing their advantages and drawbacks. Findings show that meta-heuristic optimization methods, representing 23% of our study, are preferred for being general problem solvers capable of handling complex problems. In addition, they have faster convergence and reduced risk of local minima. Machine and deep learning techniques, accounting for 25%, are favored for their learning capabilities and fast responses to known scenarios. The trend towards hybrid algorithms (27%) combines various methods, merging each algorithm's benefits and overcoming the other's drawbacks. Moreover, adaptive parameter tuning is crucial to enhance efficiency, applicability, and balancing the search capability. This review sheds light on the future of path planning in autonomous driving systems, helping to tackle current challenges and unlock the full capabilities of autonomous vehicles. Deep neural networks (DNNs) have evolved as a beneficial machine learning method that has been successfully used in various applications. Currently, DNN is a superior technique of extracting information from massive sets of data in a self-organized method. DNNs have different structures and parameters, which are usually produced for particular applications. Nevertheless, the training procedures of DNNs can be protracted depending on the given application and the size of the training set. Further, determining the most precise and practical structure of a deep learning method in a reasonable time is a possible problem related to this procedure. Meta-heuristics techniques, such as swarm intelligence (SI) and evolutionary computing (EC), represent optimization frames with specific theories and objective functions. These methods are adjustable and have been demonstrated their effectiveness in various applications; hence, they can optimize the DNNs models. This paper presents a comprehensive survey of the recent optimization methods (i.e., SI and EC) employed to enhance DNNs performance on various tasks. This paper also analyzes the importance of optimization methods in generating the optimal hyper-parameters and structures of DNNs in taking into consideration massive-scale data. Computer-aided diagnosis system is becoming a more and more important tool in clinical treatment, which can provide a verification of the doctors' decisions. In this paper, we proposed a novel abnormal brain detection method for magnetic resonance image. Firstly, a pre-trained AlexNet was modified with batch normalization layers and trained on our brain images. Then, the last several layers were replaced with an extreme learning machine. A searching method was proposed to find the best number of layers to be replaced. Finally, the extreme learning machine was optimized by chaotic bat algorithm to obtain better classification performance. Task scheduling is a major challenging issue in parallel and distributed heterogeneous computing systems. The task scheduling problem in a heterogeneous multiprocessor system typically comprises two phases: assigning priority to tasks and mapping tasks to processors. This work considers the task scheduling problem a multi-objective optimization problem to minimize the makespan and maximize the processor utilization. In this paper, the authors have proposed a novel dynamic task scheduling algorithm that is based on an existing metaheuristic algorithm called Black Widow Optimization (BWO) and an existing deep learning method called Deep Recurrent Neural Network (DRNN) to achieve the objective. The scheduling algorithm is called DRNN-BWO (DRNN trained by using BWO). Authors have used the Upward Rank technique to prioritize the tasks and the Priority-based Modules Encoding (PME) technique for mapping tasks to processors. The simulation results of the proposed algorithm are compared with some standard algorithms to find out how they fare against each other in reducing the makespan. The proposed algorithm is also compared with some recently developed metaheuristic algorithms based on some real-life applications. Earth observation satellite task scheduling research plays a key role in space-based remote sensing services. An effective task scheduling strategy can maximize the utilization of satellite resources and obtain larger objective observation profits. In this paper, inspired by the success of deep reinforcement learning in optimization domains, the deep deterministic policy gradient algorithm is adopted to solve a time-continuous satellite task scheduling problem. Moreover, an improved graph-based minimum clique partition algorithm is proposed for preprocessing in the task clustering phase by considering the maximum task priority and the minimum observation slewing angle under constraint conditions. Experimental simulation results demonstrate that the deep reinforcement learning-based task scheduling method is feasible and performs much better than traditional metaheuristic optimization algorithms, especially in large-scale problems.
