Following the outbreak of the civil war in Syria, a massive migration of Syrian nationals to Türkiye has been a significant phenomenon. This situation has become a problematic issue, as the massive presence of Syrian refugees in Türkiye has become an important part of the domestic political agenda. The politicization of the refugee issue has long since presented a duality of conflicting opinions among the Turkish society, whereas it has led to political debates between pro-government and opposition groups. In light of these developments, Turkish government elites have produced discourses of religious solidarity with the aim of providing tolerance and social acceptance for Syrian refugees and thus legitimizing the open door policy of the government toward these refugees. The aim of this study is to analyze and categorize the themes that constitute the basis of the discourses of religious solidarity regarding Syrian refugees in Türkiye. In this context, a second aim is to demonstrate how these themes have been welcomed in a positive manner by their adoption and recognition by Turkish society. To these aims, governmental discourses of religious solidarity and a sample consisting of 980 posts on the digital platform X have been analyzed by using the critical discourse analysis technique and have been categorized under two discursive themes, namely the ensar–muhacir analogy and the emphases on the Ottoman legacy. The conformity between these discourses and the government's ideological orientation and the degree to which these discourses have been welcomed and adopted by the Turkish society have been discussed in detail. It can be said that a commercial incubator is used in almost all scientific studies in which electric fields are applied to cell cultures under incubator conditions. This necessitates the use of test systems and electrodes that can fit inside a commercial incubator. For this reason, when the studies in the literature are examined, it is seen that the commercial incubator dimensions used in the studies require special design of the test system and electrodes. These restrictions can also narrow the boundaries of scientific study. Such that, due to the limitation of the internal volume of the commercial incubator used in scientific studies, the voltage values that can be applied to the sample cannot exceed a certain level. In this study, a multi-purpose universal system is introduced in which high voltages up to 100 kVpp can be applied to cell cultures or food samples under temperature, humidity and CO2 controlled incubator conditions. A newly designed voltage treatment chamber for AC electric field application with high voltage transformer, voltage divider, over current limiter, and vacuum treatment chamber was utilized to treat red beetroot samples by 0.00–11.5 kV, 400–1013 mbar, and 18.15–20.00min. Applied processing parameters caused a significant increase in the total antioxidant capacity. The best-fit multiple (non-) linear regression models with response optimization revealed 4.6 kV, 400 mbar, and 30.90% moisture as the most optimal processing parameters with 0.8313 composite desirability. Application of electric fields may be utilized for the electroporation of the plant tissue without adverse effect on important properties. • A high voltage treatment chamber designed for AC electric field application was successfully constructed. • Red beetroot samples were treated by new the electric field system by 0.00–11.5 kV, 400–1013 mbar, and 18.15–20.00-min. • Significant increase was observed in total antioxidant capacity with no adverse effect on important quality properties. • A 4.6 kV, 400 mbar, and 30.90% moisture were the most optimal processing parameters with 0.8313 composite desirability. Within the Turkish nationalist movement which developed during the transition from the Ottoman Empire to the Turkish nation-state, following the foundation of the new Turkish Republic, the development of a common national culture involving all the citizens became an important issue of the political agenda in the early Republican era. Faced with the multi-ethnic social structure inherited from the Ottoman Empire which included various ethnic groups, the ruling elites of the state aimed to design a common national identity, developing with the notion of Turkishness at its core, which would be adopted by all citizens and integrate them. In Turkish political literature, the program which was developed and applied with this aim is named as Turkification policies. While these Turkification policies actually included all non-Turkic groups within the society, non-Muslim citizens had become the main targets of these policies in the early Republican era. From among the Jews, one of the three biggest non-Muslim communities in Turkey, Avram Galanti and Moiz Kohen emerged as two foremost intellectuals with their activities regarding the execution of the Turkification process. The aim of this study is to analyse the the activities of these intellectuals within the context of their functions and Turkification policies. A review of written sources has been performed with this aim. This study aimed to analyze the portrayals of drugs and drug abuse in Turkish movies within a sociological context. Considering the mutual relationship between cinema and society, the question of whether drugs and drug abuse have been represented in these movies in a problem-based manner constitutes the main problematic of this study, which aims to analyze a variety of drug-related films. Therefore, 54 Turkish movies including the element of drugs have been chosen in a purposive sampling and they have been analyzed by using sociological film analysis as a research technique. Of the 54 movies in the sampling, only 27 depicted drug abuse and only 24 of them portrayed negative outcomes of drug abuse. Findings supporting a positive correlation between the drug abuse portrayals and the periodical popularity of these substances have been achieved. Emphasizing the reasons behind drug abuse and addiction, the neglect in dysfunctional families and the influence of the social environment have been stressed in various movies, whereas the solutions, preventive measures, and social messages displayed in the movies remain at low numbers. In this paper, a novel hybrid Taguchi-vortex search algorithm (HTVS) is proposed for solving global optimization problems. Taguchi orthogonal approximation and vortex search algorithm (VS) are hybridized in presenting method. In HTVS, orthogonal arrays in the Taguchi method are trained and obtained better solutions are used to find global optima in VS. Thus, HTVS has better relation between exploration and exploitation, and it exhibits more powerful approximation to find global optimum value. Proposed HTVS algorithm is applied to sixteen well-known benchmark optimization test functions with different dimensions. The results are compared with the Taguchi orthogonal array approximation (TOAA), vortex search algorithm, grey wolf optimizer (GWO), sine cosine algorithm (SCA), moth-flame optimization algorithm (MFO), whale optimization algorithm (WOA) and salp swarm algorithm (SSA). In order to compare the effectiveness of HTVS statistically, Wilcoxon signed-rank test (WSRT) is used in this study. Furthermore, HTVS is applied to two different real engineering problems having some constraints (tension/compression spring design and pressure vessel design). The Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) problem is an essential aspect of power system planning and operational scheduling. Different techniques and algorithms have been recommended to solve it, aiming to minimize the cost of power generation with satisfying the load requirements. In this paper, a new algorithm called Electric Fish Optimization (EFO) is used to solve the ELD problem by considering the line losses, ramp rate limits, maximum and minimum capacities of the generators and prohibited operating zones (POZ). The algorithm has been utilized in test systems consisting of 6 and 15 units and its outcomes have been compared to those from previous research studies. The proposed algorithm has been shown to achieve minimum cost, indicating its superiority and effectiveness in addressing power system planning challenges.
