Transhumance activity, which has been carried on in the mountains of Türkiye for hundreds of years, has entered into a great change nowadays. NE Anatolia, the center of livestock grazing, is the region where these changes are experienced the most. This study focused on the problem of decrease in transhumance activity in Ardahan. The aim is to give the current status of transhumance and to determine the causes and consequences of the decline problem. Within the scope of the qualitative research method, interviews were conducted through semi-structured questions with people selected with stratified sampling among the plateau climbers in three districts of Ardahan. The findings were evaluated by content analysis while tables and figures were prepared. The most important finding is that grazing on pastures is experiencing a transition from agricultural management to family livestock farming. This situation is closely related to the shrinkage of pasture areas in the region, the decline of animal husbandry and ultimately rural migration. This study focuses on transhumance as shaped by pastoral farming, rural cultural, rural economic, and geographic conditions. The main issue of this study is transhumance culture, which is at risk of transforming due to global pressures and threats. In this context, the first aim of the study is to determine which subjects are involved in transhumance culture’s transformation in the world, the second is to reveal the factors that initiate this process, the third is to introduce efforts to protect transhumance, and the fourth and final is to give examples from around the world. The study has been prepared as a thematic and descriptive compilation and is supported with spatial examples in order to add a geographical dimension. Transhumance currently faces many threats, such as aging and urbanization in rural areas, failure in rural development, migration to and from mountains, climate change, and over tourism. In addition, green, circular, and digital technologies as well as economic and political decisions have an opportunistic value for transhumance. International and national institutions have made many decisions and supported transhumance in order to protect it. As a result, this study can be expected to contribute to this with some valuable implications for Turkey by looking at the transformation of transhumance and the measures taken from a global perspective. Common global problems such as climate change, migrations from mountains, the aging population, and abandonment of the shepherd profession indicate that transhumance in Turkey, which has been in great decline, should benefit from the world agenda. In this study, the district markets which have socio-economic and socio-cultural effects on the geographical location are handled in Akhisar (Manisa) district. The district markets (periodical market) in the Akhisar district, which constitutes the research area, are located in the immediate vicinity of the business districts in the district, and in particular the most convenient location in terms of accessibility. The neighborhood markets affect their settlements in socioeconomic and socio-cultural terms. It is possible to see this effect clearly in the markets in Akhisar. In this study, the effects of neighborhood markets on the district were evaluated in detail by using surveys, interviews and field observations conducted in the field as well as studies conducted to date. The surveys and interviews revealed the socio-economic structures of the population who shop in Akhisar district markets and their reasons for choosing markets. The results show that weekly markets serve mostly low-income and poor consumers. Considering the findings of the study, some suggestions were made about the neighborhood markets. Rural areas constitute one of the most important geographical locations in Turkey with the geographical features that sustainable tourism needs to be developed. This branch of tourism not only reduces the economic development process of rural areas, but also provides a healthy transfer of socio-cultural values to future generations. An important part of today's development plans are prepared on the basis of local and these plans and projects are evaluated from this perspective. Rural areas in Manisa province are one of the rare local areas where sustainable tourism can be developed. Manisa, which has a great potential in terms of rural tourism thanks to its physical and human geography elements, is vital to develop rural tourism. During the research, semi-structured interview technique which is one of the qualitative research methods was used. During the interview, 602 people were interviewed to obtain information about the rural tourism of the site. With this method, the existing rural tourism potential of the study area and the opinions and thoughts of the local people on this subject have been reached. The study, which will reveal the things to be done for the development of rural tourism in the province, will provide the basis for the other researches to be done on the tourism of Manisa. In this study, which aims to determine the views and opinions of the local people regarding the development of rural tourism in Urla district, rural tourism is evaluated in the light of data obtained from socio-economic and socio-cultural dimensions. Semi-structured interview method was used in the whole research. In the interviews with local people, it was determined that the population who are in the tourism sector one by one or who are aware of the tourism activities in the district have positive views on rural tourism but they are abstained about the development of the tourism phenomenon in their private areas. Local people believe that with the development of rural tourism, the population flow from villages to cities will decrease significantly. In various parts of the study, the information and opinions obtained from the local people are summarized. As a result of the study, both public and private enterprises and local people will be a part of tourism with the plans and projects aiming to develop rural tourism in the district and considerable employment will be ensured thanks to new business areas. The population of the settlements is constantly on the move. ın the process, the population of some settlements is increasing while some of them are decreasing. This situation reveals the human and physical geography features of that place. One of the districts that have a tendency to increase the population is Saruhanlı, which is the subject of research. Saruhanlı is a district of Manisa province which is located within the boundaries of the Aegean Region of the Aegean Region. The purpose of the study is to reveal the population values of Saruhanlı after the administrative status of the district and to explain the reasons of the population losses in the district. For this purpose, we tried to complete the study by taking advantage of the values obtained from the General Population Census with the ABPRS. Education is one of the leading factors which brings a nation into existence. Education, which makes progress or regress depending on many factors such as economic development, population, family structure, customs and traditions, has a history as old as human history. The amount of population which is among the factors effecting the education level, has an important place in the struggling life of the nations for centuries. From this point of view, various topics related with the population of our country such as distribution of the population, gender status, population of urban and rural areas and education level of the population have a vital importance. The main purpose of our study is revealing the educational status of Manisa province. In accordance with this purpose, the data obtained from Manisa Provincial Directorate for National Education and Turkish Statistical Institution have been used in our study. Besides that, the related studies conducted before has been mentioned too as the occasion arises. As a result, educational geography of the population of the province has been tried to be revealed by putting emphasis on some of the indicators which reflects the education status of Manisa province. Population movements include changes in the population depending on migrations, births and deaths. Population movements are generally caused by natural events, and the mankind can maintain its existence by these movements. However, occasionally, major changes in the population might be caused by epidemics, wars and natural disasters. When the district of Gördes is analyzed in terms of population values; it is observed that the population growth is mostly due to births, and the declines in the population are due to the migrations. The district of Gördes, which is the subject of the study, is located within the borders of the Western Inner Part of the Aegean Region. It is within the administrative borders of Manisa province, and there are 1 district center and 64 neighborhoods (56 rural neighborhoods - villages) in the administrative area of the district. The research area is the district that has the 6th largest land zone in the province of Manisa, where it is administratively affiliated. It is also one of the least populated districts of the province. According to the address based population registration system, population of Gördes district was identified as 28,833 people in 2016. The place names have major roles in identifying and promoting the geographical, historical and general character of a place. History, geography, social groups and culture play an important role on the place names. It is useful to focus on village and town names because they are important sources in terms of providing information about historical development of the settlements and geographical environment in old times. Studies about place names are significant in terms of demonstrating historical, sociocultural and socio-economic structure and geography of a settlement. In the study area (Salihli District), many villages are named after families and their origins such as Turkish tribes, communities and clans. Such names are very important to determine the population movements in Salihli and lighting the recent history of settlement policies in the district. Naming villages by the influence of physical and geographic characteristics of the place shows the interaction between people and these places. Manisa province, which is located within the boundaries of the Original Aegean Region, is surrounded by İzmir in the west, Balıkesir in the north, Aydın in the south, Kütahya and Uşak in the east. The study areas is bordered by Demirci Mountains in the north and northeast, Kula-Gördes-Uşak plateaus in the east, Bozdaglar in the south and Spil Mountain, Yaman Mountains, Menemen Strait and Yunt Mountain in the west. The climate of Manisa is combination of the Central Anatolian continental climate with Mediterranean climate. Mediterranean climate is seen in the plains and valleys, whereas Central Anatolian continental climate is dominant in plateaus and mountainous areas. Since the mountains surrounding Manisa are not high enough to prevent the maritime influence, the warm weather coming from Aegean Sea is felt in the air from west to east with a reducing influence. However, the city of Manisa remains under the influence of Manisa Mountain. The barren side of the mountain facing the city has a freezer effect in winter and cooling effect in summer. According to the systematics of administrative division of Turkey, cities constitute the largest civil administrative departments of the country. Manisa is the 17th largest city with a total of 13.096 km2 surface area among 81 cities and 14th in terms of population, respectively.
