Words in prison suffer from context perhaps more than in other situations. Particularly in the encounter between inmates and social workers, words are burdened with expectations and tensions given by the compression of space, the mortification of the body and the dilation of time, often referred to as "suspended" time, which never passes. They are usually rarefied words, due to the difficulty of linguistic comprehension (many inmates are foreigners), the impossibility of preparing and curating meetings with adequate time and space, and the absence of privacy with which to accommodate the most painful words. This rarefaction sometimes produces closure, superficiality, sometimes brings out the essential, creates spaces for the authentic. Even when so-called "treatment activities," with (re)educational value, leverage words - such as autobiographical storytelling workshops - there is then a lack of opportunities for verification, especially in the long term, that is, there is a lack of opportunities to detect how the relationship with self and others changes, how the ability to shape experience changes.This is another reason that depotentiates words in prison. And yet it is only from the thought become word that a new consideration of self begins, in that space where positive versions of one's identity can emerge alongside those that imprisonment cements and stigmatizes. The contribution aims to present qualitative research carried out with social workers (competent volunteers) in the S. Vittore prison, from which a reflection on the value of words in such a conditioned context, where education seems to be hostage to constraints and limits, rather than animated by workers committed to reeducational paths, has emerged. This article, based on bibliographical reviews, aims to analyze the development of a possible death policy adopted by the State in the face of the prison population and its most varied actors in the pandemic scenario. Therefore, we seek to understand the Brazilian prison structure and the development of a technique for exercising power called by Achille Mbembe as necropolitics. Since then, we seek to collect data on the impact of COVID-19 in prison in order to ascertain the real situation of the prison population in times of pandemic and the need to find emergency solutions to protect the lives of the great masses prison that is sensitively vulnerable to contagion by this new disease. In this way, after verifying the reality supported by the prison system with the advance of COVID-19 in prison, the article seeks to analyze the urgency of a humanitarian penal legal system, which will reform the relationship between the human person and prison. In this text, we aim to discursively analyze the narratives of Angela, the fictitious name of a female prisoner in Goiás, residing in a city in the interior of the state of Goiás. We rely on Critical Applied Linguistics, studies on gender intersectionalities and assumptions Foucaultians about knowledge, power and body. We problematize prison through the voice of a subject who experienced and experiences social difficulties on a daily basis. As a result, we point out that prison is represented, from the perspective of an ex-convict, as a locus full of stigmas and social prejudices, making socially-historically erased subjects increasingly invisible. This article presents the reflections on education in prisons based on field research developed within the scope of the São Cristóvão do Sul prison unit, using as materiality interviews with teachers, participant observation, documentary research, photographic records and writings in a field diary. The article emphasizes the reflection on the theme of education in prisons, stressing the need for public policies that materialize and contemplate education as a human right, involving the inmate as the protagonist and allowing him to rescue values, knowledge and learning that aim to add to the re(construction) of their social return. In 1851, William Gladstone turned the suffering of Neapolitan political prisoners into a cause célèbre. His Two Letters to the Earl of Aberdeen on the State Prosecutions of the Neapolitan Government galvanized European and American public opinion, and set in motion a process of diplomatic negotiation that culminated in the removal of sixty-six men from prison in January 1859. Subject to deportation, the men took control of the ship taking them to the U.S.A. and directed it to Great Britain, where they enjoyed a hero's welcome. During the eight years that separated the publication of Gladstone's protest from the prisoners' escape, leading British politicians, diplomats, and journalists worked to keep the plight of the Neapolitan prisoners in the public eye; however, the prisoners themselves, with the help of close friends and family, made an essential contribution to this effort. This article analyzes the experience of one of the author's acquaintances, who served almost a month in jail and compares the mechanisms within a current Italian prison with those described in the classics of ethnography and sociology of prisons and in particular in Goffman's writings, finding intriguing and disturbing similarities in the mechanisms of a typical closed institution. This article aims to analyze the role of prison sentences and his real execution in the Brazilian jail. The methodology used in this study is based on qualitative analysis, reason why the hypothetical-deductive and dialectical method of historical-logical analysis, by means of primary documentary sources and the review of Brazilian literature. In this way, the authors demonstrate how the absence of the law can generate a cruel system that potentiates the punishment of the imprisoned citizens, since it seems that the jail does not present itself at present as a social instrument more adequate to the recovery of the self-consciousness of the transgressor. Detention is a highly traumatizing experience for both the incarcerated person and the family due to the break of the romantic and affective relationships. Detention itself influences either mothers' or fathers' experiences as caregivers and represents a risk for the psychological, physical and social well-being of the children. Thus, the parent-child relationship following the incarceration represents a relevant theme that raises clinical, social, and ethical issues. Electronic databases were systematically searched for studies published in the last twenty years on this topic. In this systematic review of the literature, the results of 27 articles on the issue of parent-child relationship in a prison context published between 1998 and 2018 were analyzed. The topics considered by literature could be summarized in three thematic issues: (i) children and types of risk following the incarceration of one or both parents; (ii) parents and how the prison experience affects the perception of one's parental role; (iii) the characteristics of parent-child relationship and how the detention experience can harm the quality of the parent-child relationship. Communication and education are aligned to the gender perspective to expand its epistemological challenge, its social fields of implication and its political scope of transformation. The article presents a production project as a reference point in the not-for-profit world because it reconciles both ethics and aesthetics. It is a second chance model: a second opportunity for the women inmates who, besides learning a trade, construct a way to draw near the real world, using material and objects that have been recovered from Italian and European businesses. Starting from the assumption that the setting is absolutely influenced and structured by the representations that the institution has of clinical work and from those that the clinician has of the institution where he operates, with this paper we intend to reflect on the defensive dynamics, splitting above all, that cross and characterize a detention centre. Such in a place will be essential to maintain an abstinent and neutral position and a psychoanalytically oriented thought that does not colluded with these dynamics. Difficulties are many, from the structuring of the setting, where everything is created from scratch, including the request: Customer and user do not coincide; part of the Clinician work consist in understanding if and how, the User Can become a Patient. When this happens, a valuable space for self-understanding is created and they can try to understand how they have come to commit crimes which sometimes are of great seriousness. The "restructuring" of the personality becomes a fundamental element of the treatment, where the entry in prison produces or induces a process of de-structuring. A brief Clinical History will be expose, to illustrate the role of trauma and victimization and the necessary work on the "first victim" in order to avoid further victimization. The Holloway skills therapy programme (HoST) at Her Majesty's Prison and Young Offenders' Institution Holloway is provided to women who, because of problematic behaviour associated with borderline personality disorder, are often excluded from treatment in prison and in the community. HoST addresses issues of offending behaviour, self-harm, suicidality and indiscipline, through a modified evidence-based treatment modality, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), which is a form of cognitive behav-iour psychotherapy. This paper will outline the possibility of a modified DBT approach to working with female offenders in the prison setting. A pilot evaluation of female prisoners who received the treatment is also presented through a range of quantitative measures. In turn, positive outcomes with regard to reduction in time spent on the assessment and care in custody teamwork process, reduction in adjudications and improved overall mental health are presented. This paper examines risk of suicidal and self-harm behaviours among new inmates at Ferrara Prison. Having reviewed studies carried out in different countries regarding the distinguished characteristics of suicide and self-harm prone personalities, we encountered 179 subjects conforming to the profiles. However, further and closer examination revealed that only one such inmate actually ever attempted suicide and one other engaged in self-harming behaviour. It therefore emerges that the number of individuals prone to risk behaviour does not necessarily match the number of those who eventually succumb to their tendencies.
