Omphalocele is a congenital malformation whose treatment is medico-surgical. It is often associated with other malformations that may be lifethreatening. The purpose of the study was to determine the epidemiological, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects of omphaloceles at Libreville university teaching hospital. our study was a singlecenter descriptive transversal study from January 1st, 2015 to December 31st, 2018, that is 4 years. Were included in the study, newborns with omphalocele hospitalized in the neonatology department of the University Hospital of Libreville. The parameters studied were epidemiological, prenatal history, diagnostic and therapeutic. We enrolled 16 newborns. The mean time to admission was 1.3 days ranging from 0-13 days. Mean gestational age was 38 weeks of amenorrhea. The sex ratio was 0.7 with a female predominance (9/7). The average birth weight was 2847 g (1960g - 4100g). No mothers had a history of teratogenic drug use and 10 were multiparous. An antenatal diagnosis was made in 3 cases. The omphalocele was type II in 11 patients. The liver was present in the bag in 8 patients. Six patients had associated malformations. Non operative methods aimed at progressive epithelisation were performed in 8 patients. Surgical treatment was performed in 8 patients, 7 of whom underwent primary closure. The postoperative course was simple in 2/8 patients. We recorded 6 deaths. Improving of the prognosis of omphalocele requires more antenatal diagnosis and a neonatal intensive care unit. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
