The article presents a critical assessment of anthropology and industry to review and assess the major writings of industrial anthropologists over a span of 50 years. Furthermore, it describes the early research strategies and objectives of pioneer industrial psychologists and sociologists who drew upon the theoretical frameworks, models, and data-collecting techniques of anthropology to analyze the social organization of the factory and social change in complex industrial contexts. It also presents the historical development of industrial anthropology, the dynamics of industrialism and the use of the case study approach for industry research.
