This paper presents a new structure for switched-capacitor multilevel inverter with octuple voltage gain capability. The proposed inverter utilizes three capacitors, 13 semiconductor switches, three diodes, and an input voltage source to achieve a 17-level output voltage. The switched capacitors naturally achieve voltage balancing without the need for sensors or additional circuits, indicating the ease of control of the proposed structure. To control the inrush current of the switched capacitors, a charge limiting inductor has been utilized in the charging path of the capacitors. This not only reduces the inrush current of the capacitors and the input source current but also enables faster capacitor charging and extends their lifetime. The switches used in the proposed structure can withstand a maximum of 4 times the input voltage value or the half of the maximum output voltage, which is a significant advantage for the proposed structure. A detailed comparison with similar structures is provided to examine the advantages and disadvantages of the suggested inverter. The procedure of self-voltage balancing of the capacitors and the functional modes of the proposed topology has been explained in detail. The proposed structure is suitable for applications such as renewable energy sources transfer to load or grid. The performance of the proposed topology under different conditions is confirmed through simulation in the Matlab\Simulink software and the implementation of the laboratory sample. In this paper, an interleaved DC–DC step-up converter with improved characteristics based on a voltage multiplier rectifier is presented. The proposed converter is presented and analyzed for two different operating duty regions including operating region 1 (0 < D ≤ 0.5), and operating region 2 (0.5 ≤ D < 1). This converter can be used in various applications such as energy storage, electric vehicles, and renewable energy systems. This converter is composed of two stages: an interleaved boost stage and a voltage multiplier rectifier stage, which collectively forms its general structure. The interleaved boost stage is a type of two-phase boost converter that transforms the input DC voltage into a high-frequency AC square waveform. This waveform can be readily filtered using smaller capacitors. The square-shaped voltage waveform from the interleaved boost stage is rectified and converted to a high DC voltage by the Voltage Multiplier Rectifier (VMR) stage. The operating regions, the evaluation of the steady-state condition, the voltage gain of the proposed converter's parasitic and ideal models as well as its losses and efficiency analysis have been evaluated. The proposed converter has an efficiency of 97% at the output power of 150 W. The proposed converter is simulated to convert a voltage of 25–159.5 V and to validate the mathematical relationships and simulation results, a laboratory prototype has been developed. In this paper, a quadruple boost switched-capacitor multi-level inverter is proposed. The proposed structure utilizes a DC source, 11 switches, and a diode to achieve 17-level output voltage levels. This structure consists of three capacitors with the ability for self-balancing voltages. The capacitors achieve automatic voltage balancing through a series/parallel connection with the input voltage source. To control the switching pulses of the switches, level-shifted pulse width modulation (LS-PWM) strategy has been employed. A comparative evaluation has been performed between the proposed structure and structures presented in recent articles, considering various parameters such as voltage gain, number of DC sources, number of semiconductor devices, maximum blocking voltage (MBV), and total standing voltage (TSV). Considering this comparison, the lower number of semiconductor devices for generating a 17-level output with suitable voltage gain, and especially the cost-effectiveness of the structure, are the main advantages of the proposed configuration. In addition, a soft charging method has been employed to limit the inrush current of capacitors. Moreover, the power losses of the proposed structure have been investigated, indicating its acceptable efficiency. Finally, for the analysis and validation of the proposed structure's performance, an experimental prototype has been implemented and evaluated under various conditions. Today, multilevel inverters are widely utilized in various applications. Reducing the number of components in the design of these converters is one of the crucial goals so that they have less volume and cost. This paper presents a single‐source structure for a multilevel switched‐capacitor inverter with voltage boost capability. The proposed structure can generate 25 sinusoidal‐like step voltage levels with a six times amplitude increase compared to the input. This converter uses only one direct current (DC) power source, 14 switches, and four capacitors. The nearest level control switching method has been used to control the converter, create voltage levels, and select the switching modes. A comprehensive comparison has been made with other recently presented structures to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed structure. The advantages of the proposed structure include using only one DC voltage source, the ability to increase the output voltage six times compared to the input, the use of fewer power electronics components compared to the number of voltage levels, proper efficiency, self‐balancing of capacitors, and as a result, the lower cost. Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) have been noticed by researchers due to their high efficiency, low pollution, and high‐power density in distributed generation systems. In this paper, an LCL‐type grid‐tied PEMFC fuel cell power conditioning system is evaluated in a harmonics‐polluted low‐voltage grid. The LCL‐filters can lead to resonance and instability despite their capability to attenuate harmonics. In this research, a transformer has been used to connect the fuel cell inverter to the grid. The grid‐side inductor of LCL‐filter is realized by the leakage inductance of the transformer. In addition, for more effective resonance damping and attenuation of current ripples caused by the grid voltage harmonics, a capacitor voltage comprehensive feedback control has been designed and investigated. The comprehensive feedback control of the capacitor voltage contains proportional, first and second‐order derivative terms. In the proposed control scheme, the capacitor‐current‐feedback is opposed by the capacitor voltage derivative term due to reverse loop gain, which leads to deleting both of these loop gains. As a result, there is no need to utilize a current sensor in this control method. Consequently, the proportional and second‐order derivative terms of the capacitor voltage attenuate the LCL‐filter resonance. A low‐pass filter is also considered in the second‐order derivative loop in the controllable frequency range to ensure system stability. The simulation results of the PEMFC power conditioning system in different conditions confirm the proper attenuation of LCL resonance of grid‐tied inverter, high‐quality current injection to the harmonics polluted grid, the suitable stability, and the appropriate dynamic response for the proposed system. Under the proposed control scheme, the fuel cell power conditioning system demonstrates satisfactory stability. Even when reducing the LCL filter values by 5%–20%, the system maintains its stability effectively. Moreover, the THD of the injected current into the grid, employing the proposed control strategy, has been successfully reduced to an impressive value of 1.97% in a weak and harmonical grid. This paper introduces a new structure of a multi-level inverter (MLI) to generate high-level AC voltages using a low number of switches with a quasi-sine waveform. The small number of driver circuits utilised in bidirectional switches is a salient characteristic of this inverter. Also, the number of conducting switches at each voltage level is low in this structure. This results in lower conduction losses of the switches. The proposed topology can be used as the cascaded structure with different approaches to select the value of voltage sources. Power losses are discussed for the proposed structure. To compare the proposed multi-level inverter and demonstrate its superiority, a comparison has been made with some recently presented topologies. According to the comparison results, the advantage of the proposed structure is producing high voltage levels with a smaller number of switches and driver circuits. To prove the suitable performance of the proposed MLI, a 21-level symmetric and 37-level asymmetric inverter containing 14 switches are designed and simulated in the MATLAB/Simulink program. A laboratory prototype for each of these inverters is implemented. The experimental results finely verify the simulations. This article proposes an enhanced non-isolated high-gain DC-DC converter for interfacing renewable energy sources (RESs). This converter utilizes active switched-inductor (ASL) and switched-capacitor (SC) networks in which the ASL network increases the voltage gain. Furthermore, using the SC network as a multiplier cell helps to reach a high voltage conversion ratio with a proper duty cycle. The main advantages of the proposed converter are the high voltage gain, continuous input current, and low voltage stress on the semiconductor switch and the passive component. Since the voltage stress of the semiconductor element is low, a low ON-state resistance switch is used, which leads to reduced conduction losses. Comprehensive analysis of the steady-state operation in continuous conduction mode (CCM), inductor and capacitor design, and a comparison considering other similar topologies are presented in this article. Also, the parasitic elements are assumed to calculate the DC-Voltage gain and the efficiency of the converter. Summary: Multilevel inverters have many applications, such as the grid integration of photovoltaic cells, FACTSs devices, electric vehicles, variable speed drives, and smart grids. In this paper, a new bidirectional diode‐based unit is proposed for a symmetric single‐phase modular inverter topology that can achieve high output levels by using a small number of switching and circuit devices. The basic structure can generate nine‐level voltage with only nine IGBTs and two diodes. Another advantage of the proposed topology is the utilization of a half‐bridge module to change the voltage polarity and the low number of its voltage sources. Additionally, the proposed topology can be used as the cascaded structure with different approaches to select the value of voltage sources. The power losses are discussed for the proposed basic module. A comparison has been made with some recently presented topologies to compare the proposed multilevel inverter and demonstrate its superiority. The comparison is performed for the basic module and its generalized structure. In this paper, the pulse width modulation technique is utilized to achieve a voltage waveform with low harmonic content. The proposed basic structure has an efficiency of 58.98% in 5KW power. Solar energy as a limitless, clean, and cost-effective energy source could be converted to electrical power by photovoltaic cells. In this paper, a photovoltaic power conditioner, which is connected to the low voltage grid via an LCL filter, is presented. This power conditioning system supplies high-quality current and has high stability against disturbances. Since the generated PV voltage is lower than the grid voltage, a DC-DC converter is utilized. Also, DC voltage is also converted to AC by an LCL-type inverter. To ensure the resonance elimination yielded from the LCL filter, inverter and grid side currents, a double feedback strategy is employed. By considering resonance damping, stability margin, and the grid-connected requirements, a systematic design procedure for the suggested strategy is investigated to ensure the system stability in the low-voltage network. In comparison with the conventional strategies, the suggested strategy gives suitable resonance damping capability, higher marginal stability, and better grid-connected properties. Simulation results of the PV power conditioning system illustrate the accurate performance of the control system, suitable tracking of the PV array maximum power point, and high-quality current injection into the grid. In this paper, a new transformerless buck–boost converter is proposed. This converter is based on combining two basic converters, including Cuk and traditional buck–boost converters, along with a voltage multiplier (VM) at the output side. The proposed semi‐quadratic buck–boost converter operates in continuous conduction mode (CCM) and provides two operation modes by turning the switches on and off. This converter has some merits such as a wide conversion ratio and continuous input current. The proposed converter consists of two switches with simultaneous operation resulting in simplicity in control. A modular configuration and a wide range of duty cycles are available through the proposed converter, which causes higher or lower output voltage and facilitates the converter maintenance. The calculations of the ideal and the real voltage gain, voltage stress of switches and diodes, efficiency, and design consideration of elements are given in this paper. Finally, a prototype is implemented, and experimental waveforms are obtained to prove and validate the simulation results as well as the theoretical analysis of the proposed converter. The 2/3-level hybrid inverters are a combination of three-level Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) inverter and conventional two-level inverter, which has the advantage of both two-level and three-level structures with fewer switches than the NPC inverter. In this paper, a new structure of 2/3 hybrid inverter based on dual-Z-‏source network is proposed. The proposed structure improves the performance of the 2/3-level inverter and increases its independent DC input voltages. The output voltage gain can be obtained by selecting the shoot-through interval appropriately in dual Z-source networks. In addition, shoot-through intervals in Z-source networks allow the inverter to run without dead time, thus increasing the output voltage quality. A modified switching method is presented for the proposed inverter, and the necessary calculations are performed. The proposed structure can be used to connect different distributed generation sources to the load separately from the grid or to the low-pressure network. Proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC), due to its high efficiency and good stability, is one of the most efficient and effective sources of alternative renewable energy. The LCL filters are utilized to attenuate the harmonics caused by inverter‐based distributed power generation systems (DPGS). In this paper, a systematic robust control design is presented for an LCL‐type grid‐tied PEMFC inverter. The proposed nested control includes the capacitor current feedback and the outer grid current loops, considering the computational delays. The proposed control results in more accurate and realistic modeling to transfer the power of PEMFC and inject a high‐quality current into a weak and harmonics‐polluted network. Also, by utilizing the proposed method, the computational delays that affect the damping capability are eliminated, and the performance of the control system is improved. In addition, designing a virtual series and parallel impedances strengthens the phase and amplitude of the inverter output impedance. As a result, the robust operation of the inverter for significant changes in network impedance is improved, and the system well attenuates the mains voltage harmonics. The simulation results in Matlab/Simulink environment confirm the performance of the control system and the suitable quality of the injected current of the PEMFC system into the weak and harmonic‐polluted network. To meet the higher DC link voltage requirement in distributed energy resources (DERs) such as fuel cells (FCs), wind turbines (WTs), and photovoltaic (PV) systems, DC–DC converters are applied. A voltage‐lift (VL) circuit‐based transformer‐less active switched LC‐network (ASLC) converter with a high‐voltage gain is proposed in this paper. Compared to a similar reference converter, the voltage gain of the proposed converter increases efficiently by adding one extra capacitor and diode. The operation of the converter in continuous current mode (CCM) and discontinuous current mode (DCM), the analysis of the steady‐state condition, and comparative analysis with some similar converters are discussed. Moreover, the parasitic elements are assumed to calculate the DC‐voltage gain and the efficiency of the converter accurately. The performance of the proposed step‐up converter is simulated in the PSIM software. A prototype circuit rating of about 20/280 V, 200 W of converter model is designed, and its performance is validated. The experimental outcomes clarify the feasibility of the proposed converter. Multi‐level inverters (MLIs) for medium or high power and voltage utilization have acceptable application in industry and are utilized commercially. The performance of MLIs is considerably preferable to traditional two‐level inverters due to their negligible harmonic content, small filter size, utilization of lower‐rated voltage devices, low electromagnetic interference (EMI), and so on. However, in the face of these many advantages, few disadvantages can be expressed such as more device count and a sophisticated control strategy. This paper presents an improved switched‐ladder topology to enhance the performance of multi‐level inverters by improving the above drawbacks. Compared to existing inverter topologies, the proposed extendable diode‐containing bidirectional structure requires fewer switches and driver circuits. The proposed topology is compared with other similar topologies, and its superiority is examined. Fundamental switching frequency modulation technique is utilized to obtain high‐quality output voltage waveforms with lower harmonic contents and reduced switching losses. This converter, despite the use of diodes, can supply the low power factor inductive‐resistive loads, bidirectionally. To demonstrate the performance of the proposed topology, in addition to simulation with the nearest level modulation technique, a prototype of the proposed structure has been implemented and tested. Multilevel inverters are a new generation of DC–AC converters at medium and high voltage and power levels. In this paper, a new single-phase cascaded multilevel inverter is presented. For this purpose, a new basic cell is presented at first. Then, the new multilevel inverter structure is yielded by series connection of these cells. The proposed new cell is only capable of generating positive voltage levels, and therefore, to produce zero and negative voltage levels, the proposed structure is constructed based on H-bridge module. In order to reduce the maximum blocking voltage especially on H-bridge switches, the cascaded connection of the proposed converter is investigated. A comprehensive comparison is carried out between the proposed multilevel inverter with the classical and recently introduced structures in terms of the number of switching devices, the number of drivers, the total blocking voltage of the switches as well as the loss and efficiency. The accuracy of the proposed inverter's performance is simulated in MATLAB/Simulink in symmetric and asymmetric topologies for a 17-level and 23-level output voltage respectively, and then evaluated by the laboratory prototype. Summary: In this paper, a bidirectional diode containing multilevel inverter is introduced to reduce the number of switching elements especially in the case of a high number of output voltage levels. In comparison with classic and recently introduced symmetrical topologies, which are trying to reduce the switch count, this topology has a lower number of semiconductor switches in the same number of output voltage levels. This makes the proposed inverter to be a suitable choice for medium voltage applications like renewable energy applications as well as medium voltage electric drives. Moreover, it can be used in a cascaded configuration for high voltage levels. To depict the performance of the proposed structure, a comprehensive comparison is made between this topology and classic and recently proposed symmetric topologies in terms of switch and gate driver count, power losses, and cost. In this paper, a novel Cascaded H-Bridge (CHB)-based multilevel inverter for symmetric/asymmetric configurations is presented. The proposed MLI can be utilized in medium-voltage applications such as electrical machine drives as well as grid connection of renewable energy resources. The proposed structure uses fewer count of semiconductor devices at the same voltage level in comparison with classic and advanced structures. Cascaded connection of the proposed basic cells leads to reduce complexity and increase efficiency of the proposed structure. In order to investigate the capability and superiority of the proposed structure, a comprehensive comparison is conducted between this structure and the advanced ones in terms of efficiency, switch and gate driver count, and total blocking voltage (TBV). The fundamental frequency switching method is employed to generate proper switching pulses. The performance of the proposed multilevel inverter is investigated by simulating in MATLAB/Simulink environment. Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) systems are environment-friendly systems that can be used as distributed power generation (DPG) system. As DPG units are usually utilized in weak power distribution systems, the grid inductance variations should be investigated during the control design stage of the grid-tied fuel cell systems. In recent years, LCL filter is broadly utilized to grid connection of DPG units, and the proper design of this filter is an important issue. In this paper, converter side current feedback (CSCF) method has been applied due to its innate damping feature to integrate PEMFC fuel cell system through LCL filter into weak power distribution system. The impact of delay should be considered as it limits the stability region of the resonance frequency of the CSCF control method especially, in the presence of wide variations of the grid inductance. Precise-tuned LCL filter design and consequently, the proper choice of the resonance frequency can remarkably affect the performance of the CSCF control. An adequate-tuned design procedure for LCL filter parameters has been proposed in this paper. Step-by-step tuning of the PR controller parameters has also been included to enhance the power quality. The grid-tied fuel cell system with modified-Y-Source inverter and LCL filter as an interface between inverter and grid has been simulated to analyze the quality of the injected power. Speed control of conventional low-voltage low-power induction motors (LV-LP-IMs) by two-level voltage source inverter (2LVSI) has some difficulties due to limitations of LV-LP-IMs especially insulation system. Besides, the use of multilevel inverters is not cost-effective either. In this paper, the new topology of reduced-switch-count three-level inverter with only eight switches is proposed for speed controlling of LV-LP IM. Eight-switch inverter is a newly three-level converter, which has the fewer number of switching devices, lower cost, smaller volume compared with the conventional three-level inverters, while it has sufficient switching vectors to speed control of IMs. In this paper, the structure and switching vectors of the eight-switch inverter are analyzed, and the direct torque control method based on the switching table and voltage balancing of the DC input voltage are presented for the LV-LP-IM speed control. Simulation results, considering different work conditions, are presented in order to validate finally the good performance of the proposed method. In this paper, the parallel operation of a three‐phase three‐wire inverter and a three‐phase four‐wire inverter in the presence of unbalanced and nonlinear loads is investigated. The proposed control method has two current internal and voltage external control loops. The current internal loop has a proportional‐resonant controller. The voltage external loop has two parts, including voltage controller and load current sharing. In the current sharing part, first, the output of the voltage controller is broken to a harmonic and is shared then between the inverters through the new strategy: (i) supply of harmonic components of load current by four‐leg inverter and sharing fundamental component of load current evenly between the inverters and (ii) supply of zero‐sequence load current by four‐leg inverter and sharing of the rest of components evenly between two inverters. The proposed system is capable of feeding balanced, unbalanced and nonlinear loads and provides the proper sinusoidal voltage at both ends of the loads by exact sharing of power between parallel inverters. Utilization of small-scale wind energy conversion systems (WECS) has been grown in recent years. Permanent magnet synchronous generator due to lack of slip rings is a suitable alternative for induction generators to be used in these systems. However, these generators use full power converters which means higher power losses. In this paper, an ultra-efficient three-level converter, called T-type converter, is used in a back-to-back configuration as power electronic interface for PMSG-based small-scale WECS. Then, simulations are carried out to evaluate the efficiency of the system and compare it to conventional two- and three-level back-to-back configurations. Meanwhile, thermal analysis is carried out to investigate the thermal loading of different switching components of the converter. Data given by this analysis can be further used to evaluate system reliability. Therefore, system reliability is calculated and compared to conventional two- and three-level converter systems. Multilevel inverters (MLIs) have made great strides in utilizing renewable energy and industrial applications compared to conventional two‐level inverters in terms of output voltage quality, smaller size of the output filter, and higher efficiency. This paper describes a new diode containing bidirectional topology for single‐phase MLI. This structure is presented to reduce the count of switches, isolated voltage sources, and drivers that can increase the number of output levels modularly. This converter, despite the use of diodes, can feed bidirectionally the low power factor inductive–resistive loads. The proposed structure has been designed to achieve a higher output voltage levels relative to the number of switches, drivers, and direct current (DC) voltage sources. Three different algorithms have been proposed to determine the values of DC voltage sources. To confirm the superiority of the proposed structure, a detailed comparison has been carried out with other MLI topologies. Summary Multilevel inverters are known as essential converters in renewable sources. First, in this paper, a new submodule is presented, and based on it, a new sub‐multilevel inverter is presented. The proposed sub‐multilevel inverter consists of several unidirectional and bidirectional switches and DC voltage sources. Then, the generalized topology, developed in two modular and cascaded modes, is presented to increase production levels. The proposed submodules are connected in series in the modular topology, increasing production levels. The proposed topology to produce the maximum output levels has the minimum number of IGBTs, drivers, DC voltage sources, etc. Mathematical analyses for conduction and switching losses are provided, and mathematical analyses for the number of devices and voltage across the switches are also presented. In addition to the mathematical analysis of losses, the simulation results are also presented. A general comparison of proposed topology components is presented to demonstrate their advantages. This comparison shows that the proposed topology has the minimum number of power electronic devices. In this paper, nearest level modulation is used to control the proposed topology. In this paper, a new topology is introduced for capacitor-based multi-level inverters. The proposed topology is based on combination of two Cross-Square-Switched T-Type inverters. This structure can be generalized in two modular and cascaded modes. In the cascaded mode, higher voltage levels are produced with low power switches. The main features of the proposed topology include the level generation without the utilization of the H-bridge module, the low number of switching components, a lower number of DC voltage sources, and low total blocking voltage. Besides, in the proposed topology, the number of conducting switches in the current path for each different voltage level is low, which leads to a conduction loss decrement. The loss simulations are performed, and the results are presented. A study provides a detailed comparison of the proposed topology in terms of various parameters. In this paper, the nearest level modulation switching, which is low-frequency switching, is utilized to generate voltage levels. To confirm the performance of the proposed topology, a simulation was performed with MATLAB/Simulink software, and a laboratory sample was implemented. Comparative results, simulation results, and implementation results indicate the appropriate performance of the proposed structure in different steady-state and dynamic conditions. Aleuroclava jasmini (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) is a major insect pest of paper mulberry (Broussonetia papyrifera) in Iran, negatively affecting its production. Considering the importance of oils in the integrated management programs of such pests, the present study examined the possibility of whitefly control on paper mulberry plant to assess mortality rate (MR), synergistic rate (SR), resistance rate (RR), and lethal concentration for 50% of the population (LC50) of oils and common insecticide in populations from four areas of Tehran, Iran (one susceptible and three non-susceptible). The best chemical treatments against A. jasmini adults and nymphs in paper mulberry plants were neem oil (1 ml L−1) mixed with deltamethrin (0.5 ml L−1) or with buprofezin (1 ml L−1). The neem, akylarylpolyglyglycol ether and volk oils mixed with deltamethrin or buprofezin also had synergistic effects on adults and nymphs of A. jasmini, respectively, in Azadi, Shahrake Gharb, and Vanak areas (non-susceptible populations), but with higher concentrations (> LC50) and lower SR than in Garm Dareh area (susceptible population). We observed that A. jasmini adults showed the greatest resistance to deltamethrin in Vanak area and nymphs of this pest to buprofezin in Shahrake Gharb area. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
