The current three-wave longitudinal study investigated whether peer victimization would activate adolescents' rumination and rejection sensitivity, and therefore exacerbate subsequent loneliness. Surveys were administered to adolescents across three measurements, one year apart. Eight hundred and fifty-seven Chinese adolescents (56.62% males; Mage = 14.73, SD = 0.43) completed self-reported and peer-nominated measures of victimization, rumination, rejection sensitivity and loneliness. Results revealed that self-reported, but not peer-nominated victimization at baseline directly predicted adolescent loneliness one year later. Moreover, both rumination and rejection sensitivity exerted mediating effects on the relationship between self-reported victimization and loneliness. Additionally, this parallel mediation model was robust across gender. These findings suggest that self-perceived peer victimization would increase Chinese adolescents' loneliness since they employ rumination and rejection sensitivity to cope with peer victimization. The European Space Agency (ESA) developed the Sentinel-2 Multispectral Imager (MSI), which offers a higher spatial resolution and shorter repeat coverage, making it an important source for the remote-sensing monitoring of water bodies. Atmospheric correction is crucial for the monitoring of water quality. To compare the applicability of seven publicly available atmospheric correction processors (ACOLITE, C2RCC, C2XC, iCOR, POLYMER, SeaDAS, and Sen2Cor), we chose complex and diverse lakes in Qinghai Province, China, as the research area. The lakes were divided into three types based on the waveform characteristics of Rrs: turbid water bodies (class I lakes) represented by the Dabusun Lake (DBX), clean water bodies (class II lakes) represented by the Qinghai Lake (QHH), and relatively clean water bodies (class III lakes) represented by the Longyangxia Reservoir (LYX). Compared with the in situ Rrs, it was found that for the DBX, the Sen2Cor processor performed best. The POLYMER processor exhibited a good performance in the QHH. The C2XC processor performed well with the LYX. Using the Sen2Cor, POLYMER, and C2XC processors for classes I, II, and III, respectively, compared with the Sentinel-3 OLCI Level-2 Water Full Resolution (L2-WFR) products, it was found that the estimated Rrs from the POLYMER had the highest consistency. In recent years, using deep learning for large area building change detection has proven to be very efficient. However, the current methods for pixel-wise building change detection still have some limitations, such as a lack of robustness to false-positive changes and confusion about the boundary of dense buildings. To address these problems, a novel deep learning method called multiscale attention and edge-aware Siamese network (MAEANet) is proposed. The principal idea is to integrate both multiscale discriminative and edge structure information to improve the quality of prediction results. To effectively extract multiscale discriminative features, we design a contour channel attention module (CCAM) that highlights the edge of the changed region and combine it with the classical convolutional block attention module (CBAM) to construct multiscale attention (MA) module, which mainly contains channel, spatial and contour attention mechanisms. Meanwhile, to consider the structure information of buildings, we introduce the edge-aware (EA) module, which combines discriminative features with edge structure features to alleviate edge confusion in dense buildings. We conducted the experiments using LEVIR-CD and BCDD datasets. The proposed MA and EA modules can improve the F1-Score of the basic architecture by 1.13% on the LEVIR CD and by 1.39% on the BCDD with an accepted computation overhead. It is crucial to develop high-performance electrode materials for the increasing energy demands of various energy storage systems. Biomass-derived carbons demonstrate great potential due to their rich structure, low cost, abundance in reserves, and excellent electrochemical performance. So far, various carbon structures ranging from highly disordered non-graphitic carbon to locally ordered graphite-like carbon have been achieved from different biomass. And they are employed as electrodes for different energy storage systems. However, to our best knowledge, there is no systematic review to show the latest progress in this area. Herein, we have systematically classified the waste biomass and discussed the microstructures of their derived carbons. In particular, as electrode materials, the effects of biomass-derived carbons’ structure, porosity, interlayer spacing, and heteroatomic doping on different energy storage devices are analyzed in detail. Information on vegetation water content (VWC) is important in retrieving soil moisture using microwave remote sensing. It can be also used for other applications, including drought detection, bushfire prediction, and agricultural productivity assessment. Through the Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) mission of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, radar data may potentially provide the VWC information needed for soil moisture retrieval from the radiometer data acquired by the same satellite. In this paper, VWC estimation is tested using radar vegetation index (RVI) data from the third SMAP airborne Experiment. Comparing with coincident ground measurements, prediction equations for wheat and pasture were developed. While a good relationship was found for wheat, with r=0.49, 0.62,\ \mboxand\ 0.65 and root-mean-square error (\mboxRMSE)=0.42, 0.37,\ \mboxand\ 0.36 kg/m2, the relationship for pasture was poor, with r=-0.06,-0.14,\ \mboxand\ -0.002 and \mboxRMSE=0.15,0.15,\ \mboxand\ 0.15, kg/m2, for 10-, 30-, and 90-m resolutions, respectively. These results suggested that RVI is better correlated with VWC for vegetation types having a greater dynamic range. However, the results were not as good as those from a previous tower-based study ( $r=0.98$ and \mbox{RMSE}=0.12\ \mbox{kg/m}^2) over wheat. This is possibly due to spatial variation in vegetation structure and surface roughness not present in tower studies. Consequently, results from this study are expected to more closely represent those from satellite observations such as SMAP, where large variation in vegetation and environment conditions will be experienced. Unsupervised hyperspectral band selection has been an important topic in hyperspectral imagery. This technique aims at selecting some critical and decisive spectral bands from an original image for compact representation without compromising and distorting the raw information in the relevant spectral bands. Although many efforts have been made to this topic, the structural information has not yet been well exploited during band selection, and there are still several deficiencies in search strategies, leaving room for further improvement. This paper tackles the unsupervised hyperspectral band selection problem from a global perspective and proposes a novel method claiming the following main contributions: 1) structure-aware measures for band informativeness and independence; and 2) a graph formulation of band selection allowing for an efficient integrated search by means of dominant set extraction. This longitudinal cross-lagged research attempts to examine the directions of relations between Internet addiction and both internalizing and externalizing problems, with attention to the potential moderating effects of peer relationships and gender. 897 Chinese junior middle school students (56.97% boys, M age = 12.73 years, SD = 0.42) completed self-reported Internet addiction, depressive symptoms, and peer-nominated aggressive behavior at two time points, one year apart, as well as self-reported friend support/conflict and positive/delinquent peers at baseline. Cross-lagged panel analyses revealed that adolescents' Internet addiction would elevate both depressive symptoms and aggressive behavior over time, rather than vice versa. Furthermore, friend conflict (rather than support) moderated these unidirectional relationships that when individuals perceived lower friend conflict, these links were no longer significant. Moreover, similar results were found for adolescents who possessed more positive peers or fewer delinquent peers. In addition, gender differences were found that addicted boys were more vulnerable to aggressive behavior, while addicted girls were more vulnerable to depressive symptoms. Family violence as an inducing factor of depressive symptoms has been confirmed in previous studies. However, the mechanisms underlying this association are not well understood, particularly in Chinese adolescents. Guided by the social-ecological diathesis-stress model, this three-wave longitudinal study aimed to examine the effects of an individual's cognitive vulnerabilities (rejection-sensitivity anxiety and negative cognitive error) and positive societal contexts (peer support) on the link between family violence and depressive symptoms in Chinese society. A total of 859 Chinese adolescents (44.35 % female; M age = 12.73, SD = 0.43 at baseline) completed self-reporting surveys that assessed variables associated with study and peer-nominated peer support. The results showed that family violence increased the incidence of depressive symptoms in adolescents after two years, resulting in rejection-sensitivity anxiety and negative cognitive error. Surprisingly, higher self-reported peer support, although not peer-nominated support, exacerbated rather than mitigated this indirect effect, supporting the reverse stress-buffering model and extending the healthy context paradox. Most of the measures were based on participants' self-reports. Background: Trophinin Associated Protein (TROAP) has been implicated in some tumors, yet its role in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) remains underexplored. This study aims to elucidate the prognostic and therapeutic implications of TROAP in RCC, encompassing different subtypes. Methods: Firstly, we identified the expression patterns of TROAP across various tumors within the TCGA pan-cancer cohort. Subsequently, the prognostic significance of TROAP was validated in three TCGA RCC cohorts and a local cohort. Finally, we conducted functional enrichment analysis, somatic mutations and copy number variations, assessed therapeutic response cohorts, and performed in vitro experiments to explore the biological characteristics of TROAP. Results: TROAP serves as an unfavorable factor in both the TCGA RCC datasets and our local cohort. Functional enrichment analysis and in vitro experiments have demonstrated its oncogene effect in promoting tumor progression. Additionally, the relationship between TROAP expression and gene mutations in RCC appears to be limited. Furthermore, elevated TROAP expression is associated with reduced efficacy of RCC therapies, including nivolumab and everolimus. Conclusions: Our findings illustrate TROAP as a pivotal biomarker for prognosis and therapeutic response in RCC. Elevated TROAP expression is indicative of aggressive tumor behavior and resistance to conventional therapies, making it a valuable target for personalized treatment strategies in RCC management. Gilbert's syndrome (GS) is a mild condition characterized by periods of hyperbilirubinemia, which results in variations in the UDP-glucuronosyltransferase 1 (UGT1A1) gene. Variant genotypes of UGT1A1 vary in different populations in the world. The present study aimed to determine the genotype of the UGT1A1 promoter and exon that are related to the serum total bilirubin (STB) level in the Chinese Han population. A total of 120 individuals diagnosed with GS (GS group) and 120 healthy individuals (non-GS group) were enrolled. Routine blood, liver function tests, and antibodies associated with autoimmune liver diseases were assessed. Blood samples were collected for DNA purification. Sequencing of the UGT1A1 promoter and exons was conducted for post segment amplification by PCR. Compound heterozygous UGT1A1*28 and UGT1A1*6 (25/120, 20.83%), single homozygous UGT1A1*28 (24/120, 20.00%) and single heterozygous UGT1A1*6 (18/120, 15.00%) were the most frequent genotypes in the GS group. However, single heterozygous UGT1A1*6 (30/120, 25.00%) and single heterozygous UGT1A1*28 (19/120, 15.83%) were the most frequent genotypes in the non-GS group. Further, the frequencies of single homozygous UGT1A1*28, compound heterozygous UGT1A1*28 and UGT1A1*6, and compound heterozygous UGT1A1*28, UGT1A1*6 and UGT1A1*27 were significantly higher in the GS group than those in the non-GS group. The STB levels of GS patients with the homozygous UGT1A1*28 genotype were remarkably higher than those of patients with other genotypes. Homozygous UGT1A1*28 and heterozygous UGT1A1*6 variants were associated with the highest and lowest risks of hyperbilirubinemia, respectively. Our study revealed that compound heterozygous UGT1A1*28 and UGT1A1*6, or single homozygous UGT1A1*28 are major genotypes associated with GS in Chinese Han people. Background. Gastric cancer (GC), an extremely aggressive tumor with a very different prognosis, is the third leading cause of cancer-related mortality. We aimed to construct a ferroptosis-related prognostic model that can be distinguished prognostically. Methods. The gene expression and the clinical data of GC patients were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus database (GEO). The ferroptosis-related genes were obtained from the FerrDb. Using the "limma" R package and univariate Cox analysis, ferroptosis-related genes with differential expression and prognostic value were identified in the TCGA cohort. Last absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) Cox regression was applied to shrink ferroptosis-related predictors and construct a prognostic model. Functional enrichment, ESTIMATE algorithm, and single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) were applied for exploring the potential mechanism. GC patients from the GEO cohort were used for validation. Results. An 8-gene prognostic model was constructed and stratified GC patients from TCGA and meta-GEO cohort into high-risk groups or low-risk groups. GC patients in high-risk groups have significantly poorer OS compared with those in low-risk groups. The risk score was identified as an independent predictor for OS. Functional analysis revealed that the risk score was mainly associated with the biological function of extracellular matrix (ECM) organization and tumor immunity. Conclusion. Aims/Introduction: Several epidemiological studies investigated the effect of Helicobacter pylori infection on diabetes, but the conclusions remained inconsistent. We aimed to explore the relationship between H. pylori infection and diabetes, as well as glycemic metabolism profiles. Materials and Methods: A cross‐sectional study including 58,482 Chinese adults was carried out between January 2016 and December 2017. H. pylori infection was diagnosed by the 13C‐urea breath test. Multivariate regression analyses were carried out to evaluate the association of H. pylori infection with diabetes. Results: Of the 58,482 participants, 3,449 (5.9%) had diabetes. The H. pylori‐positive participants had a higher rate of diabetes (7.3% vs 5.2%, P < 0.001), and higher levels of fasting plasma glucose (5.36 ± 1.12 mmol/L vs 5.28 ± 0.95 mmol/L, P < 0.001) and glycated hemoglobin A1c (5.63 ± 0.68% vs 5.57 ± 0.60%, P < 0.001) than the H. pylori negative group. Multivariate regression analyses showed that H. pylori infection was positively related to diabetes (odds ratio 1.25, 95% confidence interval 1.15–1.35). Among the H. pylori‐positive participants, the elevated levels of fasting plasma glucose and glycated hemoglobin A1c were 0.033 mmol/L (95% confidence interval 0.016–0.049 mmol/L) and 0.024% (95% confidence interval 0.008–0.041%), respectively. Additionally, H. pylori infection was significantly related to diabetes in participants aged ≥44 years, but not in participants aged <44 years. Conclusions: The present study showed that H. pylori infection is associated with diabetes among Chinese adults. Gut microbiota interacts with host immune system in ways that influence the development of disease. Advances in respiratory immune system also broaden our knowledge of the interaction between host and microbiome in the lung. Increasing evidence indicated the intimate relationship between the gastrointestinal tract and respiratory tract. Exacerbations of chronic gut and lung disease have been shown to share key conceptual features with the disorder and dysregulation of the microbial ecosystem. In this review, we discuss the impact of gut and lung microbiota on disease exacerbation and progression, and the recent understanding of the immunological link between the gut and the lung, the gut–lung axis. • Surface oxidization is engineered on commercial hard carbon for sodium ion batteries. • Expanded layers and abundant oxygen functional groups facilitate Na+ diffusion. • The modified commercial hard carbon exhibits superior rate capability. • This strategy is also available for the modification of commercial soft carbon. Hard carbon is the most promising anode material for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). However, the poor rate capability and low reversible capacity are still big challenges for its wide commerical application in SIBs. However, there are two main barriers before large-scale industrialization, i.e., low reversible capacity and poor rate performance. In this work, we report a novel method enhancing commercial hard carbon anode through a facile chemical treatment. Commercial hard carbon with an expanded carbon interlayer is realized via controllably introducing oxygen functional groups. When employed as anode for SIB, the modified CHC demonstrates a high reversible capacity of 341 mAh g−1 at 20 mA g−1, which is much higher than pristine HC (270 mAh g−1). Excellent rate capability with a capacity of 50 mAh g−1 is maintained at 5000 mA g−1. More importantly, this facile oxidation strategy is also suitable for commercial soft carbon, which also displays significantly enhanced electrochemical performance. The kinetic measurements and theoretical calculation results reveal that the enhanced electrochemical properties should be attributed to the introduced oxygen function groups, which not only facilitate the diffusion of Na ions via enlarging the carbon interlayer distance, but also enhance the absorption capacity to Na ions.
