Sexual reproduction requires the choreographed interaction of female cells and molecules with sperm and seminal fluid. In internally fertilizing animals, these interactions are managed by specialized tissues within the female reproductive tract (FRT), such as a uterus, glands, and sperm storage organs. However, female somatic reproductive tissues remain understudied, hindering insight into the molecular interactions that support fertility. Here, we report the identification, molecular characterization, and analysis of cell types throughout the somatic FRT in the premier Drosophila melanogaster model system. We find that the uterine epithelia is composed of 11 distinct cell types with well-delineated spatial domains, likely corresponding to functionally specialized surfaces that interact with gametes and reproductive fluids. Polyploidy is pervasive: More than half of lower reproductive tract cells are =4C. While seminal fluid proteins (SFPs) are typically thought of as male products that are transferred to females, we find that specialized cell types in the sperm storage organs heavily invest in expressing SFP genes. Rates of amino acid divergence between closely related species indicate heterogeneous evolutionary processes acting on male-limited versus female-expressed seminal fluid genes. Together, our results emphasize that more than 40% of annotated seminal fluid genes are better described as shared components of reproductive transcriptomes, which may function cooperatively to support spermatozoa. We present a fuzzy version of the Garman-Kohlhagen (FG-K) formula for pricing European currency option based on the extension principle. In order to keep consistent with the real market, we assume that the interest rate, the spot exchange rate, and the volatility are fuzzy numbers in the FG-K formula. The conditions of a basic proposition about the fuzzy-valued functions of fuzzy subsets are modified. Based on the modified conditions and the extension principle, we prove that the fuzzy price obtained from the FG-K formula for European currency option is a fuzzy number. To simplify the trade, the weighted possibilistic mean (WPM) value with a weighting function is adopted to defuzzify the fuzzy price to a crisp price. The numerical example shows our method makes the ɑ-level set of fuzzy price smaller, which decreases the fuzziness. The example also indicates that the WPM value has different approximation effects to real market price by taking different values of weighting parameter in the weighting function. Three azobenzene acrylate monomers containing alkyl spacers of different length were synthesized. Thermodynamic and mesomorphic properties of the monomers were measured by differential scanning calorimetry and polarizing optical microscopy. A crosslinker with the undecyl spacer was also synthesized to prepare crosslinked liquid-crystalline polymer films by photopolymerization. Polarized UV spectra and polarizing optical micrographs demonstrated that the mesogens are aligned homogeneously in the films. Low glass transition temperature of the films enabled them to bend near room temperature upon UV irradiation. Hemangioma, the most common benign vascular tumor, not only affects the appearance and psychology but also has a lifethreatening potential. It is considered that clonal vascular endothelial cell proliferation and excessive angiogenesis are responsible for hemangioma pathogenesis, in which abnormal cytokines/pathways are closely implicated, primarily including high expression of hypoxia-inducible factor-1a (HIF-1a) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) as well as their downstream pathways, especially phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (Akt). These further stimulate the migration and proliferation of vascular endothelial cells and promote the formation of new vessels, ultimately leading to the occurrence and development of hemangioma. Proanthocyanidins are naturally active substance from plants and fruits. They possess multiple functions like antiproliferation, antiangiogenesis, and antitumor. It has been demonstrated that proanthocyanidins effectively work in various diseases via inhibiting the expression of various factors, e.g., HIF-1a, VEGF, PI3K, and Akt. Considering the pathogenesis of hemangioma and the effect of proanthocyanidins, we hold a hypothesis that proanthocyanidins would be applied in hemangioma via downregulating cytokine/pathway expression, suppressing vascular cell proliferation and arrest abnormal angiogenesis. Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a clinically aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) with high treatment difficulty and high relapse rate. The bromodomain and extra-terminal (BET) proteins play significant roles in supporting the transcription of known DLBCL oncogene MYC, which provides a way for the development of targeted therapeutic agents to address this kind of malignant tumor. Here, we reported a novel benzoxazinone derivative YLT-LL-11 as potential BRD4 inhibitor and further investigated the biological activities against DLBCL. The results suggested that YLT-LL-11 inhibited cell growth against a panel of human hematopoietic malignancies cell lines in a dose- and time-dependent manner. In addition, flow cytometry and Western blotting assays showed that YLT-LL-11 inhibited the proliferation of a DLBCL cell line OCI-LY10 via inducing G0/G1 cell cycle arrest with regulation of the cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) expression. Furthermore, YLT-LL-11 facilitated OCI-LY10 cell apoptosis by up-regulation of pro-apoptotic protein BAX and down-regulation of anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2. Taken together, these results revealed that BRD4 inhibitor YLT-LL-11 can down-regulate growth-associated transcription factors MYC in DLBCL thus resulted in cell growth inhibition and apoptosis.
